I'm not sure if it was coming from the mattress section or the cushions on the couch or what, but it was pretty much nothing that we would sit on. Speaking of not sitting on it, there was dust on the armrests like they don't have vacuum attachments or something. Cobwebs on power cords and curtains. Mildew or mold in the shower between the tiles. See pictures. Water would leak from the shower, under the wall, soaking the carpet 3 ft. Into the carpeting by the side of the bed. To the point where my girlfriend's shoelaces were wet in the morning. Luckily she didn't have a bag on the floor.. Very loud creaky ceiling. I think most hotels use concrete floors but this one has wooden floors and between the footsteps and the creaking, it was hard to get to sleep. Could also easily hear voices from upstairs. While we were down at the pool, our key became demagnetized for some reason, and when my girlfriend went to the desk to get it reprogrammed, the lady, Darlene , gave her the third degree about asking for ID and everything which of course was in the room that we couldn't get into. And then finally reprogrammed the key but like it was a chore and she was doing us a favor. Handicap spots are on the side of the building but you have to wheel around to the main entrance because there's no cutout in the sidewalk to get up to the side entrance. Breakfast. I knew it was posted on the wall and they offered things like pancakes and bacon or omelets and bacon. But Saturdays and Sundays it's the exact same menu. Scrambled eggs and sausage links. You would think they would split that up. Mix it up for weekend travelers. Will not stay there again.

The TV remote was absent and there were no extras at the front desk so no tv for me. Entrances to rooms are interior. I was on the second floor with an outside door to the building near my end if the building. Someone had propped open that door late at night and I closed it. A complimentary breakfast continental style is included. I would have rated 4 stars except for billing. I prepaid with Expedia and the online checkin process was great, providing a pic of driver's license, color, make of car, all things to speed up the checkin process and it did. HOWEVER, next day I was charged not only thru Expedia, but by Days Inn. Not cool at all. I called the hotel. They directed me to their 800 customer service number. First call to them and I was disconnected. Not cool at all. Next call they told me I needed to call Expedia. WTH? Not cool at all. So, I called Expedia. They indicated a refund was made and would take up to 5 days. Still not cool at all. Last time I ever pre-pay for a hotel. Period.

Holiday Valley is the best "local" ski resort (in my case local means a 3 hour drive each way). I…read moream willing to make the drive since Holiday Valley provides a great ski day. The resort has 750 feet of vertical, but it skies much bigger than that, the large variety of slopes and challenges provides a rich experience. Parking at Holiday Valley is free, but on a busy day you may have a bit of a walk, especially if you are heading to the Main Lodge, but you can park at one of the other 2 base lodges, they are smaller but still very nice. My biggest complaint at the Main Lodge is that you will encounter a couple of sets of stairs to get to the slopes. Inside the lodge there are plenty of seating, bathrooms, rentals, ski shops and the usual ski lodge food. The Tannenbaum Lodge does provide a couple of rooms where you can leave your bags and bring your own food, which is very convenient. From the Main Lodge you have 2 primary lift choices, Cindy's Quad and the Mardi Gras Express; both keep the lines moving at a good pace and allow you access to the rest of the resort. The lift system overall works well to keep you moving and the lines at a reasonable level. This year Holiday Valley has gone to a RFID lift ticket which was a bit challenging to find the right location for the card to consistently activate the gates, once I figured it out it was pretty smooth. Holiday Valley offers plenty of challenge and with its location in the lake effect snow belt it usually gets great snow coverage. On my recent day trip I found the skiing better than my earlier trip to Lake open runs like Mardi Gras to rollicking narrower trails through the woods. The Black trails are always welcome with Champagne, Yodeler and Edelweiss usually worth multiple runs. Typically, 1 or 2 of these will have one side groomed and the other side moguls. There are plenty of glade tree skiing runs and a couple of terrain parks off of the Morningstar Express Lift. They even have a Double Black Diamond run, although it was not open this trip. For my most recent visit I took advantage of the Cabin Fever Days promotion to get a $25 lift ticket at selected ski shops; plenty of other people also took advantage of the promotion so it was busy for a Tuesday. Conditions were great, almost the whole resort was open. After a nice morning of skiing the Blue and Black runs, I did feel so good that I skied some of the moguls and took a few runs through the Happy Glades which is the first time I have been tree skiing in several years. I also did take a short midday stop at the Tannenbaum Lodge for a quick warm up. Holiday Valley consistently receives high marks as one of the best resorts in the East, it also gets more skier visits than any other resort in New York. I have been skiing Holiday Valley for more than three decades and I always have a great time. The drive there and back can be challenging at times, but that just means the resort is getting plenty of snow. If you are looking for a great day of skiing Holiday Valley should be on your list. In addition, the town of Ellicottville is a charming ski town and Salamanca offers a full-service Casino and resort.

You could see large groups of friends, couples, families with small children and solo skiers all having the time of their life. I was impressed that you could safely leave your skis outside on the rack and no one bothered them. That doesn't happen in Columbus, Ohio. lol This lodge is something you would see out of a magazine as it is magnificent in every way. My favorite was the large, second floor outside patio area with comfy chairs to sit and rest in between racing down the slopes. Just a place to kick back and catch your breath, and it's right off of the bar area, how convenient is that? On the first level, there is a huge locker room area with digital lockers, where you'll see everyone either bundling up or stripping down. In the cafeteria on the second floor, like I mentioned before has a huge array of delicious items to refuel your system. As you walk in the dining area, you will see a huge room with wraparound windows and I could not even tell you how many tables and chairs, and an enormous fireplace....which was a bit too warm for my liking, but I just took off a few layers and I was fine. On the first floor adjacent to the bottom of the slope, you will find a very toasty warm Starbucks offering not only their signature coffees and snacks, but also a wall of alcohol, alcoholic beverages, along with whiskey. Guess you gotta stay warm somehow. They also have a large glass ice water tower for those that want to pop in and get a quick hydrate before heading back out. And the slopes... unbelievable!!!! You literally have so much to choose from. And they are all meticulously cared for. Lastly, they have ski lessons on hand for the beginners. When we checked in this place was almost fully occupied some working crews. Parking was filled with their vehicles and trucks. Found a parking near the side door by chance. Check in was smooth. They gave us a room in the ground floor itself. Amenities are Ok. The air conditioning was functional. That was the best thing on a hot summer day. Their breakfast area is smaller - options are limited - especially of you are someone with dietary restrictions. They've got a nice backyard to sit and enjoy the evenings or some fun time with kids. We used the laundry there - clean and quite useful. Our stay was a pleasant one. No hiccups. No hassles. Happy about the experience.

I mean it's 'turned the bottom of my sons white socks to a mud color' dirty. I did notice while walking down the corridors that several people had their work boots sitting outside of their rooms. My husband took a second to comment on good home training since he does something similar with his work boots at home. I'm assuming not everyone does this for whatever reasons and the carpet suffers the price. Any whoo! Tip 1: Use your flip flops to go shower and keep your shoes on till you get in bed. The bed was pretty comfy plus we were exhausted, so that worked out. The only thing there was these stains on the ceiling the shape of a bed that kinda made you feel as if the bed on the floor above you was going to fall through. Weird. The shower sucks. Warm hard water and no pressure. The breakfast wasn't great either, but it was food... I think. Oh wait, the drive on this long, dark and wooded road coming up to the hotel will definitely make you uneasy. Half way up you may start to question the gps, but it's up there. Be brave!

We felt safe and at home throughout, and this hotel put cleanline at top priority even before the pandemic. Onto more fun stuff! The staff here is top notch. So friendly and helpful and a pleasure to interact with. We brought our dog, Freddy Sue, this time around, and I would absolutely recommend this hotel to fellow dog owners looking to take their pup to a dog friendly town. It is a $70 charge which is steep, but was worth it to us in terms of peace of mind, especially with the off peak rate of this hotel on a Saturday to Sunday being $140. The beds are SO comfortable and I had such an awesome night's rest. Of course, the location cannot be beat. In the non-COVID times, we bopped from restaurant to restaurant drinking our way through the town and it was amazing to be able to come right back to the center of town as home base. UPDATE: I complained on my survey and was contacted by a customer service representative and they gave the company response "sorry for your bad experience we will try hard" which I replied, typical response, I don't believe you even read my additional comments. I said that there was a time when customers were compensated for bad experiences but now it is , we got your money, sorry. About a hour later a got a reply that half my money was being refunded. So at least they are trying so I changed my rating to 2 stars for the effort.
