The service is fine, whatever. It's really expensive considering the availability of at home DIY pest control solutions now. BEWARE OF THE CONTRACT AND THE WAY THEY OPERATE. The contract is initially for a year, and there's some sloppy language about auto renewals after 1 year. But in Illinois, written auto renewal notices are required to be provided to consumers prior to renewal. I didn't receive this, but I did email them 90 days before my renewal service to cancel because I had lost my job and couldn't afford it. They wanted to speak on the phone (canned text). Now it's June and the renewal service was still scheduled. I had NUMEROUS contacts over text and email reminding them of my notice of cancellation. They sent me SEVERAL emails and texts saying that we needed to speak on the phone. Nowhere in the contract does it say a phone call is mandatory to cancel. I kept telling them it had nothing to do with the service, and that I had lost my job. "We do need to speak to you." I finally, FINALLY got a notice of closure after 24 hours of unnecessary back and forth. I would not have written a review about my experience with EcoShield. I never had any issues, but I also didn't have a bug problem - I hired them for prevention. But now that they were so blatantly disrespectful, coercive, and ignorant of my situation and intent to cancel, CONGRATULATIONS: you earned a review. read more

As many have indicated on here, EcoShield "IS A SCAM." The service doesn't work, and by the time you realize it you're already locked into an agreement that isn't apparent when the door to door sales person comes around. We were having some pest issues and they were servicing a neighbors house so they caught me at the same time. I was ready to get some service but I told the guy I didn't want a contract just service. He agreed and said the paperwork is just a formality and that I could cancel any time with no fees. Well that was a lie. Any time meant "within a couple of days!" Well before you realize the service itself was crap. They agreed to switch my service from Quarterly to Monthly so I could finish sooner and get out of their service. I marked my calendar for that date. When it came, they said I still had to pay a cancelation fee. Avoid this company by all means!! read more

Soliciting scam. Stop by the house shortly after closing/moving to state they service the neighbors &/or were previously serving last homeowners- to inquire to keep it going. They try to make it an easy yes as possible, then sign some paperwork & you're locked in for a year. Takes about 10minutes to walk your property- who knows if it's effective. When I inquired about servicing the INSIDE of my home (since no one had)- they sent a salesman to canvas for sealing from mice/rodents. Tried to sell me on that, I declined. UPDATE - after they responded here saying they wanted to investigate in private rather than public, I reached out to them again. Again they gave me several runarounds, saying "oh we see that we approved a refund already" and I kept saying sure you may have approved it but you haven't sent it. It took approximately two weeks of emails for us to get this rectified and the refund processed. Buyer beware, they will try to steal your money and gaslight you when you call them out on it. I've been a long time customer, but the sales people kept coming to my door, trying to get me to sign up. Somehow, I finally put it together that they have been doing the work on my neighbors house and not my house even though they had the correct address, I'm not sure how long this has been going on I suspect a year or more. The real frustrating part is that they admitted to this and they kept saying they would research and call me back tomorrow and then they never would. Total blow off. She proceeded to politely turn him down to which he called her a "fucking cunt" I have called and multiple times to which your "customer care team" keeps giving me the run around when wanting to speak with someone at your local office in the 60016 zipcode. Beware, and stay well away from them. Very shady door to door practices. "Jake" came by my house and said he was servicing most of our neighbors the next day for $150 each; We'd just seen a rat so I agreed to let him do our yard. I explicitly had him confirm that it was a one-time deal, not a repeating service. As he was leaving he flashed me an iPad saying "sign this so I can come and service the property if you're not home" then 6 weeks later I find out he'd actually slipped me the signature section of a long-term service contract. Next, despite (I have doorcam recordings of this) him reading-back my correct contact details, he set my "account" up with a fake phone number and fake email - presumably to make sure I never got sent a copy of the "agreement" and an opportunity to have it voided. Note: Ecoshield is being sued in multiple states for deceptive door to door practices, and I'm not surprised. Pure slime. Update 1: ten days and multiple calls later, Ecoshield finally closed my "account". It's possible this was just one rogue sales guy - but there are many similar reviews out there so it's hard to say. Be careful. Also - the "treatment" is garbage. Spiders galore less than a week later. Save yourself the headache (and the money) - just go to Home Depot and do it yourself; The most sophisticated part of ES's operation is the sales-scam... the treatment is basic and low-effort. This company is an absolute scam -- do not do business with them. I signed a contract for roughly $830, which was presented to me as an exclusion treatment around the perimeter of my property to prevent mice from entering. At no point did my representative mention any quarterly charges. I was shocked to later discover recurring $165 quarterly fees that were never disclosed. After months of back-and-forth communication, I was finally able to cancel the contract -- yet they continue to try billing me $165. It's important to note that their service did not solve the issue I originally hired them for. I ultimately had to handle the problem myself, which completely resolved it. I've always left positive reviews for companies I work with, but this experience was the complete opposite. This company is deceptive, unprofessional, and extremely rude when confronted about their misleading practices. They go door to door selling you a service that does not work. After 1 year of service, we still have ants. We asked to cancel, which they confirmed via email. They also refunded it as they came after we cancelled. 3 months later, someone from ecoshield showed up dusted the snow off our house and billed us or service they did not provide. All captured on our cameras. Person literally went around the house with a broom and dusted the snow off around the gutters. We contacted them and again stated they made a mistake, but this time they denied the refund because they had no confirmation of the cancellation, even though we had email confirmation from Connor Joseph - customer service rep. This is a scam, DO NOT fall for their scheme. They will continue to send someone to walk around the house for 10min and charge you couple hundred dollars each time. They say they have a "satisfaction guarantee", however, when asked to return to take care of an infestation of several bugs, they said their products do not handle my particular bugs. I cancelled my service and was charged the $250 early termination fee. They will not let you speak to a manager or supervisor or even the local office. I do believe the business is located out of the country because many of the people I talked to I could not understand. I called to get a wasp nest removed from my tree. They came out and said that I would need more than one treatment to get permanent results. The first treatment, spraying insecticide and knocking down the nest, didn't solve the problem. I called them back and they said it was too late to move up the scheduled treatment, so they came as scheduled. This seemed to resolve the problem. Today -- December 12 -- I received a notice of an upcoming service. Needless to say that isn't needed, but when I called I was told I would need to pay a $250 cancellation fee. I strongly advise you to avoid this firm. An attorney is putting together a class action lawsuit as this seems to be their regular business practice. Search online if you're interested. read more

I was a customer of Echo Shields Pest Solutions for years, and I can honestly say the service has been consistently terrible. On multiple occasions, I caught their employees on my home security cameras doing almost nothing -- sometimes just walking around the house once or sprinkling a little product in one spot before leaving. This went on while I was paying thousands of dollars, thinking my home was actually being serviced. One of the worst incidents was when an employee urinated in my backyard while my young children were home and looking out the window. I reported it, was promised a different technician, but the same dishonest behavior eventually returned. The lack of professionalism, poor service, and dishonest practices are unacceptable. Poor service rendered and they have a survey that was done right after the service and despite the feedback, there was absolutely no response from the company. The worst thing was when I saw the invoice, it was different from what was promised by the sales person. On questioning the charge, they started back pedaling and asking for proof and investigating the issue. I decided to cancel the service and at this point, they slapped me with an additional cancelation charge, which was also very different from what the sales person mentioned. These guys are simply crooks. We've had other pest services in the past. They were also not very helpful in managing pests, mice in particular. That being said, at least the other providers allowed us to cancel our services with them. We just had someone show up today, about a year after cancelling our services. Apparently he walked the property and caulked a gap around a spigot. For this honor we were charged $200 and told we never cancelled our service. Also, we opened the email that said they were coming and we should have reached out prior to them stopping out. Forget about it being the holiday season and the fact life is busy. It's totally our fault. I asked the guy from the local office for his email so I could send him an email that I was going to walk around the outside of his property for $200 but he wouldn't provide it. If you're interested in a pest service where the primary solution to your pest issues are to add on a bunch of services that are not covered in your actual service contract and you'd like to never cancel, this would be the place for you. Just an update here - although the comment responses claim that they take feedback seriously, this person who requests emails ultimately just regurgitates the same argument as those in the call centers - that you "agreed to the terms and conditions" and there is nothing they can do about refunding past failed services or their cancellation fee (even when canceling with due cause). No need to waste your time on reaching out. EcoShield does not hold themselves to any service standard - their salespeople will make promises they cannot keep and the company will not do anything about it. We hired this business and the same day they sprayed our dog's face when they were inside the house. The dog was just standing there and the guy was putting covers on his shoes. He was holding the spraying gun under the armpit and on accident he sprayed my dog. Of course I knew it was an accident but I was worried about my dog's eyes! I took my dog under the shower to clean it off. The main guy ( not the spraying guy) came for the payment next day and my husband told him about this accident (my husband told him to send the invoice). Next day after vet visit to look for any infections in my dog's eyes, my husband was so upset and he said he wants to quit the service. The guy said The Accident never happened because we don't have the proof. And he will charge us service cancelation fee $250! Do not do business with this company! This company lies, has ineffective products and will pursue you over balances you don't owe. Let's go one-by-one. 1. The lying started when they showed up at my door: "We have customers in the area and the truck was down the street." Neither is true. I work from home and would have seen a single truck near me in the four months since they fed me this line. The truck was also not down the street. I couldn't see it anywere. They get prospect lists from people setting up new utilities and then show up when you're in the middle of unpacking. 2. They didn't get rid of small ants that Orkin did. EcoShield treated my home and yard for ants but they kept coming. I called Orkin the next week and the ants were gone in a day. 3. They've been pursuing me for a "discount" balance for weeks even though I have provided documentation from their own contracts proving that I don't owe anything. I reached out to ecoshield customer service several times. I also contacted my credit card to reverse my charges. But Ecoshield denied my request and said I am responsible since I signed the agreement (on a tiny electronic device). I didn't receive the agreement till 6 months later. I have left atleast 10 messages for Ecoshield sales guy - Geordie Bigman who sold me this service at 169/year only. He has not returned any of my messages. The company has shown no attempt to contact or connect me to Geordie Bigman. My husband is the witness, about this rate. I was emailed a contract after 6 months and it says there will be quarterly charges. But I was charged for the whole year in less than 6 months. I would just like a refund of the 3 extra payments and put this behind me. Ecoshield also denied the credit card refund claim. This has been an eye opening bad experience for me. Why would you send someone to pound on my door on a Saturday? I asked if he has a village permit for door to door solicitation. He lied and claimed he did. After asking him to produce it three times, he gave me his company ID. When I pointed out that what he provided me wasn't a village permit, he acknowledged he had lied. I kept his ID and told him to wait while I called the police. I have some nice security camera footage of him running like a child to his car and then peeling off. Nothing suspicious about that. I spoke with them about a rodent issue I had (gross) and they came out, plugged the hole (for a reasonable fee) and I haven't had any rodent issues since. Hey Roscoe neighbors! A salesman came to my door in May from EcoShield Pest Solutions Chicago North. He said he was providing pest control to some of my neighbors and named some people off. We signed up since we were preparing for mosquito season. Come to find out that the $200 was per month not total. Which we didn't love but were like fine we'll cancel after summer. Meanwhile we're having more mosquitos than ever. We can't even spend time in the yard. I call them to tell them that we are very unhappy with their service and we want to cancel. They make me jump through hoops to cancel and are charging me $200 to cancel. Meanwhile she's saying that we didn't even have the mosquito add-on service on our membership..... that was literally the whole point and we discussed that with the salesman.
