This was one of the worst customer experiences I've ever had. I ordered a standard birthday cake for my wife's birthday and went to pick it up at 4:50 PM. When I arrived, I was told the register was already closed and they could not accept credit cards. Fortunately, I had a $100 bill with me, but they refused to accept that as well. I had to walk around the plaza trying to find someone to break the bill. After finally getting change, I returned at 5:01 PM -- only to find the door locked. What made the situation even worse was seeing the employee sitting in her car watching me, then driving away as she waited to give me a bad look. It felt incredibly disrespectful, rude, and completely unprofessional. I've honestly seen better customer service at a gas station. The lack of basic courtesy and common sense from the staff was unbelievable. Locking the doors while a customer is actively trying to break the bill is just unacceptable behavior. It's clear this employee does not care about customers or the reputation of the business. Management should seriously reconsider who they trust to represent their company because this kind of attitude drives loyal customers away. I've been a loyal customer for years, buying birthday cakes for both my family and our office celebrations, but after this experience, I will not be returning. Stay away from this bakery. This bakery was top-of-the-line back in the early 90s but their day came and went. This is the second cake I've bought from this bakery in two years and they still can't seem to get it right. I spent almost $400 on a cake that Publix probably would have made it 100 times better for half the cost. The lack of attention to detail on this cake is mind blowing. For example, upon inspection I saw that my cake was spray painted instead of them actually coloring the buttercream frosting like they're supposed to. Aside from that, they didn't carry out the exact design they promised when I ordered it. The customer service is even worse than the cake. They don't care if you're not satisfied, they're not willing to correct any mistakes or try to come to some resolution both parties would be happy with. I have been ordering pecan pies that are sold only during Thanksgiving for years. My family looks forward to them every year. Absolutely amazing if you like pecan pies. I always order from the South Miami store but this year I ordered from the Doral location because it was closer to me. Mistake! I ordered several of them and picked them up today. We were all excited to try a piece. To our disappointment, they did not taste fresh. The taste was just not the same and tasted old. I really don't know if it's because they are now made differently at all stores or if it's because of this location. Based on some of the reviews I read, I tend to think it's only this location with the issue. Big disappointment! The store is also not comparable to the South Miami location. I suppose I should've done my research first. I will still order them next year but definitely at the South Miami location. Hopefully, they are not a disappointment like this year. These people know cakes. Recently placed a Cake order to have ready the next day. They offered me different cake styles and flavors and designs. They were extremely friendly and very helpful. Great price for the quality of cakes they make here. I was unsure about what I wanted the cake to say and also about the design on it. They told me it would be no problem and that when I went to pick it up I could tell them there and it would only take them about 5 minutes to have it ready. I did just that and was in and out in no time. The cake was a rum cake with dulce de leche filling. It was delicious. Be warned the parking in the location can be a bit tight since there are many different businesses in the shopping center. All in all this placed is excellent. Cake Designs by Edda is a hit or miss. I had a red velvet cupcake from here and it was mediocre. Very dry and it tasted old. But by the same token, I;ve had cake balls from here that have been AMAZING. Probably the best cake balls i've ever had. very moist and so delicious. The service is also a Hit or Miss. The first time I went the young lady at the register was very patient and very helpful, the second time, there was another young lady at the register and she seemed to be in a hurry and did not want to answer questions about the cake balls. read more
