This past weekend I had the pleasure of staying in the Langston Hughes room with my mom. Our stay was only one night, but we both agreed that we would love to return! Our room was really cozy, as is the house in general. There was no TV in our room which I thought was great. Not having that enhanced the feeling of relaxation and getting away. The Langston Hughes room was so detailed for the time period in which he lived, from the light fixtures to the old rotary phone and radio. The room had a water closet inside, so no worries about having to share a bathroom with other guests. Breakfast is served in the morning, English style. We were treated to tea, beans, toast with jam, and fried egg, mini sausages, and impeccably cooked bacon. I'd never had English beans, so I sort of expected them to taste like what you'd get at a cookout. That is not the case! I can't say what they're similar to but I definitely recommend them. We were also able to try chocolate and biscuits from England. The owner, Heidi, is such a pleasant, warm, and inviting person. She's very knowledgeable about things to do in the area, where to grab a good meal, and things like that. What I really enjoyed was her desire to share about her English culture. Having never been myself, I really appreciated listening to her talk about where she comes from and all the touches of "home" she incorporates into the inn. In Princess Anne, skip the regular hotel or motel experience, and book a room at Book Lovers!

Once inside it was very clean and organized home. Once we checked in we were shown the TV room, the eating area (cookies were waiting) and then our room. Be prepared there is a distinct British theme in the home....lol Our room was clean, towels in the bathroom and a tub. The hostess gave us some tips about where to go during our stay. The bed was comfortable and breakfast was waiting for us in the morning. After breakfast we took up the hostess on her suggestion and visited Berlin, MD. Small town, but had antique shops, friendly people and free parking. We arrived back that evening, watched TV for a bit and retired to our room. The next morning was an English Breakfast and we headed back home. Overall it was a relaxing and great experience at this B&B. We'll return in the future!

That should be mentioned in the check in text instead of to head right to your room. Major con for my husband and he would have given if three stars for how annoyed he was by the TVs-None of the TVs work - the remotes are absurd and channels don't correlate to the guide that pops up, and the tv has only basic cable and a few channels- all the streaming apps are present but blocked somehow. Theyre exceptionally hard to navigate. For a bungalow at the beach, sometimes you want to watch tv. Also wish terribly that they had a hot tub, seems like a big miss for such a great resort! I made an overnight visit to Chincoteague Island last month to attend my 50th high school reunion…read more Yep. I'm that old. Chincoteague was where I went to high school, and I lived there for five years. While planning my trip, I contacted a number of hotels and motels. The Seahawk Motel was the one that gave me the best rate. And so my reservation was made. Since I review mostly restaurants, I originally did not plan on a review of the Seahawk Motel. As a result, I did not take any photos. However, a number of attractive photos are featured on their web site linked below: http://seahawkchincoteague.com/ My drive from Norfolk took me about two-and-a-half hours. After crossing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, I drove at a leisurely pace until I made a pit stop at Stuckey's, located along Route 13 on the right in the town of Mappsville. I always stop into Stuckey's when driving over to the Eastern Shore. It makes for a nice rest area, and I always enjoy looking at their fireworks displays. I made a second stop at T's Corner in Oak Hall to top off my gas tank. This is where you make a right hand turn onto VA-175 East, also known as Chincoteague Road, and which leads directly to the island. The Wallops Flight Facility is located along VA-175. Formerly known as the Chincoteague Naval Air Station, it was acquired by NASA in 1959. I worked there during the summers while attending college. The name was changed to the Wallops Flight Facility in 1981 when it became part of the Goddard Space Flight Facility. About a little more than halfway along Chincoteague Road, I reached the John B. Whealton Memorial Causeway, which is more commonly known to the locals as the Chincoteague Causeway. It was rebuilt and completed in 2010. The original Causeway, which was in use during my high school years, stopped directly into downtown Chincoteague at Main Street. The new one stops at the intersection of Main Street and Maddox Boulevard, which leads directly to my motel, as well as to the Assateague Island National Wildlife Refuge. After reaching Main Street, I proceeded straight ahead along Maddox Boulevard. The Seahawk Motel is located less than a mile away on the right. It sports a colorful orange roof that is hard to miss. Across the street is the Island Creamery, which is Chincoteague's only homemade ice cream shop. It first opened in 1975 and is rated by another social media site as the number one ice cream shop in the United States. I meant to stop in, but it didn't happen. I'll be sure to do so during my next visit. The Seahawk Hotel is an old-fashioned Mom and Pop style motel, operated by Brenda and Carey Watson, both of whom are natives of Chincoteague Island. They treated me well and with a lot of hospitality. Outdoor amenities include a pool, shaded picnic areas with tables and chairs, a gas grill, a playground for children with swings included, bike racks, and plenty of parking for extra cars, boats, and trailers. Two-bedroom units and efficiencies are also available. The motel is also dog friendly. In fact, the operators have a friendly dog of their own, whose name is Abby, and who keeps a watchful eye on the office when they are off the premises. My room came with two Queen sized beds, cable TV, free WiFi. a microwave oven, a small refrigerator, and a coffee pot. My room was impeccably clean, and the bathroom was well furnished with clean towels. The beds were well made, and the one I slept in was more comfortable than the one I have at home. In fact, it was more comfortable than some of the beds I have slept in at a few higher end hotels elsewhere. Their window unit AC also cranked out a crisper level of coolness than my central air unit at home. As soon as I checked into my room, I unpacked and took a nap to rest up for my reunion, which was held at a local restaurant that evening. I slept like a baby, both during my nap and when I went to bed after the reunion. The Seahawk Motel has been described as a "no frills" motel. It actually contained more frills than I needed and used. I didn't even turn on the TV during my stay. Since I don't drink coffee, I didn't use the coffee pot. The Seahawk Motel provided me everything I could possibly want and ask for in a motel. I left early in the morning for my return to Norfolk. The proprietors hadn't arrived yet, so I dropped my keys in their mailbox, as instructed to do so. I drove straight home without any stops and arrived back to Norfolk in just a little over two hours. The Seahawk Motel provided me with a most relaxing overnight stay, and it will be my lodging of choice when I make my next trip to Chincoteague. In closing, I want to thank Brenda and Carey Watson for their warm and friendly hospitality, as well as for their exceptionally clean, comfortable, and well maintained accommodations.
