Well, I have lived in this small community for the last 2.5 years. Last year, Santa Rita took over the landscaping for the HOA. I walk and ride my bike daily thru the community and had noticed how much better things are looking, how very nice and professional all the landscapers have been and I had to Yelp about it. I don't know what they charge (again, HOA contract) but from a residents' perspective, it's really been a noticeable improvement. On January 4, 2022, Santa Rita Landscaping went through the Hidden Hills subdivision spraying that green weed prevention solution along the curbs. They were hired by the City of Tucson since we recently had our roads repaired. The problem was that the guy doing the spraying was very careless. His actions were like that of a five year old child playing with a backyard hose. That green stuff was going everywhere. Some of the neighbors had flowers and trees sprayed which destroyed them. Other households have children that play in the front yards. That solution isn't safe for kids or pets. The city didn't warn us about the spraying so they're partly to blame for this. Some of the houses around here have security cameras. We can see what's going on in the street from multiple angles. If the guys from SRL want to stick their hands in their pants to adjust themselves multiple times, it's very possible that they'll be caught on camera. Don't think we can't see you just because you're hiding behind the truck. Wear well-fitting underwear and maybe you won't have to rearrange your junk all day. read more

Great team to work with with many years of experience getting the job done, on time and on budget.

In March 2022 we decided to remodel our backyard. We had a pretty good idea of the things we wanted and a vision of what we thought it could look like in the end. We wanted a covered outdoor Island BBQ, Fire Pit, a Large Patio with pavers, and the rest of the yard landscaped with boulders, low maintenance plants and cactus, colored gravel, and drip irrigation. We contacted multiple companies to provide quotes and although Santa Rita Landscaping LLC was not the cheapest, they came across as the most professional, well organized, and with a very sophisticated project plan and drawings. We worked closely with Jeremy to refine the design and choose the materials that best fit our vision. We did run into delays due to availability of the type of pavers we selected, but Jeremy and his team found a way to get them shipped in from another area with minimal delay. Once the project was scheduled, initial meetings and job walk completed, the crew showed up at dawn the next morning ready get started. We worked with Keone as Project Manager on a daily basis, along with Esteban the brick mason and his helper who were building the island BBQ and fire pit, also trenching for power and gas lines. We also had the landscape lead Jaime and his helpers Miguel and Bennie working the demolition and removal of the existing flagstone patio, grading, planting, irrigation, lighting, and laying the new pavers. Once the BBQ and Fire Pit were 90% completed, they sent Juan the electrician/gas line specialist to hook up the gas and electrical and all the appliances. As we progressed through the project there were a couple of minor issues and changes that we decided to make - you know how us homeowners are sometimes. Jeremy, Keone, and the whole SRL Team worked closely with us to make the changes happen, and with minimal disruption. Overall, the project started on time and took about six weeks to complete, which was less than expected. They did a great job of scheduling materials and equipment to show up as they were needed, and they had plenty of very hard working, professional employees. These guys work hard, rarely take breaks, and make sure everything is done correctly and efficiently - and most importantly Safely. Do not work for this company. They will steal from your paycheck. They make everyone buy a set of 75$ shirts despite not being required to wear them. These shirts will fall apart the first time you put them in the wash. The NEW payroll system they use automatically deducts a lunch break from your time clock whether or not you choose to take one. The same time clock system also will not show your clock in and clock out times or prompt you to approve your time sheet. You will only have a count of the total hours you worked that day. Once a new day starts you won't be able to see yesterdays hours. You have to rely on your manager to manually remove the lunch break from your timesheet. If there is a mistake you have to hope your supervisor was diligent enough to remember fix it. The old system didn't have this problem we could see our hours for the entire week along with in and out times. So when you go to the labor board to get whatever hours they WILL owe you. Not only will Santa Rita not respond to the labor boards requests you will also have not enough to get the labor board to get your owed pay. read more

I would give 0 zeros starts if I could. First let me say that the front yard was included in price of new home. That says, this was a terrible experience with horrible results. Lori was not able to provide a drawing that showed what we spoke about and wanted. The final front yard product was NOTHING like the final drawing she provided. Shorted us 2 plantings, planted incorrect plants, planting locations incorrect, and many were NOT 5 gal plants, but little 5" - 6" single sticks sticking out of the ground (see pics). Not sure why Lori even bothers to meet with clients to see what they want, she does as she pleases. She also does not return calls or respond to emails. Obviously I chose to not have them do anything in the side and rear yard. I dont spend money on such poor service and even poorer results. read more

I live in a small HOA community. The builder uses SRL to plant front yard landscaping. They planted two palo verde trees that died almost immediately. Then I contacted SRL for an estimate for backyard landscaping. Someone came out, walked my property, told me by budget was off base, however would contact me by the end of the week with an estimate. I never received the estimate. I then emailed that same person the following week to find out what the estimate was. Still no answer. Three weeks later still no estimate. We called Santa Rita to get a quote to do landscaping for our front and back yard. We also had three other landscapers come out for quotes, plus we put a call in to one that did a neighbor's yard that we really liked. Santa Rita was impressive, while the others didn't even bother to call us back with their bids even after coming out to discuss. One sent an email just parroting what we talked about at the meeting and them expected us to sign a document. The one that did the neighbor's yard didn't call back despite us leaving 3 voicemails and our number with SOMEONE there who answered the phone one time. Can't say I'm very impressed with landscaping business's here. Santa Rita is a big company, but honestly, they got to us right away. Lori, the designer came up with a great design, even revising a few times for us. Once our HOA approved the design, they put us on the start list quickly. Went fast once they started. Smiley and his crew were friendly, respectful and the foreman went out of his way for us several times, even after I personally (and accidentally) punctured a drip line. We had one hiccup which is common with any construction job, but they fixed it right away. I would definitely recommend them. Professionals all the way. read more

I reached out for a quote on getting some yard work done based on last year's monsoon issues we dealt with, and Ryan graciously came out and helped me out! Not only did we get the drainage issues handled, we finally put in some landscape rock, took out an old tree and resolved all the inadequacies we had with our yard being so plain and ugly in the process!! There seem to be a lot of landscaping companies here in Tucson. I've noticed that Santa Rita is one of the large ones so I called them because I need some work done on a couple of my properties. The receptionist was very nice and transferred me to voicemail of someone who was supposed to call me back to set up an appointment. That first call was about two months ago. I called back Right before Christmas got the same response again. I left a message and still have not received a callback. I have several friends that manage a few large properties and I spoke to them. One of them is a customer of Santa Rita. They told me to choose anybody else, but this company because of the service or shall I say the lack of service I thought you know just one person might have a bad opinion and that would not be unusual so I checked with four other property managers that also use Sanarita. None of them would recommend this company for Anything. I guess I dodged a bullet by these amateurs not calling me back. Santa Rita get it together. Make sure you do your homework before hiring anyone I was almost sorry that I hired this company and thank God I didn't just saying. read more

Santa Rita Landscaping is the best in Tucson. The team provides quality work, reasonable prices and great customer service. We have a double lot just north of the university that we have tried to make work for us for 4 years. We have attempted multiple landscapers which have all been less than desirable. We had been hesitant to invest in the yard as it seamed risky for some reason. After having Santa Rita install a beautiful patio with pavers (400 sq ft) and suffering through a few monsoon seasons with crazy weeds, we decided it was time to reconnect with the team. Jeremy helped get us started dreaming up ideas of how to best use out backyard space. We went back and forth a few times to come up with a plan that both fit our budget and desires. He has been so helpful and kind. Tom took over the project once we finalized the plans. He is detail oriented and has high standards for excellence. Lalo was on site the entire time creating the project exactly as the plans were designed. We couldn't be happier with our new yard! We have much more wildlife now, absolutely love the view, and we can finally enjoy our beautiful back yard! We go out side most days to play, even in the summer, and look up at the stars at night. We recently had Santa Rita Landscaping do some work in our neighborhood involving the cutting down of a few trees, removal of a lot of prickly pear cacti, installation of several large boulders, and the planting of some new vegetation in and around the boulders. They did a great job. I appreciated that they were willing to work with us to tweak our initial plans in order to help us better meet our landscaping goals. Parked a low profile dumpster (can't see it in your rear view mirror) in the road behind my driveway and then refused to pay for the damage to our bumper. This is in a neighborhood where cars are not allowed to be parked in the street. Also used my front yard as their turnaround point and smashed the rocks down. Absolutely no respect for the neighbors of people they are doing work for. Update: Some things never change. They had several tons of rock dropped onto my property for the house being built across the street. This company has zero respect for the properties neighboring the homes they do work for. read more

UPDATE - 6/16/2018 After 18 months of unsuccessful attempts at resolving various issues, Santa Rita said they would no longer work with me. I put my story into updated 1-star reviews and a Better Business Bureau complaint. Within a week I received an email from Tanner, (Santa Rita Operations Manager) stating that he was open to meeting with me and discussing options. Tanner came to my home and proposed an option to address my biggest concern of shifting pavers; not replacement as I had wanted, but a compromise I was willing to try because it was better than no compromise at all. I am now changing my 1-star reviews to two stars. I appreciate Santa Rita's renewed willingness to work with me. The number of communications back and forth is numerous, and they have responded to my communications in a timely manner. The compromise did improve the problem slightly. However, the issues remain largely unresolved. I tried to give more than 2 stars because Tanner did extend an effort to find a compromise. However, 3 stars implies a neutral recommendation. I feel I was sold an expensive product with major inherent problems that were not communicated at the time of purchase and were never really resolved. I cannot in good faith recommend Santa Rita as a landscaper. read more

We had a very uneven front yard with lots of random plant growth and reached out to several landscapers in the area to fix the issue. Out of all 5 bids, Santa Rita's estimate was both fair and comprehensive. Ryan made us feel confident in what he was going to be doing to the yard as well as making sure we understood what the upkeep would be on the options we selected. The crew that arrived did an amazing job at not only leveling the yard and laying down great looking rock, but removed a patch of asphalt that the previous owner had placed in the drive. Jeremy did a summary of what was done, what to expect from the yard, and how they would proceed with cleanup over the next day or so. It's the first time I've ever used a landscaper (I usually try to do it myself) and I couldn't have asked for a better experience! read more

Santa Rita is responsible for doing the landscaping work for new homes in my area as well as replacing plants that die within the first year of home purchase. Due to a scheduling error on their part, they ripped up new plants in my front yard totalling over $100 and refuse to compensate for their mistake. There are large holes in my front yard and dirt strewn everywhere. Its a complete mess. I would never recommend this company to anyone. read more

We had a great experience from designing the front yard with their senior designer Rich, to working with the field crew that executed the design. We would definitely recommend Santa Rita to anyone who is looking for a quality landscaping company. I am only giving 4 stars because we had to have some of the plants they planted exchanged because they didn't have the irrigation set correctly and the plants started to die. Santa Rita was the developer's contractor for our front yard. For our back yard, we met with Santa Rita and two other landscapers and chose Santa Rita's proposal. Their landscape designer, Rich, was very creative and we like what he designed. The price was in line with our budget so we selected Santa Rita for our back yard. The landscaping crew was very professional, thorough and adhered to the planned schedule. In addition to landscaping plants, rock, and pavers, Santa Rita fabricated a wonderful outdoor kitchen, stucco to match the house, electrical, gas, etc. Installed a seriously upgraded grill with a seer burner and side burners, and we are very happy with their work and the results. At the same time we had a pergola fabricated and installed by another contractor and Santa Rita worked well with that contractor to coordinate and sequence the work so that both projects finished with quality and on time. We recommend Santa Rita and look forward to having them do more work for us. read more

They do new subdivision landscaping and irrigation. Had some issues with the irrigation and called them. The water valve was very loud and shook the house when it came on. Guy came here and told us it was normal and they could not do anything to quiet it down. Charged me $75 and drove away. Called a mom and pop irrigation company and they changed out the valve and fixed the problem. Works great and it's much easier on my plumbing. Would not have these guys change a washer in my hose. Very arrogant !! read more

My driveway was over 25 yrs old and the asphalt was coming apart. Not only was it unsightly but dirt was regularly tracked into the house. There was also an issue of drainage after rains which often backed up on my carport and drained into my neighbors yard. After consulting with several contractors considering both concrete and paver options, we chose Santa Rita Landscaping. The price for the pavers was only about $2000 more than concrete and provided a much more aesthetic look that matched our adobe block house. In addition, Ryan was the only one who offered a solution to the drainage problem which was to install a small drain in the tree swale and route the water via a 4 inch pipe to a lower point in my backyard which could water trees with the excess water. The workers did a great job in all stages of removal of the old asphalt, configuring the elevation so water would drain gently to a particular point, and carefully installing AB sand/gravel underlayment, then sand, then the pavers and finally a coat of fine sand between the pavers. I am very pleased with both the appearance of the finished product and its functionality. Many people have commented on how attractive and well done it is. the Crew was great to work with and kept me informed of progress and any issues along the way.
