Hamburgers, fries and chicken wings a plenty this Dame Street branch of the massive Eddie Rockets chain maintains all the joviality and novelty we have come to find irresistible about this appealing fast-food institution. This is one of the biggest Eddie outlets in town and so is capable of catering for the more sizable crowds. 'The' prototypical American Diner, the moment you walk in you are instantaneously transported back to the thrilling days of Grease Lightning, retro juke boxes, Elvis quiffs and 1950s baseball - all of the archetypal characteristics of which Eddie Rockets manipulates to create its novelty décor. I first started going there with my friends for munchie food after we finished a session in town - Eddie's can be open as late as 4am some nights and so perfect for the crowd returning from a night out who are looking to devour as much fast food as possible to soak up their evening's alcohol consumption. On these occasions I have often gone for 'The Atomic', topped with chili sauce and jalapenos - so hot it will, as the title suggests, blow you away! For €7.45 it is not a cheap outing, especially when you have to buy any chips or salad separately as well as a drink, and if you eat there after midnight a 10% 'late night' charge is added. At €5.15 the Bacon and Cheese Fries satisfy the taste buds like nothing else after a heavy night, but makes a sizeable dent in your wallet in the process. Nevertheless, the more I went there under these late night circumstances the more fond of Eddie's I became, so much so that friends and I used to drop in for an Oreo Cookie Malt if we had come from shopping in Temple Bar or were making our way towards the city centre. This malt really is as devilish and abounding as it sounds - a rich treat in the afternoon, big enough to be shared between two, this really is the perfect indulgence when you want to take a break. Note: For 20c a go you can select a song to be played over the main speakers via the mini jukebox on each table - Beach Boys 'Good Vibrations' was often the one I went for.

I would have always said it is hard to go wrong with Eddies... the fries are always good, the burgers brilliant. My personal fav is the buffalo wings with the (original) Cajun sauce, I went with it this time too. Junior had the nuggets and chips. Food arrived in about 12 seconds, very very quick - Juniors was spot on, mine.... really really really disappointing. The wings were just not nice; the sauce had echoes of what it once was, but that was about it. Picture it, a dad and 7 year old dining together, plates clearly finished with. Waitress correctly asks dad if all was OK and if anything further is required. Dad confirms all was OK (because I'm Irish and not going to complain, also, I ate most of it) and we are finished. Waitress then turns to child and asks if he wants anything more. no no no no no...... bold waitress, Parents speak for the kids, are you trying to create trouble on your desperate attempt to up-sell a bowl of ice cream!? luckily for me junior is happy with my response, he's good like that. We leave with me in no hurry for a return visit.

They copied the look but not the taste of Johnny Rockets. The burgers were over cooked & a bit dry. The sauce & topping, which tries to mask the dry burger, were better. Don't expect to get the classic 1950's american burger if you come here. Not even a reasonable facsimile.

Loud music, cheap drinks and good food…read more Place was absolutely packed with people in town for the American Football game so service was dreadfully slow. Had to excuse ourselves from the table multiple times to freshen drinks. The food was good. Once again, absolute star was the Buffalo Wings! Ireland? I mean what??? Perfectly cooked, sauced nicely, just spectacular! The band was playing a mix and of Irish Music and American Rock songs played to Irish tunes. Very fun and well engaged with the crowd. The restaurant itself is cozy and very warm. A great night was had by all!

Upon entering it was slightly confusing as to go upstairs or into the bar area to find the hostess to be seated & with no one there to help us we walked into the Bar area to the right & ordered a few Guinness's & waited for someone to seat us somewhere. We ended up being seated in the entry area right at the entrance which was fine because it was super loud up the stairs. We ordered the Pork Pie & The Beef Casserole. Both were really good & filling. The service was decent & the ambiance was nice although it was very, very loud. Overall it was a great meal with above average prices but I'm not sure we'd go back next time due to the other factors.

It is believed that 'Temple Bar' street's name originated from 'Sir William Temple' from the 'Temple family (you can see the same on the outer wall of the pub) The most iconic pub in Dublin, the Temple Bar Pub, sits proudly on the corner of Temple Bar and Temple Lane South. With live music from 10:30 am every day, this is a pub with a party atmosphere all day long. I was amused at how many people popped in, snapped off a quick photo or a 30-second video, and then left without stopping for a drink. Then again, at €8 a pint, and it's one of the more expensive drinks in an already expensive city ( and I did the same in 2-3 pubs), and that's fine. Doesn't matter whether you wanna have food or drink here or not, but I would definitely recommend (in capital letters), have one drink here. Yes, it's expensive (just 3-4 euros more, come on), but the vibe, that's totally worth it. I truly believe, though, that if you're going to experience Dublin, then you can't leave without experiencing Temple Bar. I had like 4-5 drinks at different pubs, and though it's touristy and "trap"- I would come here again and again. No other place has a "temple bar pub ' vibe. There is always live music, the stage is rarely empty, and the diary is always full. The Temple Bar Pub is famed throughout Dublin for its lively, traditional Irish music scene. PS: don't get confused with Temple Bar at the end of every pub. Its neighborhood name (Temple bar neighborhood), and this pub is Temple Bar pub.

Is Temple Bar an overpriced tourist trap in a saturated area of Dublin? Yes…read more However, with that said, I feel it's a must-see for first time visitors. I went during my first trip to Dublin and not again until my boyfriend and I went to Dublin together. As it was his first visit, we had to go. The bar is always packed unless you arrive as soon as they open. It's not longer after opening time that it becomes a mad house well into the night. They've always got live music and proper Guinness pours (more $$ than elsewhere). So yeah, it's a tourist trap but it's also fun if you know what you're getting into and what to expect.

No, I'm not talking about the kind you might arrange with the chubster mauling her lipstick stained fish bowl glass in Whelans at the end of an evening of debauchery.. I'm a married man now, Sir.. No, we were on a mission to consume as much smoked dead animal, coffee, pints, and antibiotics as we could before his dad came to collect him. FOR HE IS A MAN OF LIMERICK, and a kind soul - rare to find in those westerly parts. My spouse and sprog were also dressed for social warfare determined to keep up with the appetite of the warlords recently returned to the Fatherland.. Seated in the middle of the hall, a pedestal raised for the show ahead. My woman spotted her kin working the rounds and bent up to query her nationality. A match! A southerly piriguete ready to do our bidding and translate everything off the menu - CORN ON THE COBS for everyone in the audience. Do I have your attention?! Do I still have your attention? .. my meat is getting cold resting on the table while the kitchen gremlins in the back fetch water for the table next to us.. Eventually, it arrives, and I'm not surprised.. It's exactly what I ordered.. The same brisket that keeps popping up on my youtube feed every time I look for bbq recipes.. yeah, OK, it's grand, it melts in my face.. job done. I'll take the bloating diarrhoea to go, please, and a can of Fantana for the babee.. Hold up, there's 1 plate not touched.. Uncle Phil's better half. I look back, and cheeky Little Miss Fortaleza has already left, not even a goodbye.. We're all done at this stage too so Uncle Phil's wife has a choice, walk around town with a dead animal in her pocket all evening til munch time, or eat it in front of us while we counting down the minutes before Phil's dads gotta come and pick him up.. tick tick tick.. decision time.. Maybe even a lucozade bottle of soap while I'm there.. Today, a valuable lesson was learned.. Small businesses are ready for you when you walk in the door, like lambs walking into a slaughterhouse.. how didn't we see it coming.. we all know the landlords have em all by the balls, so they gotta pass it on to us and squeeze you, we're at the bottom of a pile of sweaty men, and when it's lunch time, it's crunch time.. but now.. I'm pissing upstream.. Next stop is Bah33 for my wife's birthday.. all you can eat.. mother fcukers.. I'm coming for you.. I'm gonna eat the day before to stretch my stomach, then eat nothing on the day, just hit the park beforehand for a run and a doobskin. Is there a limit on how much tap water they'll allow you? Cos I'm filling up a 5L.. custom briefs to keep tight you take aways around your saucey ghoulies.. the revolution is here and will be televised! The revolution starts neigh! Speak out and cream out! I won't stop until all small businesses are shut and we're all cooking Nigella and ordering bulk meat on the Internet! I'm happy we didn't because we really enjoyed the atmosphere. I know an American going to a new American restaurant in Ireland is a little bit weird maybe not, but the music they were playing was pretty good. It was very old-school Americano kind of style. Nothing like it is today. So if you want to get the nostalgia of a little bit of America of what it used to be definitely come on in and check it out. We were greeted by the bartender look like he was the only one taking care of everybody. Came up and told us the special and the special that we chose was the fish and chips. This place is really great because not only do you get the fish and chips at a great deal you get a pint of beer included! I believe it came out to be about €20 but that has been the best deal that I could get the whole time I was in Ireland! My partner ordered a tonic and asked for some lime and was provided was a big bottle of lime juice. Check out the photo. The fish came out with two pieces. They were perfectly flaky, and the french fries were actually pretty crispy, unlike some places we visited in Ireland the french fries were really floppy and were baked rather than deep-fried. There are different specials on the lunch menu and I believe that the lunch menu goes until 5 PM. So if you're looking for a little bit of nostalgia and a great deal, check this place out while you're walking through the streets.
