Econo Lodge used to be a Quality Inn back in the day. Over the years, the "quality" has definitely declined. That probably explains why it is now an Econo Lodge. My family and I made a quick trip to visit other family in the area. It just so happened to be Memorial Day Weekend and we made a last minute decision to spend the night. Considering it's a holiday weekend and short notice, the cost of other, better hotels in the area were insane. Therefore, we settled for staying here. On the positive side, it appears they did do some small renovations with the flooring and the beds. They now have hardwood floors. However, everything else needs renovating. Since I knew I would be going home the next day, I refused to shower in there. I waited until I got home. If there's one thing I'm picky about, it's a hotel. Therefore, this is a place that I would rather not stay in if I can help it. read more

We were looking for a place to rest our heads traveling from MA to NC. Our route needed to take us through Bethany Beach and not wanting to spend a huge amount for a quick overnight, we made the mistake picking this motel. I'm not super fancy-all I want is a clean and safe place. the best thing about this motel was the gentleman at the check-in; he was very,very nice. I think we would have been less clean if we showered rather than just staying as we were from our day of driving. When we woke, our plan was to beat feet, especially after my daughter found a dead cockroach under the toilet. Didn't cockroach died in the fifthly bathroom!! lol. My suggestion - if you find yourself in this area, spend the money and stay somewhere nicer, which would be anywhere else. My family has never left a hotel so fast. bed bugs!!!!! please be aware so your family doesn't get affected by this!!!! we stayed 2 nights and ended up leaving and not extending our stay. I was so grossed out and knew something wasn't right I couldn't even sleep under the covers. The pool was never open either and only nice thing they had to offer. After we stripped beds to look for an infestation , we noticed that our children's comforter had been flipped over and had a hige urine stain on it. was never washed or change. read more

This whole place is downright unhealthy for anyone to stay at. The tub was rusty, the pool was disgusting, the bathroom toilet didn't work. The manager lied like a rug saying the 4 rooms he showed me were newly renovated which was a complete utter lie. I would never recommend staying here. When I say looks are deceiving this is one of those times. When I brought the problems up as respectfully as possible all he had to say was no refund and okay. DO NOT STAY HERE If i could rate this 0/5 stars i would. let me first start by saying, my friend and i had planned a trip to visit Chincoteague Island, Va. We were looking for a close commute to the island, but the closer we got, became more expensive. We came across this Econolodge and booked through booking.com for a 4 night stay. As people do, we checked reviews and did not find anything alarming. We booked the motel and prepared for our trip, 5 hours away. We came across some reviews that were pretty scary, so we prepared ourselves by bringing cleaning supplies just incase. We could not cancel the room due to it being too close to the date. When we arrived, we stepped into the room and the SMELL of mildew hits you in the face. We walked around the room checking every corner, under things, the bed, bathroom etc. It was all very dirty. We got to cleaning and came across mold in the fridge and bathroom. I refused to stay in a room that has mold. dirt is one thing, it can be cleaned. i spoke with the manager right after, and was then offered another room. the manager says, " i will show you our best room, and it's the cleanest. i've double checked" i walk into the room, same smell, same dirty ness, same mold. i then told him i wanted a refund. i was refused a refund because i booked through a 3rd party. i was also told that because i booked through a 3rd party i received a discount, that they normally charge $150 a night. WHAT?? we were expected to stay in filth, mold and mildew. we had to make the best of it because we had just drove 5 hours and had no where to go. we cleaned the room from top to bottom, scrubbing everything. even so, the room smelled like mildew. our bed sheets were filthy upon arriving. hair, dirt, and what appeared to be animal hair. we requested new sheets for the room, and got those promptly. BECAUSE i had checked the reviews once again before my trip, i found more bad reviews. i called the motel 2 days before my arrival to make sure my room was cleaned before i came. i was then assured by the manager it would be spotless. welp most of the cleaning crew was nice, but the ONE thing we did not appreciate was when someone went into our room while we were away. there was a do not disturb sign on the door, but they entered anyways. i understand it's a motel service, but it says do not disturb for a reason. i don't want anyone in our room while we are away. for the most part. the area is very quiet. you will have some noisy neighbors from time to time, but other than that it's peaceful. SO, with this experience and the refusal to negotiate something with paying customers, i will not be returning to this filth they call a motel. if this is a place where you absolutely have to stay to sleep it will do, BUT please prepare yourself by bringing your own cleaning equipment. after we cleaned everything it felt like home, besides the faint smell of mildew seeping through the wall from time to time. i did not capture any other photos, as i forgot before we cleaned. but here's just ONE video that will make your stomach curl. also, who ever painted the walls must have had their eyes closed the whole time because there was paint splatter all over the floor and lampshades. the water smelled of iron, so it's kinda hard to brush your teeth or shower without wanting to throw up THANKS ECONOLODGE, for almost ruining our vacation :) read more

The worst experience that I ever had with my family, this is ridiculous the owner of this place took us out just because one member of my family have 5 kids and they were under 13 years he was saying that the room was only for 4 people so does she had to get another room and let her kids (8,5,3,1) sleep by their self?? He want us to get another room for them. I told him that if he can give our money back and we can get another place around her because we live 6 hours away and we came here just for a trip. This is ridiculous I understand the room is just for 4 people but they're kids!!!!!! And the only thing I did was open the door and went to the bathroom and that was soooooo disgusting... just please clean those rooms specifically in this time of COVID..... read more

After a long day of driving and pulling over to fill my car with gas, I longed for a place to sit on my ass. So I chose the Econo Lodge in Pocomoke City. If I had known what my experience would be like, it would have been a hard pass. When we walked in, the floor was dirty, like real dirty. We looked around the room and it looked like whoever painted the place had their eyes closed the whole time. Anyway, we headed toward the bathroom, and what I saw was something I wish I could unsee. There was dirt, hair, flies, and bad vibes all around in this bathroom. It was very late at night, and no other hotels in the area had any availability (trust me we called every single one) so we decided to just stay for a few hours and leave as soon as possible. I would not make my worst enemy stay here. It is very sketchy and looks like the classic run down motel in the movies. Save your sanity and keep driving to the next hotel no matter how far it is. I read the reviews and some of them are probably very TRUE. I use this forum to rate the VALUE, QUALITY, COST, LEVEL OF SERVICE, ETC. If you're looking for a five star luxury hotel with doorman and high end amenities, this itsy the place. However, if your want a defect place to rest, watch a little TV, freshen up and continue your journey, I'd highly recommend the Econo Lodge. This motel is off a small highway with a straightforward and clearly stated mission... Provide a place to rest and stay with peace of mind. This motel is like a scene out of a movie, when someone is on the run and stays at a cheap motel. So, I'm keeping in mind that this is an inexpensive place in writing this review. We paid for the room through booking.com and the listing said this is a pet friendly place. But upon arrival, we were charged an extra $20 for having a pet. That wasn't disclosed. Total cost for 2 adults, 1 child, 1 dog was $143 plus a nickel and dime charge of $20 on arrival. The WiFi was terrible there, connection was useless. Also, free breakfast was advertised but there was no breakfast. The room smelled like cigarettes and mold. So, if you have allergies, this is not the place for you. Sheets were clean, but the floor was dirty so we wore flip flops in the room. The entire complex is in need of repairs and it was entertaining to see all the jerry rigged fixes. read more

Stayed here for one night since we were going to OC/Assateague Island and all the rooms closer were ridiculously expensive for one night (ranging $500-900). The motel is about 45m out from OC, had a 8-ft pool and served continental breakfast. The room itself smelled a little musty, so bring a scented candle to burn (seriously). The shower faucet was broken and the hot water had to be repaired once during our stay. These types of problems are expected at a MOTEL...this is NOT the Ritz Carlton, Holiday Inn or a bed and breakfast. You may also want to bring some Lysol spray, cleansing wipes, and bedding/sheets--that's your prerogative, but the room serves its purpose: a place to sleep, s** and shower. There were several other families staying there, the area seemed safe and was convenient to grocery shopping, restaurants, etc. The gentleman who booked the room, VJ, was extremely friendly and helpful before and during our stay and assured us that the problems we experienced would be resolved--and they were. Wasn't the best experience, but it also wasn't the worst. You get what you pay for. read more

This "newly remodeled room" according to the owner had an antiquated AC unit, bathroom exhaust fan that sounded like a freight train, broken shower plumbing and NO HOT WATER AT ALL. Checked into room 127 late in the evening on 6/25/21. As soon as we arrived, we noticed the room wasn't the cleanliest (dead flies, dog hair on sheets, childs toys under chair). We then realized that there was cockroaches (2) running around on the wall, and found one on our pillow. We immediately notified the man at the front desk (didn't catch his name) who said he would come "clean the room". He didn't seem surprised at all at our accusations. He showed up quickly with a broom and a bath towel and some disinfectant spray. He swept the entry way and gave us the can of spray...not much help. We asked to move to a different room (we had already called every other hotel within an hour and everyone was completely booked for the weekend), and he said he couldn't because he was booked. In the AM we tried to run a shower and were met with no hot water We told the gentleman at the front desk we would not be staying another night and he refunded us for our unspent night, but refused to refund any money for Friday night because "he could've rented out that room to someone else" No regard for how dirty the hotel is. We booked a room here for one night on our way down to North Carolina. The room was very clean and the service excellent. I realized that I had left my glasses at the hotel and called to see if they could check. The manager immediately went to the room and found them. He held them in the office until we were passing through again, 5 days later. I highly recommend this hotel. read more

Manager informed us that a gentleman stayed there for 10 days straight and denied housekeeping. I also posted the pictures on here. Very poor experience! Don't ever stay here. We had our tire slashed from some guy staying 2 rooms down from us who thought our dog dug up his stash of God knows what from out back. Please if you value your life don't stay at this hotel. And the rooms are discusting, odor, and food behind the dresser. read more

The hotel was decent and the staff was friendly, clean and comfortable. However the internet didn't work at all and was very annoying. No free water at the hotel which was annoying because we had to travel to the Walmart for water. The breakfast was average, I personally enjoyed it. read more

Unfortunately this was the only place (hotel/motel) that had a room for the evening. The room looked newly renovated however there were small but noticeable issues. Flies in the room, heating unit didn't work, and the door was hard to open easily. The main issue was the in room internet didn't/ doesn't work. Management tried to help but with no really solution. I never leave reviews but omg No just no. As someone who has stayed in plenty hotels this was by far the worst. Flies were so bad we bought raid and a fly trap while we were there. We also went and bought our own towels because the ones they had smelled and has stains. The room look like it has the bare minimum done to it (bed was made) and that's all. There were many dead bugs and the floor was terribly dirty. Look for yourself. This place needs to be shut down and the health department needs to come check it out. 1 star for good faith. He has threatened to call the cops on me because we went outside to smoke a cigarette. He threatened to call the cops because our friends were here (meanwhile they rented another hotel room at a different hotel and were just hanging out after we were done doing what we were doing for the day. Definitely won't ever stay here again The Good - Check in was easy and CSR Mike was very nice and helpful.The room had new floating wood floors and looked nice. The continental breakfast wasn't too bad for just a quick snack and coffee. Fairly close to our destination and a few places to eat dinner. The BAD - The whole place was filthy. The rooms were very musty and dirty. The air conditioner wouldn't work on anything but 60 degrees. The smoke alarm chirped crazy loud every 2 minutes and i had to take it off the wall and put it in my vehicle. The WiFi was no existent. The bathroom was really dirty , and we wouldn't even let our daughter take a bath. We paid $140 to stay in this hotel is what made it so frustrating. read more

Three stars because while it really wasn't great... It wasn't awful. It's about 30-40 minutes away from the Assateague Beach while I thought would be more like 20 minutes. Also there is a musty smell in the room like mentioned before. We just sprayed some Lysol and fixed that right up. Probably my biggest disappointment the whole stay was the simple fact that they didn't even serve water during breakfast. Like they had some lemon water throughout the day, at night when we checked in. But then they took away the water and your only option if you wanted water was to buy it from the vending machine. In my opinion that's just ridiculous. Come on, you have free breakfast and you can't even serve water. Sad sad sad. It does have a pool however we didn't end up using it. The room was musty, the curtains and doors didn't close all the way, and there was still hair in the sink.If you're exhausted and it's all that's around then it'll do the job but I almost wish I'd just slept in my car. The room smelled awful, there were mice, and the toilet over flowed and flooded the room. I booked this on Tavelocity.com and paid in advance, a mistake i will not make again. There were flies all over the room, bugs ,also some wierd insects looked like crickets.... i know I shouldn't be expecting much for what i paid $80 a night but they can atleast provide the Basic things that is supposed to be provided for what we pay which is cleanliness. On August 4, while on vacation, I used the online reservation system to book a room at this establishment for Saturday, August 6 as our stop over upon returning north from vacation. Unfortunately, I inadvertently did not notice that during the process the date either reset or was never changed to reflect the August 6th date and in error I made the reservation for that day, August 4. I called the hotel front desk within 10 minutes (confirmation email cross referenced with my cell phone records will verify this time differential) and was told that they could not change my reservation as it was in violation of their cancellation policy. I was not attempting to *cancel* the reservation. I was attempting to explain the error and change the reservation for August 6. Interesting side note to all of this: the Saturday, August 6 rate was actually more expensive and would have been to the financial benefit of the hotel. When I attempted to make this change with the front desk, my request was denied and I was told the manager was "out to dinner" and could not be reached. I was directed to call back within a couple of hours. In the meantime, because there was a sense of urgency on my part, I attempted to call the reservation number listed on the website to see if I could make the change more expediently through them. They, in turn, contacted the front desk and were similarly rebuffed. I was instructed to call the toll-free line again in one and a half hours. Which I did. With the same exact result. During that interaction the representative at the toll free line, in speaking to the front desk staff at the hotel, was told that the manager was gone for the night, and they had not been clear that I wanted to a change (as opposed to a cancellation), but that our only avenue of recourse was to call the next morning at 8am. I found this to be absurd and contacted the customer service representative. She was incredibly helpful, sympathetic, and understanding. When she contacted the hotel on my behalf it was discovered that the manager was, in fact, on premises but had simply declined to take the earlier call. He was then rude to the customer service representative, as evidenced by the distress she expressed upon coming back on the line with me. Ultimately, I was charged nearly $100 as a "no show" due to an error that I reported and attempted to remedy in mere minutes. This is a disgrace and I will use every available outlet to ensure that folks out there realize what sort of "business" they are dealing with when they deal with the Econo Lodge in Pocomoke City, MD, and its parent company. read more

This does not even deserve any stars. I went to check in and had to pick up a phone to call front desk help. The voice on the other end said I be up in a minute. The gentleman was not professionally dressed. Just looked like he lived there and I disturbed him. I checked June 26, 2016. I left on June 26, 2016. This is what I found. The pool was a grungy mess with indoor outdoor carpet that had moss growing around the pool furniture and up the legs. Multiple cracks in the pool . The rooms had a distinct odor to the point that I just left after an hour. Never even turned the bed back. The air conditioners are on the walls and I would suggest they contributed to the moisture and smell in the rooms. Trees were over grown and the parking lot was filled with multiple water holes. There were two guys standing around that must live there and work there. I can't say enough about this experience except. Enter at your own Risk. read more
