One great thing about SFEFCU they didn't forget about the teacher. I was very Happy that SFEFCU went out there way to acknowledge teacher's for Teacher Appreciation week. They had a small popcorn bar set up. Kevin and Ricky were great popcorn guys. They served popcorn told jokes and made me feel appreciated. It was just a great experience. The bad the bank needs some updates.. they don't have a drive through or an atm machine on the outside. The atm machine also does not allow you to make deposit. Bummers!! So more often then not you have to stand in long lines. I recommend SFEFCU add an outside atm that you can make deposit, so patrons can bank after hours. read more

If I could rate the South Florida Educational Federal Credit Union, I would have to rate it a negative one million. My late husband and I were members for ovr 29 years. The staff is completely rude unlike the other two financial institutions I prently bank with. On the day my husband died, they emptied out our joint checking account and stated that it was now just his account since he had a credit card with them and a car loan for a 2018 Forester in his name and owed them money. I am handicapped because of a stoke seven years ago. My late husband was my caregiver. I had no money in my name except for $3,000 in savings which would not even last me a month. I almost lost my house because I could not pay the mortgage. Now they want $5000.00 from my husband's estate. They refuse to negotiate with my lawyer and never answer his emails. The only people they care about is themselves. The day after my husband's death, all I heard was "WHERE IS THE SUBARU?" They only care about their money and not the customers they serve. The South Florida Educational Federal Credit Union needs to close! Employees of Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Miami-Dade College deserve much better than this. If I treated my students this way as an educator, I would be fired on the spot. read more

this is the worst place to bank!! if i could give negative stars i would!! i closed my account via mail, they sent me a cashier's check, my bank wanted me to deposit it but i wanted the cash. i drove there and they wouldn't cash it because i had no account there! wth!! no kidding it was the check for closing my account!! they informed me i'd have to go to sun bank to get my money since the check came from there. who ever heard of such a ridiculous thing as a bank not writing their own checks nor honoring checks they purchased from another bank!!!!!! what a crappy way to deal with people and i hope they go out of business!!!!!!!!! they are the pitts and their manager is useless!!!!! read more

After banking at this institution for many years with substantial balances in my accounts, I inquired about opening a business checking account. I found that the SFEFCU is extremely customer unfriendly when it comes to business accounts. First, they require the customer to provide a certified copy of corporate organization documents. If you do not have a certified copy, obtaining it from the state requires a $30 fee and a two week turnaround time. No other bank I contacted requires this because they do their own homework on this issue. Second, the SFEFCU requires a copy of the company's operational agreement. The catch here is that by state law not all corporate entities are required to have an operational agreement. This means that if you want to open a business account with the SFEFCU you may need to draft such an agreement which could involve incurring legal fees. Next, the SFEFCU requires "resolution language" to open a business account. The representative I spoke to didn't even know what this is. Finally, once all the paperwork is gathered, it must be submitted to some Board at the SFEFCU. The Board can take up to two weeks to decide if your account will be approved. So to summarize, if you do not have a certified copy of your corporate documents, opening a business account at the SFEFCU can take up to a month, not to mention the hassle of providing them with documentation almost no other bank requires.
