I am a hat person, but my fedoras are the hats closest to my heart. I have a couple dozen, vintage and new. When JFK went hatless at his 1960 inauguration, fedoras were yanked out of mainstream fashion. That's too bad because they look infinitely superior to baseball caps. Sought Eclipse out since my old DT fave closed to make room for a new condo. Was very happy w/ great selection of panamas. Broke tradition and bought a soft brown colored hat from a German owned Co. making hats in Eqyadore. It is super high quality, the price was good (not a cheap purchase) and the fit was nothing less than perfect. Sharon and Diego at Eclipse are so welcoming and helpful. They saw that I left my dog in the car and invited her in for a bowl of water. There was hot tea for the customers and they treat you like a friend. They have a large selection of hats and patiently helped me find the perfect one for a gift. They also repair your hats. This is a rare find! An artisan and restorer, Sharon has talent and an eye for style and is a perfectionist when it comes to a hat. She knows her stuff. She renovated my Dad's 1950s hat. I am so pleased with it. She cleaned it (it had years of dirt and was stained) and sourced new ribbon and redid the inside too! Nice collection of hats, but very rude and disrespectful staff. The only hat shop in the area which I think is the reason why the owner (or a staff member) feels free to treat customers however she wants. When I went into her shop, at first I thought she was joking with another customer when she told them that their dog farted and that they need to leave the store.... My son (7 year old) liked a flat cap so we took it and were looking for a Fedora for me which was the main reason for our visit. While looking at the fedoras the lady suddenly took the cap from my son and put it back on the stack of hats. Unfortunately I didn't take this very serious and I ignored it, but I wish I had not and had left that store right then and would have had a better day. She then gave me a couple fedoras to try on. She said that the one of them looked good on me hence she's going to sell it to me at a lesser price. The price of that particular hat was a bit high while it also felt a bit loose around my head with the crown sitting on top of my head, so I asked her if she could give me the same discount on the other hat instead. Her response to my request was that I cannot afford to wear these hats and suddenly grabbed the hat and pushed me out of the store. (not forcefully but very disrespectfully by tapping on my back and directing me towards the door). And closed the door behind us! I was speechless of her rude attitude wondering how could someone treat people like this? I wonder how the other people in the store felt about what she did... Bottom line, if this were to be only hat shop on earth I would not go there nor recommend it to anyone. Very rude and disrespectful... terrible experience. Looking for the perfect hat to provide coverage from the Hawaii sun and on a recent trip to see family near Seattle, found Eclipse hats online. After reading all the reviews, and Sharon's responses, decided to give her a call today, just before the shop opened, to decide whether or not an hour long trip up the 5 was worth it. After speaking with Sharon for one minute, I knew I made the right decision and headed to the shop. Sharon was great! She showed me a variety of styles, tried on many, and found two perfect hats. However, then I was left with a choice between two Stetsons, one felt and one straw. What a dilemma! So,... This is a REAL hat shop -not some touristy place with cheapo hats. Yes, they have hats for all budgets, but their selection is well-curated and every hat is a good one. I'm a hat guy, and was very impressed with their knowledge of hats. They did not try to sell me the most expensive hat, but really worked to find me a hat that suited me. She spent a solid 30 minutes with us helping my husband find the perfect hat for him. When he settled on a gorgeous hat which needed some special care, Sharon immediately realized it was not the right hat for him based on his lifestyle and directed him to an equally beautiful, albeit slightly less expensive, hat.
