THIS restaurant on the Snake River was so beautiful & relaxing! We sat outside on the patio overlooking the river! We were road tripping through Idaho & after our meal we couldn't believe we got in with no reservation! Our waitress Kara was great! My strawberry salad was super tasty. I added salmon & it was perfectly cooked & flavorful- not fishy tasting at all. My hubby had beef stroganoff & said it was ok but the sauce was not hot so it made the noodles "pasty." He LOVED the bread pudding which is one of his favorite desserts. He eats it often at many different restaurants bc we don't make it at home. I absolutely do not like bread pudding & I really enjoyed this one - it was caramel-ly & gooey but not custard/egg-like - which I preferred. We would return if we lived there! read more

Stayed at the Hampton next door. We visit Montana once or twice a year and always stay here in Burley at the Hampton. This is the first time we've had food from this place. While many restaurants allow pets in their patio, this restaurant does not. Too bad because a lot of people that stay at this Hampton have pets. Anyway, had to get the food to go since they don't allow dogs in their patio. When I went to order the food, the gal was somewhat clueless and indicated this was her first week there and just thrown out on there and was struggling with the ordering system. I ordered the broccoli soup in the bread bowl, as the menu described. When the order was received, I asked about the bread bowl and she said they don't have bread bowls anymore. Ok, then Take it off the menu and adjust the price. She didn't even offer to adjust the price of mine. My husband orders the $48 filet mignon. Crap piece of meat. Chewy and fatty! Absolute not a filet. Do not order. The veggies were ok and the salad, but they put a humongous serving of red potatoes. Stupid. This place really lacked any organization and the staff just did t seem with it. First and last time we'll eat there. read more

Terrible service and food, but restaurant is clean and well put together. Had a group of 6 and 2 people ordered halibut. It smelled super fishy and tasted horrible! They had to send back their plates and order something different. One person ordered a steak and the server put it in as Wagyu, when it was not. Received bill and the halibut was not taken off the bill. Had to tell them to take it off. To top it off, the manager never even came to the table to question the disgusting halibut. All around terrible experience, and we have eaten here before and it was good. I'd definitely recommend a different place until this place can get it figured out! read more

This place is honestly over hyped for the quality and service, it gives fancy and top tier quality vibes being next to the river but the food is subpar, I ordered the chicken piccata and the chicken was small, the veggies were equivalent of frozen veggies and the sauce was watery and lacked flavor. It's not horrible but for the premium price point, I would definitely pass on this one. Not to mention service was extremely slow during a slow evening, not that i wanted to rush by any means but i never got a check up on how the food was or a refill on water. We've eaten at this attractive local restaurant several times. The first time it was great, then they got a different chef and sadly, each time we've gone it has been less and less satisfactory. One thing that bothers us is that they have allowed the carpeting in the dining area to become very dirty which is a big turn off. (Why anyone puts carpet in a restaurant is a mystery to begin with!) On to the main issue: We took visiting family there to enjoy lunch, but our daughter found a piece of sharp broken glass in her burger sandwich... which she luckily spotted before biting into it. We called the very young waitress over to show her, and she had no reaction, just expressionless, no words of regret, apology or anything! Didn't even take the object to show the cook. She said 'I'll go check.' She came back and offered a replacement burger but our daughter didn't feel like trusting anything else at that point and declined. The waitress came back with the bill and said she had put a 'small discount' on it, but we asked that they take off the charge for the burger entirely because seh had barely eaten any. Then a different young woman came with our revised bill and just handed it to my husband... still absolutely NO WORDS of regret or astonishment about the incident... which was absolutely bizarre. No emotions or discussion or anything. We are so very thankful that there wasn't an injury from the glass, but probably won't be eating there anymore. Sad that it's going downhill. read more

We had a party of 10 and boated from Milner specifically to go to Edge Water for lunch. I went in and let the hostess know that there was 10 of us. We were gonna sit out in the back patio. She said they were busy so the weight might be a minute. Which is fine. However, when we tried to go get drinks, there was not a bartender that would serve us. And we never did see a waitress. So we left on our boat and went to the The Boat House and had the most amazing lunch and drinks. Sorry, Edgewater The Boat House gets a win.! read more

Traveling and stopped in burley for the night. Found this gem on Yelp and gave it a try. So glad we did. Service was attentive and relaxed. Ordered the Caesar salad, calamari, filet mignon and baked potato. Everything was fantastic. Cooked exactly as we wanted. House made blue cheese dressing for my side salad was amazing. The service was good. Reason for giving a tip. The steak had something pasted in the middle of and gave it a bad taste. I would go somewhere else if you're in the mood for a good steak. Over the years I been to many steakhouses across the country and this one is the bottom of the barrel. The cost paid for this meal is too much for a bad steak. Grill at home and you'll be better off. We were unaware of this great restaurant until yesterday. We love the architecture, very modern, open and comfortable. Being right on the river with covered outdoor seating gave us a great view of the water, and boating a activities. Seating was comfortable, clean tables, and spacious arrangement. We saw several outdoor gas fireplace which would be nice on cool evenings. The staff were well mannered, attentive, dressed well (uniform); no facial piercings, tattoos or bizzare hair. The menu choices were somewhat limited,which we liked, and this is not a bad thing. The focus was doing things well not schlepping a plate of undercooked or greasy tastless prepackaged food. It is so great to have a restaurant that is not a Mexican, fast food or truck stop restaurant in our area. Having worked in a restaurant years ago I know the best thing any customer can do is tell the manager if you have had a good experience or if not pleased ask to speak to the manager and recount your concerns whether it was good quality or staff/server attention. Small town in nowhere Idaho (Rupert) so the choices are limited. That said this one is conveniently located next to the new Hampton Inn (10% discount for guests) and overlooks the river. Nice location. Big facility with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. This is not particularly upscale in decor. Cloth napkins yes, but no tablecloths. That's ok, just what it is. For dinner I had the Caesar salad with salmon. Very good. Salmon was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Dressing was good and the salad was finished with croutons and shaved parm. Very good! Service was a bit slow. The crew are courteous but inexperienced. I was in no hurry but someone might wonder, where did they go? Saturday was the 2nd time I put the time, energy and money into a trip up the river from the Milner boat ramp with guests specifically to go to Edgewater Dining. The first time we made the trip up we got seated ok and then finally had to go into the bar to order a drink. There were maybe 4-5 tables in the entire facility and we couldn't get service. one of those tables got up and left right in front of 2 of the owner's who were bussing tables that had been left about 45 minutes earlier. We did finally get a server to help us and we got fed but not after about 1.5 hours invested into the meal. Saturday seems to be proof that Edgewater is getting worse and worse unfortunately. There were about the same amount of tables; we did notify the front desk we were there and were told it would be a while before they would help us. We weren't even allowed to order a drink and take it back to our table from the EMPTY bar area. Unbelievable! Edgewater, you have embarrassed me in front of my guests twice now. A missed opportunity for a place that actually has a fantastic view. The food is subpar at best--overpriced, pre-packaged items that arrive reheated and lacking any real distinction. You sit there staring at the water, wondering why anyone would build something with this kind of location and then refuse to put genuine effort into it. The owners need to decide what they want to be: fine dining or a casual chain like Applebee's. Trying to be both simply does not work. It results in a glossy, expensive version of mediocrity that respects neither the surroundings nor the people who walk through the door. It has real potential. All it would take is commitment. I came in at 4:30 pm on a Tuesday to eat dinner. I was seated at a table and provided a menu. I waited 10 minutes and a waiter never came by to take an order or to offer a glass of water. So I left. I held off on coming here because of the poor reviews. With that said, the food was really delicious and came out fast. Beautiful view and atmosphere. Servers were friendly. I got the chicken picatta and garlic parm fries. Super yummy. Though the veggies are obviously a generic frozen mix, they were really well seasoned and the best frozen veggie mix I've had. My husband had the Cajun pasta and it was too spicy for both of us. That's on us, though he did ask the waitress about it before ordering so some kind of clue from her or on the menu would have been appreciated. But it had a good flavor and great pasta. My side salad was good and fresh and the French onion soup was amazing. After the meal- the service went downhill. We finished our food and sat for a while before being able to ask for boxes and a dessert menu. Then we sat for a good fifteen minutes before deciding we'll forego dessert because it was taking too long. Sat for another 5-10 minutes and the waitress still hadn't shown up so my husband went to just pay the bill at the hostess stand where he found four employees, including the manager and our waitress, just standing there talking. So... it started out as a 5 star experience but de-escalated quickly which makes me sad because I really did want to leave a great review for these guys. read more

After reading some mixed reviews, we decided to give this restaurant a try. Overall the food and service was amazing! My wife had the bourbon burger with sweet potato fries. I had the prime rib dip and clown . My daughter had the soup, sandwich and salad combo and my son had the gluten-free flatbread pepperoni pizza. Everything looked amazing. The salads were crisp and cold. The clam chowder was delicious, although I'm used to it being a little more creamier, but it was still quite delicious. My wife's burger looked amazing but she felt the meat didn't have much flavor to it. My kids enjoyed their meals. We will definitely be back when we're in the area as the views were very nice being on the Snake river. The only bad part was they are not pet friendly and would not allow us to bring our small dog onto the patio so we had to sit inside the restaurant and look out the window and keep the car running so dog did not get overheated. I put one star because there is no option for zero stars. The venue is beautiful- right on the Snake River, boats passing by, decor and design is great. They were under staffed and had two 18 people parties on the patio before our six person party. It took 15 minutes to take our drink order. Twenty minutes later the drinks came out. Mixed drinks were light on the alcohol. The smoked old fashioned was undrinkable. 30 minutes later the food came. Sloppy plating with sauces on the plates. Pork chop and halibut were dry. Garlic mashed potatoes were a ghastly yellow color and way too salty. My ribeye was cooked as requested but was a thin cut with lots of fat. The compound butter was the best part (not good). Second round of drinks took another twenty minutes and the margaritas had little to no tequila. Bartender was terrible. I tipped the waitress because she was trying hard (20% cause I'm not a dick). Worst lunch I ever paid $417 for. Maybe they will go bankrupt and I can pick up the great property for cheap. They will be bankrupt soon if they serve more meals like this. read more

Maybe that was because we dined in that time in-between lunch and dinner (we stopped for food whilst passing through town on a road trip). Our wine & beer were left on the bar for about 15 min until i got tired of waiting & went to the bar & got them myself. We got our food and ordered an additional drink but waited again and finally had to go to the bar & retrieve my own drinks that were sitting there with no employees around. The restaurant is in an incredible location! We went there because it was on the riverfront and heard it had amazing sunset views. Indeed it did!! It was a bit cold so we did sit inside. I asked to sit by a window and she put us by a window that looked into the enclosed patio area. It was a Monday evening so it was not busy at all. Not sure why she didn't put us in the patio ( there were other people in there) The waitress seemed new as she did not know what the soup of the day was or a few other details that we wanted to know. The food was pretty good. We both got steaks and they were cooked to our liking. The prices were pretty high but that may be because of the location. I probably wouldn't have minded the price if we were sitting outside enjoying the views. I would recommend this restaurant on a cool summer evening to watch the sunset while enjoying a glass of wine. But don't expect because you're paying a higher price that you'll get over the top service or food. Enjoy. read more

I had a very frustrating experience. I asked to substitute chicken for the beef on the Swiss mushroom burger. The manager said that would be an up charge of $5.00. Then I tried to make substitutions and delete items like bacon on the chicken and avocado sandwich. The manager refused. Beautiful Restaurant, very nice people. We were very excited to try "the new place in town". We called in for short notice reservations a couple times prior and were told they were booked. Appreciate the honesty rather than making us wait a long time for a table and not having server or kitchen capacity to serve us. Tonight I made a reservation for six. We arrived and were promptly seated by a very friendly and cheerful hostess. The Restaurant is absolutely beautiful inside. Well designed and tastefully decorated. Can't wait till summer to eat with river views in the daylight. Our server suggested their Jalapeño Dip and homemade chips as an appetizer. We also ordered the pulled pork nachos to have plenty to share. The homemade chips and Jalapeño dip is a real winner. The nachos not so much. Nachos had a cheese sauce on them that reminded me of what you get in a gas station or cheap Mexican fast food definitely not worthy of the look, feel or expectation of this place. On the positive apps came out quickly and well ahead of our entree's. Our server brought fresh bread as well. It was possibly the winner of the night. Most of our table ordered light, I ordered the MahiMahi which came with a dinner salad. The salad was pretty mediocre, I ordered it with Blue Cheese dressing. While I don't think what I got was blue cheese the dressing was very nice and I ate the big chunky stemmy lettuce just to get all the dressing. We had a wide variety of entrees at the table, MahiMahi, burgers, fish tacos, prime rib Philly. With a full variety of sides. My mahi-mahi was cooked perfectly, tender and moist Cuddos on getting it right. Unfortunately there was no taste, the fish doesn't really carry much flavor naturally so it depends on a good preparation. This one missed the mark, I found myself searching for another caper or something on my plate to smear it in to let my pallet know I was eating. It came with steamed vegetables which were tender but not mushy, just how I like, and a baked potato which to my surprise was smeared in that nasty nacho cheese sauce. That was a real let down, how can you do that to a beautiful baked potato and in such a nice restaurant. Didn't see that coming. The others at the table found much the same, presentation was nice but the food lacked flavor and definitely didn't match the beauty of the building and decor or the kindness and cheer of the staff. The burgers were very disappointing, small, over cooked (ordered medium and appeared and tasted beyond well) and lost in a huge bun, then served with fast food style fry's from the freezer, in the fresh potato capitol of the world one would expect better. I have traveled extensively and eaten in many of the worlds best restaurants and unfortunately a few of the worlds worst. EdgeWater is neither. We'll return and try the steaks, maybe that will be where the magic lies. They did a lot of things right and I have high hopes for the future.
