This place was disgusting. The shower didn't work and when we told the front desk, instead of letting us move into another room (there were only 4 guests) they wanted to come fix it while we were there. We were exhausted and just wanted to rest. They shoved all of their guests, some who look like long term tenants, in the same area. It was very disconcerting and the photos are obviously retouched! Doesn't look like that in the least! We were promised a partial refund but never received it. We booked directly with the front desk, so no excuses there. This is a great little hotel! I was skeptical at first, but after reading a bunch of reviews on different sites, I decided to trust the good ones and book a room at Econo Lodge. It was easy to locate/access. The rates were reasonable, especially given it was Memorial Day weekend. Upon arrival, check-in was smooth and the staff were very attentive and friendly. Our room was clean and the bed was quite comfortable which was so nice after a long day. When we got back to our room in the evening, there were a few more people checked in, but it was quiet and we didn't have any noise issues. Would definitely stay here again. read more

I stayed Sunday night and when I checked in I found a needle full of drugs I brought it to the front desk and the woman that was working said she would inform the owners and compensate me for the needle that was found but I never received a phone call by the owners. Five stars is not enough for the great lodging I have discovered in Yreka Ca. I was on a fishing trip to the Klamath River. I found the Econo Lodge on the main drag in Yreka and Im so glad I did. The accommodations were clean, modern, reasonably priced and the staff were very friendly and knowledgable. They went out of their way to make me feel welcome. This is a family run business, been in the area for many years, and had great recommendations for food, supplies and even helped me with a computer problem I was having, could not have asked for better folks. Next time your passing by Yreka, give the Econo Lodge a try, you will be glad you did. read more

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. Everything is dirty, filthy gross. From the front desk to the room. I checked in around 6 pm, was gone by 10 pm. Mold all around the base boards in the room, gross shower, smelled of chemicals and everything was just gross to the touch. Incredibly loud rooms, you can hear EVERYTHING around you. When I checked out the lady was uninterested and immediately defensive. I should've gotten a refund but after 10 hours of driving I was too tired to argue. This hotel is absolutely disgusting! The office staff/owner is very deceitful and has no customer service skills. I booked a nonsmoking room. She argued that I booked a smoking room. When I showed her my reservation on my phone that clearly says 2 queen beds non smoking, she said well my computer says smoking. I have quite literally never stayed in a hotel that was dirtier than this one. I showered at night and by the time I got in bed my feet were black on the bottom. There was also long, black hair on the shower walls. I have short blonde hair. It was sooo gross! We left our reservation early and went to a different hotel. read more

I left my iPad in the room when I checked out here, called the next day, and THEY HAD IT!! I could not believe someone didn't steal it. On top of that, they sent it to me in Oakland so I didn't have to drive all the way back up there. The owners of the Econo Lodge and the people that work there have some real integrity, which you don't find every day. The room was also very clean, bed comfortable. I won't stay here again. They charged us $25 per dog (our dogs are small) and there is absolutely no place to walk them since it's on a very busy street. Not exactly my definition of pet friendly! The room is run down (glad we brought our own pillows) and I don't even feel comfortable using the shower! We spent $130 so I will bite the bullet and try not to beat myself up too badly for not reading the reviews more carefully. Did I mention how noisy the people above us were? I would not recommend this hotel. While the rates may be cheap, it is definitely worth the extra cash to find a better place that can treat their customers like actual human beings. We had a group of 36, consisting of 7 families. We made reservations and paid for 9 rooms under the Choice Hotels application. On the day of the reservation, we received a text around 4 PM stating that our reservations would be canceled if we did not reply by 6 PM. We found this odd as this has never happened to us at other hotels. After replying in time, we arrived later that evening to find that our rooms have already been booked off. The man in charge even threw a fit saying he would not do business with us due to a booking error and proceeded to ask where we were from in a demeaning manner. Initially, they refused to refund us at all, but after a phone call with Choice Hotels to clear things up, we were refunded. By the time the refund was taken care of, it was past midnight and our group had nowhere to go. We were denied access to the parking lot and asked to leave at 1 in the morning with children as young as 4 years old to another place where we could park and wait for Choice Hotels to find us a new accommodation. It is appalling to witness the staff here lack basic manners used to communicate with an individual, let alone a customer. They were unable to manage the issue in a respectful and mature manner and instead resorted to shouting and pointing. This is not to say that all Econo Lodges are poor, we have been to several and all were very accommodating. This Econo Lodge in particular, however, lacks the fundamentals of customer service which is the basis of the hotel/motel industry. read more

Stayed here on a weekday night. Asked for a non-smoking room and was assigned Room 47. The whole room smelled like stale smoke and cleaning solutions. Good thing this wasn't my first rodeo and had brought Febreeze with me. After opening all the windows to air out the room and treating the whole room and carpet w/ Febreeze, it was bearable. It wasn't until the next day that I realized WHY the room smelled like smoke - Room 46 next door is a SMOKING room. Not such a bright move by owner/ management. The toilet ran all night. I reported it, so I hope it was fixed. The rate I was quoted over the phone was different than what was quoted when I arrived, though that was easily sorted. Fridge worked well. Bathroom was clean and serviceable w/ nice hot water and good water pressure. Good job on the lamp choice! Two bedside lamps that had easily located switches and plugs for laptops or phone chargers! REALLY liked not having to move furniture to locate a plug for my electronics. The bed linens and comforter were clean and relatively new - nothing special, but also not shabby. Free wi-fi and tv worked without any problems. Re: pets - apparently there is a $20 deposit per dog and a $10 fee for the pet lodging. The clerk told me that if I "tried to keep the dog off the bed" they would waive the $20 deposit. I understand the desire to keep pets off the furniture; one never knows how clean the dog is or how well-behaved, but this criteria seemed arbitrary and half-hearted to me. The stale smoke smell in the room should have been a greater concern. Bfast served 6:30-9:30, but didn't make it. My guess is that it was all carbs and no protein, and the section of the lobby where bfast was served didn't alter my suspicions. I went to the drive-thru Starbucks 3 minutes south of the Econo Lodge, and was a happy traveler. All in all, it was a decent place for the price. I've definitely experienced worse, but still, I probably won't stay here again. read more

This location is under the Choice Hotels umbrella. We made a reservation for this location, and our reservation clearly stated that our room would be held for us until 7 am the day after the scheduled arrival. We arrived around 4:30 am and were told that the computer system had automatically flagged our reservation as a no-show. We were told we could not be let in to our room. We were told we needed to wait to call Choice Hotels when their customer service opened at 5 am. We did so, and were given no useful information besides being told to call back when customer relations opened at 6 am. After speaking with customer relations, we were given some Choice Hotels reward points, but were still without a room. We were ultimately forced to drive to our next hotel on our itinerary four hours away after getting no sleep. Complete nightmare. read more

This place was very dirty. Our room looked like it hadn't been cleaned. They advertise breakfast. When we went to get breakfast they said they don't have it because of Covid. I understand that, but they had it on their sign out side. The worse part is I had two tiny bugs I killed in my bed, when going to bed the first night. I didn't think anything of it. I woke up the next morning to bites all over me, my arms, legs and body. I'm afraid I got bed bugs. I tried to cancel my next two nights. They wouldn't let me because I'd already paid. read more

The rooms were soooooo disgusting!!!! The shower has long black hair stuck to the walls. The floors were obviously dirty. My feet were black just from walking on their floors. My husband and I could not sleep good because it felt so gross. When I returned from our vacation 5 days later I bites all over my arms and back. When I investigated my suit case there are little tiny bugs inside. When I looked up what they were they seem to be bed bugs. I would not recommend this place. It is sooo gross!!!! read more

I travel through Yreka several times a year. this trip I needed a room with three beds. The hotel is a little run down and in need of upgrading. My room was large and located on the second floor corner so no problems with noise. The only saving grace was the price $95 for three bed suite including tax and fees. Took all night to warm up. I had to sleep in my sweater on to try to warm up. They brought an extra blanket to us but the heater was in the closet so the it was morning before we finally got warm. The phone was inoperable & TV was flashing off & on....so watching a show was frustrating. The pillows... two were hard/stiff & the other ones were lumpy. So uncomfortable. First off, I will admit I never stayed here. Why? Because the day before my arrival, the hotel staff called me and demanded to know why I booked the room I did. So much for privacy? I had booked a three-bedroom suite for my wife and I (plus our two dogs) simply because we like a lot of space when we travel. However, the hotel staff kept pressing me on the phone why I needed so much space for just two people, etc. I finally got very frustrated at their inability to listen and bugger off, told them I would cancel the reservation and stay somewhere else, and hung up the phone on their incessant chatter. I mean, really: Who calls a guest with a reservation and demands to know why they booked the room they booked? So rude. NEVER in my life have I ever had a hotel question my reservation, and considering I am Choice Hotels Gold Member, etc., I found this to be unacceptable. My wife and I just stayed somewhere else in town and had a wonderful weekend laughing about this place every time we drove by it. read more

We booked a room here for a family reunion this past weekend. Before we had even checked in, several family members reported that the man at the desk had been rude to them; so rude in fact that they'd gone elsewhere. I was surprised, because he had been pleasant to me on the phone. When we pulled up to check in, we had an extra person with us. The guy threw a fit, accusing us first of bringing in a bunch of kids, and then of having two or three extra people. Instead of just calmly informing us that an extra person would be an extra charge, we got a blustering 15 minute lecture about how we were trying to rip him off, how no one understands how motels work, etc etc. We had pulled right up in front of the door in our car; it wasn't like we were being sneaky. This went on even after I expressed to him that I now understood the policy, and was willing to pay for the extra person. He was still talking as I went out the door, even after I had already asked him to just give us the key and let us go on our way. The room itself was clean, run down, and met the absolute minimum standard of what you would expect in a motel. Other family members reported excessive noise in their room all night from other guests, but our room was quiet. I doubt we'll have an occasion to stay in Yreka again, but if we do, it probably won't be here. read more

Our room was a bit worn, but had the necessities (shampoo, soap, blow dryer, etc.) including an iron and ironing board! The bed was comfortable. Please do not stay here. We asked for a nonsmoking room but the room (and sheets) smelled like someone had even smoking in the room for years. I expressed my concerns to the owner and she just dismissed the idea that the room was not a "non smoking" room. They did not have remotes for the TV or a/c unit. Old, old, old space heaters built into the wall of each room. Heaters don't work very well and are super dangerous. Definitely not something you can leave on all night long, so my room got freezing during the night. Decent bed, decent bathroom. SCAM: this hotel is taking reservations during a fire emergency, and when people arrive and realize they can't stay, they refuse to cancel the reservation. I made the reservation through Expedia, and the hotel Manager screamed at them. Do not risk making a reservation here. read more

Place was run down, smelled moldy, and bathroom was missing some lights. The next morning, went down to get breakfast. I made toast with butter and since the cold butter was hard to spread, it took a while. The woman at the desk, I'm guessing the owner, told me to take it to my room in a rude and loud voice. It's just another way to say get out even though I wasn't planning to eat there because there's no place to sit. I didn't like the look she gave me out the door to start my day off. We booked and paid for 9 rooms ahead of time by Choice Hotels apps. We showed up at 10 PM and found all our 9 reservations were all sold off without our consent. We had to drive next town at 1 AM to find rooms to stay. Please do not trust these people to hold/honor your reservations. It is human greed at its worst. It was OK although I always find EconoLodges a little depressing. The staff was obviously trying their best with a somewhat tired building. The wireless code did not work and I was too tired from driving all day to deal with trying to straighten it out. The TV probably worked although the controller was far too complex for my road-addled brain to navigate--it was anything but user-friendly. My overall impression was that the management was a little clueless about what the actual experience of guests traveling up or down I5 is like. For the money I honestly don't expect much more but this is not a luxury hotel. read more

The only reason that I am not giving a total of five stars is because the continental breakfast did not have hard boiled eggs. Nice little motel. Rooms were clean, decent windows that open, AC and TV were great. Nice fridge and microwave. No meat continental breakfast. Even the ice machine was a winner. The bed and furniture were just fine. I would stay again. They have a pool, with water in it. read more
