Was able to do a last-minute alteration on my husband's suit with very short notice and at a reasonable price

Took my son's suit pants to get hemmed. They needed to be taken in on the waist and the length. They have pics inside asking which length we want, 1=floods, 2=still floods and 3=long, we asked for 3. We came back a few days later to get them and my son tried them on. They were floods!! My son is quiet and shy and won't say anything. But I will! I politely said I didn't like it at all and that wasn't what we asked for. He said he'd fix it and come back next day. The next day we went to to get them and he handed us the pants and said thank you.. kinda ushering us out. Uhh no we're going to try them on to make sure they were better. I feel like once they cut them they cut them and they can't make them that much longer. He tried them on and they still weren't as long as I'd like them to be but whatever. We don't have a choice now! My son says it's fine but I could see in his face he didn't like the way it looked! I want to say we paid $30, $20 for waist and $10 for the length. read more

Very nice man - At 5'0" bring in dresses now & then strictly for hemming. Nothing else needed. I find his work is good, but his prices are high for a simple hem. Buy a casual dress on sale for $35; alterations are $25. I like him, but am looking for a more reasonable price. read more

My fiancée brought his suit to be altered, was told to come back in today (9/20) to pick it up. He gets to the shop and it's CLOSED until 10/6? Our wedding is on 10/5 and we leave to the destination on 9/23! No way to get in contact with the whatsoever. read more

I needed my 10 year old snowboard jacket pocket zipper repaired. Not only that but also asked to have the interior pockets' velcro fasteners replaced with zippers. Heads up guys especially military members!!! Just I came I today because of the reviews but...I went there for sewing a new patch and a new rocker on my dress uniform(it probably takes 5--10 minutes)and I want it to be done in next two hours and they ask for $20!!! I said "it's kinda too much" and then the older guy pushed my dress blue back to me and said "you can ask someone else then". I would strongly suggest going somewhere else. 1) Horrible quality of items they use. I went in to get a zipper changed on an item. I was charged $27, I was okay with the price. I had read the Yelp reviews and I am willing to pay for quality workmanship. Got it back a week later, I go to zip it up and the zipper breaks. I was like it happens, I take it back and show them the broken zipper. The owner says to me, we did not put that on your shirt. I proceeded to show him my receipt which he wrote describing what was going to be done to the shirt. After eating a little crow, he said he would fix it. Cool. I also brought a pair of pants to be hemmed. I had brought an exact pair of pants two weeks prior to be hemmed and was charged $13. This day I was told the charge to hem the exact same style of pants would be $25. HUH?!?!? I proceeded to tell the owner I was charged $13 last time why the almost 100% increase. (Blank stare) Agreed to only charge me $13. One week later, I go back to pick up my items they were both ready. Guess what broke again the zipper!!!! Inferior materials, price gouging!!!! YIKES! EMERGENCY TAILORING, STAT!!! In a bit of a panic, I yelped & called and NO place to go in Oxnard EXCEPT Victor's Alterations & Tailoring! My little man is starting "THE CHANGE" and the fams had to play dress up at a gala the next day. With an impromptu growth spurt, nothing dressy fits well cuz the oddball's torso isn't proportional to his bottom. I can iron like nobody's business, but don't look at me to tailor ANYthing. Located on the east end of Town & Shore Village, facing Channel Islands Blvd. It's very close to the intersection of Channel Islands Blvd. and Ventura Rd. We come in, ask to hem the little man's pants, and Mr. Victor replies, "No problem. I can do it." Three dressing rooms to change in. Señor marks the level and tells us to return IN ONE HOUR!!! HUH? THAT'S IT?!?! Everyone else I called scoffed at my request for prompt service, but Mr. Victor, this man HANDLES HIS BIZNESS!!! Sure enough, things went smooth as silk. Victor is the man! I practicaly live in a suit, in one at least 3 days a week, I try and buy a few new suits a year. Lately I have been frequenting Nordies in the Esplanade. So I'll pick up a suit or two and head over to Victors for sizing and tailoring. His place is usually not crowded, so I can get right into a fitting room and get sized up. Since I bought my coat, I've lost around 20lbs so my coat really didn't fit anymore. Since we are in a recession I decided that I should get it altered rather than buying a new one. I went to Victor's Tailoring because it was the closest to my house and it's right on Channel Islands Rd on the street sidewalk, really convenient. I took my coat, told him what I wanted, he said OK.... I left a little worried because I did not know what he was going to do. Came back a couple of days, saw my coat, it looked like he didn't touch it, I tried it on, and boy did it fit. He did a great job, I can wear my coat again. At $22 I thought the price was pretty reasonable. I'll be sure to come back again to see whether this was a one thing success story, but looking around his shop, it looks like the owner is really into tailoring so I am going to trust him! read more
