This was my third visit to Alexis Occasions in the past 5 years and I'm very happy with the alterations. The first two mother of the groom dresses were purchased and had the alterations here and so were my husband's suits. My recent formal gown needed to be shorten. The fabric of the dress was very delicate. However the Seamstress did a wonderful job shortening the dress. All the alterations were done in a timely manner. read more

Unfortunately I won't be coming back here. I have gotten quite a few dresses altered over the years, and I don't care how busy you are or how much business you have, it's the customers that make your business. The service you provide and what you say to them makes all the difference. I got my daughter's prom dress altered and the hem was perfect for the length but the top was 5 inches WAY too tight. To the point where the clasp broke. Now, I should have had my daughter try it on before we left but I've always just left with the dresses... so once we realized the dress was too tight I called Margarita and asked her if there was anything that could be done. She said no she wouldn't have time and they 'insist' the dress is tried on before we leave her store. She ended the conversation with 'have a great day' and hung up. Well, she never said anything about trying on the dress before we leave and we were in a hurry to get to a birthday party so I just didn't think anything of it. $130 that was partially wasted on altering this beautiful dress and I am completely disappointed in the service I received and will not be returning. I found a lovely alteration shop close to me that was happy to fix the dress and basically just added a corset back - it took her 1 day and in time for prom today ( I drove all the way from Ojai because I remembered using Alexis Occasions in the past ). I won't be coming back to Alexis Occasions and you should never be too busy to TRY to at least take a look at the dress. She wasn't even willing to try to fix it or look at it. I will be reviewing the alterations shop that I used in Ojai. Sometimes it's worth it to use a smaller business versus a larger one that is just too busy for their customers. read more

Can't trust in the owners word. She promised me alterations at no charge(and even in her writing).Then when the alterations were needed, she had me pay for them when I went back to get the dress. I came the time to pick up my dress and talk to her daughter about the situation and she ended up taking her daughter in the back room, telling her not to talk to me and continued to overcharge me. I had an event that I was going out of town for the next day and she allowed me to leave with the address, not being altered to me. I had to try and tie it with a hair tie the next day for a wedding. Hello, I am coming on here to share my experience with this place. Both me and my husband came here. He needed a suit for the wedding and I needed my wedding dress altered. On first arrival, I thought they were amazing. I thought there was just a deposit and we'd pay in full once everything was done. However, at check out, the owner said that they only BEGIN to work on it once it's paid in full. So, of course, I paid in full. I wanted it to be worked on immediately! And I was happy and left. And as we were picking up my husbands suit, I asked the owner what alterations they had decided to go with for my wedding dress. Because there was 2 options: opening the sides of the dress or extending the back. It was there that she told me that she had not worked on it. Mind you, I was 1 week away from my wedding. I was confused because i thought they were already working on it. I knew 100% they were not done with the dress, but at least starting it. Nope. She told me that they work on it 2 days before pick up. However, I was thrown off because of what was first told to us. That they start working on it once it's paid in full. That was a lie !!! She saw my face of confusion and clearly not happy, it was than that she told me, "take your dress. Take it. I haven't worked on it". I told her, no I'm not saying I am going to. I was just confused based off what was shared to us from our first visit. She cut me off several times and told me, "take it". I stood quiet because I was in awe that she would tell me to take the dress 1 week from my wedding day. She left me no time to actually go find a place. If I had known that they don't work on it until 2 days before pick up, I would have chosen somewhere else. I was simply confused why I was told a lie. I stood quiet because I knew that no matter what, I had no choice. I was 1 week away from my wedding day. But even tho I was quiet, she repeated to me 20x to take my dress. I was horrified. I was calm. I couldn't even finish my sentence and explain to her that I was not rushing her. But confused. The way she treated me was absolutely horrible. I would never wish that for any bride 1 week away from your wedding. I also believe she over charged me just because I was a bride. And it was my wedding day. I needed a dress for my daughters wedding and was asked to wear a taupe color which was hard to find. My sister in law mentioned Alexis Occasions. I walked in without an appointment one day after work and the lady helped me immediately and found two dresses right away just by looking at me (eyeballing my size) both were very nice but the first one fit perfect and seemed like it was made for me . I had other dresses at home and still had more on the way to try on but I didn't like them and went back within the week and asked to try on the dress again the lady manager helped me again always kind and professsional never pushy in trying to make the sale. Finally I made the decision to purchase the dress and they made some alterations for me that made me extremely happy. The wedding is this coming Saturday and I can't wait. Unbelievably rude, pretentious, unprofessional staff. DO NOT GO HERE. The most horrible experience either of us have had dress shopping. My mom flew in from across the country to help me shop for a wedding dress, and this was one of our (regrettable) stops. As soon as we gave our (perfectly reasonable) budget, the curly-haired lady with glasses started treating us like second class citizens. We had already found beautiful bridal choices well within our budget, but she claimed it was impossible and was being very condescending. When we said we wanted some glitter, she said that would be outside our budget (really? they have tons of tacky looking prom dresses covered in glitter for a fraction of our budget. there is nothing expensive about GLITTER.) Another issue. I had a long day and was PMSing - i apologized and acknowledged right away that I had been sweating all day, and I had actually gone into the bathroom and washed my underarms with soap and water thoroughly before ever entering the dressing room. I had showered just a few hours earlier and worn deodorant, but it was starting to wear off. Some odor still lingered - so she offered me baby wipes which I readily accepted. like, I get it. Of course. conversation over. Right? Wrong. She proceeded to (attempt to) humiliate me for my body odor nonstop after that point... dramatically covering her face while handing me literally tens after tens of baby wipes ... after I had already just washed myself with soap and water... it's embarrassing enough, and it wasn't like I didn't understand or was being uncooperative. "I can't sell a dress if it stinks," she said loudly in front of everyone in the store , after I already fully agreed to the baby wipes. When I told her I'd been dress shopping that day, she said, very exaggeratedly, "they let YOU try on dresses?!?" Like yes, literally so many have and it hasn't once been a problem, shut up already. My mom was seeing white at that point and wanted to leave. But I thought, whatever let's just try on a dress - a dress that SHE picked, by the way - you don't have the freedom to roam thru the dresses yourself. Then, she forces me to keep my shoes on as I put on the dress ... what?? I'm allowed to step into this "pristine" dress in my outdoor shoes, but god forbid I have a trace of body odor coming from a place the dress wouldn't even touch...(????) So i tried on the dress, and neither my mom nor I liked it. Then she immediately dismissed us saying, "good luck finding your dress!" And couldn't wait to kick us out (we were getting the hell out of there anyway). We ended up finding 2 iridescent, glittery white gowns that checked all the boxes for less than a hundred bucks that day. You're better off supporting a business like Soli's Boutique or going to Windsor for quality formal wear and good customer service. read more

As an event planner, I warned my client about this place. I had heard bad reviews from colleagues and other clients. My client insisted since the location was convenient for her. The owner (I believe her name is Margarita) is extremely unprofessional and plain rude! She made comments about my client's weight MULTIPLE times during our brief visit, asking her is she was planning to lose weight prior to the wedding. I was appalled by her lack of sensitivity. SO SO RUDE!!! Super slow service (usually fine if you're respectful and are genuinely trying your best) they had us wait outside even though there was plenty of room for us (4 people) in their trash boutique. They throw the same catalogs at every party walking in. They don't care for your questions. They want you to be certain about what you are looking for. They do not care if you've never tried on a dress, they expect you to know exactly what color you are looking for, what length, if a slit or no slit, if body con or gown style. They will NOT help you if you don't know the answers to these questions. They also ask about your budget and will get snobby about whatever answer you give them. I believe that you should be allowed to try on dresses to see how you feel in them! Doesn't matter how many different times you change, as long as you're comfortable and confident in your final choice!!! They will tell you that it is NOT worth helping you. That you are not important and they will tell you to leave. Definitely the worst costumer service experience ever! Would 100% rate 0 stars if I could, but I cannot so 1/5 will do. As per my usual, I needed something done at the last minute--brought in my bridesmaid's dress for alterations and needed them done in less than a week.... They first told me, "No," that she couldn't have the dress ready and that there was, "No way..." I was so bummed out but it turns out she thought I was bringing in a wedding dress!!! We were laughing so hard when she realized it wasn't a wedding dress!! I had never taken anything in for alterations, so, I was scared that she had started cutting the material at the bottom of my dress while I had it on...but let me tell you...she definitely knows what she is doing!! My dress was ready when I needed it and was the perfect length. Amazing customer service and very personable. There are so many beautiful dresses in the shop. I will definitely be going back.
