This company sent a representative into our neighborhood ignoring all the "No Solicitation" signs posted throughout like they were optional reading material. He came to the door name dropping other residents he claimed he helped with outdoor pest control, but it was all lies. At least I gave him a bottle of water for staying committed to a low class company in the heat because walking door to door selling fairy tales has to be exhausting. Today this company disregarded our no soliciting sign. I asked the man who knocked if he was soliciting, he said they were doing work for our neighbor and I stepped out to see if they needed us to move something, or talk about the work, then he started talking about our home and pests. He was soliciting, and ignored our sign, my question about solicitation, and leveraged our neighbor to start the conversation. I think companies today are under the impression that they can solicit despite no soliciting signs and requests, but they trespassed today, interrupted meetings for both my husband and I as we work from home, and we will remember that if we look for any pest help, we keep a list of which companies disregard our no soliciting sign, especially those who continue to try to sell to us after we bring up the sign to their employees." read more

Pest control companies are the scourge of the environment, but even if I did want to use one, I would NEVER go with EcoShield. We had someone come to our door and was on our property NOT listening to me saying we aren't interested for almost 10 minutes. I have the whole interaction on Ring. I was very patient and kept just saying that we aren't interested, no thank you, etc. because I knew this guy was just trying to get business for his employer. Finally my husband got fed up and opened the door and asked him to leave. Please see videos attached of how kind I was, and then his words after my husband asked me to leave. Once we realized we were home, he said "shoulda BEEN come out." And then mumbled something about "white women" and finally called me a "b*tch." I WISH my husband had heard that part while he was still on our property lol. As soon as we watched the rest of the Ring recording, we called EcoShield. The rep I spoke to said that it was a different company, not EcoShield. I asked how there could be another company with the same name and logo, and he didn't know how to respond. He told me I have to email them. I emailed them, and then they said I had to call. They DO NOT CARE about this behavior because this is what they encourage. This salesperson was in our neighborhood for hours (until at least 7 pm), harassing so many households that the police got involved. This information was also shared with EcoShield in my email, as well as this man's name since the police obtained it for our neighbor (she was worried that he was casing the neighborhood since he was so aggressive). This company encourages their salespeople to be aggressive and bully people into giving them business. It is NOT okay. (Also, please use natural remedies if pests are becoming a burden! Those chemicals kill bees, which hurt local farmers, neighbors' gardens, and the natural food chain) UPDATE: I was only able to post the video of him being a racist misogynist, not the video showing how I was NOT being a b*tch unfortunately. I call back and am told the appointment was cancelled because I would not be home that day even though I told the appointment setter the code to get in. Service was good. Always on schedule. Ant sightings greatly reduce this summer. Outdoor treatment only. But watch the contract. Get it in writing. BEWARE: EcoShield Pest Solution has been canvassing the Charlottesville area door to door selling, among other things, spraying for ants. It's a scam. Their "treatment" does not work. When you figure out you're been scammed and try to cancel, there's a $250 cancellation fee. There is currently a class action lawsuit against EcoShield Pest Solutions, The Shield Companies, Shield Co Management LLC, and others. Why: The lawsuit alleges that EcoShield charges customers an unauthorized cancellation fee when they try to end their subscription service, despite not being mentioned in the service agreement. Specifically: The plaintiff claims EcoShield disguises the fee as an "Annual Commitment Discount" on the initial service visit, which customers then have to repay if they cancel, even if they've been subscribed for at least a year. Great technician, great company. Deshawn Lloyd with ECOSHIELD Richmond is professional, knowledgeable, thorough, and friendly. He asked if I had any pest concerns and we discussed European wasps. Deshawn explained the wasps' habitat and the season they show up. Saw two of these wasps this past summer and that is enough for me (3 times size of regular wasps.) Deshawn did a thorough spraying all around my house and checked for spider webs, wasp nests, and whatever may be hanging off my house. I arrived at home to a Salesman from your company at my porch steps. He had knocked on my door already, my wife peered through the window and ignored his request to engage. He waited anyway and stood still as I pulled up. When I got out of my truck I announced I was not interested in his services. He tried to introduce himself and got closer to me, and I again told him sternly to leave my property. He again stayed and tried to talk about his services, and I yelled for him to leave as I pointed to the street. He finally agreed, said, ok, and walked away. I firmly believe companies have the right to "follow the path of the mailman," to solicit services. However, when you have to ask like I did for you to leave, you are being very unprofessional. It is a neverending sales pitch to keep you enrolled with automatic credit card withdrawls of over $200. After asking them NOT to spray on a day when rain was forecast, they did it anyway. It is not the technicians fault, the first time I met the tech in the field he was professional and explained everything to me. The problem is with the management and online customer service. They don't listen, they refuse to take no for an answer and threaten they will penalize you with an extra payment if you cancel since they gave you such a great deal when you signed up. When I signed my contract, I was sold on the fact that they knew the pest control business well and communication would be great. This was a two year contract. First year was great! The professionals visiting my house deserve a lot of credit for good service and great customer service! Last May (about 10 months in), I started having issues with rescheduling my appointments. Nobody would answer my calls, and Ecoshield contracted their customer service desk to a third party company. This company struggled to even make a simple change to reschedule my appointment leading to 2 visits to my house when I wasn't home. I raised these concerns to the local office and never heard much back. Fast forward to today. I used to get a week's notice before a visit, now I get 24 hour notices (they have a 24 hour cancellation policy that all changes have to be made 24 hours before your appointment). I get my notifications at 4:50, 10 minutes before their call center closes the lines... I'll ring for 10 minutes or so and nobody will answer. I've left about 5 voicemails in the past year, only one was returned. I raised these concerns and my intent to cancel with my local office and I was met with a "sorry to see you go, make sure to pay your $150 cancellation fee on the way out". I get that a contract was signed but this company will not strive to fix any of your problems. Even if you try to work with them, they will just collect their fee. Sad because I could've cancelled 12 months ago at the first sign of issues, but stayed on and paid about $750 more than I would've had to. I'd look elsewhere if you want to have communication with any sort of business representative. The closest you will get is an agent with a script. read more

Signed contract yesterday, cancelled today. Why you ask? Because what the sales rep stated was not what was written in the contract. Rep implied the entire yard would be treated for insects. Not so, they only treat to about 10 feet. That tidbit came from customer service over the phone; the contract does not address at all. Sales rep stated that the mulch beds would be treated as we walked around the mulch beds (not all of which are adjacent to the house), not so, again, only treat about 10 feet from the house. Sales rep stated that all the critters listed would be included, i.e., the ones listed as "Add On Services". Hard to say yes or no, contract only addresses the guaranteed ones. I would assume the "Add On Services" are an additional charge. Sales rep stated that a termite inspector would be out in a few days and that I would get a free termite inspection annually. The contract mentions nothing about termite specific inspections. The customer service rep on the phone said checking for termites is included during their regular checks. By the way, contract does not address regular annual inspections. I guess maybe a tech is supposed to do that that when they are doing a scheduled treatment. Unless you are certified by the Virginia Pest Management Association, I'm not so sure I would trust just any techy telling me all is good regarding termites. I'm not an attorney, but in my opinion, the EcoShield contract is a bit on the loose side leaving too much up to interpretation. My advice, engage at your own risk. read more

This is easily the worst pest control company I have ever worked with. In fact, this is the worst company I have ever done business with. In the two years I have been in a contract with them they have stood me up at least 4 times on appointments, twice on calls and they keep scheduling me for times that I tell them I cannot have them come over and they still keep doing the same thing over and over like nothing ever happened. A solicitor of this company walked onto our property when we have a posted no soliciting sign. Persuaded my husband into signing on and we decided to cancel on the next day. We have been fighting this company for MONTHS. They do NOT follow their own contracts! Not to mention, their customer service is terrible. They cannot explain anything besides what you already know. When you ask for management, they get snotty and argue before sending you to a supervisor. Their prices are also outrageous! $170 every other month!! And that is apparently discounted down from over $300 every other month! This is a scam of a company if you ask me, and we highly recommend avoiding them. I've been unsuccessfully attempting to cancel my service contract with this company after they left a mess of residue all over the exterior of my house a couple of days ago. However, it's impossible to actually reach anyone in person at the Richmond location. The call center that I was connected to yesterday was unable to reach the Richmond office, and when I followed up today, the call center told me they were unable to connect me to the "solutions center." Pretty sure this place is a huge scam. I've been left with a mess, and I cannot even reach anyone to get a refund or cancel my service. Worst customer service imaginable. read more

After getting service the next day from two guys who didn't really know what they were doing, we cancelled...and for the next three months proceeded to get hounded by EcoShield about an outstanding charge because they insisted they never received our cancellation email. I sent them proof of the email (as requested) three separate times, was told it would be reviewed, and then it'd be crickets until the billing department called me again. They finally "waived" the charge because I asked for a way to actually follow up on the proof I was sending and they couldn't do that. Thank goodness we cancelled the card we had on file because they would have automatically charged us, and I can't imagine what a refund process would look like. You will never speak with the nice sales person again after signing the contract and the customer support and billing teams are clearly disconnected and NOT local to Richmond. But each of them WILL pressure you to post a 5 star review, hence their good Google rating. Even if you do everything right in regards to your contract, you'll have a terrible time. This is a scam. Ricky, the salesman who came to my door, lied. He told me I would be charged a quarterly fee and all sorts of initial fees were waved because of the neighborhood deal and that my next payment would be in December. I was charged 2 months in a row. He said something about an annual contract, and I told him I wouldn't be there for a year; he said it was fine; I didn't really have to keep the service for a year... to just let them know when I was moving. They come back next day. I had argument with them for them to even prove if they had been there. Fast forward to Saturday after they had been there (2 days later) dog digging in yard. Worked for ecoshield for years, in all my time I have never , ever , seen a company who cares less about they're customers or employees. It's almost not the managers or regular employees fault , but the owners are so money grubbing and they literally will make people so crappy services under crappy conditions (that aren't actually helping) just to siphon money from customers. every employee with them is utterly deflated and under appreciated and under paid as they force people to work dozens of unpaid hours a month and underpay for the work they do pay out, which causes all the techs to give crappy services cause they simply dont care anymore. And the owners of the company actually force the ENTIRE COMPANY to watch a FREAKING PODCAST where they dress up in super expensive suits and where funny hats and tell people about how much money they made them but there's no raises they just want you to know how much money they're making "record breaking profits again this month good job team! A salesman from Ecoshield came to our door and seemed very friendly and polite. We signed up for pest treatment on the spot. In signing up, the salesman had me sign on a small electronic device. He told me verbally what I was signing up for. It was supposed to be for treatment at $158 every 2 months. I asked if we could cancel at anytime- and he said yes. Later, we tried to cancel and they ended up charging us a cancellation fee AND they charged us back the 'discount'. Therefore, we were charged $288 to cancel a bimonthly pest service. Apparently, the verbal information he gave me when I signed the device was not the same information on the contract. Not only regarding the cancellation fee but the contract also stated that I was giving up my right to cancel the service without penalty due to the extreme circumstances and immediate need. We had no extreme circumstance or immediate need and I never would have given my signature if I was told that's what the contract said. As a business owner myself, I feel that this practice is very deceptive (bordering fraudulent). I do not recommend doing business with this company at all. read more
