We hired Ecosense through the architects we worked with on our home remodel. While their concept for creating more sustainable landscapes is lovely, the outcome of the work we hired them to do could left a lot to be desired and a decent hole in our pocket book. They contract almost all heavy lifting machinery out, which made our fairly simple project very expensive. The plants they brought with them were all very small and within the 90 days several grasses had to be replaced. There are so many glowing reviews here on Yelp, perhaps we did not get the full experience of working with them since the actual landscape design was done by the architects. So, I might not rule them out if you're looking for a full rain harvesting set-up. read more

I sent out inquiries to a few places for landscaping, one of them was Ecosense. I emailed back and forth a couple times with an admin and tried to find a time and date that worked. Emailing was confusing and I asked if I would pay prior to the appointment and asked for them to confirm the date I said I was free. I never heard back. Two months later they said they showed up and charged me $95 for a no show fee. It just feels very predatory for confusing communication. I went with another company and they are saying I have to pay them this no show fee. Go somewhere else with more direct and straightforward communication/policies. read more

Scott Calhoun of Zona Gardens recommended Eli and EcoSense Landscaping, along with two other groups, after he drew up our landscape architecture plan. Meeting with Eli we had a great vibe from the get go. He is clearly very passionate about what he does and it shows. He gave us the most detailed and professional quote (when compared to the other two we interviewed) and when things changed in our plan he would immediately send an updated invoice so we always knew where we stood. It was a big project and I truly appreciated him keeping us in the loop. He finished all the work on time and our space is still gorgeous a year later with very little upkeep needed. Right after everything was installed we had a big monsoon with 5 inches of rain hitting our place and quite a few things were washed out. I let him know and asked how much it would be to fix it and he said he would happily fix the washed out places no charge. I did tell him I wanted to see if we could put in rip rap to help mitigate this happening again and his pricing was extremely good and he able to set that up quickly. Honestly I couldn't recommend anyone more than Eli and his team. Every single member was professional, courteous, and wanted to be there. If you need a landscape team, look no further. read more

For a while we have wanted to redesign our yard, and rainwater harvesting and xeriscaping was a priority. We discussed our ideas with rainwater harvesting companies and landscape designers in town. Ecosense really understood how to put the two priorities together. Eli and Andrew listened well and also recognized our desire to have a child-friendly play space and garden beds. They created an exciting design plan and were present for nearly the entire instlallation. They not only addressed our goals and priorities but did so in a creative way. We are really excited about the final outcome. Since the yard was completed the children have spent many hours engrossed in play. we have spent time outside with the entire family and we have planted seeds and love running out to watch them grow. We've enjoyed watching the passive basin fill during the recent rains and have been happy to see that the water which used to pool near our house is now directed away. We can't say enough about Eli, Andrew and their whole crew. We recommend them without hesitation and are excited to see them help others transform their yards while conserving resources. read more

I like their concept, and love the idea of sustainable landscaping. I had a hard time scheduling them, they forgot about me and I had to call them multiple times to get the job scheduled. They apologized for forgetting me. Ok, it happens. So I scheduled them for one yard. they did a quick and good job when they came. When it came time to pay, they added an extra 10%-- the final cost seemed high, considering they provided no landscaping plants, just the landforming and small boulders. but since they did the job on time in the small window of time I had to get it done, I paid them on the spot. They emailed me a one page conceptual sketch for another part of my yard with a basic cost estimate-- which we were to schedule in a few months. This sketch was for my approval of the general concept. When I contacted them to get the work done they said I had to pay extra money for this rough sketch. - Though this cost had never been mentioned. The office manager was argumentative and accusatory towards me. After much phone discussion and my emailing them back the emails they had sent me twice, they finally realized they had made a mistake. I felt like though their work was quick their business approach was sloppy - for work that would have totaled $5,000, they should have provided me with a detailed quote with plans. My bad that I didn't insist in getting everything in writing. Though my initial impression is that they were nice guys, I would never use them, since they can't manage their paperwork and jumped to accuse me of cheating them, when it was their own mistake. Eli from EcoSense Landscaping came to do an irrigation audit at my home. He communicated well and was very flexible. In addition to the audit he identified ways to minimize water use, combine, reposition and simplify use of pots. When he left the areas around my house were cleaner, and I had a good plan for moving forward. read more

Eli and Andrew were great to work with in designing a rainwater harvesting system for our adobe home. They came up with a system that captures water from the rear portion of the house, allowing us to hide the tanks while harvesting gallons of water! The two fall storms after completion of the system have filled the 1100 and 800 gallon tanks and will allow me to use rainwater for garden watering until winter. Their team worked hard on getting the installation done right and we are just sorry we didn't do this sooner! Thanks, guys! read more

This company is very professional and the staff are very pleasant. They listen to the customer needs and make appropriate suggestions. I had a continuous leak from a back flow that previous companies failed to be able to fix. The staff at Ecosense worked tirelessly to determine what was wrong and fixed it. Turns out it was a faulty installation from the previous landscape company. It now works perfectly and my water bill is cut in half. read more

Eli and Andrew were great in helping us to develop and implement a water harvesting plan decreasing our water use with our backyard grass area. They came up with a great design and installed a beautiful pollinator garden while cutting our grass area in half. We also have a really cool desert tortoise habitat that they designed and that Salvadore loves! They and their crew Tony and the guys do great work in a timely manner. We were delayed in starting because of Covid-19 but once on the schedule things were done quickly. Although are project was not inexpensive they do terrific work and also have a nice sense of humor! He always has great suggestions and has an extensive knowledge of native plants and water harvesting. His staff are extremely hardworking and responsive to requests, and they can also offer solutions to yard issues. They replaced a putting green with a desert landscape for us. The only thing they did well was to prepare the ground. Make no mistake, it included a lot of backbreaking labor. They did a great job of cleanup also. They installed plants that not only were too small, not enough to utilize the area, one that died, and 'boulders' that even I could lift. Nothing was in proportion to the size of the place. We paid $50 for wildflower seeds that never germinated! Not one seed! They left one section completely empty! Like it wasn't even there! In the contract they stated they would bury other boulders in our yard. They did only 3 and just ignored the others. If you're just looking for manual laborers, give them a try. If you're looking for a landscaper and a beautiful new setting at your home, do NOT use this company!! read more

EcoSense may indeed be a terrific company, but before you spend too much of your time trying to contact them be aware that they must be VERY busy (which is probably be due to their high quality service -- I don't know). Regardless, just as an FYI, I sent them an inquiry early Monday morning through their website's contact form requesting a bid for a new irrigation system. By Thursday, I still had not heard anything back, so I sent them a second request via their email address, suspecting that their website link may have had a problem. I finally got a call from someone in their office, who confirmed that my first inquiry through their contact form did indeed go through. She then told me that they couldn't meet with us until the end of September (approx. one month later), and that their yard evaluation and bid would be $150. I thought all this was exorbitant, so I declined. Which is really too bad, because I was excited to read about all that they do. Again, I'm sure they're a great company if you have the time and money, but I thought it was important to provide potential clients some information on EcoSense's time frame for consultation, bid process, and its associated cost. It would be nice if this information was available on their beautifully designed website, so we could have all this in advance. read more

They certainly took all of our suggestions into consideration. Our project required a lot of hardscape as well landscape work and everything was well executed.
