I've been to Rome a number of times. I've stayed in a number of different hotels and areas of the city. I prefer to stay outside of the hustle of the downtown area. And the Aurelia area is perfect. A short 5-7 km walk to the Vatican and the downtown.

The staff are extremely accommodating and kind. Everyone is a polymath - speaking 3+ languages.
The only reason I didn't give Ecohotel a 5 star rating . . . if you get a room facing the front of the property, it can be very loud - at all hours of the day and night. So, with that - ask for a room overlooking the beautiful green space on the back of the property . . . and, if you need to shell out an extra $10 for the quieter room - do it. It's a great place and I'm sure to be back - read more
