Ah, the Winey Mary--a concoction that dares to ask, "Why be ordinary when you can be a cheeky…read morecunt?" This sassy cousin of the Bloody Mary trades in its vodka for a rich, full-bodied stale sake wine, and oh, what a trade it is! From the first sip, you're greeted with the robust warmth of the sake, which pairs oh so harmoniously with the traditional tomato juice base. But don't be fooled; this isn't just a Bloody Mary in a fancy dress. No, the Winey Mary has a personality all its own--bold, slightly rebellious, yet undeniably charming that you'd think it's asking you "Hey, do you come here often?" To which I won't! And let's not forget the garnish. Whether it's a classic celery stalk, a twist of lemon, or a few olives bobbing playfully on the surface, each adds its own layer of whimsy to the classic Bloody Mary. But the Whiney Mary? It's as if the sliver of lime at the bottom of the glass is winking at you, mocking you by what a horrendous choice you've made. So, raise your glass to the Winey Mary--a drink that's not just a cocktail, but an experience. It's the perfect companion for those who like their beach days with a side of alcoholism and regret. Cheers! WORST. PRETZELS. EVER. !!!!

I love this lake and park…read more. Our church has been coming here for their annual picnic/baptism ceremony, the past several years.. I have been along the past three years and have really enjoyed hanging out here each time. The park is beautiful and maintained very well, the amenties are generous for being a public park. there is a small charge of course, but it is worth it. The beach is clean, the lake is beautiful, and the swimming area is very safe, albeit a bit shallow, but great for toddlers and pre-teens to play and cool off on a hot summer day. Hungry?? the field house offers snacks and light food, such as hot dogs, chips, soda, ice cream. Or, you can bring along a BBQ grill or use the grills provided and whip up something you toted along. Grab a spot by one of the many picnic tables and relax. There are some real nice walking paths for those of you that enjoy soaking up nature and hiking thru the prairie. Great place to snap some nature pics or give the kids a nature tour. I would give this place five stars if they put the volleyball nets back up.. but that is just me just feeling a bit disappointed we were unable to play beach volleyball..

Some of the trails were also closed but the Blue trail around the lake was nice and sufficient for what we wanted to do anyways! The beach area is nice and they have a lot of green area to have a picnic. There are a couple sand volleyball courts so we played some badminton for fun! They also have a 13 mile horse trail if that's your thing. They seem to have a large presence of camp hosts, Rangers, and other personnel around! Clean park and they have ice & wood for sale.

I did some hiking here recently and loved the area. Trails were pretty easy to follow and I did the blue trail, which was pretty muddy in spots in the spring. There were some horse riders on their nearby trail, and this would be a great place to hike in the summer. This review listing should probably be split between natural Rec Area and Chicago Campground for Alpine Valley- as there seems to be reviews tilting low as a campground to get your party on before DMB. It's a beautiful place, in Kenosha County!

I visited Shelton Park because I struggled to find a solid area to park in Wilmette, which is where…read moreI had hoped to connect to the Green Bay Trail for a run. The park was my last hope to connect to the trail as I searched for an entrance to it as well as places to park within a reasonable distance. Its parking space appears to be well enough for its in-and-out flow of visitors throughout the day. During the times of my visits I have never once struggled to find a parking spot available. If that ever is a problem there is also availability along Old Green Bay Rd. Shelton Park appears to be very peaceful with a neighborhood appeal. It is an ideal place to play tennis or bring the children to play on its playground, Phil Thomas Memorial Playground as it is referred to. If you are yearning to get a small workout in, the park has fitness equipment: a built-in elliptical, pull up bar, and a place to do sit ups. As one who made this park my gateway to the Green Bay Trail I was able to get in a solid workout because of its fitness equipment. The park is well-manicured, consisting of picnic tables and benches if it becomes your pit stop while on trail or within the neighborhood for whichever activity of your enjoyment. Nearby sits the Metra railway, which temporarily drowns out the beautiful sounds of birds chirping or any humankind activities whatsoever within the park. In the meantime I plan to continue utilizing Shelton Park as my connector to the Green Bay Trail until I am fully accustomed to running in the area. I recommend it if you are in search of an area with activities I aforementioned or one that connects to the trail as I was. ~Blessings~ Thomas G
