    Decided to stay in and eat at the hotel and I was not disappointed. The restaurant is not very large, but it was very comfortable. One booth sits inside a small gondola! The place is decorated with Swiss charm and all of the menus had both English and German so it was very easy to navigate. My waitress was very nice and helpful. She recommended that I try their fixed menu that included any appetizer, any non-special entree and a desert. I chose the asparagus risotto and a traditional Swiss entree made with veal and mushrooms in a sauce with hash browns. The risotto was very good. Super creamy and tender and the fried asparagus on top was a lovely touch. The veal was spectacular! So tender and flavorful! I absolute loved it! I paired my meal with a local beer which was also delicious. I was so full after my meal that I opted for a single scoop of pistachio ice cream. I look forward to my next meal at eCHo!

    The food was good. We had a season salad and the classic because we had a fondue earlier and could not eat a lot for dinner so we shared. The waiter messed it kinda up by announcing our birthday instead of our anniversary and had lots of attitude after. The other waiter working just 2 days and still in training was very nice. The lights and decoration were really nice, we had a nice view on the river and the City.

    My first meal in Zurich was at eCHo. I had made reservations way in advance for late dinner since my flight won't get in to Zurich until close to 9pm. So, when I got here, I pretty much had the restaurant to myself as all of Zurich has already had eaten dinner except for me. I got to pick my table and of course, I had to eat inside their one and only gondola. Being lactose intolerant, I'd normally shy away from dairy but I'm in Switzerland! And it was almost 10pm and I had no other plans but to eat and sleep! So, I got the fondue. I thought about getting some protein but the server said their meat portions are quite big so, I skipped that part. The fondue was more than enough. There was so much bread (and you could ask for more if it's not enough). They must put a lot of alcohol in their fondue or maybe I'm just not used to drinking anymore, I was getting tipsy from eating fondue! Hot melty cheese enrobing each chunk of bread...yuuuummmm...I finished my fondue. Every drop and morsel in the pot was gone. I had a few pieces of bread leftover. The service was good too. I felt guilty for being the only person in there so I kind of rushed myself even if they weren't rushing me. It was a fantastic first meal despite not having meat.

    Great food and outstanding service (Sebastian was funny, helpful and friendly). It was Friday night and they had a wine buffet with 4 to 5 different kinds of wine. We didn't wait long for our food; it came piping hot and well prepared. They also didn't rush us on the bill (much like all of Europe) which made a very relaxing and enjoyable evening. Also, we got seated in the ski gondola/cable car!

    Meat and cheese

    eCHo is located inside the Marriott Hotel in Zurich. I had reservations and when we went, we were the only ones in the restaurant. It's definitely an upscale restaurant and the decor matches that feel. As a starter, we got the meat and cheese plate. For entrees, we shared the Fondue and Cordon Bleu. The presentation for each dish was really nice. Swiss food isn't my favorite but I enjoyed the food at eCHo. However, the food was not worth the prices. Food is good but not anything special. I'm sure there's better food in Zurich at a more reasonable price. Before we ordered the entrees, we were originally going to share the "A Threesome for 59" which is a 3 course meal for $59 CHF. Our waiter said we CAN'T share that menu item. He said we would have to order 2 of them and if he sees us share, we would have to pay twice. That was not only disappointing but ridiculous. I've never been to a restaurant that will not let you split a plate with someone else, let alone be so strict about it. Skip eCHo unless you're into hotel restaurants. The mediocre food and unfriendly service isn't worth the high price tag.

    I must say that I'm disappointed. First of all when you enter through Thai restaurant the combination of smells of Thai and Swiss restaurants is just very bad. Then, when entering the Swiss part the cheese smell is so strong that you feel it all evening- sorry but something must be wrong with ventilation. The menu card was short which was good. We chose our meals but had difficulties to explain to the waiter that as side dish we want rosti instead of purée- this does seem difficult right? The meals were not served at the same time, first man were served theirs. The food was ok but my expectation was to eat something terrific as it is Marriott in the end. A nice accent of giving flowers to ladies didn't result in hugging scoring- nice element but when you strive for perfection!

    Overpriced but excellent quality. Decent selection and variety. Steak was cooked perfectly. The beers were small (0.3L for price of 0.5L). If this was 30% cheaper it would be 4 to 4.5 stars. But, it is a hotel restaurant, so maybe it is to be expected. If money is no concern, it is worthwhile.

My family took Lily up on her recommendations, and we ordering one Klara and one Willi, each with a side of sausages, as well as one original tarte flambé and one vegi tarte flambée. The food was all very delicious!! My personal highlights from the meal were the sausage dipped in the Willi cheese along with the onions and potatoes that were served with the dish. The tartes also had very thin, yummy crusts topped with raclette cheese. The side of pickles provided a tangy contrast to the rest of the meal which I liked. We ended our meal with a warm chocolate cake and lemon sorbet. I'm not really one for alcohol, so I found the vodka in the sorbet to be a bit too strong for me. However, the chocolate cake with the jam and vanilla ice cream was very good and had just the right amount of chewiness. I wish that I could replace my local Cheesecake Factory with a Raclette Factory instead so that I could enjoy Swiss cheese melted over bread, sausages, and potatoes all the time. Oh well, perhaps it's just another excuse to visit Switzerland again one day :)

Hiltl is popular for being the world's oldest vegetarian restaurant in the world. Here's information I will share that I wish was available before planning to come here. You must make a reservation for lunch/ dinner because that's when they're busy. Breakfast is for walk-ins and they don't do reservations. Hop on their website and be sure you're on the right location because they have several within a 2-mile radius...some on the same street. I went here to try their breakfast buffet. I wasn't sure how busy they got for breakfast so, I got here at 6:30am because I got the wrong information online! They open at 7am. Different locations have different hours. Check their website for actual hours and don't trust review site information because it's wrong! They're not busy for breakfast at all. There's 2 ways to do their buffet. You can pay a fixed price and fill your plate multiple times or go and fill your plate once and pay based on the weight of your food - you get free bread. I did the pay-by-weight option. I have a whole day of eating planned so, I wasn't about to fill up for breakfast. When they opened at 7am, they were still putting the food out one by one. By 7:20, all the food was out which was fine. I was in no rush. The spread includes fresh fruits, cheeses, butter, margarine, cheesecake, chocolate mousse, mango mousse, mango chia pudding, banana chocolate brownie crumble, a pear dessert (with cream, vanilla and orange), rosti, scrambled eggs, potato salad, tomato and mozzarella salad, beets, chickpeas, olives, couscous, corn salad, olives, asparagus, green peas, feta cheese, hardboiled eggs, curry salad, dolmades, broccoli and edamame, artichoke salad, bulgur salad, tabbouleh, orecchiette tofu salad, Thai salad, hummus, guacamole, muhammara, etc. They have 6 types of bread. Slice a piece and toast it yourself. Vegan and vegetarian food tend to taste strongly of coconut/ coconut milk and I don't like that. My favorites from the buffet include chocolate mousse, mango mousse, banana chocolate brownie crumble, dolmades, asparagus, orecchiette tofu salad, and Thai salad. I got a mango lassi to drink which I didn't like. It had curry powder. Service was pleasant. The restaurant was clean.
