All Eddie Rockets are pretty much the same. They look the same, have the same menu and some of them even smell the same. The only thing that makes this one stand out is that it's across the road from a bowling alley. Are you thinking what I'm thinking? Get fifty of your mates dressed up like Grease or American Graffiti, we'll cruise around the respective carparks, go bowling and cause a ruckus! It'll be deadly, sorry, swell!

There are two ways at looking at this place;…read more 1. A restaurant that places a wee bit too much emphasis on pomp and ceremony (which is in itself is a very out-moded way for any such establishment to behave). You get the impression that they are trying to keep the rif-raff out, judging by the many empty tables when we were there it was working (and yet I got in... go figure...) The upshot of the above is that you have a very friendly, attentive and very professional staff, this is above all else in my book the makings of a great dining experience and sure enough it wasn't bad. Truth be told I would say the professionalism of the staff was probably the highlight of the meal - seconded by that first bite of my mains - a potted chicken dish.... after the first bite the meal went downhill a bit- I think I got the best mouthfull first! My starter was the chicken liver parfait - a very filling starter and tasty but perhaps a little too big as starters go, not a huge complaint by any measure and I would have it again. We both had the same mains - the potted chicken on a bean and pickled onion mix - the chicken as I said was very tasty but I really am not sure about the bean mix under it... actually I am sure, it wasn't great. My wife didn't agree, she said it was nice but an acquired taste. We agreed to differ and put the pistols down. 2 (or the other way of looking at the restaurant): a wee oasis of civilisation among a jungle of fast food outlets and shiny track suites. The restaurant doesn't live up to the expectations or pretentions but it is damn good none the less and I'll definitely be back. I have awarded it 4 out of 5 because we can't award halves, 3.5 would be closer to the mark.

First there were the delicious breads, then the sampler before the starter. This was a single spicy prawn with some garnish - it doesn't sound spectacular - but it was. Then the very tasy starters and then we had the cod as a main course accompanied by an exceptional white wine - Altosur Torrentes '08 at EU27 per bottle. We skipped the dessert, however we received complementary petit fours. There's a "discretionary" 12.5% service charge added to the bill. We loved the service and were happy to pay. I chose the 2-egg omelette, which has both a breakfast and a lunch variation (lunch includes a side salad). Thinking that adding a few veggies to my meal couldn't hurt, I went with the lunch version, and in fact chose the vegetarian option, which features tomato, cheese, and caramelized onions as the filling. The caramelized onions had me sold! And, to accompany the food, a nice pot of tea. The presentation was simple but inviting. instead of a typical omelette with a sort of "fat banana" shape, they rolled it like a sandwich, and cut it on a diagonal. Nice! The fillings were just right, and not too heavy or wet from the tomatoes. The tomatoes were lightly cooked. The salad, too, was inviting. In addition to greens, there was some tomato, slices of pepper, an olive or two, and some hand cut shards of carrot, which is a nice change from the usual packaged, dried-out, grated variety. It was served with a choice of white, wheat, or soda bread. It was a pleasant, light meal that was easy to eat and easy on the wallet, at just under 10.00. Best of all, my server was kind, attentive but not intrusive. She noted that I was keen to get some work done while eating, and so she cleared my plate to give me more room when I finished my food, but assured me that I was welcome to stay. I did, but of course, kept an eye to make sure that I wasn't taking up a table if it were needed. I'll definitely head back. Soon.

It's nice dim lighting with plenty of comfortable booths to sit in. The garden area is perfect for having a drink on a sunny day. There is also foosball and a pool table to keep you entertained. They also have a big projector that plays any big sports games that are on at the time. The cocktails are really delicious with a wide selection at competitive prices. So for interior/leisure/drinks I would give it a 4.5/5. However I thought the food was pretty average. I got wings which were pretty dry and tasteless. The sweet potato fries were good but not the best I've had. My friend had a burger which she claimed wasn't great either. Therefore I would highly recommend this place for a few drinks and some light bites but I wouldn't choose it as my go-to restaurant for a hangover meal. I would prefer it's sister restaurant The Counter.

It's got nice beer and really good food. The burgers where massive. Ok the beard bun was abit flimsy but the burger filled me right up. Seems to draw in a nice well kept crowd so that's really nice. Food menu stops at 10pm and around then I noticed the place started to empty around then too. Which is a shame but there is other places nearby when the crowd thins out. Still I'll be back for more food and drink :)

But everything was so awful! The service was so slow - they make you wait for tables when there are lots free, but there isn't ever enough staff to accommodate the tables, so you have to wait until a table in a particular waiter's section comes free. SO annoying! Then when you do get a table the service is really slow and the food is awful. One particular time my sister found a gummy bear in her chicken salad, my chicken ciabatta was cold and we never got our side orders. The waiter was so apologetic and really nice, but there was nothing he could really do. I ended up feeling really sorry for him - it wasn't his fault, clearly the kitchen staff couldn't handled our EXTREMELY complicated order. Not! It's a fun place to go for cocktails - but be warned. They're 90% ice, especially the big fishbowl ones. Don't be fooled!

Underneath all the wacky hats and kitschy charm of TGI's, is poor food, poor service and uncomfortable seating. Quite the disappointment.

There are great little nooks and corners that allows for intimacy amongst guests, as well as long tables that can accomodate larger groups. Also, this pub has an excellent beer garden, complete with heaters and a small fountain. The carvery lunch is from 12-3pm, is very popular here, and at times it can be difficult getting a seat for lunch. There is also a large parking lot adjacent to the pub, which allows for plenty of parking, and it's free. The pub is very accessible by bus (the 17 and the 44 stop directly in front of the pub) and by the luas (Dundrum stop), which is about a five minute walk away and can be seen from the bridge of the luas. However, this pub does have a reputation for being a bit of an "old man's pub," which is a shame, since it is actually quite a friendly and delightful place. I don't mind it being known as such, since I consider it a pleasant little secret where I can get away from the usual hectic bar scene in Dublin. Please make note: The map shown here is not accurate.
