I usually don't leave reviews but what happened to me needs to be documented. I brought my tiny not even 2 year old cat to Eco Deco for the first time since she showed lumps on her belly which I wanted to have checked. My cat showed no signs of pain or discomfort, was eating fine, so I needed to know what these lumps meant. The front desk girls were very friendly and arranged a examination. When done, they charged me $ 1,400 + even with a 10 % discount for paying in cash. It is the first time I went to a vet, so I had no clue but did think it was kind of high. All blood tests and other tests showed negative which I was happy for. After about 1 week I received a phone call from the doc saying it looked bad and she had cancer with metastasis which had to be removed. He wanted to make an appointment to discuss. After this shock, I consulted other different vets for a second and third opinion. The max one other vet charged was $ 500 for all exams which came back benign. My cat was given antibiotics which made the lumps disappear. I went to Eco Deco and spoke with the manager about mu experience and asked to appeal the outrageous bill but she got rude and refused. We were looking to give her a comfortable end of life. Just some pain meds and a comfortable last few days. This vet told us it would cost us $950 for tests. We made it clear, we were not there to spend money on tests. He got insulted, gave us a hard time, and in the end did nothing. In the end felt it was all about the money. Not the pet or owner. I had such a pleasant experience here. We are in Florida seasonally. My 16 year old Cockapoo started having problems with in continence. The staff was very friendly , considerate , kind and helpful. Dr. Val was knowledgeable and spent time discussing my concerns. After some blood work and a urinalysis it turns out Maggie is doing pretty well for her age, but perhaps in the beginning stages of kidney disease. He prescribed a renal support dog food that she actually loves! Two days later no accidents and she's eating well! Contrary to some of the reviews I read he did not order any extensive testing or treatment. I love that they show you a treatment plan and are open to discussion about what you may want or not want to do for your pet. I did not feel any pressure. I recently had the privilege of entrusting the care of my beloved cat to the incredible team at Eco Deco for a femoral head ostectomy procedure, and I cannot express my gratitude enough for the exceptional care they provided. Having just moved to SoBe and leaving our Vet in Egdewater, finding a new Vet in the area wasn't our easiest task, let alone having to find one urgently due to our cat appearing to be in such pain with walking, that we could not wait for a routine appointment, so we chose the closest one which was Eco Deco and we're so grateful we did. We did have to pay $110 for the urgency (if you see this review a couple years from now please do not use this price reference, prices are subjected to change like every other costs in life), this charge is normal, they are running an emergency/critical care equipped-hospital, not Humane Society. Dr. Val and Nurse Stephanie evaluated our cat, diagnostic exams were done promptly and showed he had fractured both femoral heads, they then performed what could have been done at that moment which was bladder expression and enema (cat could not go to bathroom due to pain of that position), and surgery was done the next day with Dr. Gorostiza (ortho surgeon). The hospital is equipped to perform surgeries so we didn't have to go somewhere else, making another appointment etc. Throughout the process, our cat was given appropriate medications to ease his pain and suffering. The surgery itself was a success, thanks to the skillful hands of Dr. Gorostiza. For recovery, we went back twice a week for laser therapy, in addition to having to redo the staples twice/be put on second round of antibiotic because our mischievous cat doing his mischievous things that reopened the wound and got infected, and everyone, I mean everyone, handled him with the utmost care. We wholeheartedly trust Eco Deco for future needs of our babies and cannot recommend them enough. read more

I wish it could be zero stars and a skull and crossbones. I had been waiting to write this review because I wanted to ensure that I did not make a review based on the emotions of losing my dog due to their misdiagnosis and negligence. If this place were a hospital for people they would closed due to malpractice. I brought my beloved dog Alice in for a check up as she was coughing and generally uncomfortable. At the time I specifically asked Dr Val is there anything, literally anything I need to address or get a second opinion. He confidently explained that she had viral pneumonia and would be fine. She died the next day in their care after I brought her back n the morning, afternoon, and the died in the late afternoon treatment in an oxygen chamber to her "pneumonia". From what I gather she had a heart condition that was undiagnosed - and which is treatable to a point where they can have their lives extended up to 24 months. While I cannot ascertain she would have lived that long, I can tell you her last 24 hours were very uncomfortable and I would rather have put her down than allow her to suffer. This place has/had a sign that offers discounts for positive reviews on Google or Yelp. I don't know if it exists any longer because I haven't been back. And frankly I couldn't even drive by them on Alton Road. I had always gone on West Ave because of the guilt and sadness associated with trusting these people. They are untrustworthy, too busy to take care of animals and there are plenty of other places in Miami Beach to take your beloved pet. Do not take any animal you care for to Eco Deco. Because I live btwn Miami and LA, I needed to make an emergency appointment today and this is the closest vet near me. This is not my dog's normal vet and this was my experience here today. And now I see that this vet has 23 1-star reviews - makes complete sense. Please note that I don't use this platform often and when I do I usually do it to share GOOD reviews, not bad, but after my experience today I feel it's important to warn people about this vet. While the vet tech and front desk staff are wonderful, the vet himself deserves 0 stars. He is money hungry, arrogant, and thinks he knows more than he does. Energy is real my friend. You care more about money than you do about animals. I made the doctor and vet tech aware that my dog just had a full check-up with bloodwork and physical exam and a non-anesthesia dental cleaning at his normal vet less than three months ago. I explained that the only reason I am in the office is to check my dog's eyes because one seemed like it may be infected. The doctor ignored me and while my anxious pup was visibly distressed and crying he began telling me how non-anesthesia dental cleanings are not enough, trying to scare me by telling me that my dog is missing teeth. Which he is not. I pointed out to him that the tooth he believes is missing is just hidden behind the tooth next to it because his bite is misaligned. He then said "well that makes it even worse" and again tried to push a procedure on me. I told him that I will not be bringing my dog for a teeth cleaning procedure with anesthesia unless God forbid at some point he needs something else done and he will already be under anesthesia. To this the vet responded, "oh he will, eventually. And you can prevent an emergency situation by doing a teeth cleaning with us now." If this is not fearmongering and gaslighting, I really don't know what is. What kind of professional speaks like this to someone with a perfectly healthy animal who has a bit of eye discomfort from rubbing his face in the grass too hard? I started to feel very uncomfortable because clearly this vet is not in integrity. He then started asking me why I don't have him on year-round flea medicine. I explained that my dog has a sensitive system and doesn't respond well to flea meds in the past so because he has never had fleas in the three years I've had him, I only give him flea medicine in the summer, at the peak of flea season, just to be safe. And that I bathe him once every three weeks and make sure he is completely submerged in very soapy water for at least 10 mins - I've never seen even one flea in the bathtub. He tells me that that means nothing and that my dog probably has fleas and that's the reason his eyes are itchy. Is this guy for real? All to get me to buy their flea meds. Okay so first it's going to be my fault that my dog will need emergency surgery because I refuse to put him under anesthesia to get his teeth cleaned (when they are perfectly clean) and now his eye discomfort is because I don't have him on flea meds? With all due respect sir, you are talking to the wrong woman. I may not have your training as a veterinarian but I've had dogs for more than 15 years of my life and I call BULLSH**. This entire time my dog is visibly distressed and crying and he has yet to take a look at my dog's eyes. I ask if he can please focus on the reason I'm here which is to check my dog's eyes. Again I explain that that is the reason I'm here and that I don't need flea meds, I'm not here for a teeth cleaning, and that my dog is in perfect health (but for his eyes at the moment) and was very recently checked. He proceeds to flip him on his back to check his belly which totally freaked my dog out further. And points out a small hernia he has that has not changed in size in the three years I've had him and then starts palpating his belly. Upsetting my dog further as most dogs don't like being on their back at all, much less in the hands of a stranger. Still no attention to the issue - his eye. As the vet started another lecture, I'd had enough and that's when I left. I offered to pay for the check-up but he did not accept. I got my dog because of the front desk staff here three years ago in a very serendipitous situation and I'm forever grateful for that. But we will never be back and I urger you to pick someone else. I wholly recommend Dr. Ted Sanchez at Silver Bluff Animal Clinic. It's not on the beach but I will never pick ease of location again over patient care. Dr. Val, I'm sure you cared very much about animals when you started - you must have to have gone through so many years of schooling. Doctor Val saved 2 of my dog's lives!!!!!!! My baby went in for emergency surgery yesterday to remove a blockage in her small intestine. The surgery was 7000 dollars at another animal hospital. Doctor Val did it for half the price, and took FAR better care of her. Her father (my other dog Ruger) had the same issue as a puppy 4 years ago, and Doctor V took care of that as well. The staff at Eco Deco are all amazing and truly love animals. My dogs have been coming to this location for 5 years. Doctor Val has taken care of my dogs: Daisy, Lou, Ruger, Sharshie, and Shaina. Doctor V and the Eco Deco staff are a family you can trust! Any 1 star (or below 4-5 star) reviews on this clinic are negligent pet owners, OR did not follow the doctor's instructions. The worst vet in Miami Beach, a year ago I went to them to get the rabies vaccine for my dog, they made me pay, given a document in which they said they had done it. A year later animal services sent me a ticket because they hadn't sent it to them, when I went to them we called ECO DECO together to send proof of the vaccine given to them and they admitted that they had never had it Done. Not to mention the fact that I stopped going to them because the last time I brought my American bully, which I muzzled, they were not able to visit him because they were scared and told me to come back with the dog sedated. obviously they made me pay for the visit. My dog had surgery to remove a mass which I was "pushed" to having the surgery by Dr. Val (mass had tested benign 2x) and my dog had complications during the surgery which were not disclosed to me and after I went home with her 2 days later had to take her to the emergency room. She has kidney damage, all from the surgery. Thankfully the tumor biopsy was benign. So I was pushed to a surgery that my dog didn't really need after all. Not to mention the over $8k bill and eco deco would not even comp a follow-up blood test to monitor her kidney condition post surgery. I am only a block away and was only requesting a quick evaluation and referral elsewhere if need be. It was hours before closing and there was no appearance that they were busy. no advice and even less compassion was shown. My previous experience had been very poor with this vet and so I sought services elsewhere in the past. I returned only because of the crisis nature of the situation and proximity. I brought my dog to this clinic and had to leave because they were running minimum 45 minutes behind schedule. I was never alerted to the delay. I rescheduled for the next day, called to confirm they were running on time,and still had to wait one hour before the doctor finally saw my dog. Once I got to the clinic they asked for my dogs past medical history, which likely would have been more efficient to have asked prior to my appointment. Finally, while they say due to Covid only one pawrent with a patient at a time they still let the other pawrents wait in the waiting area, which totally defeated any social distancing practice. He ordered a lot of unnecessary tests to get $1900 from me. The cat spent half a day in the clinic and then he got worse. During the examination, the doctor said that $1900 was the amount for the entire treatment including hospitalization of the animal, but it turned out that it was only tests. The result is that the cat spent half a day in the clinic. He was given unnecessary tests and was not diagnosed. After the drip, the cat became worse. This is not a veterinary clinic!!!!! I have had dogs my entire life, so obviously I have been to many Veterinarians. Dr. Val and his Hospital Administrator, Veronica are the best. I took my great dane, Mako here for all his needs until he passed unexpectedly. Dr. Val was able to provide me closure at the end, which my family and I needed. I recently adopted a new dog and was extremely thankful that they were open for in-patient visits. We all have to be patient and appreciate that they are considered essential workers and are working during this difficult time. I felt so safe!!! All the staff are wearing masks, they sent a questionaire about Covid exposure, they take everyones temperature and are strict about social distancing in the hospital. Didn't come here since years ago they told me that my dog had a tumor (dog was 2 years old) and they needed to operate him urgently. Thank god I took him somewhere else for a second opinion and it was none of what they told me, in the end. Now after years, I went there to get the flee control by mouth and they told me that since they haven't seen my dog in quite some time, then needed to visit him first. I'm sorry to update my review as the service at this office has really downturned in the last year. I had a great relationship the staff and office. I thank the office for their service and support in better times (see previous reviews) But my now senior dogs really needed support, the office let us down multiple times. The headline here is that the office has become a factory. We no longer feel the care and concern that was the trademark at Eco Deco. The wait times are very lengthy and their bottom line is the only priority. After multiple conversations and complaints, I removed my pets from their practice. The final insult to the injury, immediate denial of a prescription for my dog that day. Then a passive aggressive letter of removal. The letter essentially took no accountability and seemed to send the message of "please do not come back". In fact, I was so upset by the letter I contemplated filing a complaint with the BBB. I am throughly disappointed and hurt by Eco Deco Vet change of practice and heart. However, it's time for a attitude change for the office and staff. read more
