We picked this resting place partly due to its location/proximity to the Metro into DC - 10 min walk down the path in front. Very nice neighborhood, clean+well kept. Enjoyed our stay, 24hr tea+coffee available. Quiet at night. No carpet in rooms- which I prefer. Comfortable bed and perfect temperature in room. Fridge+ microwave. Well run establishment, nice staff. When entering hotel parking lot , it's not difficult but the entrance is easily missed as the street's on 1 side only and near to the corner stop. But, the hotel signage is highly visible. There are a huge number+ variety of great restaurants in the area but not many are walkable. Good coffee shop nearby. read more

i actually had a reservation though super.com when went to check in the front desk said i needed a 250.00 deposit to which he was very rude , i have stayed there before and was never asked for a deposit of that amount thought was strange and this person was going to scam me, the next day called the GM about the situation and explained what happened she said it only should have a 100 deposit i asked about having my money refunded and she said i don't care if you file a complaint your not getting a refund and she hangs up the phone, i have never been treated so badly by a hotel and have been in the hotel industry as chef for 35 years, stay away from this place it pretty bad read more

Website says microwave in the room. I didn't have one and when I went to the front desk, she said: you should have requested one.... The shampoo and conditioner bottles looked used. Road trip from Boston to Atlanta with stops to visit family and friends in the DC area. Econo Lodge was clean and quiet. Nothing fancy. No bad odors of smoke or anything else. Free parking and continental breakfast. Most places charge for parking. Noticed lots of places to eat around the corner but we ate out with family elsewhere. My wife and I were scheduled for four nights here but left after only three. This is a three-story motel with no elevator and no automatic doors so getting multiple bags into the lobby can be a challenge. The front desk staff was at best indifferent. The fellow who checked us in looked like he was annoyed at being pulled away from his laptop to deal with the motel's system. We had a room on the street level, which was actually the second floor. There was one below and one above us. Best thing I can say is that the room was clean and the bed was comfortable, although the room was quite small. The bathroom was a disaster. Very tiny space with cracks in the fiberglass tub. The tub was rather deep, which means a very high stepover. This could be a problem for older guests. The tub and sink faucets were old style Moen pull-out/push-in and very stiff. Anyone with limited hand strength would have issues. The sink was in a tiny alcove with almost no counter space. The shower curtain in the tub was too long, creating a trip hazard. The tub also seemed oddly v-shaped rather than flat. There were damaged spots on the bathroom walls that had been repaired with spackle or possibly joint compound, but not repainted. The included breakfast was minimalist at best. The coffee wasn't terrible but the eggs were overcooked over-easy hockey pucks or cold boiled eggs. Cereal choices were Cheerios or Fruit Loops. There was bread and bagels but the toaster was filthy and apparently an artifact from a bygone age. It would warm a bagel but it would take a long time to toast one. For less than $100- a night, I didn't really expect luxury but this place should be considered a last resort for anyone staying in the area. read more

we stayed at the ECONO metro for 3 nights. The first thing I noticed is that the hotel is old with black water stains in one area of the hallway ceiling. once in our room I saw a tiny bug in the tub, I disposed of it but didn't think too much of it. The next morning I found 4 more bugs and quickly reacted. The bug was later id'ed as a roach. The hotel did move us to a different room. I didn't see any bugs there but the damage for me was done. beyond the roaches the rooms are in need of some serious upgrading. there was paint that was bubbling, likely from old water leaks and the door was pee . The included breakfast was minimal. Although I understand it is a continental breakfast some fruit may have been nice. I do not recommend this hotel. read more

Spoke with the manager ALI he said he would speak to the owner and he offered no refund on my room which I'm paying $1,000 for 6 nights I ended up paying $820 (no discount) for 5 nights of bed bug bites. I asked ALI if I payed him $1,000 would he sleep in a bed that he knew had bed bugs in them for 1 night??? ( No response from him) He said that he is a heart patient and that I'm raising his blood pressure because I'm bringing this issue to his attention. I saw other guess who are staying in the hotel and let them know to check for bed bugs and bites and he said he would call the police on me. This facility is a joke don't bring your family or kids here as they really do not care about there guest. As a hotel it is there job to make sure the hotel rooms are clean for the guest which they haven't and then offer no help and threaten to call the cops on me for letting other guest know of the issue. I've called the Arlington Health department to let them know of the issue and they are going to send out someone to investigate it. The first night it started out with 2 bites, next day I had 4 I'm up to 7 bites all over my legs see posted pictures. This is an odd little property. The hotel is a little hidden in a corner with the entrance to the parking lot on the side of the building, with no sign calling it out. It's a little hard to negotiate because the lot is small and tight but you can manage if you're careful. First, this is a multistory hotel with no elevator. Our first floor room was either down a flight of stairs, and through a cramped little breakfast room (more on that later) or at the other end of the building and up a half flight. Rolling bags be damned, you're totin' pal. Once in the room we found it large and clean but still uncomfortable. The bed was ok but a sofa, dinette table, kitchenette arrangement was somehow off. Yes there was a kitchenette but no coffee machine. When was the last time you didn't have a coffee machine in your room? We decided to settle for a cold beverage but, alas, the soda machine was out of service during our entire stay - 5 nights. They offer a continental breakfast. Scrambled or boiled eggs, sausage, apples and bananas, some breads and sweet rolls, boxes of cold cereal and milk, oj and coffee. Sounds pretty good, right? Well, the eggs and sausage were fine. The ample supply of bread and bagels were coupled with a toaster that was past its useful life. On my second morning I timed toasting a bagel. It was in the toaster for 5 minutes and still wasn't browned. C'mon a toaster costs 50 bucks. Don't try to use it for 8 or 10 years. Not the now typical waffles, this hotel has a quirky little machine the likes of which I have never seen. At the press of a button the machine prepares 2 dollar sized hot cakes that are spit out through a set of rollers. Thin, compressed little coasters. I think the Smithsonian might be missing an artifact. Coffee should be easy but this place had a spigot type dispenser that emitted a foul elixir. It tasted like the machine hadn't been descaled or de-acidified ever. Truly nasty. Worse, the coffee sat in it hot all day as far as we could tell. Our impression was that "Econo" referred to the owners approach to management. Hospitality is not offered, at 11:00 on our check in day we were rudely told to "come back at 2:00, that's check in time". We chose this property because it was apparently walking distance to the Metro station. We are here to visit DC. The metro isn't a walk, it's a HIKE down a very busy bike path. We drove and parked. I felt deceived. There is no place on the property to sit except your room or the stiff, crowded and small (every wall is mirrored, guess why) breakfast room. No outdoor area or lounge with a chair. There is an ashtray at the parking lot next to the outdoor stairs if you're in the mood. If all you want is a clean bed, this will do. Otherwise, All I can say is BUYER BEWARE! read more

The location is excellent, right off the interstate, within walking distance to the metro. However the parking lot itself is tight, if driving anything larger than a full size suv be prepared to do a lot of maneuvering to park that beastie (depending on the hotel occupancy) Also, the front desk staff is not very welcoming, it seems as if they're mindset is they are doing you a favor. I stay at hotels in the DMV area extensively (work) and me personally the front desk staff of any hotel weights heavy in determining if I will return for another stay or not. read more

I had made a reservation. I printed out the reservation which confirmed the price. When I checked in, the manager, Jay, wanted to charge me a higher price. I showed him the print out of my reservation and he would not honor the price. He said he is aware of an error in the system and therefore, he would not honor the erroneous price. Due to the high cancellation fee, I had no choice but to stay and pay the higher price. I called Jay back later to see if he could credit the difference or accommodate in any way and he hung up on me. On top of that, this hotel is not great. The amenities are super basic. The location is horrible. It is practically situated right under an overpass and at the intersection of 2 extremely busy roads. Drivers are looking into the hotel window, the room is that close to the street. Jay is very rude and it is a shame that he is the manager and treats customers this way! read more

The exterior of the hotel looks a bit outdated, but the interior tells an entirely different story. The staff was very friendly & the room I stayed in was nice, clean, up to date & well kept. The free breakfast was okay for what it was, can't really complain about that. There are vending machines available for snacks, drinks and laundry detergent(in the event that you need to use the laundry room). I mostly used the one for drinks and they were ice cold, very good for those hot & humid days I was there for. My main concern was the distance between the hotel and the Metro Station, and it's a 5-7 minute walk from the East Falls Church Metro Station if you walk through the trail. There are also Metrobuses that take you to the train station as well if you manage to catch them (the 2A & 3A), the stop is close to the front of the hotel, not the one across the street. The ride to Downtown D.C, the Smithsonian & National Mall is about 15-20 minutes, so it's not that bad at all. My only complaint doesn't have to do with the hotel itself, the hotel itself is great, it's the lack of restaurants and stuff nearby. There's a couple of local restaurants nearby, and there's a 7-11 once you cross the overpass by the gas station. If you are willing to walk down several blocks, there's an Applebees on South Washington Street & South Broad Street, along with a Chipotle and a couple of Seafood restaurants. But, for places to get a quick bite, you don't have much options. Anyway, back to the hotel. It's a very nice place to stay at and I will definitely book this location again in the future, it's most definitely worth the stay for the price! read more

Worst experience ever! Staff was so, so rude, and unfriendly, except for Haley. One day we came late from DC and needed help from helpdesk ... we found out the lady was outside smoking pot with a friend!. The hotel is in very bad shape, they said the "breakfast" is included, and there is no breakfast!. The hotel is so run down! We got cockroaches in the shower, when we arrived the toilette was dirty; we also had bed bugs!!! We were bitten by them so badly. We where in the first floor in front of the cleaning staff room, and the cleaning ladies would wake you up very early with their laud laughter and chatting. Ice machine was broken. We booked 4 nights and tried to change the reservation so we could go to a different hotel, and they didn't let us, they said that if we left they would charge us for the whole stay. We stayed here while visiting family and highly recommend it! The room was neat and clean, with comfy bedding and fluffy towels. Nice surprise that there was a small (not mini) fridge where we could store drinks and leftovers. The in-room dining menu disappointed us, but that wasn't the hotel's fault (it's an outside restaurant). Instead, try Hunan Village at 4775 Lee Hwy; they deliver delicious Chinese!! Traveling into the city is a breeze with a Metro station just 400 yards away. The train delivered us to the Smithsonian Castle in 20 minutes or so. The one drawback: no elevator, so you may be stuck schlepping bags up or down a flight of stairs (reception is on the 2nd floor), a minimal nuisance in the end. read more

I stayed at the econo lodge off of Lee highway in Arlington last week and this was my worst hotel experience ever! The handle on the toilet handle was nearly completely falling out and unworkable. The service at the front desk was not great and the the manager was unfriendly and not very helpful. The tv remote buttons for the volume and channel were difficult to use and barely worked. Also, there were visible cracks that had been sealed by the toilet and in the shower and the bed sheets were not very comfortable. I feel the rooms shouldn't not have been $100 a night for such a low quality room. Also, the $300 per day smoking fee seemed excessive and like a weird pet peeve that the management had against smokers, not that I did smoke since I would have never risked paying 3 times the room rate for something like that. Suffice to say, I am unhappy and do not intend on going back. read more

I'm lying back in my clean, comfortable, renovated room, marveling at the value proposition it represents. Check-in was quick and accurate, my room was exactly as promised (with one tiny exception, below), and it's clear the corporate ownership has invested in its future. The television's cable package is very good and the little fridge works like a charm. It's an older building, and it looks much better on the inside vs. its exterior. There aren't a lot of "walkable" things to do, though, which is disappointing. Still, it's a great value. One small nit: the ad listed the room as having a microwave. It does not. There's one in the vending/ice room, but that's not the same thing. If it was, the room could also be advertised as having an ice machine, which would be absurd. This is a great, basic, reasonably priced older hotel. Accessible to basic amenities, I.e. McDonalds, Chick-fil-A, pharmacies, etc . Hotel has small, very clean rooms. When making reservations u should note any walking or climbing restrictions of anyone in your party, lots of stairs. One unfavorable critique is that breakfast and guest laundry is accessible only by stairs. We are very happy we booked here, would do it again and recommend to anyone visiting Washington DC. read more

My family of four stayed here in March 2015 in a room with two double beds. If you are looking for a luxury hotel, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a quiet, clean, safe place to sleep and prepare for your day in DC, I recommend Econo Lodge Metro. We will stay here again on future visits. We chose Econo Lodge Metro based on its cost and proximity to the Metro train station. The walk to the train station is a well-lit bike path or a residential neighborhood, your choice. The walk from our room to the train was 11 minutes. Train ride to the White House is 18 minutes, Smithsonian Castle is 22 minutes, US Capitol is 28 minutes. The hotel room was clean and quiet. The double beds were true double beds, not queens, so they were smaller than we are used to at home. You have to really like the person you are sharing the bed with. The bathroom sink area was very small, and the shower/toilet room was also small, but both were clean and functional. The sink had walls on three sides with only enough counter space for a few cups and a toothbrush. Would be nice to have more counter space, but we managed just fine. Our room included a refrigerator. Not a full size fridge but also not a small one. We were able to keep 8 water bottles, fruits, produce, and snacks cold in the fridge. There was also a small table with two chairs. Our room did not have a microwave (I thought I saw one in hotel photos before our visit) but there is a microwave in the vending area downstairs. We enjoyed having free wifi in our room. A CVS pharmacy is a 4 minute drive away, as is a variety of dining. read more

For the price you can't beat it. No elevator, but the short trip on the stairs wasn't anything major. Everyone at the front desk rocked and was so helpful, especially Darla! Breakfast was basic but good (that breakfast room is tight so I don't recommend eating down there). Highlight was the Starbucks coffee machine on the first floor that ground beans and brewed fresh coffee 24/7! No gross dairy free creamer, real half and half, folks. Rooms were basic but big. Shower is a little tight. Both rooms we were in had a table and 2 chairs which added a little something extra. Free parking and never had a hard time finding a spot. Our family stayed at the Hyatt downtown and we all agreed upon visiting we were glad we stayed near falls church! Great neighborhood, cute restaurants, small town feel and only a half mile from the train. We will definitely be back! read more

Can't beat the price for clean, bug-free hotel in northern Virginia. Bathroom tiny but super clean. Staff was very nice. Breakfast free and reasonable. But worst bed...like a comedy show...had to put pillows in the middle so my spouse and I would not be scrunched into the middle! So while I would have given this little hotel a 4 star, I just was on edge with the place and couldn't relax. Wouldn't let my husband put anything on the floor. Never saw a bug. Our room was on the ground floor/basement level with laundry room, boiler room, and the noisy meal area (noisy starting 5:30 am!) Our adult son had a room further down the hall and had no complaints. I was advised i made reservation at wrong hotel and immediately canceled our reservation, thinking cancellation was free. BOY WAS I WRONG. Received my bill from charge account only to find i had been charged 805.41 for cancellation. Spoke with Mohammad at hotel and was told this is company policy. So I spoke with Booking.com on a couple of occasions to see if they could help me with a refund or reduced rate. They told me that cancellation charges are usually one night stay, but per Mohammad that these charges are company policy. So please be very careful when booking with these people. read more

We stayed five nights here in July, 2018. It is an older hotel, but well-kept and clean. The street to the west is busy, but the hotel is quiet! The staff were all friendly and professional. The free breakfast had a decent selection and was adequate; it was also well-tended. The Metro station is an easy ten minute walk to the east. We walked along a residential street to get to the Metro. The area between the hotel and the Metro had small, well-kept houses. I felt safe in the area and on the walk to the station. read more

I stayed in the Econo Lodge in Virginia Beach so I was excited to stay in the one in Washington DC, boy was I blindsided. The difference between the two are so great that you wouldn't know they are the same hotel chain. While the Econo Lodge in Virginia Beach was bright and airy feeling, and the staff was friendly and very responsive the Metro is dingy and a little greasy looking. The staff that I have interacted with seem like they would rather be doing anything else (I am sure they would). When I went to get my coffee from their coffee machine I noticed that it was Starbucks (Yay), I also noticed that it had ants crawling all over it. When I told the staff person she said, yeah, it's Spring, there are ants everywhere. Ok, well that helps. The floors look like they haven't been swept in a while and my bedroom smells funny. And do t get me started on the surrounding area. I really wish that I had stayed in Virginia Beach instead of coming here. Talk about a crappy end to what started out as an incredible vacation. But they do have Starbucks at the Metro...so there is that. read more

Well, I thought I was choosing a reasonably priced hotel that was close to transportation, comfortable lodging and decent breakfasts. However, it was not so. The room smelled musty...moldy despite opening the windows each day and night. VERY noisy outside as there is major construction right in front. Room was cleaned but the carpeting was dirty. The hallway carpeting was also dirty. The breakfast was TERRIBLE! Small room, not enough seats, vending machine (for water bottles) was out of order for the entire time we were there. The front desk personnel were nice enough and informative when asked but really not overly congenial or welcoming. The walk to the subway was pleasant but a little confusing. Uber to the city was almost $20 so definitely take public transportation. I would never stay here again! I thought the apartment building next to the hotel was part of the hotel, but it was not (deceiving in photos). The binder in the room said it had airport transport services but there were none. This Econo Lodge is in a great location for both the freeway and the metro. Our room was good (small bathroom, but otherwise quite nice) and the continental breakfast was good. The neighborhood feels safe, and there are several restaurants a 3-5 minute drive away. But most importantly, the front desk gives great customer service. We accidently booked the wrong hotel, so showed up here without a booking, but they generously gave us a great rate for the night. We would definitely stay here again. read more

The price was reasonable. For a room with a queen size bed could not complain. The bathroom is tiny but it's clean. The room itself is very light and airy. You can hear a lot of traffic but that is because it's so close to the highway. It has a nice LCD TV and lots of table space. My family and I stayed here for a short weekend trip to DC, and we were very pleased. It is an easy walk from the hotel to the metro (there is even a walk/bike path that runs in front of the hotel to the metro and beyond). Everything is clean and well maintained, the parking lot is safe and well-lit, and while the rooms are not the absolute most modern furnishings, it all looked extremely well taken care of-no stains on the carpet, no peeling wallpaper or stains on the ceiling. There was free coffee available down the hall from our room, and free wifi available. The staff were courteous. Continental breakfast area clean. Not the largest choice for breakfast (mostly toast, frozen waffles, fruit, yogurt, and usually some kind of cake), but they did actually have Starbucks coffee available at breakfast which surprised me. We would absolutely stay here again, and recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable place to stay in the DC area.
