Came to Edgewater to visit family for a week, and this Gym was down the street. Purchase a 7 day pass and got my sweat on. Customer service was outstanding and the equipment is a combination of new and old equipment. Reminds me of the Old School golds Gym I love it. I've been coming here for years and I love it. But recently it's been overcrowded with minors who (according to the rules or so I thought) aren't allowed to workout unaccompanied. They disrespect the equipment and the other patrons in the gym by slamming weight stacks, not re racking plates, and not wiping down equipment. I know I sound like a geezer here, but management seriously needs to get this under control. read more

As a 15 year old, this gym is great. Price is a little over the top for me, but it can be managed with the money I earn. All the equipment is clean after every use and the equipment is in perfect condition, no need for any of them to be fixed. If you go there, there is at least one machine that targets what you need. The staff are not very aware. Every time I walk in they are either on their phones or no where to be seen... I stood at the desk for 5 minutes waiting for someone to come up just so I could get a drink! I wish they were more aware and acknowledge your presence when you approach the desk. I've been using this gym for the last few years because the price is right and they have all the standard equipment. The spinning and yoga instructors I've used we're acceptable. The club is kept clean and has good ventilation and wifi. There is enough room to do any kind of exercise you're into. Now onto the negatives: there is a need for more free weight plates. If you're lifting during a busy part of the day you may find yourself spending more time looking for plates than lifting. I haven't seen a new piece of cardio equipment added, the equipment they do have is outdated, rusty, cracked and often incorrectly maintained. Most of the tv screens on the treadmills have some kind of issue. The floor is in very poor condition in the large class area. Today I brought my son to the daycare and we were gonna use the little 25 cent candy machine as is our weekly tradition. It had been removed without any notice. I mentioned it to the daycare providers and they said "It's gonna be a long week, lots of kids get candy." I wanted to put a comment about this in the suggestion box as I have done a few times. The box had been removed as well, I was told that I can email my suggestions. I was told these changes had been done by "the new management". I would hope that "new management" would focus on making positive changes by addition before focusing on removing perfectly functional elements. I'm very disappointed by these management decisions so far. There is one plate rack with about 150lbs worth of plates in it so I don't really know how anyone can follow the directions on this sign. Update: Lots of new equipment was added and improvements to the facility have recently been made. Had to add a few stars to my rating. read more

Nice gym with good equipment. I have been a member for about 4 years and it continues to improve each year with new equipment and changes.

There's three squat racks and nobody curls in them. The patrons let you work in sets and check to make sure if anybody is using any equipment before claiming it for themselves. Most people re wrack their weights and if they don't, the serious lifters get to sneak in extra volume doing so, so plates have been decent to find. No frills, no special characteristics, no problem. It has space to stretch, enough cardio machines to find a sweat, it has a weight room with weights and things to put the weights on, it has bars above or beneath shoulder height that you can pull yourself up on or push yourself above. I'm not sure what else you could want. read more

If you are on subscription and can't go to the gym for COVID issues drop immediately. People are entering without masks not waiting until they work out. I was billed though no one was available to take phone calls for several months. As a member I was never contacted that they were closing, or reopening. So I went in person and waited over 10:00 with people walking in and out with no mask. Now that we know the virus is airborne. At least they could wait to unmask past the entrance. I was in town visiting my family and wanted to get a good workout in. I got a three day pass at Edgewater Fitness and my experience was very unpleasant. Wanted to get a good lift in with my little cousins, haven't seen them in ages. Mask dementors following you wherever you go. Lost all my lunch trying to breathe through my mask. Kicked my cousin out for trying to breathe. Yelled at my other cousin for drinking water. Moldy ceiling tiles. I unfortunately will only be redeeming one of my three days. read more

Other than friendly staff and an effort to keep the club clean, it's probably one of the worst gyms I've ever been to. The music, while subjective, could be anything other than coffee house tunes. The free weight area is dark, the plates are 50+ years old, the equipment is archaic, the dumbbell setup is absolutely terrible. The cardio is mostly 10+ years old, ceiling tiles from the 1970s safesway grocery store leads me to believe the ventilation is also dirty. Lately there is a smell in the air too and I don't know what that is about. This club needs a major facelift and some updated equipment. read more

After more than a year, I've just cancelled my membership to Edgewater Fitness. The gym is unsanitary and a health risk--the amount of mold in the men's locker room is astonishing. Mold completely covers the ceiling of the showers, shower stalls, and soap dispensers. Management's response was completely inept--no apology, statements that they'd schedule a cleaning and it's a ventilation issue, but absolutely no resolution. Quite a shame since most the staff and patrons are friendly, the cycling classes were great (even if the bikes were old), and the price was right. I'll second others' comments--cardio equipment is dated (was told new equipment was being swapped in when I first joined, never happened) and pieces are regularly broken. read more

This gym charges a substantial cancellation fee even if you have satisfied the term of your membership. Yes, I suppose it was in the contract which I can't find now, but certainly nobody called my attention to it when I signed up, and if I had seen it I probably thought it was an *early* cancellation fee. I have had gym memberships before, and once you paid your however many months, you were done. I think people should be aware of this, and should not go to this gym as long as it has this silly and misleading policy. Also, the gym is too hot. read more

This gym is amazing. Best gym in the area by far. I have been a member of every gym over the past 15 years in the Annapolis/ Millersville/ Odenton area and I have never been happier. I love it, my kids love it, and now my friends have joined and they love it too! The manager Jeff Dibler is involved with the gym by teaching classes and always ready to hear suggestions and feedback. All of the instructors are amazing too. The large size of this gym gives you plenty of space to work out. Tons of equipment including treadmills. I can not say enough positive things about Edgewater Fitness! I'm really enjoying my membership here! The classes are awesome. Terry is the best Zumba instructor and classes are even scheduled at 6-630pm, great for working people. This gym is absolutely incredible. I just moved away to Philadelphia and I'm having a really tough time finding a gym that's of the same caliber. Edgewater Fitness has set my bar high so it isn't going to be easy. They're a fair price, they have plenty of equipment, a lot of them time it's pretty slow in there so you don't have to fight over equipment, and it's always kept spotless. This is a no-frills basic gym with a good location. I've been a member using a three-month option (renewed several times) and have been happy with my choice. Previous reviews capture some of the negative aspects (poor wifi/TV setup, older equipment not working, bad floors) but these things are manageable (and some of them fixed) and I have never lacked for or waited for equipment. I like the diversity of this gym - really old people, young people, athletes, couch potatoes, etc., and feel quite at home here. What I do not like is the major price increase, in my case 20% increase. They have cleaned the place up a bit and fixed a few things, but given the clientele, I think they may have misjudged this local market and sensitivity to price. Depending on the membership level, you do have an option to use the new management's other gym in Annapolis, but folks I've talked to sort of chuckled about this "perk". Most people I know who use this gym like it because of its proximity to their homes/businesses and have no interest in traveling to Annapolis. I want a working gym and not a fancy one. Gym is nice, but quite noisey. The staff allows free-weight lifters slam their weights to the floor, on top of other weights, etc. If you are nearby it is distracting. However my main complaint is their business practice of requiring 45 days cancellation notice IN PERSON. They would not accept my notice over the phone (I had my membership number) and required that I show up in person. This is an obvious means for them to gouge customers as they move away or resign for any reason. read more

If you are joining this gym for the group classes ask them before signing if they have fixed the microphone. With a large class and music you can not always hear the instructor, people are doing different exercises because they can't hear or doing the exercise wrong which could lead to injury, sometime you have to break form to look up to see what the instructor is doing because you can't hear. So definitely not getting the most out of the class. If they would fix that I could give them an excellent but it has been broken for over a month already. read more

It's a gym that reminds me of an owner who cared at one point then let it fall apart unwilling to invest in machine up keep and maintenance. Went today half the treadmills were taken by a class the other half either not on or broken. Also the Internet never works so good luck streaming music while working out. I recently moved to the area and after trying several gyms I have found that Edgewater Fitness suits my needs the best. They are clean, there are always wipes available and have a spacious locker room. I don't do classes, but they look pretty awesome and are well attended. Best part: tons of equipment. Lots of cardio, a TRX area, a huge weight room and a bunch of other things like jump boxes, kettlebells ropes and a big open area will give just about anyone a good workout depending on your fitness flavor. They even have a small area that is for women which would have really appealed to me when I was first starting out. I love: that there are all kinds of members, from super fit to just working on it and you could stroll in there at any phase and not feel self conscious about it. Everybody does their thing which is a pleasure. I hate the 20 minute drive but it is worth it. Keep up the good work. read more
