Alright. I see that I am the only person having issues with this management company. So, I was residing at 10 Hillside Ave for a year. Got a lease renewal letter in which they proposed an 11% to 12.5% increase on my lease. A month and a half before the lease ended, I sent them a polite letter that informed them my desire to end my lease. The letter also included the address where they could send my security deposit. I moved out on 8/30/14 (the last day) and gave my keys to the super (I had initially called him and he was aware that I was moving out before month end - he said, something to the effect of "oh. You are the person moving out of 3#"). It has been five weeks after my move/almost three months after my sent my letter and my security deposit has not been reimbursed. Wondering what is happening, I called the company. The person who picked up the phone was nice until I mentioned that I wanted to know about my security deposit. She immediately changed her mood and asked me if I had sent a letter requesting it. I said that I had sent a letter before the lease ended and she responded (in a very awful tone) that the letter had to be sent after I moved out. She also claims that she does not know how long this process take (mind you, this is the same person I spoke to when I initially started the lease - so, she's been there for almost a year). I also mentioned to her that I am a native New Yorker and I have moved a lot, but this was the first time in which my deposit was pending a written request that I was never informed about. Anyway, I said I would send the letter today and she abruptly hanged up on me. I can't believe how rude she was! She probably is one of the owners of this company because I can't see how a reputable business would keep employed someone so rude to their customers. I wish I could give zero stars. read more

6555 Broadway Bronx, NY 10471 I regret not doing research on management companies before I decided to move out to this place. At this point almost 5 years after a lot of the comments I've been reading; this company hasn't changed much. It is January 30th, 2015 and the heat and Hot water issues are STILL a Problem on top of Every other issue. It is 6:41AM and I cannot sleep because of how stressed out I am due to my living conditions. I have been writing reviews Everywhere I possibly can since about 5:10am. At this point I am exhausted and will be pursuing legal Actions against this company. I am beyond tired of living in the conditions I am living as if I am some sort of less than human where my bathroom ceiling has been opened for almost 2 weeks now. The department of housing came in and has reviewed the conditions I am currently living In. The conditions are so severed they have given them 3 days to resolve the issue and They Still don't care. The staff in their Brooklyn office is just the worst type of costumer service I have received in all my years interacting with people in general. There's an older Lady that everyone says she acts the way she does simply because of her aged where she's very disrespectful when you call. As a friendly advise to the shareholders this is no way of running a business even if she's a family member, she's driving people Away from your business. She hangs up the phone "If you are taking too much of her time" they are always bouncing you around from the Brooklyn office to the Manhattan office and vice versa. Leon I belive is the name of the person in charge of leases is Never available and is ALWAYS in a meeting, he never picks up a call, they tell you to call back at around 3pm every single day when you call back, "Leon is Gone for the Day". I have been in this apartment now on my 3rd year and I have never been the type on tenant to complaint but at this point this is not only unacceptable but inhuman to think is ok to have us live under these conditions. City has given them 3 days due to the severity of the issue. read more

If I could give no stars I would. This management company is the most negligent management company I have ever dealt with. The building has constant violations, from broken elevators to unsanitary conditions. The super is offensive and treats the tenants like an annoyance. He is specifically horrible to women and only speaks with a small amount of normalcy to my husband. The common areas of the building are never cleaned and the trash piles up so high that it blocks the use of the actual trash cans. Weekly there is either, no water, no hot water or a broken down elevator. The fire department is here at least twice a month to rescue someone stuck in the elevator. They spent time and money to put landscaping on the outside of the building, yet they ignore the maintenance and reasonable upkeep of the entire apartment building, like putting lipstick on a pig. When you call or contact them for help they give you the complete run around and nothing ever gets done correctly, or completely. read more

This location is not closed that's a lie!! You're better off suing them than having any issues in your apartment fixed. These people are known for HARASSMENT! Especially to the elderly. They speak very NASTY over the phone and talk over you without trying to resolve any issue or coming to a resolution. The apartment was in nice condition, and the super was great, but dealing with management was not. They will attempt to keep some of your security deposit money, without cause. They also have a shady deal with the bank where they deposit your security deposit. The account earns interest, which you pay taxes on, but the management company keeps the interest. read more

The building was nice and in relatively good condition. Occasionally there were issues with heat and hot water, but probably no more or less so than with your typical old NYC apartment building. So why the low rating? Partially because the people at the main office are so exceedingly unpleasant to deal with if you are ever unfortunate enough to have to call them. If you are, do not expect even a basic level of respect or common decency. But mainly the low rating is because they are price-gougers, plain and simple. Without fail they will raise your rent every year, and at a rate in excess of the market average. Forget 5% or 10% annually, think more along the lines of 15%, 20%, or even 25% (and they do not negotiate at all). I renewed twice despite these increases to avoid the cost of moving, but the renewal rate the third time around was the final straw. It would have resulted in a monthly rate $1,000 more expensive than when I moved in. That's right, they tried to raise my rent $1,000 in three years, representing almost a 25% increase over the rate I paid when I moved in. Unconscionable if you ask me, and I could go on about how this is symptomatic of what this city is sadly becoming, but for the purposes of this review I'll just conclude by saying: Maybe they're not the worst out there, but they're far from the best and not worth renting from if you want to stay more than a year. read more

THIS PLACE IS SHADY AS $#%@ I spoke to idiotic "CARMEN COHEN" , who I must say cannot even send an email properly telling me my work emails bounced back to her when in reality she probably wasn't spelling my name correctly LMAO. I spoke with her the day before and told her I would make the trip up to the edge of the earth on 212 Street Inwood. (Disgusting building by the way.) Which was a good 75 min trip for me. I told her 1:30pm the day before and that I would be there sharp because I had work following the appointment. She responded with the super will be there. Wasn't really an assuring answer. The next day I texted her again where should I meet. Is the super even expecting me? She rudely brushes me off and tells me "Just buzz 5F". ( exactly the way she wrote it in a text ) I arrive at 1:30 and wait in front of the building buzzing. After 15 minutes of waiting I call her 3 times and she finally picks up and tells me she will call the super but he's out to Lunch. I wait another 15 minutes no call back , nothing! I was being jerked around and this imbecile Carmen didn't care. After 35 minutes, I realize I was being stood up. I left and told her that I was leaving, of course she didn't care. Stay away from this rats nest of a property management. I REPEAT STAY AWAY, especially that unprofessional wretch Carmen. read more

I have been renting in NYC for the past 20 years without ever having to write a review for any management company because I figure that YOU PAY for what you get in this city; however, Edel Family Management is the worst by far. It is extremely hard to report issues since they don't have a maintenance email address and you have to speak to someone name " Marcia" who also refers you to another person name "Allen" who never want to disclose their last names. After getting the run-around for a few months, finally the super showed without an appointment and expected me to stay home while he did his repairs. Now they have a bar/club downstairs without proper buffer and insolation so you can hear every single beat from their base ( Wed - Sun until 4AM). I just can't imagine the gull of them not to even inspect the property to insure the restaurant is up to date with everything before issuing a lease. I, as a licensed agent I would never take any of my clients to see or advise them to live in the building even if they were giving those units away for FREE. Wow my pipe burst last week and management quickly responded that day it was all patched up and fixed. My lease was written by some short doofy guy but he was extremely nice and hooked me up with a sweet deal on rent. The super in my building is also very nice and always tentative. All in all very happy with these people. read more

I wish that I could give No Stars, but it won't let me. If you ever see a unit for rent in ANY of their buildings, RUN-do not walk-IMMEDIATELY in the opposite direction! This management company sucks in all aspects of the word management. What they did manage was to be very rude each time you called them to complain about no heat or hot water, rodents, pests, or general problems within the building or your apartment. It took days for them to repair ANYTHING! No matter how big or small it was. I was there only a year, and they managed also to have 3 different Supers. Each one as unqualified as the next. Before I moved in, there was a list of items that were supposed to be corrected; they never were. Even when I moved out, there were still several items that weren't fixed. I pity the poor soul who rents my old apartment. It's been only on the market for a month, and they already lowered it by $50. Do your research on landlords. Trust me! You'll be better off in the long run. I am so much more happier in my new apartment because of it. read more
