I tried to do it on my own but I was struggling, called up Rome Tailor, spoke to Yong who told me to bring the jacket in. The shop itself is a blast from the past with rolls of suit material (he custom makes his own!), vintage sewing machines and irons on display. I came to Yong needing this jacket done quickly (6 days) and although he hesitated at first, was willing to help me. He explained he would need to hand stitch my appliqué embellishments as my jacket was suede, it would be pricey due to the time he would need to spend ($40 each one). I happily paid this as I know suede is not easy to work with and I fully trusted his skill set and wanted this jacket to come out pristine (this vintage piece was for an event at Michael Jackson's Hayvenhurst property, so you gotta show up sharp to MJ's house)!! Yong had my jacket ready faster than quoted and let me tell you, it was PERFECT! I felt like a million bucks and got compliments all night, even from MJ's son, nephew and Michael Bush (MJ's long time costume designer)! I am so in love with this jacket and can't wait to bring more projects to Yong! Please do not be like me, though, and take your item in last minute. This was no fault of my own due to shipping but quality custom tailoring takes at least 2-3 weeks since Rome is so busy. And for a those saying he is "rude," NO. He takes his art seriously and was straight up with me but I can see how that would be misinterpreted by some (I personally enjoyed his vibe and the mini education he gave me while there). His prices are commensurate with the quality of work that he does. So if you are looking to have something done cheap don't come here. But if you value quality and appreciate expert craftsmanship when it comes to your clothes and how you look, Rome Tailors is the place to go. On NYE, I had it on for less than an hour when a relative reached over me at dinner dripped oily beef juice all over the skirt. Dabbing with dish soap only made the stains worse. Yon warned me that she might not be able to remove the stain but told me that she would try. By the time that I came to pick it up, all of the stains were completely gone. We came back a few days later to get them and my son tried them on. They were floods!! My son is quiet and shy and won't say anything. But I will! I politely said I didn't like it at all and that wasn't what we asked for. He said he'd fix it and come back next day. The next day we went to to get them and he handed us the pants and said thank you.. kinda ushering us out. Uhh no we're going to try them on to make sure they were better.
