My spouse at the entrance, the obligatory black sheep, and the welcome sign for us.

Had a fabulous time staying at the Black Sheep Inn a few nights ago. The owners Miranda and Simon are very helpful and fun to talk to. The bed was comfortable and I definitely caught up on sleep there. Not much to do nearby without a car there, but the back yard with patio and gazebo and a lovely natural backdrop make up for that. I love their attention to healthful products, chocolate and plant based diet. I would love to bring my spouse there again.

We spent the weekend here for our anniversary. It was quiet and nice. Simon and Miranda were incredible hosts. Breakfast was delicious. I highly recommend the 4 hour wine concierge service. We hope to get back in the near future.

The Wood Room- so inviting !

What a beautiful place - elegant clean and all the little "extras" that Miranda and Simon provide you . We are here to celebrate my mothers 80th birthday and Miranda baked this scrumptious vegan chocolate cake. If you are looking for a relaxed luxurious environment for a little get away this is the place to stop!

We loved everything about our stay here! Simon and Miranda are charming and welcoming hosts. They made sure we were comfortable during our stay here and were very engaging. Miranda's cooking was fantastic...the muffins were DIVINE!!! The inn was very comfortable with plenty of sitting areas. We can't wait to come back again and stay longer than a weekend next time.

Beautiful bathroom! Love the ladder for the towels...

We recently stayed here for our anniversary. We had a fantastic time! Breakfast was yummy and the owners are SO sweet and helpful. They helped us pick out some fantastic wineries to visit and made our stay incredible. Our room was gorgeous and so comfortable. They set up an outside fire for us as well. The breakfast was super healthy and yummy. Overall, a fantastic experience and we can't wait to come back!!!

A perfect way to sum up a weekend stay at this lovely B&B in Hammondsport, NY. Located just steps away from Keuka Lake, the town of Hammondsport, and a short drive to local wineries in the area, the Blushing Rose is a great place to drop your bags, hang your hat, and get relaxin'. From the moment you walk in the door, you are greeted by the owners with warm smiles and "make yourself at home" assurance. The first floor has a living room area where there is a guest TV, books, brochures for all the local wineries and attractions, and menus for nearby restaurants. Just upstairs you pass a game room with a table and view of the front yard, to get to the guest area. There are four spacious guest bedrooms at the Blushing Rose, all with queen beds and their own bathroom (I believe one room has a private bathroom just outside the door). I liked the Starlight room with a comfortable lofted queen bed and canopy twirled with white lights that you can turn on and off with a button by the bed. The Starlight room had a seating area with views of the back garden, a closet armoire, and a mirrored dresser to store clothes if needed. Just down the hall is a hospitality area complete with a mini fridge stocked with water, and room to place your new purchases from the local wineries. There is a table stocked full of shampoos and other toiletries that you may have forgot to bring along, as well as an iron and hairdryers. (As a lady, I much appreciated this). When you check-in to the B&B, there is a plate in your room with freshly-baked cookies and other little snacks. When you return at night from dinner and a walk by the lake, there are adirondack chairs that you can lounge in with a burbling fountain and lake view, or you can sit out on the porch that overlooks the sleepy street. AND!-there is another plate of cookies (new varieties) and tea waiting in the dining area for a bedtime snack. I am a cookie fanatic, so I was so terribly happy trying each one of the chocolate chip, ginger sugar and peanut butter cookies waiting for me when I got "home." The organic and home-made breakfasts are also incredible. I always have fun at B&B's because of the creativity that the owners put into their breakfasts. The first breakfast was private, at the dining table, with slices of pumpkin bread pudding, fresh melon with raspberry puree, and a delicious eggs benedict on whole wheat, served on china. There was also orange juice, water, and coffee. Light seaside music plays in the background, reminding you that you are indeed on vacation. The second breakfast, we were joined by our fellow guests at the dining table. Breakfast was a raspberry bread, with a plate of strawberries, banana, kiwi and strawberry cream. Next came what I would describe as a boosted pancake, with berries and 100% natural maple syrup. It was fun to get to know other travelers and swap stories. As mentioned earlier, Marianne and Sam make you feel like you are at home, and breakfast was relaxed, with the conversation free-flowing. After check-out, you are sent home with a care-package and a good sense that you had a vacation.

We had a Groupon for 2 nights but that expired (the cash value was $219). And Catherine was charging us an additional $196 (the difference in current charges and the Groupon value) this was all okay. But when they offered us rooms at the Best Western they maintained the same charges!!! The most expensive room at the BW is $130 a night or $260 for the weekend. These bait and switch disreputable people were basically charging us $415 for 2 nights At a Best Western!!! I would NEVER use them or recommend Catherine as a place to do any business with ever!!

After booking our room in April through the booking partner on their website, we immediately received a "guaranteed reservation" confirmation email and our credit card was debited. Then only a few days before our arrival date in late June, I get a call and email from the owner saying that our room was "doubled booked" and there was nothing she could do. Plus she told me that it was "up to us" to get a refund from the booking partner. At first that seemed to be a straight enough process - though they tried to keep their service fee! - that told me they would refund my money after getting confirmation from the hotel that the no refund policy was being removed. Weeks go by and we got the same message every day - they were unable to contact the hotel. When I reached out to the owner she told me that her phone "blocked their calls because they were marketing calls!" When I finally told her that we would be forced to take legal action to get our money back, she told me to stop threatening her and then said - in an email - that we gave up our room and she graciously allowed it to happen! Now I have her original email and voice mail - which I will gladly share with anyone who wants it - where she told us we did not have room and there was "nothing she could do." While based on the many negative reviews of people who actually stayed here, it may have been a blessing in disguise, though until we get our money back this remains a nightmare. The total lack of customer service on both the establishment and the booking partner is beyond belief. DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER THIS PLACE unless you want to be taken for a ride. The only reason I gave it one star is that the system forced me to. They deserve LESS than zero stars! We ended up having to find other accommodations at a nice, but very overpriced nearby Best Western. Also, I am not from San Francisco, not sure why Yelp thinks I am!

The house faces a gorgeous view of Lake Kueka, the Luna suite was spacious and comfortable, the bed was great, and each room has an en-suite bathroom. The whole house was spotless. We also took advantage of Steven's wine tour, letting him choose the destinations (excellent and varied) and drive so we could enjoy the tastings. He delivered a beautiful charcuterie board at our third stop. After a hard day of vineyard visits, we played pool, darts, and cornhole in Moonshadow's well stocked game room. Away from our temporary home, we visited the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, hiked to several waterfalls around Ithaca (Buttermilk Falls was our favorite), and enjoyed the Corning Museum of Glass. On Jeanette and Steven's recommendation, we stopped by the Muranda dairy farm in Waterloo for a cheese tasting. It was fabulous! Watkins Glen State Park is less than an hour away and you could even add a day trip to Niagara Falls. Whatever you do during the days, plan to start and end them at Moonshadow!
