I ordered an OBDeleven PRO Scan Tool from this company. Shipping was pretty quick - within a week of ordering. So, kudos on that aspect. I needed this scan tool to fix a coding problem with my client's VW CC bus gateway and nav system. We purchased the unit from ECS Tuning because of this wording on their website. Note the third sentence "Includes activation code for PRO Version!" (yes, that's their exclamation point!) "OBDeleven PRO Scan Tool The ultimate VAG diagnostic tool for your Android device Includes activation code for PRO Version! Brand: OBDeleven - Corporate Logo ES#: 3469307 Mfg#: 024871OBD01 New Item" When it arrived, we plugged it in - downloaded the android app - and the scanner worked perfectly for diagnostics...but our ability to re-code the VW hinged upon having the INCLUDED "activation code for PRO Version!" There was no activation code included in the box, or any instructions on how to acquire it. So, we got on-line and did a live-chat with ECS Tuning representative "Daniel". I copied the entire conversation but I won't bore you with it...suffice to say that it wasn't a great example of customer service. First - we were directed to download the Pro App at an unrelated Scan company's website (FoxwellTech). Obviously, the OBDEleven product or download did not exist on that site. When pressed, ECS Tuning's Daniel admitted he had never seen this product before and asked someone else, again, in ECSTuning's parts/product department. So, in the end, ECS Tuning's "solution" to their problem - was to have us return the product because they forgot to include the activation code and then order another one. After some disbelief on our part that ECS Tuning was not going to help up activate this scan tool, so we could fix our client's vehicle that day OR even offer to get us another unit as soon as possible - OR even admit it was THEIR fault! - we realized this is not a company we will do business with in the future. So, during this process - and based on the fact we didn't get the PRO activation with this order - we asked what assurances they would give us that our next order would actually INCLUDE the PRO activation code - and that they wouldn't forget to include it again - and this ECS Tuning representative, Daniel, said he couldn't be sure if we'd get an activation code with our next order. Incredibly wrong answer...right?!? Wow. We have had to apologize to our client (who wasn't happy) and have ordered the OBDEleven scan tool from another more customer-oriented company - same price - included PRO activation code - and I immediately received their assurances that we'd receive exactly what we ordered, including the PRO activation. ECS Tuning could learn some valuable lessons from Deutsch Parts! read more

Throughout the years I've ordered online for my mk7 vw and e36/E46's. Products are quality and fit oem. Haven't had a problem with them. Shipping is quick. Prices can be lower for certain oem parts elsewhere but this place is consistent in its shipping and quality. I don't mind ordering from ecs. read more

I ordered a upper part grill for my 2008 Mini Cooper... $64 something is a good price compared to the other ones out there.... so I place my order and then they tell me that they still haven't shipped it and it's been a delay for some reason 3 days after I order... when it finally gets here it's the wrong part when they even have this thing online to check if it's the right part, Ecs said it was the right part but wrong... so I go to return it and it's $30 to send it back from California to OH so great I get $30 back out of this terrible experience.... never again read more

I purchased an item and I received the wrong product. Made contact with the company and I was advised that the product was listed incorrectly. I mailed it back for a refund. When I received the refund it wasn't for the full purchase price! I notified the company and they then corrected the problem only after I asked. Waited over a month and a half for my parts. Never saw any emails, never got any calls, and so forth. Sent an email a week or two ago still never heard anything back. Felt like my $800 doesn't matter whatsoever to these people. Call today and waited on hold for a half an hour, had to hang up and try a different extension, finally got ahold of somebody and sales name Matt. At first I was upset but not directly at him just explaining my frustrations and he had the nerve tell me that I need to quit my temper tantrum so he can explain. Of course if the whole order was over at that point and I told him that and he just continue the one that argue about what time I'm calling and everyone else has left for the day and argue with me about how I feel. Totally unprofessional has no clue about customer service obviously probably hates his job and hates his life but that's besides the fact. I never swore at him or never threatened him so obviously he's very sensitive and and unhappy person. But for me it's done. I canceled my entire order I will find somewhere else and not be talked to her treated like that. I will never buy from ECS Tuning again and I will tell every one of my car but he's not too as well. Thomas-Your attempt at customer service needs to be at time of service not 4 days shy of 9 months down the road. You guys sent me the wrong muffler and then when I called to get the right one I was made to feel like I don't know what I am talking about. Really? I've been wrenching on VW's for 20 years and used to be a German car mechanic. You should take Yelpers serious. Look at the your star ratings. Your website and products offered are great BUT the order execution is really poor. Point the finger at yourself and OWN problems as IN HOUSE problems, don't point the finger at your vendors or they wont like you either. I would love to order more stuff from you guys but your execution and service needs help. I understand that gear heads that might work at a place like ECS might not be the best at polite service BUT get a hold of your employees and train them how they should deal with customers. Your website and diverse part offerings position you very well for success, but the execution needs to be there. If you care about the reputation of ECS then clean house and do better. If you don't then show your co-workers this email, laugh, and dismiss it as the rant of an idiot. Horrible customer service, very rude. Parts Never ever ship on time so if you don't mind these facts order from them.

Place a return for store credit for an unused part. Return the part in original packaging and payed for return out of pocket. Called 3 seperate times to ask for store credit. Within an 60 window each time. Called after the New Years to check on store credit and never recieved it. Reps claimed they are unable to track package because of FEDEX tracking service displays please call 1-800-463-3339. Called FEDEX and contirm delivery to ECS facilities and recieved. Ask to fax ECS tracking information and I have yet to recieve a phone call from ECS about return shipment. I will check everyday now and send them a fax of the FEDEX shipment until I get a direct answer of why I did not recieve my store credit after following all of their instructions. Following day: I recieve a response from Thomas L of ECS and was credited the full amount. I thank you for your quick response after I totally blew a gasket on the phone call. My disappointment is that I was told a credit was to be seen end of business after the call. I understand how retail works and was patient. Then I called again to inquire and was told the same thing after confirming shipment with your rep through the FEDEX website. Then the last time I called for resolution, it felt as if I was expected to almost bend over and take it as a loss because you were unable to pull the shipment from the FEDEX website. But for you to request a customer to phone FEDEX to confirm what I have already known for the past 8 months to provide you with proof of the shimpent was very insulting. Someone in your team should haved call FEDEX with the provided tracking number and taken the 5 mins to speak to a FEDEX rep to confirm shipping and signature. They have really good prices on their website. Too bad they don't actually sell what they advertise. I was ordering a rather large item (a bumper cover) so I called to double check the shipping cost. It was higher than the website quote, but that was to be expected. I placed my order with Peter Musselman who gave me an expected delivery date. I called on that date to find out my order had been cancelled. At first he asked if I had cancelled it, when I said I hadn't he said they couldn't source the parts, he didn't know why the parts were listed on the website when they couldn't get them, and that "someone" had cancelled my order and also neglected to inform me. Now I'm stuck paying more for the parts I need because the ECS wasted my time! Do not do business with this company unless they're literally handing you the part you're buying when you pay them. read more

Ive ordered from ECS a few times now and decided that since I saw some less than favorable reviews that I should post my experience...which has always been positive. First, they often run sales...I picked up smoked sidemarkers for $2.00. Shipping for me has always been incredibly quick and the item was always packed well. The one time when I did order the incorrect item, the service department fixed it for me quickly. The website is also built well, and it allows you to register and save your car for future searching. They also work with you if you're ordering a part that your tuner will install, so you can ship the part right to the shop. read more

This is probably worst company ever they have refund policies that they do not adhere to. If they make a billing mistake you will not get your money back only a store credit after waiting 18 months for the part to be received I did not need it. The refund policy states you have 90 days but since they charged my credit card 18 months ago they will not make a refund that is their policy but this policy is not in writing. read more

They have a professional-looking website, low prices and lots of stuff (claimed to be) in stock, but don't be fooled. ECS Tuning is amateur hour and you will regret ordering anything from them. They consistently misrepresent shipping times, they make stupid mistakes, and they definitely don't act like they value their customers. Here's my story. I planned to do a bunch of work on my E46 330xi over the weekend, so on Monday I placed an order with these clowns consisting of parts all of which were labeled as either "in-stock" or "ships in 1-3 days". I placed that order before 4pm Monday (which they said was their cutoff time for order processing) and with overnight shipping, thinking that at worst, the parts would go out a full three days later (that is, on Thursday) and I'd have them Friday (in time for the weekend project). Monday night I check the order status and it says the expected ship date is Friday for some reason. (That's 4 days, not "1-3".) That's no good, so I call sales, and we are able to massage the order (delete some non-essential items, source others elsewhere, change brands, etc) into something that the rep swears up and down will ship out on Weds and arrive Thursday. It's a pain, and I have to pay overnight shipping at another vendor who does have the deleted items in stock. For some reason, my ECS order doesn't ship til Thursday anyway. Whoops? No real harm done but annoyance, since the work is for the weekend. The order finally arrives on Friday. I unpack it and it's missing a crucial part (strut mount). Seriously? They sent me their own ECS brand "suspension refresh kit" but only sent me one strut mount! I call them about this and they acknowledge the error, but say they can't ship the part out to me until Monday because it has to come from a warehouse or somesuch. Also, some of the parts are from cheaper manufacturers than promised (item description stated component OEMs as Lemfoerfer, Meyle, and Sachs; items were actually from Lemfoerder and FEQ). But I absolutely need to complete the car over the weekend, so I deal with the inferior components I have and spend half the day Friday calling local places and manage to source the one I'm missing. I find a local place selling it at a cost of $55. I contact ECS on Friday to tell them not to bother shipping the missing item on Monday and that I sourced it locally. I ask for a refund of $55 plus whatever they deem my time and trouble to be worth. Apparently my time and trouble is worth minus $15, because they offered to refund me $40 for this sideshow. Thanks a lot, Tom and Chris! To sum it up: they'll lie to you about when they'll ship your order (twice, in my case). When your order comes late, it might be incomplete, incorrect, or both. And when you ask them to make it right, expect to me met with a complete lack of respect. read more

ECS was having a spring sale so my fiance got me the 4 program tune plus a locking option for $674.03. We weren't charged taxes because it was an online order from NY. We made the appointment and drove 7 hours from Queens,NY to come and have them tune the car for us since in the ad it specified for the 2014 models the car needed to be on the premises. Its also advertised that you can turn off the tune for dealer visits when you have the stock tune loaded so you can switch in between them but when we arrived they told us the dealer will still see it. Very deceiving wording in their description. After waiting for about an hour the tuner came to speak with us and tell us that they can only load 1 program because basically the model car I have is too new. They loaded the single program for us and sold it to us for even cheaper than the spring sale price because of how far we came for it. They also provided us with 2 t-shirts and license plate holders. We ended up getting charged tax for the 1 program because we were in the state. Overall I'm happy with the outcome. I wanted the tune regardless because I went from a worked mk4 1.8 to a stock mk6 and it just didn't have the pickup I needed. I'm just upset that we were under the impression we can turn it off and no longer have the option to have the valet mode and security pass code lock. They made good with us on trying to rectify the inconvenience which is much appreciated. Ill give them 5 Stars for customer service. Just make sure to validate what you want prior to purchasing. DO NOT ORDER OIL FROM THEM. I ordered an oil change kit because of the VW507.00 spec and the nearest place to get it was 100 miles away from me. They sent me the wrong oil and didn't care about the inconvenience they caused me. I understand mistakes happen it is how you handle them when they do happen. They didn't care at all no next day air for the right oil or anything other than a shipping label to send it back the wrong oil. Not to mention the very slow shipping time. I was surprised about some of the negative reviews -I've had bad experiences elsewhere but never with ECS. In fact, one of their guys tried to help me track down an (unrelated) electrical issue I was having while doing an install of one of their products, and he went above & beyond helping me out. It is easy to give a 5-star review when everything arrives and is just what you ordered. But what about when something goes wrong? I received a shipment with the pump seal and sending connector, but the fuel pump was missing. I understand, mistakes happen; How it is handled is paramount. I called to report it. Customer service was pleasant and quickly reviewed the order. With no arguments, sent the missing pump with expedited shipping. One of the easiest and quickest I've experienced. read more

I like ecstuning for their parts selection and pricing, the free shipping is nice too. Their customer service however has some holes from my experience dealing with them. A few issues come to mind first in dealing with a warranty RMA for a defective bilstein strut I purchased, I called ecstuning which I believe it says they handle on their site anyway I call ecstuning and they referred me to Bilstein. After speaking with Bilstein they said that ecstuning should be handling the RMA, I called ecstuning back and they still told me that Bilstein had to handle the RMA. In the end ecstuning ended up handling my exchange but I shouldn't have gotten the run around. My 2nd poor experience was when I purchased some motor oil along with several other parts and the oil had leaked all over the shipment I called ecstuning and they apologized as they said normally the oil is in a plastic bag, they offered to send me a replacement but it never came. My other suggestion that would make ecstuning above and beyond would be if they had a better recommendation of parts you should purchase when buying certain items for instance I just replaced my water pump and oil cooler and being a diyer I overlooked that I should have ordered all the necessary seals and gaskets for coolant pipes and what not I ended up making several trips to the stealership and the project took alot longer also I replaced my oil pan and may have been more swayed to buy a new oil level sensor if they pushed one on me as its been about 2 months since I completed the job and mine just failed. I'll keep buying from ecstuning but hope my review helps ecs and future customers. read more

ECS obviously has some mixed reviews. I came across their website when I was searching for parts for my MINI Cooper. Most of the parts they sell for my car are genuine MINI parts and the prices are relatively cheaper than what I've seen listed on other auto parts site. I will be placing multiple line item orders with them probably this weekend so this is not a real review but I will be updating this review with my real thoughts based on my experience. Now will I have a bad experience with shipping and/or customer service or will I have a great or mediocre experience? Only time will tell. A lot of the bad reviews were from a couple of years ago so hopefully they have made improvements in order to avoid such reviews. Well I'm taking my chance and for now I'm giving it 5 stars. I'm just being optimistic but I'm hoping this rating will stay this way (at least their website and pricing gets a 5 star). I will keep you guys posted. Update: 10/11/2014 I just placed an order this morning almost $1K worth of parts and accessories for my MINI Cooper. Most of the items that aren't in stock won't be shipped until Oct 16th but a couple of things that are in stock should ship the next business day which is Tue. Oct 14 (assuming they aren't open on Columbus Day). Everything I ordered were OEM and decently priced, also are eligible for free shipping so I didn't pay a dime for shipping which is a plus. I had two separate orders, items that were in stock were all consolidated into one shipment and shipped promptly (a day early and received on 10/18/14). The other shipment was shipped in a timely manner (received on 10/22/14). I also have recently placed a third order on 10/20/14 and it shipped today (10/23/14). Tom had been pretty good with e-mail responses, very prompt and professional. I have spent over $1200 for parts and accessories for my MINI Cooper and I never paid a penny for shipping (total weight of 60 lbs). I was originally charged shipping on my second order which I didn't mind but since it was consolidated with the first order I was credited with the shipping cost on my website account. Overall, I'm a satisfied customer and I look forward to doing business with ECS Tuning in the future. Give them a try and see for yourself. My initial 5-star rating stands. ECS Tuning is a pleasure to do business with and is usually my first stop for parts. Great customer service and a huge selection of quality parts. I would have gave them 5 stars but shipping is holding them back. If the item is from their store or in their warehouse then shipping is fast, however I have ordered some parts from them that were being shipped from another warehouse and have had to wait past scheduled ship date promised some as long as 8 weeks. I had placed an order and paid for two day shipping. Four day's later the package still hadn't been processed for delivery. So I cancelled that order and went through another retailer that not only delivered my package early, but found the same product for $100.00 cheaper. Couple weeks later I place another order. It said it would deliver in a week. Few day's in I checked it's status only to find out it was delayed another week, so I canceled that order as well except this time they said it would take 24 to 48 hours to get my money back to me. That was five days ago and still haven't seen my money... Moral of the story is ECS Tuning will take your money and quickly buy and build their project cars and leave you out to dry every time. I've been calling and sending e-mails. Their customer service sucks and they do it on purpose.
