If it were possible to have 0 stars, that's what this trash hole would get. So I needed a hotel in this area that was pet friendly with big truck parking that was cheep. Well, I guess you really do get what you pay for. I called ahead to make the reservation and talked with Caleb. Nice enough young man. This Hotels.com this hotel advertises "Pet Friendly" however he explained that the owner is not a "dog person" and only 3 rooms are designated as pet rooms, by coincidence they are also smoking rooms. We are NOT smokers, but it was all we could find to I figured it couldn't be THAT BAD!! I was wrong. We move into the room and discover the smell of smoke is so strong, after a short time my husbands eyes are blood shot and my eyes are burning. I decided I was too tired to leave so we would stay at least the first night. We played with our little 2 pound puppy and laid down to rest before putting her in her crate for the night. My husband looks up and the pup is chewing on something. Apparently she found a cigarette butt under the table and was chewing on it. He took it away and she moved on the other adventures, but a few minutes later she is falling over, whining, can't walk, looks like she is having a seizure. We find and rush her to an emergency Vet, it's an hour away and the whole drive there, we think she is dying, we fight to keep her awake and conscious. At the vet they examine her, we tell them about the butt she found and they decided to drug test out baby!!! Positive for THC!!! Now my husband and I are professional drivers, you can bet we don't have that crap around us, so she got high off that "butt" left in this dirty nasty hotel!!! After a pretty hefty vet bill and some time to come down off her high, she is fine but that doesn't change the fact that this is the nastiest dirtiest hotel I have ever been in!!! My baby won't go back!!! Do not stay here, this place is NOT pet friendly!!! UPDATE; I went to get my stuff out of the room this morning, took some pics of the condition of things in case I needed them and went to the office. The people in the office were wonderful. They were so sorry for everything we went through, have a full refund and seemed truly concerned and apologetic. read more

This place is a DUMP! Disgusting. The 'white' towels were worn thin and dingy and even had blood stains. The mattresses were old and uncomfortable. Nothing has been updated since it was first built. Probably the worst place I've ever had to stay. Gross we will never be back. read more

I stayed in room 156 from May 11-12 (Sat-Sun); check-in/out times are 3pm/11am, respectively. I arrived at around 4:30pm and checked in with Amber. They had gotten my reservation correct (non-smoking, balcony, two full beds). I was told one of their housekeepers was out and the remaining housekeeper was behind schedule and Amber wasn't sure if she'd gotten to my room yet. I told her that I understood and I went up to my room. It was obvious the room hadn't been cleaned and from the looks of it the previous occupant had issues. The floor was COVERED in food crumbs. The microwave had bits of food on/in it. There were two large trash bags next to the dresser filled with all kinds of food-related garbage, plus a couple of food containers on the dresser. Curiously, there was a box from a bar of "Dove" soap IN THE DRESSER. The table had something spilled on it and there were stains on the seats. Both beds were unmade. There was trash on the nightstand, and in the nightstand drawer there were ten pennies, a half-drunk bottle of Pepto Bismol, and a partially used box of anti-diarrheal pills. The coffee pot had cold coffee and used grounds in it. There were no towels or washcloths. The sink had soap residue in it. The mirror was covered in speckles. The bathroom floor had a squashed dead spider right at the doorway and bits of unidentifiable "stuff" on the floor around the toilet. There were LARGE amounts of hair, soap scum, and dirt in the bathtub and on the shower walls. The two light bulbs in the ceiling were both splattered with something dark. There were no hotel consumables. I understood the reality of only one housekeeper so this didn't bug me. I went to the office, confirmed that the room hadn't been cleaned, and politely requested that it be cleaned next. Amber was understanding and immediately went to find the housekeeper. I sat outside to wait. A few minutes later Amber returned and told me my room would be cleaned next. About 45 minutes later Amber told me my room was ready so up I went. SOME issues had been resolved but MANY had not. The room was generally tidy; things were where they were supposed to be, the beds were made with fresh linen, the trash was mostly removed, the floor had been vacuumed (except around the edges and other tight areas), and there were fresh towels and washcloths. But EVERYTHING else remained. I returned to the office and asked Amber to have the bathroom cleaned. I showed her the pictures and she again went to get the housekeeper. A few minutes later the housekeeper arrived at my room, looking inexplicably terrified. She had inadequate cleaning supplies with her but got to work. Ten minutes later she asked me if it was suitable. Most of the hair and dirt was gone from the shower/tub and she had rinsed out (but not WASHED) the coffee maker, but there was still a lot of obvious issues. Rather than continue to hassle her I let it be; I could deal with the rest on my own. More discoveries: Although the TV is HD-capable, the cable TV connection is SD only with no channel guide. The AC unit wouldn't turn on, but I discovered a thermostat (which appears to do nothing) and a light switch with a label that says "HEAT". Turn it on and the outlet for the air conditioner powers up. The light above the sink turns off and on all by itself. There was a towel rack outside the bathroom but there's no bar for the towels. The heater below it was hanging off the wall. The deadbolt on the door was misaligned so it was impossible to deadbolt the door. The lamp on the table near the air conditioner was unplugged. I awoke at 8:30am and took a shower. The water pressure is TERRIBLE, barely more than a trickle even with both faucets fully open. The shower drain was not working well; by the time I finished my shower the water was ankle-deep. The hotel offers a free breakfast which included a small pastry assortment, fresh waffles, cereal, coffee, tea, and apple/orange juice. I didn't sample the coffee or tea but I soon learned that the fruit juices were being watered down a LOT. The hotel offers free wifi but I did not use it. So, what's GOOD here? The beds are clean and very comfortable, and the hotel was quiet. I was expecting traffic noise and screaming children (and adults) at all hours of the night, but got none of that. Although the water PRESSURE is poor, there's plenty of hot water. Amber was exceptionally friendly and helpful, not just to me but to others that were coming and going. Although clearly overworked, she always had a positive and professional attitude even with patrons who were (IMO) a little too "abrupt" with her. No pun intended, but Amber is the jewel here. She was always dealing with patrons, answering phones, stocking the breakfast area, giving driving directions, checking people in/out, looking for housekeeping, and probably fifty other things that I didn't see her do, all with complete professionalism and courtesy. read more

Where do I start with this place?? we got our room key and stepped into one of the dirtiest and nastiest rooms I have ever experienced! The tub was filthy with dirt and hair in it, the carpet was gross, and the wash clothes were used. The only thing That was good is the man at the front desk. He was very nice and apologetic. I wouldn't recommend this place but it was quite a wild and thrilling experience! To put it simply, we were haunted at this Econo Lodge and I kind of want to make shirts that promote this place as such. A friend and I were forced to stay the night here after getting stuck in an ice storm in the mountains, in the middle of nowhere NY and at night. Essentially, we were blindly driving and this Econo Lodge lured us in by being the only place open. The driveway is very long with creepy lighting and reminded me heavily of The Shining. It appears the property used to be some golf course or banquet center? There's a very old abandoned restaurant on the property as well. Anyway, back to being haunted. My friend and I just laugh and shrug off how gross the room/building was because we just needed to sleep for a few hours. Even though we were the only cars parked outside the building, we both felt we definitely were not alone. There were a handful of incredibly strange noises coming from all directions. A quick and sharp chirp coming from the radiator, various pipes creaking, fans buzzing and scratches from the walls (probs bugs). Once we turned off the lights these noises began to morph together and strange sensation overcame me that was mainly terror. The best way to describe these auditory and visual hallucinations was like a bad acid trip. I don't remember actually falling asleep and I still don't know if I did sleep or what exactly happened. When we got up the next day I saw a large and obvious scratch on my shoulder and had broken blood vessels all along the scratch. My friend had welts on their face (definitely spidey bites). When I explained to them about this wild acid-like trip I experienced, they became wide-eyed and stated they had an extremely similar experience. However, they woke up and went to the bathroom and felt this sensation along with flickering lights, and a cold front. A random ice storm lured us in as prey at the Econo Lodge and I'm 100% here for that spooky shit. I never get spooked like this and I'm honestly pretty impressed. If you're okay to deal with a dirty room and bug bites and wanna get spooked, this is the place! Just don't touch anything and burn your clothes afterward or whatever. I won't be back. read more

Please follow all other reviews for this place. There has to be other places you can stay in this small town. Whatever the price for another place is worth it. This place is one step above camping on your own. And I mean one small step. I would assume there are less bugs and smells while camping over staying one night here. There is no conditioner for your shampoo, you have to ask for more than 2 towels for a 4 person reservation, you have to have the staff search vacant rooms to see if they have a "spare" hair dryer, and when you try to use it you end up blowing the fuse. The staff is friendly and tries to accommodate as best they can but the owner literally is milking this place as best they can for your hard earned money. So in short, Best to skip this place and stay in your car for the night or drive to a better place. read more

Don't come here with your pet. There's only 3 rooms for people with pets even if you have a service dog & they're disgusting. I wouldn't even want my dog walking on that nasty carpet. The smell is terrible and the rooms are very old and outdated. Find another spot for your own good. read more

We needed to find a quick place to stay on our way to the mountains about a month ago. I was excited because they had a room available. My children and I checked in and found several silverfish bugs on the floor. I figured no big deal...it is in the middle of a grassy area. I pulled down the bedsheets and checked under the mattress as I always do and there were SILVERFISH bugs all over the mattresses. They did refund my money, but it took 72 hours and no one even apologized or said they would address the problem....I was horrified!!! read more

My Worst Nightmare I recently had to travel to Hornell NY for a graduation and needed accommodations in the area and booked a room at Econo Lodge Hornell. When I made reservations I specified that I neede a nonsmoking room as I was traveling with three small children. When we arrived we were checked in room 124 which was non smoking. The room smelled like a smoke box the second we opened the door. The smell was so strong that we quickly exitted as my children began to complain of the heavy stench. I returned to the office I requested a non smoking room. Initially, the attendant stated that they were no other rooms available. She then stated that I needed to give her a few minutes as she was helping another customer. I told her that I would go grab some food for my children and return. Upon our return she assigned us room 116. Once I opened the door I notice a grayish coating on the tv stand. My initial thought was that it was wear and tear. Once I entered and turned on the light I saw that it was dust and there was a rancid smell coming from the carpet. I was disgusted. I immediately began inspecting other areas of the room. The room was in no condition to receive guest. Aside from being unkept (dirty walls, plaster on the walls, carpet stains and terribly cuffed up furniture) the bathroom was unclean. The tub was filthy and moldy. The towels were dingy. The blankets were stained. When I returned to the office to tell the attendant that I was unable to stay there she seemed unbothered. When I explained the conditions of the towels here response was "I don't know why hotels use white towels, I personally wouldn't." I was flabbergasted. She she checked me out and handed me a receipt for the reservation. When I asked why I was being charged for the night. She stated that I did not cancel withing 24hrs. I responded that I had every intention on staying there, but unfortunately the hotel is not in any condition for me to allow my children to rest there. I then had to drive an hour to Corning NY to stay at the Radisson Hotel. read more

The first room I got was disgusting. It looked like a frat house after a night of drinking. Plus the toilet didn't even flush. When I asked for a new room the front desk lady didn't even flinch at the request. As if that was normal and common. Didn't even want to know what was wrong with the room. The second room was better. We were told we would get best room at motel - it was bad. If this was the best - I can't imagine what the others were like. The so called deck had no chairs and faced hot afternoon sun. No housekeeping service in motel for 2 days. Water in shower - scalding, water in sink - no pressure. Internet connection - slow. Breakfast - not fresh, not healthy. Air conditioning - tried. Beds - not comfortable. Carpeting - scary. The entire place was rundown and worn. Front desk folks don't talk to each other and kept passing the buck, telling me someone would contact me about a problem with reservation- they didn't. I stay in a lot of economy motels, mom and pop's - this was not a nice place. The only positive - the location was off the road and quiet. Don't stay here unless you are desperate, it will leave you with bad memories. read more

This place has most definitely improved in the last few months, during my week stay here I watched housekeeping attend every room everyday multiple times if needed, the waffles here are actually quite delicious, the front desk employees are very friendly and quick to correct any issues you might encounter, and to top it off, the room was actually quite reasonably priced read more

I love this hotel, great view of the mountains. It's an older hotel so you obviously won't get the whole package deal, but the rates are a lot lower than other hotels! But the free wifi is great, along with all the tv channels. Staff is very friendly read more
