This parking lot is between Sunnydale Dr and Sunset Point Dr. It also has benches to sit on, and a sidewalk that goes well into Dunedin's Main Street. The tide was out, and we were one of three cars when we pulled in. I decided to see what was going on down by the water side. A guy was fishing, there were a lot of little crabs and I found a large painted rock down on the water's edge. I took some phots and then came up and decided to walk, because the park is not just that parking area, its all that edge water area. There are benches, there are palm trees. It's really just a nice area along Dunedin's water front that make this such a plesant area to be in.

They beer fest itself was pretty underwhelming considering the other festivals we've been to as they only had a couple stands to get different local options at. We go for the local beers, not nationally distributed stuff you can get anywhere. We did try some interesting twists on deviled eggs from Wicked Chicken's Deviled Eggs while walking around. One I think was made with truffles and the other had bacon on it but honestly do not remember the actual combinations. I did find some humor in the fact that the wrist bands were sponsored by a lawyer's office... juuuuust in case you need them from having too much to drink at the festival. LOL.

We took a picture of the map, and I'm glad we did, because it would be easy to get turned around in there. Unfortunately there is no great flow to the walking paths and trails. Many of the trails intersect with each other, and while well-marked, we found ourselves just walking aimlessly. The bodies of water we passed were murky, and the swamp smell was pretty strong. Also, one of the boardwalks was closed the day we were there, so we couldn't explore that area. They do offer disc golf there, which I think is a cool idea. Plus, there is a free butterfly garden in the park, although nothing was blooming in it so we only saw two butterflies. One of the things I enjoy most about Florida parks is all the wildlife you get to see - and that did not happen here; we saw one heron (or egret?) and that was it. It is very well maintained for a free park, though, so if you're in the area you should stop in and experience it.

Plenty of benches for weary parents to sit on, they also have bathrooms nearby. You can cross the street and go to see the water for some ad in sightseeing while in the area. All along in Pinellas Trail, you will find bars, restaurants and cafés. Should you get hungry or thirsty. Make a day out of it!

Always enough room to park a car. Unfortunately, rule enforcement at this park and many others in the Tampa Bay area seems non-existent as we regularly come across unapologetic violators, i.e. loud motorcycles literally speeding through or roaming around, dogs not kept on a leash and invading people's personal space, people watching videos on their phone on speaker, etc. This keeps getting worse and Law Enforcement is too slow to respond.

Lake Chautaqua offers more shade and, if you like, a paved walkway that runs along the road. There are also some well-established paths within the wooded area, which I really like. It tends to be cooler there and gives the dogs plenty to sniff. There are many places to toss your dog's waste, and most people adhere to cleaning up after their pets. A large parking lot toward the beginning of the park has water stations for adults, children, and dogs. There is also an available hose in a small fenced-in area. It's not overly crowded. It is peaceful and you get the feeling you are in nature, although you are surrounded by neighborhoods.

I took my pup and saw others w/theirs - some people do not abide by the leash rule FYI. My shelter dog gets easily scared by other dogs, so that was the only part I didn't like. Trash bags are provided for you to help maintain the trail, so be sure to pickup your dog's poop! This place is beautiful - it was baren despite going on the weekend and gives you a chance to really soak in the beauty. Of course, the oak trees & palms including many other plants/trees I couldn't identify are so pretty. There's a small pond (catch & release) surrounded by overgrown vines and trees & two small bridges. There's a dock that overlooks the lake - I somehow missed it and will def. return to check it out. No restrooms. Paved paths available if you prefer. Parking is plentiful.

The capacity of Kiwanis Sprayground is 90 kids and kids under 3 must wear waterproof diapers to prevent unwanted accidents. The water park has staff that monitors the grounds for kids accidents and the staff is pretty prompt about temporarily closing the whole Waterpark down and cleaning up kids accidents, which is nice. The Water park features a dragon, a gator, flowers, a pirate ship slide, hoops, a mushroom waterfall, and a dolphin with water everywhere! Next we visited Highlander's Aquatic Center Pool with 2 slides that the kids loved. The pool was clean, had a lifeguard, and had friendly staff! The aquatic center has swimming classes and after school kids babysitting programs. Highlander Park's Kids playground is officially designed for kids 5-12, has 4 slides, a fish theme, a rock climbing wall, and swings. The kids playground is not covered from the sun is about medium in size. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here just for the playground but it's a nice addition to complement everything else kids can do at this park. Highlander Park occupies a whopping 70 acres and is Dunedin's second largest park. Highlander Park has a multi-use recreation area featuring the Dunedin Community Center, the Fine Art Center, 3 playgrounds, picnic tables, picnic pavilions, tennis courts, sand volleyball, baseball little league fields. Highlander park hosts many community events here including the annual Dunedin Celtic Festival which I had the pleasure of attending many moons ago. If you're in Westchase, Oldsmar, Dunedin, or Clearwater, I highly recommend making a short drive to Dunedin's Highlander Park to give your kids hours of fun!

The director came out and told everyone to move because it was a fire hazard which is understandable. She also mentioned that the pool was still open which is a lie because they legally can't be open if there is lightning within a 10 mile radius. Nobody moved so she called the police for assistance... again, understandable. Meanwhile, she had her staff in the pool with Lightning 3 miles away. By law, pools have to close if Lightning is within a 10 mile radius. This would be a form of negligence if anyone was struck and can result in prison time. This happened around 10:30AM on 9/27/25.

A short drive to the paying booth for taking the ferry from honeymoon to caladesi. It is $20 dollars but they do take military discount too! The two guys on the boat are very funny guys. The captain loves to tell dad jokes and the other tells you fun facts about the islands. It's a short ride to caladesi. Once we arrived there was lots to explore however my friend and I just had a beach day. There is construction going on due to the past hurricanes but there is bathrooms, a cafe, and plenty of shade and trails! I can't wait to go back and explore more. The ferry takes off from honeymoon every hour and from caladesi every half hour. Highly recommend a day trip here!! Water is so nice.

Caladesi Island is a gorgeous beach area located just next to Honeymoon Island in Dunedin, FL. What…read moremakes it so special is that it's only accessible by boat or ferry so it tends to get less crowded than other nearby beaches. For a small fee you can take the ferry there and back and you are able to bring coolers, umbrellas, beach chairs or whatever you might need for a relaxing day at the beach. They do have a small snack bar to get burgers and things like that and there is also a small store to buy essentials such as sunscreen. If you're looking for a pristine, clean not overcrowded beach where you can get some beautiful seashells then this is the place for you!

Foley Nature Preserve in Safety Harbor is a true hidden gem and an easy five-star experience…read more Tucked away in a quiet area, it's the kind of place that instantly slows things down and lets you enjoy a more peaceful side of Florida. The trails are well maintained and easy to walk, making it perfect for a relaxing stroll. Surrounded by native plants and shady trees, it feels like a little escape from the busier spots nearby. There's just enough nature here to make it interesting without being overwhelming, and it's great for spotting birds and enjoying some quiet time. What I really appreciated was how calm and uncrowded it felt. It's not one of those packed parks it's more of a low-key spot where you can clear your head, take a walk, and just enjoy being outside. Everything was clean and well cared for, which always makes a difference. If you're in the Safety Harbor area and looking for a peaceful place to walk or unwind, Foley Nature Preserve is definitely worth checking out. Simple, relaxing, and exactly what you want in a nature spot we'll be back for sure.
