Perfect lake cottages. Clean, comfortable, pet friendly.... You will be back year after year!…read more Angell Cove Cottages has been my "Go To" vacation spot for several years. The location is ideal if you want a relaxing, quiet, beautiful, pristine, and tranquil setting for your Maine trip. Its location is ideal for day trips for shopping in Freeport, sightseeing, and trips to the coast. You can go boating, fishing, and swimming right from your front door. The cottages are clean, well stocked, safe, and beautifully decorated. Each cottage has a grill, well stocked kitchen with utensils and pots and pans ready for every need from burgers to lobsters! They also provide recreational equipment for fishing, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and just chilling out on the lawn, in the houseboat, on the dock, or in a hammock under the trees. Don't be surprised if you see the same vacationers each year.... it is "How Life Should Be" in Maine.

Comfortable cottage with a great view and right on the lake. Our cottage had a full kitchen, which…read morewas nice for family meals and saved time shlepping to restaurants. More time for relaxing in a hammock! We hiked around the grounds, found the well-stocked self-service game shed, horseshoes, badminton nets. Also self-service canoe/kayaks/lifejackets. Plenty of chairs by the shore for looking at the view. We took a canoe over to one of the bigger islands for a picnic lunch. The next day we kayaked over to another island where an eagle nest had been reported. We enjoyed swimming at the beach. Be sure to bring water shoes as there are some freshwater clams living here. I truly felt like I was finally on vacation when we were all sitting by the shore of the lake at sunset, listening to the loons sing, with fellow campers playing guitar. Kids were playing by the swings waiting for the campfire to be ready for marshmallows. I wish I could have stayed longer. This place is well taken care of, very friendly hosts. They allow well-behaved pets too, which was nice for our new pup.

Home-Nest Farm must be in horrible decline. Stay away! They are so desperate for revenue that they…read moretry to dupe customers with a pathetic and misleading website. Here's my experience with this vacation rental property. I clicked the "reservations" link on the home page, and my eye was immediately drawn to the 'arrival date', 'departure date', and 'choice of cottage' boxes right above the giant BOOK NOW button. So, I filled them out, entered my credit card info to pay the $200 deposit, and thought I had just secured a room in Maine for a weekend get away. A couple of hours later, the owner emailed me back to say "Sorry you failed to inquire about availability first before making a deposit ... as required on our "reservation page" of the Web site www.homenestfarm.com (copied here). These dates have already been reserved by long term guests (staying one or more weeks, during the height of our season). We can return your deposit less the return fees charged by the card server ($25); or if you wish, we can hold your deposit until summer and notify you if we have a cancellation that would make these days available. If you wish to have $175 returned at this time, please let us know." This is truly absurd. There is no mention of a $25 non-refundable fee for trying to make a booking deposit. And the idea that you have to email them first to check on availability before booking online is crazy. They brag about being in business for 87 years, but their user interface design was already obsolete 87 years ago! To top it all off, I then emailed them to admit I was confused by their highly unusual web site as I "assumed it worked the way one would expect it work (and the way every other web site works!)" and their response was as follows: "Sorry!! Our policy is, "If we are charged ... (as we are) ... you get charged." What's fairer than that? Conversely, we think it unfair that we be held responsible for your not reading our very clear instructions. Maybe we're not like "every other site," as you so haughtily exclaim with exclamation point! But what's so wrong with that? We object to being forced into the mold of others' preferences; and we are equally tired of being told to be politically correct: (which is just one reason we voted for Trump!). At 87 years old, we aren't about to change our ways for ways you young whippersnappers might prefer. With your attitude problem, we wouldn't want your business if we did have vacancies ... (which we don't!!!). Have you ever wondered why you have a problem with us and no one else does? Most of our guests are happy return vacationers who like us, Yankee independence or not. Please know we are sending you the $175 refund, noting $25 in no way covers the aggravation of having to deal with what some have characterized as a stereotypical NY attitude." Classy. Given their attitude and approach to hospitality evidenced here, I genuinely fear what it must be like to be a guest at their property.

I'm unsure who reads these, but if you're one to do so... consider this an important read…read more My family moved from an apartment complex into one of the houses owned by HPM. Though the onboarding experience was rough and didn't feel the most welcoming, we persisted and found a beautiful home to rent. When we moved from onboarding to the move-in team, things improved quickly, and they were quick to accommodate an accelerated move-in date since the house was available. The rental experience after was seamless with an easy portal for payment, quick response for questions... but this is IMPORTANT part to read. On a Saturday afternoon we were running the washing machine when the septic system became overloaded and backed up. We were quick to shut off the water and ensure that the property would be safe, but Andrew at HPM took the brunt of very scared tenants, and treated us with humanity and dignity. Andrew was quick to respond and came the next day to take a look at the system. After a day of in-depth searching to find where the septic tank was and another day of waiting for the Septic company to arrive... Monday arrived and the tank was emptied. You could say that Andrew was prioritizing the property management aspect, but that's the furthest from the truth. He was patient and understanding while we called and were crude/frustrated. He took the time to gather information about what was going on, calming down us in the process, and explaining his process/method to the madness. He treated us better than we deserved in the moment, and was able to work quickly on resolving a very critical issue. Besides the onboarding experience, we have had nothing but a 110% effort put into our experience and wellbeing as tenants. We personally are grateful to Honest Property Management, and hope to stay at minimum within their property system... well hopefully indefinitely! But truly, I'd recommend anyone who's concerned about renting from HPM take those concerns, and talk to a member of the HPM team like Andrew. You won't regret it!
