The best thing I can say about this place is that they had no bug issues. No cockroaches or bed bugs that I saw however I didn't have any food in my room and was only there for one night. The staff is also very friendly. The parking area didn't feel like a safe place for me to leave my car, and it was a bit of a rough crowd that seemed to be staying there. One guy was intently staring at me as I unloaded my car, and there is no security for the hotel. The room felt clean, which was good for a $135 room fee (plus $15 pet fee). Also there are shelves by the sink that are extremely easy for cats to jump onto. This makes it possible for them to climb onto the extremely weak plastic light fixture over the sink. I tried my best to block off this shelf with boxes from my car, but my clever cat still managed to climb up there and wake me multiple times throughout the night. The platform of the bed is also about eight inches from the wall allowing dogs or cats a perfect hard to reach hiding spot. My brother was placed in a room next to the laundry room which also has the maids utility closet in it. He woke to someone doing their laundry at 3am, and then again at 9am to the maids laughing and talking loudly. I recommend trying to get a room that isn't near the laundry area if you're going to stay here. read more

We decided that we needed to get off the interstate in Moss Point due to extremely bad weather. We found the Econo Lodge and called for a rate. The price for the night was $75, so we decided to stay. The room was extremely clean, and the front desk person was very nice. They even had fresh popcorn popped in the lobby for guests to take. They have a lot of food places nearby including fast food and regular restaurants. They had a free breakfast Buffett for the morning that including eggs, bacon, biscuits, gravy, waffles, cereal, as well as muffins, fruit, bagels, juice, and coffee. Well worth the price! read more

Excellent, excellent, excellent hotel!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The rooms appear to be newly refurbished and were VERY CLEAN!!!!!! The towels were also very very clean!!!!!!!!!!! Something else that really impressed me, was when the ladies cleaned the room next to me, I could smell their cleaning supplies in my room. That told me, that they do a very thorough job in cleaning their rooms!! Which made me feel very good about choosing this hotel!!!! Staff is super friendly, and they offer a hot breakfast!!! This was a great night's stopover en route between FL and TX. Friendly checkin. Clean, comfortable room. Good bed. Fridge, microwave, hairdryer, coffee-maker, TV. Wifi was a little slow but free. Heard just a little road noise. And, there's a towel animal on the bed to great you! read more

Most of the reviews before 2018 are for when this was a different, locally owned motel which got bought out. The rooms are updated and the shower was nice, but the room smelled heavily of chemical perfume. There were plenty of AC and USB outlets. The sheets and pillows, however, weren't that comfortable and I could've used a thicker blanket for the time of year. I checked in late and really needed the early morning rest, but there were AC repair guys clanging around all morning cleaning vents non-stop. I put in ear plugs, but they don't help with low-frequency banging and stomping. I regretted not going to the Comfort Inn down the road like I had originally planned for just $15 more. read more

Staff was very friendly and the room was clean. If I ever find myself back in Moss Point Mississippi I would stay here again.

The price + pet deposit is very competitive with nearby hotels. It's right off I10. The exit has everything you need. The room was very clean. It's an old hotel and it looks it on the outside. The rooms, however, were recently updated with laminate flooring (a big plus in my book for a hotel), paint, new covers and linens. The beds are fine. I didn't wake from back muscle spasms so I'm happy with a bed that doesn't cause those. A+++ roll down blackout shades on the windows. The staff was very courteous and helpful. One young man I spoke with briefly must have said ma'am 10 times! I wasn't even complaining about something. I consider this hotel to be a very good value. read more

Needed a quiet place away from everyone to do a very intense tax return for a customer. I chose to go here because I am a choice rewards member and the value of Econolodge is very good. I was able to get a double queen room on the top floor, which was good cause the peace and quiet helped. The lady at the front desk was extremely helpful in checking me in and helping me find a quiet room. I went to the nearby Pilot station and grabbed a quick meal, took it back to the hotel room to enjoy. The WiFi worked very well and allowed me to work efficiently on getting the return completed. Took a shower and the hot water was good and strong and lasted the whole time I took a shower. The bed was very comfortable and let me have a nice nights sleep. The AC kept the room.at a comfortable level and the clock has USB ports on it to be able to charge your devices. Overall a wonderful night and when I need a local escape will choose this place again. read more

I stayed 3 days for a death in the family and I was really impressed with the compassion, helpfulness and sheer hospitality of these folks. They gave us a great rate and a decent breakfast too. The room was not new but in good repair and smelled clean as well. The whole staff was beyond stellar in my opinion. This is a great place if you don't need a pool and a "brand name" to be happy. The internet was fast and easy to log into. I will stay here again if ever I pass this way again. read more

This hotel would have been rated a 4 star if it wasn't for the staff... I was checked in by Bay who was very kind and helpful. She had me checked in in no time at all. The price is fair and pet fees are also. However in the morning I go to the lobby for some coffee from the free breakfast. I was told 5 am is when breakfast starts. I go to the lobby and door was locked. The woman inside her name is I believe Precious she is a skinny small black woman who was working at 5 am on 8/18/19 she tells me from inside that they are closed. I said ok so I lite up my cigarette and she then comes to open the door and says to me "what chu need" I look at her and tell her I came to get a cup of coffee. She rudely tells me well breakfast isn't until 530 am.. I told her I was told 5am and all I wanted was coffee. We came from central Florida road tripping to Cali and had a long drive woke up this morning all I wanted was coffee and what I got was an attitude and eye rolls. Then my daughter locks us out the room and again nothing but attitude getting my husband pissed with the fact she gave me an attitude and then him also for asking for a key. She told him the door is locked for policy reasons when he didn't even ask her to open the lobby door he was asking her to open our room door. As security comes to open our door she then wants to come out the lobby to then interrupt my conversation with security about her, yelling the words " I ain't do that" and I told her to please be quiet so I can explain myself to security. What an unprofessional woman to work front desk at this hotel. It is sad to see that she has no understanding of work ethics or the fact that customers are the reason she gets paid. Without us there is no hotel and no workers. But I guess in this economy she doesn't care about her position and maybe needs a new career. One that doesn't require interactions with human beings maybe animals also because her attitude and rolling eyes and snapping gums I don't think she needs to be near anyone. She ruined our whole morning. Now we won't go in for coffee or anything in that lobby cuz we don't need the attitude.. I got my own coffee machine out my car to make my own coffee in my room. How pathetic .. free continental breakfast and I have to make my own coffee cuz of rude employees.. that's just unreal.. I will never stay here again and I really am hoping this was not a racial matter as I am a white woman. Something to think about. I do not recommend staying here it's not worth the aggravation. Sorry to Bay the other employee who was awesome. Because of Precious and her attitude this review is what it is.. doesn't matter how good or bad the hotel is when employees are rude. Easily the best hotel under a three star price rating I've seen in at least a decade. Clean, comfortable, and everyone speaks English.

Do you ever wonder where those disgusting, stained, used mattresses that you see discarded on the side of the road end up? We, unfortunately, had the "pleasure" of attempting to sleep on two of them last night during our stay at the Shular Inn. After spending an hour at a Mississippi rest stop desperately calling all of the hotels in a fifty mile radius, only the Shular Inn had a vacancy. We knew this was a concern, yet our lack of foresight left us with no other option. When entering our room, we were immediately struck by the musty, dirty mattress/carpet and stale smoke odors. Even though we were assured that the room was nonsmoking, the multiple ashtrays dispersed throughout the room told another story. It felt dirty. There were also a couple notable conversation pieces in the room: a TV remote covered by a plastic baggie and what appeared to be a wad of dirty towels left on the bed by the maid (or the previous occupant...?). Upon closer inspection, it was a "carefully crafted" dog sculpture made via washcloths and hand towels (a classic Pinterest fail!). Both were off putting. We couldn't understand why such measures were taken for a sanitized TV remote, when the mattresses had numerous mysterious human stains. The next morning, after a restless night, we were greeted by an unwelcome guest - a cockroach. It seemed to be quite comfortable with human interaction as it never scurried or hid. Seeking an ounce of cleanliness in this dirty ordeal, I reluctantly took a shower. Curiously, after showering, the towels were like drying off with wax paper. What could they have possibly been treated with to make them completely non absorbent? Scotchguard?! You know you did not have a good experience when you check for bedbugs, shake out your suitcases for roaches, and ultimately discard your toothbrush. From the parking lot to the room, three words define the Shular: unsettling, creepy, and filthy. Unless you are capturing a scene for a Lifetime movie called "Fiery Infidelity," I do not recommend this motel. read more
