I really appreciated this service, but moreso their customer service. I had excellent connection quality, speed, value and reliability, while I was subscribed to them (Cable). The only reason I left them, was due to Ebox no longer offering Cable connections in my area. While there was a bit of confusion in the end-of-service procedures, they were very understanding and ensured fair outcome. eBox is the reason I'm now recording calls. I signed up for Fibre 1000 at $65/month. Later that same day, I found the same service being offered for $50 and contacted eBox immediately. I specifically asked whether I needed to cancel the original order and sign up again to receive the promotion. I was repeatedly told no, that everything would be taken care of and that the $50 rate would appear on a later bill. Before the bill arrived, I spent roughly six hours dealing with eBox. Part of that was confirming that the promotion had actually been applied. The rest was spent trying to get a clear answer about whether I could purchase a second Beacon 6. Depending on the representative or department, the answer was yes, no, unsupported or someone else's responsibility. While I was signing up, it was basically: "Yes sir, of course sir, everything will be fine sir, there's nothing to worry about." Then the bill arrived at $65. I spent another two hours trying to get it corrected. There was an attempt to offer me $55, but eBox's final position was that because I was receiving a one-time $50 prepaid card, I was no longer eligible for the $50 monthly rate. That directly contradicted what I had previously been told. I had specifically confirmed that the prepaid card would still apply with the discounted rate. The gift card was always just gravy. At $65 instead of $50, the additional monthly cost exceeds its entire value in less than four months. Even at $55, the extra $5 per month wipes it out after ten months. The internet itself worked well, and the representatives were generally polite. The problem was the repeated confirmations, contradictory answers between departments and the lack of a proper resolution when push came to shove. Very bad customer service. Their customer reps are all outsourced with no power. Any issue has to be done through a ticket system that takes WEEKS. Recently moved into a new house and had Ebox fiber set up. Speeds were good for the first couple days but went unusable at 1-3mbps down. Called support and they split the networks to 2.4 and 5ghz and now im getting the speeds I should. Tech support was really quick to resolve the issue, and I cant say I have any complaints. The fiber installation took less than the four hours they estimate and the UI for the router is simple to navigate. Overall very satisfied. read more

This company is legitimately awful. We've been with them for five years and lately, the internet drops constantly. Right now, I'm using my phone as a hotspot-- that's how awful it is. Our modem doesn't even work. I fought with them to send me a replacement, the Puralator guy put the note on the wrong door so I never got the modem, when I called Ebox they fought with me to send a new replacement modem. I finally got them to send me one, but now no email notification that a new modem was on its way. Absolutely ZERO customer service, if they can't solve a problem, they just hang up on you. Have you ever had both prompt customer service from an ISP, plus great value and technical service? Or is that a mythical unicorn? I signed up with Ebox over the weekend, and once they called me back (five hours later ) I got outstanding service from a CSR who answered all my questions since I'm switching to fibre. This was important because their web site doesn't work for self-serve orders if you choose "pick up" instead of "deliver" for equipment, which wasted my time trying to figure this out. Still, I was sold. I meant to ask when I could pick it up from the boutique in Longueuil, so I called back a day later. Three hours later they called back, and they not only left a message, but tried me a 2nd time. They told me the store hours and even my installation appt date/time although over a day later I have yet to receive a confirmation email for the appt. Today I went by public transit to the boutique to pick it up, only to be told that it "wasn't calibrated yet." I'd arrived and waited in line to be served shortly before 5, but apparently it takes 20 mins to calibrate a router (...wth? ) and they were closing shortly so wouldn't do it. Not information I was previously given by anyone or via the website or via email. I thought at first they were informing me of a 20-min delay, not that I was SOOL and would leave empty-handed. How difficult is it for this company to add a checkbox about informing needing to arrive early at the boutique for extra 'calibration' time, both on their website, and on their screens for their phone people? Every CSR was nice, but the bosses ? You're cheap for not updating your communication and training. How many people besides myself leave work early to pick up their router but get screwed by not being informed to arrive earlier because of a 20-minute router calibration delay? Now I need to come back another day, spending another couple of hours commuting baxk and forth to Longueuil. Once is fine, twice isn't. They offered to Purolate it but not good for me with my variable schedule since if I miss delivery the package goes to the godforsaken Lachine depot. I asked for verification of the installation date and learned it was instead a week later, which I'll grant as a potential miscommunication since I was walking outside when the other CSR said the date, even though I repeated it to them. First of all , I had trouble getting the service installed because the modem was defective. I went thru a ridiculously incompetent tech support but nevermind , I was happy that the service worked. 2-3 month went by , eveything was fine but suddenly , the internet wasn't working well , very high latency , time out etc so I called tech support. These are the reasons why ebox is honestly the worst internet provider I have ever had to deal with: 1) Their internet is very expensive in comparison to other companies, I was paying $126/month. 2) The internet is terrible, cuts out all the time. Had several instances where I was without internet for days at a time without it being fixed. 3) Very poor customer service. Takes hours just to get a hold of someone and then the call drops and they don't call you back, so you have to start all over again. Was often told that my issue was "escalated to the supervisor" and I would be receiving a call back, no one ever called me back. After two years they weren't able to extend the same promo. It was close to Fido but I had to pay extra for the Ebox modem rental. I've moved to Fido to try them out for at least a year. If I could give 0 stars I would. Honestly, the story is too long to go all the way into, but of multiple ISPs I've had in multiple provinces, they are by far the worst. The latest issue is that while we're paying for Gigabit internet we are getting 30mps speeds - no refund or credits. But, they decided to send us a new modem to resolve the speeds. As I said, we're working from home - they deactivated our current modem, leaving us with NO internet - 2 WEEKDAYS before the new modem arrived. When we contacted them they said it would take multiple days to reactivate the old modem, so we had no choice but to wait for the new modem. The first person I spoke with told me it would arrive that day.. it didn't. I called someone else later that day who told me it hadn't even shipped yet. Horrible experience and has put me so far behind at work, and also left me with a higher phone bill as I've been taking video calls from my data plan. As I said - this is one of many issues. As soon as we get the modem I am going to begin looking at new ISPs. Ebox has been horrible and not offered to help on our bills, as we're not getting the service we're paying for (and now have no service), and has offered no solutions to the problem they created - them deactivating the internet of their own paying customers. read more

I just read, with deep regret, that Bell now owns eBox. That would no doubt explain my wife's recent experience regarding our home internet and phone service. EBox phoned us recently to ask us to switch to fibre optic. The technician came yesterday and finally hooked up the new cable. He quickly left but not before telling us that if we had any problem to contact EBox. I looked after he departed and found out that he had left about 8 feet of excess cable coiled up on our dining room floor. I then tried our land line. It no longer worked. Later, I went outside and saw that he left a cable hooked up to the telephone line across the street with the other end now dangling next to our house with about 100 feet of coiled cable sitting on the ground. My wife phoned this morning at 10:30 a.m. and was told she was 24th in line and to leave her number if she wanted a call back. Now, 2 1/2 hours later and still no call back. I am going to scream loud and hard to EVERYONE I know to avoid eBox and Bell like the plague. I ordered service in April, never received equipment. Got charged for equipment rental and monthly service on my cc. It hen I receive invoices and threats of being taken to a credit bureaus from them. When I call they say it's all looked after, but I've never received the refund. I had to cancel my cc so they would stop charging me. I'm receiving invoices to this day, (end of September now.). They won't refund money taken for services I never received! Over all great experience so far (6 months). After reading the reviews of people not getting their modems, I went to their office just outside of Longueuil Metro to sign up and purchase my modem (decided against all in one modem/router, bad reviews). Parked my car in office building garage, they gave me a ticket when I left to get out free (45 minutes free). Signed up and they said they would e-mail me with the sign up date and time. I left and week later I got my sign up date, it worked so I didn't have to call back to change it. In my area, Videotron services for cable Internet. So they are Videotron techs, some are good some are terrible. I got a good one, he hooked me up fast. Tested the signal and said he would advise Ebox it's hooked up. Ebox activated my service a few hours later (it was still business hours). No problems with billing for the last 6 months, no up and down internet speeds, no outages. read more

Very disrespectful company. i referred some old friends to have their service, and after trying to see if everything would go well, they cancelled every service with them 10 days after subscription. one of costumer service said everything was ok, they would have their refund in a month. As they are waiting to be refunded, they received instead a mail in collector from ARM, telling them they owed Ebox. When trying to know why, they made them waited online for hours. Then, when they finally told me what was happening with ebox, i called on their behalf to know what happened. A customer service told me oh it's because of installation fees, by the way I had to redo cause the technician didn't do it well. she told me not to worry, she would personally call me on Monday morning and transfer me to their billing service. The worst of everything was when I finally reached that billing service, that customer service told me it was because they cancelled the contract. So, now, it's for that reason. When I asked to talk to someone who can answer my question, she told me that contract was no longer valid so she cannot do anything. I asked her if now a contract could not be canceled within days, then despite they didn't have " valid " contract with ebox, they received an collector mail on behalf of Ebox. After 15 minutes, I kept telling her to transfer my call to someone who could do better, she told me she would call her " level 2 ", and guess what, phone hung up after few minutes. I called back, asked to talk to the same customer service, when transfered... phone hung up. The third time I called, another customer service told me he would stayed online until I had her colleague back on the phone with me, and he came with an escalation email to write to. I told him that her colleague could have the respect not to hang up on me, and to give that email as I was asking for someone who could answer my questions. So since the beginning of it, a collecto, 3 different answers, 2 hung up calls, and plenty time waisted. I am ashamed of referring my oldies to that company, and felt disrespected. Unfortunately I've had a bad experience - specifically with my second time having Ebox. When I first had them a few years ago, in 2016, they were great and had great service. But this time around, I'm very disappointed and frustrated with the fact that they have not listened to what I've requested, as in the date to activate my internet. I've had to tell them THREE times when to come because the initial date they said they would come is much too early - as in over a month too early! I have specifically told them that I won't be moving 6 weeks from now and it cannot be done sooner - so they've clearly not listened. On top of all of this, they keep me on hold for a VERY long time on the phone to even speak to anyone (multiple hours). When I have spoken to someone, they were still very nice but nonetheless I'm very disappointed and I do hope that I won't regret having joined with them the second time. After calling back a third time....she said to ignore the automated message, and was very kind and apologetic about it. Been with them 2 years. I asked them to terminate my service in july because we are moving. They said it was noted, but they cancelled my service right away. They said that they were working on it and hang up. They schedule me with an automated appoitement with a tech two weeks after cancelling my internet. They asked me to be at home for the whole afternoon away from work. I called them to know if I could get the number of the tech or know a more specific hour. They would not let me know. I used eBox internet service for several years and the connection was generally good. I will be moving out of the country soon and have paid one extra month. The company informed me that I will be issued a refund, but they require a Canadian address to send the check. I find it absolutely ridiculous that in 2021 there is no electronic system for processing a refund when they can easily take automatic payments electronically for the bills. After more than an hour on the phone with customer service, I asked to keep the modem I was renting rather than receive the refund. I enjoyed over 2 years of being an EBOX customer. Unfortunately, when I moved and wanted to close my account, they tried charging me 119.99 plus tax for "a damaged modem" I was renting for $6 / month. The damage was that there was a small amount of paint that would easily rub off on the exterior. I expected they would give their equipment a deep clean prior to providing it to a new customer but I guess not. TLDR, I paid over $170 in rental fees over 2+ years, now they want me to buy it out right for an additional $120, plus $30 in shipping. I was an Ebox client for about 1.5 years. Internet service was meh. I use VOIP phones and frequently had trouble getting clear communications. I was able to confirm that up and download speeds went WAY down during high usage times using online speed tests. Only fully appreciated how bad they were when I switched to Bell 8 months ago - no recurrence of this since then. Paid $6 a month for modem for 18 months. Couldn't find the modem after a move. They billed me the full $115 plus tax for it and immediately took my last payment of an unused month for $85. Now they have me in collection for not paying the remaining $30 for a $115 modem that I had already paid $203 for. And they won't allow me to speak with a manager. I am a student and I was looking for fast installation of internet when I moved. I quit my current internet company for Ebox because it had faster installation. They promised May 4, 2023 for my installation. On the Monday of that week they sent me an email that it will actually be May 8, 2023. I called them because on May 8, 2023 I have exams, and on top of that when I registered they said my installation would be May 4, 2023. The agent was nonchalant and basically didn't care at all. Then when I told him about me not being able to be there on the Monday he said I'll have to wait an extra 14 business days for a next appointment. I explained that I really can't be there and I can't wait that long for internet. He said that I have to make decisions, basically implying to decide between my exams or internet. So then I hung up and looked at other companies. I ended up finding another internet company that could literally install me on May 9, 2023 in the morning, only 5$ more expansive but 4 times the internet speed Ebox was offering me. So I call back Ebox and I tell them I want to cancel my service because I am already very disappointed and I don't even have the internet yet, and that if this is how they were treating their customers before they were even installed I don't even want to be part of it for the internet. Then the lady put me on hold 25 minutes. I had to hung up because I had class. I called back at night, this person tells me they have to transfer me to level 2 because only level 2 can handle cancellation. I get to this guy and now that I have this dude on the phone now he begs for me to stay and try to say that in the long term my new internet company will be more expensive etc. I keep telling him no and to cancel my system. Also, please note that I know how IT works even though I am a woman and this is not the first time this happened with companies related to internet or computers, but this guy legit says word for word "you might not know this as a woman but..." and then proceeds to try and tell me that after 150MBS of internet it doesn't matter, that there's no difference of speed no matter how many people you are... which is so not true... I because a bit ruder at this point and I told him to cancel my service that this was honestly the worst customer experience I've ever been through. He finally cancels it and then tells me I have to personally pay to return the router they had sent me. This is the first internet company I've ever had that I had to pay to return the package even for cancellation. The two previous companies I had, I cancelled and I never paid to return it, they gave me pre-paid label. So this guy tells me I will not have my refund until they receive the router back, which I guess is fine. But basically this means that they'll refund me 70$ for the service I paid, but on that 70$ a total of 27$ went to re-send the router to them, so it's not a full refund! I shipped my router back to them, and it finally arrived and I still had no refund so I went on their chat. They basically told me that they can confirm that they received it back and that the team handling refund has my file and that it will take 2 to 6 business weeks to process the refund and that then they'll send a cheque through mail. Excuse me? What? 2 to 6 business weeks??? No other companies ever had this long of delays to refund a service of internet, especially that they have the information of payment to do the refund as I paid through a card online. The idea of sending a cheque is archaic and on top of that can get lost in mail etc. Also, mail already takes about 1 week, so the fact they take 2 wto 6 business week just to process the refund is INSANE!
