Took me a year but I finally got hitched! I bought a New Ford Bronco Sport last year but Ford was all out of tow hitches. I heard about Eckharts but kept putting it off until today. I called the Mission Hills location this morning and was told that they would not be able to do it until later this week. They referred me to the Reseda location. In short, I called the Reseda shop, dropped off my vehicle and picked my vehicle up about two hours later. The install was clean. Pricing was reasonable. Customer service was outstanding. Located off Sherman Way in Reseda. I've been to their other location in West LA and had work done there but unfortunately they closed that location. So I called and ask some questions and got a quote to get a bike hitch installed on my car. They had my info already in their system from the other location. So I set up my appointment and when I got there they started working on it. They do get busy at times and you would have to wait but luckily they weren't busy at the time I was there. Both of the guys there were great and helpful. They have an area where you can sit and wait. Overall a great place for your hitch needs. They know their job well. I recommend them. read more

Fast, professional and friendly are the gentlemen that work at Eckharts at this location. It was a show watching the installation of my trailer hitch as it was what seemed like a choreographed performance of measuring, cutting, grinding, welding and painting to watch (if you are into this sort of thing) otherwise you can just sit and relax in their air conditioned waiting room and wait until your vehicle is done. I had a very good experience working with Brian and his team getting a hitch installed in our 2023 chrysler pacifica sport. This van is an adaptive van with a side entry ramp by Braun Mobility so the install was more complicated than Eckharts let on. They were ready for me right at my appointment time and quickly got to work. It took hours instead of days like everyone else quoted. Also the price is unbeatable especially considering the expertise compared to a standard dealer service center. If i ever add a hitch in to future vehicles so was always taken here. read more

Be careful when they spray the hitch before installation that overspray doesn't get all over your vehicle

I needed a brush guard custom mounted on my 2005 Mitsubishi Montero. The brush guard was not designed for my car. They welded 4" cross bar to the brush guard and custom mounted on to my front tow hooks. They painted the new bar and all the welds and bolted it securely to where it feels permanent. It came out fantastic. The attention to detail and professional approach was spot on. Add to that a well organized and clean shop and they should get 6 stars if I could. read more

I just came from Exhart where they tried to rip me off ( probably going in there as a single woman) I made an appointment to get a towing hitch added onto my 2015 Acura RDX. I had spoken to them several times mentioning I was using it for a boat. I arrive this morning at 10:28 for my 10:30 appointment. I start confirming the price with the gentleman and he said oh you wanted the electric added too? ( by the way thats standard when adding a towing hitch they go together) he said that will be another $220, he wanted to say $290 but because of the "miscommunication" he'll take $70 off and only charge an additional $220. This didn't seem right and I quickly confirmed my intuition with a male friend who works in mechanics. I argued with the man stating it was not okay what he was doing and he then said if you don't want to pay me cash I won't add the hitch because you are going to challenge the charge. I'm extremely disappointed and Insulted. But there is always a happy ending. Next week Uhaul is doing what was supposed to be done today for half the price! Look at the picture at the estimate. Terrific experience. The Reseda guys added a 2" receptor hitch to our Acura wagon so I could mount a Saris Model 4412 ("Freedom") 2-bike rack. I had made an appointment for 8 AM. I arrived 7:50 AM. They took me right away. I walked to nearby Athenian Grill for a tasty breakfast burrito, and returned at 9:15 AM to find everything completed. It was not cheap ($412) but I figure I paid not for an hour's labor and materials, but for decades of experience and professionalism. Well worth it. I inquired about a discount for cash but they said no. That makes sense--they are a repair shop so any work done on a car has to get recorded. Plus, it's more honest. Took me longer to crawl back over the Sepulveda Pass in morning work traffic than for them to have installed the receptor...life in Los Angeles... read more

My Vader has a center exhaust system which does not allow for a hitch system in the rear for my bike rack. Booo!! Another one of our cars that can support a hitch is lowered and a normal hitch would not support the rack either. Let me tell you. I searched all over for a place that can customize and weld the hitch into place. Zero luck in the OC without paying over $450. This place was recommended after sending out a SOS over FB looking for a reputable place. Truth is, this place is Amazing. Total hidden gem, old school style. In about an hour they were able to get us up and ready with a beautuful flawless hitch on a lowered car. Huge thumbs up because we can go riding again. Everyone here was super nice and very professional. Price was reasonable for the part and the labor involved. Located out in the Valley. Plenty of food around to that you can walk too while you wait. Writing these guys a long overdue review. We've had them install multiple tow hitches on different vehicles. Most recently on our X3 and Glk350 SUVs. Both vehicles were involved in rear end crashes and both times the hitch saved the car/occupants from major damage & injury. The x3 was hit by a drunk driver going over 100 mph on the freeway (we were going about 70, so a 30mph speed differential) with a motorcycle carrier on the back, and deflected the impact energy to the side. The glk was hit with a Thule bicycle rack and also absorbed almost all of the energy. Both were inspected post-crash and there was zero frame damage to the vehicles. Both of the other cars were totaled. In summary, getting a hitch from these guys is not only functional, it can also help reduce damage in the unfortunate event of a collision. read more

That's $300 cheaper than those other places that have to order the hitch from a manufacturer who made them overseas. All hitches made in the USA. 70+ years in the game boys and girls, no amateurs here. I have 2019 Jaguar F-Pace, not an easy install, these guys asked me to drop off at 8 AM, ready by 11:20 AM when I called back. Damn...hitch looks good and I can now pull up to 2000 pounds. I still don't know what I'm going to pull but damnit, I'm pulling something manly, and big or loud, maybe my wife will let me buy something cool. read more

I had a hitch installed, looks good but I hope the bolt in the center is attached to the frame, from below it looks like it is bolted into the floorboard. 2nd, my trailer wiring wasn't lighting up properly, so I asked Brian to check it out, of course it was a $90 diagnosis. When they called to say it was working okay, I was told there was nothing wrong with it, and he pressed the connection together forcefully. It worked and told me to sandpaper the connection inserts. But to charge that much of advice for $90. My loss. read more

I have a trailer hitch on my GMC Acadia with a 2" receiver, and a bike rack with a 1 1/4" part that I wanted to fit onto it. They custom welded me an adaptor piece, complete with an additional piece so I could still lock it to my car. From phone call to job completion, it was a matter of hours. Brian was friendly, down to earth, knowledgeable, and creative in the solutions he suggested when I first arrived. Very straightforward with the pricing and various options he suggested. When I returned a couple hours later to pick up the adaptor, Mike was super nice and walked me through what they had made for me, how to put the adaptor and the new lock on, and made the whole process very easy.
