Going there was the best decision . I had an horrific experience with my previous vet The Animal Pet House Clinic (see my review) so meeting Dr Freeman was like a breeze of fresh air . I have a senior pug that's very high maintenance with epilepsy and chronic respiratory issues . Not only is everyone at the clinic kind and super efficient getting my prescription together with my different pharmacies , but Dr Freeman really cares . She calls herself to check on my baby to follow up and to talk about the different treatment options . Furthermore you can feel they are not there to just take your money like some other vets are . Despite the actual visit been slightly higher then my previous vet, the rest of the treatments are significantly less expensive and they often only charge me for the visit as a follow up . I got a new cat last year and wanted to try a vet closer to home than the one I had been using. In addition, I have another cat that was having vague medical issues. I hit a dead end with my original vet and wanted a second opinion. Some folks at the animal shelter where I volunteer had good things to say about this vet, so I made an appointment. The woman who answered the phone was friendly and helpful. I was able to make an appointment within a few days of calling, and on the appointed day and time, off I went with my precious cargo. Anyone that has attempted a car trip with cats understands that the minute they get in the car, they start singing the song of their people. It's stressful and distracting, so the shorter the car trip, the better. Even with traffic, I was at the vet in 10 minutes; so far, so good! We were seen by the vet nurse almost immediately. I was impressed with her thoroughness! She spent at least 20 minutes with me taking a detailed history of both cats before Dr. Basto examined my little furballs. I really liked Dr. Basto - her approach to vet care is very reasonable! I really felt like we were having a dialog and making decisions together. She gave me some great advice regarding the vague medical issue, as well as tips for reducing my fat cat's weight. Even better - they called the following day, a Saturday, with blood work results! I was so pleased not to have to wait for that! Dr. Basto wasn't working, so a different vet made the call and was also very thorough! On Monday, Dr. Basto followed up to make sure I didn't have any questions or concerns. They are an expensive vet - I'm sure their overhead across the street from the beach is enormous. I'd like to share a story from September 2021.I had just inherited my mom's 11 year old yorkie after she passed away, the dog had no issues besides some allergies. I noticed he was a limping every so slightly one day (likely from jumping off the couch, wasn't that bad). I ran him up to my local vet in Surfside. Once in the examination room the techs whisked him to a back room where I immediately heard my dog let out a yelp like I've never heard even to this day. I'm sad to report my Dilly never walked again. It is with the utmost certainty this vet intentionally broke my dog's leg in an attempt to generate extra money during a slower covid time. I called the vet to inform them but no one cared. they denied all wrongdoing and suggested I bring him back, maybe he needs surgery. I assure you my dog's quality of life has never been the same. I've never been more disgusted and enraged by a vet as well as certain this was intentional . Do yourself and your dog a favor by staying far, far away from this place. any opportunity I get I share the story of my poor Dilly having his leg broken beyond repair because these horrible greedy people are sick. This place should be shutdown so if you ever had a bad experience too please share. Our animals deserve better. We take our animals to the vet to get better, not to be permanently crippled. We just got to Miami on Monday for a break from the NY cold and on Wednesday or dog Violet started shaking her head frequently and displayed signs of discomfort when we tried to look in her ear. On Thursday morning we call this animal clinic and they were so accommodating with us and squeezed her right in? Even without being an existing patient of their clinic. When we arrived we were greeted so warmly and Violet was able to go right in. The Vet tech and Dr Newman were so loving with our overly dramatic little havanese. They went above and beyond to nurture her and provide the care she desperately needed. I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone with a pet. We even pushed back our departure date so Violet can be seen by Dr Newman again to her follow up before we fly out of Miami. We found a gem of a place. I'm the son of a vet, so my standards are very high. I was more or less raised at my dad's clinic and have a sixth sense for veterinarians. I've never been inclined to leave a Yelp review until I met Dr. Carmona. Without going into too much detail, I'll just say I had recently moved to the area and was dealing with a sick dog who had a mystery GI ailment. We were visiting Miami with our two Yorkies. One of my dogs got very sick. He couldn't keep anything down and I was very worried and concerned we wouldn't be able to travel home. I called the Veterinary Wellness Center but they were totally booked for same day appointments. The receptionist said I could walk in but I may have to wait a bit. I said ok but 5 minutes later my phone rang and it was the receptionist letting me know they just had a cancellation. I was very impressed since I didn't give her my number. When we arrived the staff was very warm and friendly. Dr. Carmon gave us some treatment options and didn't try to talk us into running expensive tests. I took my 8 year old dog to see Dr. Carmona yesterday - what a great experience!! The two ladies in the office, Lauren and Daisy, were professional and helpful. Dr. Carmona genuinely seemed to care about my dog and was very affectionate with him. He was very thorough and took his time to learn as much about my dog as possible. You can tell he really loves his job! We live in Surfside and were able to walk a block to the clinic. HORRIBLE - run don't walk. Dr. Carmona is one of the worst vets I have met. I took in my dog as I thought he had a urinary infection plus a few minor other issues. Instead of just doing the test for an infection he sold me a package deal for several tests...this was my warning no 1. but I didn't listen to my instinct. So this included both a blood test and a urine test plus another test. The results came back negative, so he said. My dog was still showing the same symptoms so I knew there was something wrong. I decided to forward the results of the tests via email to my vet in New York who btw is fantastic. He indicated that the elevations in his blood result indicates that he has some kind of infection but that we had to do a culture to know exactly what kind. At this point knowing that my instincts were right and that Dr. Carmona had given me the wrong results, I call back Dr. Carmona and ask him and beg him to prescribe antibiotics that would address a UI infection. He refused and said that he needs to see the dog again before he can do anything because in his mind he still didn't believe that my dog had an infection. This would have been my 3rd visit for the same problem and I had already spent $450 with this clown who did absolutely nothing. He didn't even cure any of the other little issues that my dog had. I told him that I would rather go to a different vet if I have to pay another visit fee. At least with the new vet I knew I was going to get the antibiotics that Dr. Carmona refused to prescribe and my pet would get seen by a REAL doctor. How can he call himself a doctor if he cant even read a blood and urine test correctly? If I was not persistent and listened to Dr. Carmona's advise my dog would have been very sick by now if not dead. My dog is an old man and even small infections can grow into something big quickly. Fortunately for my dog I went to another vet, got the appropriate antibiotics and my dog is doing great now. And guess what all the other little issue got solved too. I would say don't waste your time and money going to this doctor who only thinks about making money but worse than that don't put you pet's life in danger. Ask yourself if you are willing to take that risk with your pet? I believe that Dr Carmona's reviews are fake because you cant be this bad and have no complaints at all. After I had proof that he was wrong he refused to take my calls and didn't even respond to my emails. Wow, the balls on this guy! Believe me I have been to a lot of vets, this one is one of the worst. I would give zero stars if I could. read more

Surprisingly enough my dog kept whining at the door when they walked out to get something and extra love when they walked back in. Prior to that they used to shake and cry .
