i stayed here for 9 days. everyone is very nice and accomodating from, security to wait staff and front desk and bartenders....super nice, friendly and helpful. there is a full bar, a gym, a pool, 2 restaraunts and a small gift shop on site. they offer shuttle service to and from the airport (they charge of course) and also shuttle service to other areas such as the vatican and downtown (for a fee of course) i paid extra to have buffet style breakfast each day. the breakfast there is ok..... there is a big variety of selection to choose from such as pastries, cereal, eggs, sausage, cheese ect. breakfast area is nice, clean and everyone is very attentive and friendly. near the bar in the evenings there is a pianist, nice touch. property is clean, well decorated for xmas, i felt very safe there. my room was nice, bed was huge and very comfortable, water ran hot. getting a cab is very easy and convienant, no issues at all there is an atm available and also the front desk can exchange american money for euros (very helpful) i did enjoy my stay here. only draw back is that the location is not near anywhere that is walkable. downtown rome and tourist spot is about 20 min away (on a good day) and that cab ride can cost you about 30$ usd one way (sometimes more) read more

This hotel was chosen as the place to stay one day prior to a cruise. While I have experienced places that I rate higher, this was not at all a terrible choice. I arrived about 8am and check-in isn't until 3 p.m. Beatrice was the person to assist me - she verified my travel documents, briefed me on the hotel amenities, explained the shuttle, put my luggage in the luggage room, looked to have my room expedited and let me know where I could wait. At noon my room was ready and I received a key. One of Beatrice's counterparts, whom I shall not name, wasn't as pleasant to work with. Their demeanor wasn't as helpful or pleasant. My roommate felt the same. We had to request a second key only to later discover the 2 keys were deactivated (I presume accidentally), after we were exhausted from a day of exploring. However, a third person assisted with correcting this issue. The hotel is about 20 minutes from the airport but I believe that my driver made it in about 15 minutes. It has a restaurant on-site for lunch and dinner and also a breakfast buffet which offers a 2-option buffet breakfast. There is a swimming pool, a small gift Shop which also sells passes for attractions and a shuttle that has 3 stops: the city center, The Coliseum and Vatican City. It is also host to a Conference Center. The overall decore is simple and elegant. There are lots of places to lounge which is great for socializing. I imagine that it was absolutely gorgeous when things were new and shiny, however, the current "aging" and ambiance gives it an old charm feel. The buffet breakfast is either Italian style - pastries, yogurt, cereal, toast, etc. or American style - includes the Italian options plus bacon, sausage, 3 styles of cooked eggs, pancakes, cheeses, smoked salmon, salad, fresh fruit, etc. And of course there are coffees, juices and water. The buffet is 7am to 11am and can be included with your reservation. Otherwise, the Italian style is 12 euros pp and the American style is 20 euros pp; this can be charged to your room or via credit card at the hostess counter. I found the menu to have a good selection and variety. Gvansta was working the days that I was here - she is nice and very patient especially when eager guests flooded the counter for check in. She remembered guests as they returned for subsequent dining. The remaining staff that helped with tables, bringing coffees, etc. were all very pleasant. The room itself was ok. The temperature was too cold for our liking. My efforts to adjust the heat and have house keeping assist didn't work out as we had hoped. Eventually, we settled with just turning it off completely. If the stay was longer, I probably would have sought additional assistance from the front desk. The room itself is modest with the basics and has a covered balcony adorned with 2 chairs and a table. The view was okay, mostly beautifully green grass and trees with buildings in the background. The bathroom is spacious. Overall I didn't find the place to be glamorous yet it has sufficient amenities, reasonable accommodations, mostly a good staff. It is airport accessible and the low-cost shuttle makes it attraction accessible. For a brief stay pre-cruise it met expectations and I would consider staying again under similar circumstances. read more

We're leaving for our flight back and asked front staff to call us a van. He saw our luggage and our kids. Taxi arrived and asked us it's just for 3 people? It was a small suv. This person in front staff clearly saw 4 large luggage, two strollers, two kids and 3 adults. It's 3 am and nobody is down here with us. My wife clearly requested for a van. Judging from the row of itchy bites my husband had after our stay they also may have a bedbug problem that they're not addressing. I really liked this hotel! Now, there are no amazing views unless looking at the pool is your thing, but the rooms were nice and spacious (although I think we got upgraded due to my fiancé's IHG status, so maybe our rooms were better than some of the others?) There are balconies to enjoy a cup of coffee outside in the morning, that you could make right in your room. There was also a safe and fridge, and I loved the scent of the shampoo and conditioner here, not to mention how amazingly soft my hair was after using the conditioner, odd to mention, right? But I liked it enough that I actually need to see if I can order it online, I liked it that much. Yeah, pretty sure I've never included this in a review before, lol. Our bed was comfy, we had a couch, we had everything we needed. Another thing we loved, like really really loved, was the breakfast!!! It's buffet style so of course not everything is great, but there were plenty of options so that you could find something. And, something we've never seen at a Crowne Plaza before, was Prosecco included in the buffet!!! Like, there are carafes of juice and bottles of water and bottles of Prosecco that you could help yourself to! Bottomless Prosecco and food? So amazing! If you didn't like the buffet style scrambled eggs, there were warm hard boiled eggs you could go for. I also loved the mozzarella and tomatoes with breakfast, something I'd never have for breakfast at home, or notice in a buffet, but when in Italy that was something I ate most days! We don't understand how not to get water all over the bathroom with these half shower doors in other countries, but that's probably our fault. There is shuttle service offered which is great. There is always a fee, but still nice that you don't have to book a cab and try to arrange things on your own. They had service to the airports, port for our cruise, and to go into the heart of Rome for the day. I'd stay here again if we were going back to that area! read more

Came to Rome and next to other cities on a Trafalgar tour. The People of the Tour and Hotel are the best. I refuse housekeeping if only in a hotel a couple days. I asked for something at the front desk we used up and then took 6 or 7 minutes to look at the convention center and pool (gorgeous) and we went up to the room. In that time they cleaned the room, refreshed the supplies, made the bed. Never anywhere in the world I have traveled have the staff been so responsive. We are loving the people of Italy and the accommodation at this hotel. 5 star breakfast too. Variety and service and well presented. Great job! read more

It's an okay place but the staff had obvious discrimination. We had friends who checked in at 10 am and got a room but when we tried checking in at 1 pm they did not. We also sent our laundry to get done at 8 am and it is 8 pm and still not done. This is one of the worst hotel experiences I have had in a while, all while paying too dollar prices. If you do not speak Italian they will pull every dollar they can out of you until you are dry. Look for a higher quality hotel who respects their guests time. Pool also opens at 10am and closes at 7 pm, which is way later for opening and way earlier for closing than many hotels in the area. Never again will ai attend this establishment. read more

I used an IHG free night certificate at the Crowne Plaza - St Peter's and honestly it was a disappointment. It was a complete waste of my cert and I really want it back. It's not in a great location. The first room we were assigned to was on the 5th floor overlooking the clay tennis courts and had noticeable, large stains in both the carpeting and the couch. I mentioned this to the hotel via email and a manager came up to offer another room on the same floor. The second room had laminate flooring, so no dirty carpet, but rather dust bunnies everywhere and more importantly, the A/C didn't work in the room. When we called down to report this, they told us it wasn't the 'season' to use A/C and sent up a (broken) fan. This was a strange response because our first (stained carpet) room had working A/C. In the end, it was only one night. I would not plan to stay there again in its current state. The rooms and furniture are sad and tired and definitely need updating. read more

The hotel is very old and poorly maintained/not updated. It is the worst Crowne Plaza I have ever seen or stayed. The staff were a mixed bag of awesome and horribly rude. I reserved a junior suite, which turned out to be two adjoining rooms... no suite and not even a separate entrance key for the second room. The hotel restaurant was mediocre food with rude and unhelpful staff. parking was a bumpy gravel lot. Charging for EV was available at an outrageous rate... over 100 Euros to fill a very small Kw car. The bed was hard as a rock with flat pillows, so no sleep either. The location description was completely misleading, as it is nowhere near St Peter's Basilica and the Vatican (miles away). And in fact, it is in a bad neighborhood with no sidewalks, other restaurants, or shops nearby (only schools, a military base, and a few apartments all around). All-in-all, it was awful! And outrageously expensive for what it was. Stay away! read more

We used our IHG Rewards to stay here 3 nights for our honeymoon. The bathroom has mold and stains on the tiles and green mold growing on the sink. The bedroom carpet is dirty and rooms smells. Would not walk barefoot on the carpet or bathroom if my life depended on it. I have stayed at motels in better condition than this dump. How do you have the audacity to charge 30,000 points a night for this trash?! You have ruined our honeymoon! I wouldn't send my worst enemy here. We recently spent 3 nights here. Yes it is an older hotel, but it is still fine for a few nights. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast buffet and Wi-Fi were included in our package. The Wi-Fi was better than most places we have stayed in Europe, but not great. The breakfast buffet was very good, but we didn't eat lunch or dinner here. One of Rome's better restaurants, Arturo all'Antica Aureliam is next door to the hotel and we ate there twice. read more

While here they were going through maintenance so it was a bit smelly in the halls and could be noisy. Great location if you want to stay far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We used the bus and taxi to get to downtown Rome and the Vatican. Decent breakfast spread. We were too busy sightseeing to use the pool. Rooms were decently sized. One big plus was they had a courtesy phone that you can take with you to the city and use for GPS and local calls. This was helpful as I did not have international data plan. read more

I am actually quite impressed by this Hotel & it's services. Even though I am a platinum IHG member, I will not be swayed by any loyalty schemes. On Check-in, the lady on reception was extremely helpful and was fluent in English. She gave us advice on what to visit around Rome on a map that she offered us, and also let us know timing of shuttle busses, metro busses & the local taxi situation. I think our timing in visiting was also perfect, as our floor had recently been upgraded. The room was nice & clean with all the amenities you would expect from a hotel. However, this hotel offered something different, like no other hotel I've yet seen around the world. On the bedside table was a cell phone which they offer their customers, which you can take out with you free of charge. It offers free unlimited internet, free local phone calls, plus free international landline & call phone calls to many countries across the globe - this feature came in very handy. The breakfast offers all sorts of food which was of high quality. The maid staff were also awesome, as after a long day of site seeing, we came back to the room to find our pyjamas neatly folded at the base of the bed. Well, we arrived to discover that this Crowne Plaza Hotel was outdated and had a horrible smell and because we had paid in advance, we were stuck. We were here 3 days before our cruise. Rooms are fantastic. Beds comfortable. We had a beautiful room overlooking the pool. Breakfast in am had an awesome amount of choices, even gluten free ones. The restaurant for dinner was fantastic, after a long day of travel we chose to eat at hotel on outside patio. Food was fabulous and service great! Inside had beautiful piano bar every night. Front desk staff are more than helpful and accommodating. The shuttle a huge savings to the heart of Rome. Some days we took a taxi, which runs around 10.00 Euros. read more

We stayed here for one night before taking a Mediterranean cruise. They have partnered with Celebrity and Princess cruises, and it's certainly convenient if you're taking a cruise to stay here. It is far from city center but there is a shuttle that takes you to city center for 2 or 3 euro. The decor in the hotel is a bit dated, and it has the feel of a 3-star hotel. Our room was clean and we didn't have any problems. Internet was 10 euro a day. We paid for the breakfast which was 18 euro a person for buffet style. It was seriously the most disgusting hotel breakfast I've ever had. I would not recommend spending your money on it. Overall, I would recommend for people staying the night before heading to Civitevecchia for a cruise the next day. Otherwise, you can probably find something better closer to the city. read more

when in Rome...I would definitely stay in this place again . minus one star for its location being away from the hustle and bustle of the city. first the check in..friendly staff, very helpful and courteous . elevator: cramped...most of the hotels we stayed at are. room: nice, clean, comfortable. a little warm for us so we slept with the windows open. I liked the firm bed..husband didn't. bathroom: clean, fully stocked with products, water pressure was good, towels were nice and thick. WiFi: free if u sign up for the free membership. breakfast: it was included in our package . otherwise it's 18.99€ for all u can eat. but if u buy it upon check in I think it's 13.99€. good selections of foods..bacon, weenies, eggs, beans, pastries, cheese and salami/ham. also a nice selection of beverages including juices, coffee, sparkling h2o. location: away from the main action. a taxi ride to the Basilica is anywhere from 10-15€. there is a bus station right outside of the hotel for 1€ good for 60mins. if u are brave..that's the cheapest way to go. read more

As far as IHG is concerned, HIE is like a 20 year old college girl, a little superficial and not terribly smart, but at least she looks good and smells great. Holiday in is like a nice thirty something gal that has really taken good care of herself, a little simple maybe, but that's not such a bad thing. Intercontinental is a rich middle aged lady that looks great, is well traveled, well dressed and has her own money. Now...Crowne Plaza is a late fifties chick, you can see some evidence of some beauty and class but it's long passed. She's sitting in the corner of a dimly lit, smokey bar sucking on a Virginia slim and drinking a dirty martini. She's a cougar, but she's not likely to find any prey any time soon...most likely another lonely night. That's pretty much our experience here in Rome. The shuttle is a good idea, but the schedule is poorly executed as to limit it's usefulness. An uber to anywhere you want to be is going to cost you €30. The halls are dark and dingy as are the rooms. The beds are surprisingly comfortable. The service is pretty bad, but it's pretty bad most places in Rome. The restaurant and bar are average at best. My advice? Unless you have a specific reason to stay here, get an airbnb in Trestevere. If you pay more that €100/night, you're paying more than it's worth. read more

We stayed at Crown Plaza Rome St Peters prior to our Mediterranean cruise . It's a pleasant surprise that the Celebrity Cruise Lines have a Desk with a representative to assist passengers staying at Crown Plaza prior to cruise . The room and bathroom was very clean . Ambiance is kinda old. Needs much work to update the property . Looks like management of these Hotel chain is not renovating and updating . We just recently stayed at the Crown Plaza San Pedro California and it's in xthe same condition. Sad to see it just die a natural death because of neglect. Price is quite reasonable . An improvement on the the looks and keeping the rate as is will garner more guest for sure. I'm sure there will be more positive reviews as well. read more

This is our first stay anywhere in Europe. The hotel was fine and the breakfast was wonderful. It's a little worn but not too bad. Pool area nice. The only thing we didn't understand was the whole lighting thing. We didn't know you had to put your key in a slot to make the lights work. This would have been good to know before I had to use the restroom. Maybe this is common in Europe. I'm sure I'll find out as we are moving north tomorrow. I am here with my wife but would recommend this to families. read more

I recently stayed in this hotel for a work event around a medical conference taking place there. The staff was friendly and helpful enough to assist with navigating taxis and directing us to major attractions. It was slightly on the outskirts of the city center and getting a taxi back from St. Peter's square was quite challenging. It's also not within walking distance to many things. The restaurant next to the hotel, Arturo's, was reasonably priced and delicious. I do have to comment on the cleanliness of the room. It was an older room and there were stains on the carpet and bedding. The inside comforter had stains as well. That was my main issue with this hotel. read more

Where do I begin. Don't spent $10 at this place. I would have been happier with a hole in the wall motel Over this place. 1st day scheduled a massage at their 'spa'. Paid for a deep tissue and got a speed rub. The therapist did nothing that qualifies as a Therapeutic Massage. Facilities were filthy. Smelled moldy. Wasted money. Got dinner at their garden restaurant. Haha. I should have known better. Get the 'buffet' for 25 euro. I would have eaten better at McDonalds. The fish tasted fishy , the pasta was mush and none of the food I tried I thought was edible Now it's 3 days later and I still can't keep food down. Was sick the entire 3 days. Spent most of my time in bed and in the bathroom. Said something to the staff and suddenly it's a language barrier and sorry sorry. My last day I was hoping to get some food in me and ordered some food off the regular Menu. Every time I asked what their soup was it was always the same. Reheated leftover vegetable soup. Grilled pork ribs, came out smothered in a salty ketchup laden sauce that covered the place. Scraped off as much as I could. The pork was saturated in salt and basically inedible. I made a complaint to the staff, sorry I need to pay for the food. I ate 2 bites. The rooms, beds are old , sheets did not smell clean and again anything I asked the staff for was not handled and everyone saying sorry. I can't wait to get back to the good ol' USA where I can spoil myself at A holiday inn express and Denny's. Worst travel experience ever.!!!!! Wasted trip to a beautiful city. Money and time poured down the drain. I'm sorry if I sound spoiled comparing Denny's gourmet good to what they served. Who're rates these hotels gets paid off. read more

My husband and I were very disappointed with our stay at this hotel, especially as platinum members. The staff of this hotel were so rude to us! It seemed like every time we asked a question we were annoying them. An example would be when my husband went to the front desk where it said cashier and asked to change a 50, the guy looked at us as said "what do I look like a bank?" Another example was when I ordered a pizza from the bar. I was brought out a pizza and other dish that I did not order. I told the bar tender I had not ordered that and he began to argue with me that I did. Simple customer service would have been just to say sorry and take it back. Finally he begrudgingly took it back with allot of attitude. On the hotels web site it says rooms have air conditioning. We'll ours was not working in a room so we called down and were told it was not allowed to have air conditioning after a certain time of year, even though we stayed at a different hotel in Rome the night before that had perfectly fine air conditioning. So we were pretty miserable in a hot room for the 2 nights we stayed here. It's funny though, the hallway sure had the air conditioning on... The shower in our room was dirty when we arrived and we had to wash it down before using it the first time. Also in the bathroom you could see into the ceiling where the wiring was and there was so much dirt and clumps of dust. The food at the restaurant downstairs was atrocious. We tried a few different things thinking the next time the food would be better, it was not. The WiFi is basically useless, it is so slow I would not even bother using it. At least it was free. Now for the positives. The beds in our room were very comfortable. The buffet breakfast was really good with a great selection. My family and I just returned from Rome where we spent 7 nights at this hotel. We loved it. Our room was super clean. The beds were incredibly comfortable. The shower had fabulous water pressure. The staff were all helpful and friendly. This hotel is not as close to the city as other hotels, but there are numerous ways into the city--hotel shuttle, a bus stop outside the hotel, or a taxi, all very cheap. The food in the restaurant was good. The breakfast buffet was a bit of a bummer-- runny scrambled eggs and cold sausage, but it's a buffet and that happens. There is a piano player in the bar every night. The wi-fi was iffy in the rooms but strong in the lobby. The best part of this hotel is the pool. Thank God for the pool as the weather was 100+ degrees with high humidity every day we were there! We highly recommend this hotel especially if you have children. Tried checking in early since we are part of the rewards program and they said they didn't care and were extremely rude. The hotel is a 30 minute drive from anything interesting in Rome which will set you back at least 30€ each way. Came back later to check in and they took forever. The wall plugs shorted out which made them almost useless. Around 7 am there was loud noises in the hallway, which would be understandable if it were guests, but no, housekeepers were being extremely loud throughout all the hallways (seems like intentionally waking people up) & yet they had no rooms ready for rewards members. Additionally there was a very loud rattling that I could hear from the room which actually woke me up, I called the manager & they asked if they could send someone up to see what it was, I agreed however no one ever came and the noise didn't stop. So between housekeeping banging into walls in the hall & the rattling YOU WONT BE ABLE TO SLEEP HERE. At breakfast we stood at the hostess table for 5 min before she acknowledged us, but since an italian family had arrived at the time she was about to help us she sat them instead. Then she sat us at a dirty table with used coffee cups and walked away (even though there were plenty of clean empty tables. The server brought coffee and never came back, but we saw other people able to order pancakes and additional food instead of the standard Italian buffet which was mediocre at best. Unless you're Italian, don't stay here, the staff is racist, rude and not accommodating. read more

Disappointed in this hotel. It's clean but you can tell it's an old hotel. But happy with how clean it is. We have a group of 8 people staying so we booked 2 rooms. One room ac doesn't work and it can get a little warm in the rooms during certain times. Overlooked that. They don't have good shuttle services. Ok use taxi cab service instead. The hotel isn't close to anything so you spend a lot on taxi services. Some staff is great but some seem unwelcoming. We have teenagers and two younger kids with us. One of the biggest reasons we booked this hotel is because we wanted the indoor pool to relax in after long days of sightseeing. We got ready went down stairs to find the pool. A staff member seeing we have kids kindly directed us to the pool. When arriving at the pool we were informed that kids are not allowed to swim in the pool. No one under 16. This SHOULD be posted on the site where they advertise that they have indoor and outdoor pools. The hotel seems to be anti-children. With how far away from everything the hotel is had we known that they didn't allow kids in the pool we would have not booked this hotel. Now my kids are sad that they can't swim after they waited all day to and so are we. I gave them 2 stars for the rooms cleanness and because some staff is nice and helpful. read more

This is a review to my experience at this Crowne Plaza I stayed in April 2015. Overall, my experiences were great. The rooms were clean, beds were comfy, and their breakfast was great! The staffs were very friendly, although we had to either get a new card (because I can get clumsy sometimes and drop the card), or renew the Wifi. The pianist allowed me to play a song on the piano, and he was pretty chill. Other than some Wifi issues, I think that this hotel was very good, and if I ever visit Rome again (which I probably will), I'm definitely staying here. read more

So our family stayed here for 10 nights and I must say the shuttle ruined the experience for us. The driver is the most unfriendly gentleman and the system they have is the worst! We waited 30 minutes for the shuttle to arrive downtown at 9:15 pm he shows up at 9:30 in the small bus to only fit less than half the people that were waiting on a Friday night!!!!! So you leave your guests curbside when you never told them they needed to have a ticket for return even when asked. Clean rooms, nice hotel and some at the hotel seem to care but you need to fire the shuttle driver or give him some training on customer service. People that use your service would like consistency and someone that will actually chat with them instead of talking on the phone to his family! He is not in the right job. You need someone that actually cares that your customers are having a great time!!!!! At least pretend to care. I hate to be the burden of bad news but this hotel needs some updating. A facelift to be exact. The staff (not all) are rude. The rooms are average, a bit dingy and the halls are dark. The shuttle service to the main square is not free. Be prepared to pay both ways. As customers, this service should be complimentary. We stayed at this hotel (3 nights) because it was assigned to us. My family and I are doing a Mediterranean cruise (we leave tomorrow morning) and this is closest to the port, as per our cruise line (NCL). That being said, I do not recommend this hotel. However, I would like to compliment a waiter in the restaurant (recommended by front desk) just outside of the hotel. Alexander Valentine was very attentive and warm with our family. He made us feel welcomed and wished us a good time in Italy. Perhaps with a little TLC and a few courses in customer service, this hotel can rebound. Until then, I will research a different hotel when we return to Italy in the future. I'll give this Crowne Plaza 2 stars, one for providing a bed to sleep on and the other as a sign of hope for much needed change. read more
