I have been a customer for over 5 years - bought 3 sets of tires, brakes, done all the flushes, differentials and lots of oil changes...I put on a lot of KMs in a year. Today I went for my winter tire change - left it for the day as they asked and got there at 5 only to be told it hasn't been done. I voiced my disappointment and the manager was good - got the car in right away. 5 minutes later, I am told they can't switch the tires because two of the winters have the wear bar showing...upset, I left vowing not to buy my 4th set of tires there. It made me wonder why I wasn't made aware of this when they switched the tires out in the spring...I was told they cannot put those tires on because they won't pass a safety,....why were they given back to me in the spring? Regardless, that is my last oil change, tire purchase, and flush I will have done at Economy Lube. I don't recommend this place to any. It's big scam and bunch of con artists. They do anything to get your money. Came in for diagnostic and told me that my rear brake pads needed change which is lot of money and tried to rush me into accepting now. Afterwards, I went to 2 different mechanics for second opinion which were honest with me and told me that my brake pads are good and doesn't need replaced. This place are crooks and avoid it. I went to this location for a routine oil change and the mechanic told me that my car needed a coolant flush. I agreed to this because I had never had a coolant flush before and thought it would be good for my car. I started having issues with the heating in my car and overall performance and took my car to a different mechanic to be serviced. The mechanic took me to my car and showed me how low and dirty my coolant was and informed me that it was still the original coolant that the car came with. He said Not only has it not been flushed but it has never even been changed. This Economy Lube location scammed me into buying a coolant flush then didn't even do the service on my car which lead me to have multiple other issues with my engine. DO NOT take your car to this establishment. They are scammers and will take your money without performing the services you're paying for. read more

Everytime I look at the passenger side of my van it reminds me of this place. Went in for an oil change at the same time as they were oil spraying another car. They got oil spray all over the side of my van and didn't even reset the internal oil reminder and I had to reset it myself. Sloppy work and I do not recommend going there. Still upset with them but it's not worth driving back there for them to wash my van or whatever they would do to fix it. read more

Got in for an oil change, very straight forward small car 4 cylinder conventional oil 5w20. The bay they pulled in just happened to be the closest to the waiting room I watched while the mechanic worked, didn't see the oil actually drop out of the drain. I have been changing my own oil for 40 years, always 5000kms. So when they finished I asked to see the dipstick. A typical courtesy at most quality oil change shops. I wiped some oil on my finger. It was still black. When I asked the guy at the counter, he said "you probably have sludge in your oil, do you change the oil regular?" He asked if I would like him to drain it in front of me to prove it was changed, an odd request.. Then immediately he pulled the drain plug. It looked black to me so I asked for a sample. Not provided. $5 off coupon was not honoured despite me providing prior to the work. Apparently "premium" oil was used although I was clear I just wanted the cheapest oil. When I got it home I checked the level. Overfilled, and thick like 5w30.. Now the car is hard starting, so wife asked me to change it again, I did it myself to save some money.. will see if that was the issue read more

Warning! This store performs fraud everyday. The town has not yet taken action to take disciplinary action on the owner of the company yet. Hopefully, the residents there choose to do so soon. BEWARE!! I had my tires changed at the Hespeler Road location and the very next day my tire flew off my car. The only good thing that came out of this is thankfully nobody was hurt because it could have gone very badly. My tire flew off the car, bounced over a lane of traffic and over the bridge on to hwy 401. MTO and OPP luckily were able to retrieve it. The front drivers side of my car was smashed in from the impact of my car hitting the ground. When I spoke to the locations manager he had his boss call me back. This person tried to bully me into taking my car to the guys he deals with to have it looked at... respectfully, your guys couldn't change my tire so why would I consider going somewhere that's convenient for you just because you say so... On top of that he said that he was very busy and basically he was offering his help now but this was my chance. Totally rude, like this conversation was a waste of time. First of all, I'm sure you're a busy guy but please don't underestimate how busy I also am, and I'm the one that had to take time off of work to deal with an accident that was the fault of the business he is in charge of. The time I had to spend dealing with this whole thing way outweighs the 10 minute long conversation I had with this guy. In the end I never got anywhere with him because all he wanted was for me to do what he said. Honestly, these people should be fined for their carelessness that caused an accident. It's not right that they walk away with no consequence to their action... and possibly should have their licenses looked at by the school of trades. I changed my oil there many times and my radiator fluid and transmission fluids and power steering fluids and it was done right and quick! I highly recommend them and they are very friendly people! Lube shops are always questionable. I have a regular mechanic that I would normally see, but he was swamped. I seen the big sign in front on this place "synthetic oil change $39.99". That's not a terrible price so I tried it out. Get in and it's only "semi synthetic", i think that's false advertising. Anyways, two cars ahead of me, so I wait in the waiting room. The owners of both of those cars got called into the shop, to be up sold. They had their cars finished and were off. Then my turn. They tried to tell me my car needed to have the coolant and power steering fluid flushed. It would be $90 for each one, plus the oil change. I told them I would go to MY mechanic for a second opinion. At which point I got "tell ya what. You do the two services and I won't charge you for the oil chamge." Told him no thanks and was off with just an oil change. Anyway, I've now been to my mechanic, who could have easily just said "ya you need these services" and I would have paid him to do it. But he told me it was unnecessary and that if I did flush them out it would do little to nothing for any problems I might have. These companies make almost no money off an oil change. Only a few bux profit for one. That's why they up sell like crazy. I seen him tell four people including me that they needed more. Watch out for places like this. Just and oil change please. I was concerned with all of the negative reviews this company gets but one of the reviewers reminded me that these are franchise stores and so your experience may vary depending on where you go. I decided to give the 688 Hespeler Road location a try and was very happy with the results. Before going, I decided to check the fluid levels and air filter myself to ensure their findings were in line with my expectations. I also made small markings, with a sharpie, on my air filter and oil filter so I would know what if anything changed as a result of my visit. The visit I drove in and was immediately greeted by a friendly courteous representative. I was informed that this would be a 10 minute visit. I handed him my keys and walked into the store where I was greeted again by another friendly courteous representative. I was offered a seat and informed that the first rep would be right with me. The first rep comes back to discuss the oil I wanted. At this point he did recommend a more expensive synthetic oil but I declined. He went back to work and then returned shortly with a report of his findings. He said that everything was in good shape and his only recommendation was that sometime in the future I should consider a cooling system flush. He said his recommendation was solely based on the age of the car (6 years) and that this was something I could discuss with my mechanic. He also said this was a service that Economy Lube offered and that if at some point I was interested, the service would include a discounted oil change. These guys did exactly what they said they would do. That was it, a quick, friendly, inexpensive service offered and delivered! I can't speak for all the Economy Lube locations but I can definitely recommend the one at 688 Hespeler Road. Thanks Guys. read more

I was sucked in by the coupon for a $19.99 oil change that was in my flyers. First of all, they said that my car uses a more expensive kind of oil so I couldn't have that deal. Then they said that the transmission fluid and the coolant needed to be flushed. They were nice, place seemed clean and professional, and they were offering to give me what they said was an "incredible" deal. So I told them to go ahead. Took my car to a reputable, well established full service mechanic the next month after watching the Marketplace expose of Economy Lube's fraudulent practices (feeling very stupid because I had basically fallen for their textbook scam) and my mechanic said that not only were my transmission and coolant NOT flushed at all, because my car is a standard the transmission flush can't even be done and shouldn't be. So, I paid $200 for an oil change with very poor quality oil, and for them to claim that they did work that they didn't do. Never again. read more
