So happy about the things the beach house has to offer . I got a quesadilla and pizza dippers . They were so good . I was so hungover and this sobered me right up . We just went to the beach part. The water was warm and the beach wasn't too crowded. It looked a little dingy. They don't allow any "floatation devices" at all- the lifeguard told us they haven't for a year, but he's not sure why. It has a pretty view. Nice waves. The water is still lake Erie, so less than pristine, but with Cleveland metro parks taking over, the sand is better, permanent volleyball courts inserted, and live music and beach beer every Thursday throughout the summer? I love Edgewater Park. Others have said this same thing, so I won't dwell on it too much... but ever since the State Park system handed Edgewater over to the Cleveland Metroparks this year, everything about it has improved so much. It was already a beautiful place with a great view, and now it's cleaner with more inviting activities and events. Many praises to Metroparks for managing this park so well. One of my favorite memories from this past summer have been of: 1) Edgewater Live, which features live music, food trucks, and family friendly events. And lounging on the beach. Definitely check it out. 2) grilling in the pavilions with my friends. Plenty of space with lots of sports and places to explore. Some great things about Edgewater: - GREAT bike path along the park with a bike box, recycled from an old shipping containers. There's also a connection to W 65th (and I think another one to battery park? not sure) - The sand is cleaner and softer here than the east side beaches, which tend to be more rocky. - The Metroparks put standing umbrellas on the beach for public use - Ice cream available! Honey Hut! - Events like free yoga and not-free stand up paddle boarding at Edgewater Live - Great pier and stone path along the water. People fish along the path and older Middle Eastern people come and bring their hookahs. It's a great place to watch the sunset over the Cleveland skyline. I love coming here in the summer and I look forward to spending more time here next summer! read more

Overall, this is the best beach/park along Lake Erie that I've ever been to. Much cleaner than beaches near Buffalo. My only complaint is that the main beach area has tons of rules and a very small swimming area. It's really best for small children since the water is shallow and you are not allowed past a certain point. Inner tubes and floats are not allowed (not even water wings!) and the lifeguards clear the water for "safety checks" every half hour of so. I would prefer the western end, where there are no lifeguards, but this is a dog beach. I've never had a problem, but it's very hard to relax with loose dogs running around. Aside from these issues, the green space is very nice and I felt very safe. The concession stand makes great food, but it's annoying that they don't offer straws anymore. The beach is the last place you want a beverage without a lid. read more

Our first time here to the park and it smells like weed and there are cops around. Secondly, once you hit the beach there is a crap ton of people and children and dogs off leash and one attacks my dog. I'm pretty sure this is supposed to have leashed dogs. What should have been enjoyable, turned out to be a waste of time. read more

An excellent way to spend an afternoon. Tons of trees to provide shade on hot sunny days. Stop by the cleveland sign to take a picture with friends featuring the cleveland skyline in the back. There isn't a ton of parking though, so plan accordingly for big events! A restroom is available, but it is a bit of a walk. read more

The place was a bit dirty and unkempt, but served a great purpose for me, as I had a couple of 9 yr olds with time to kill on a nice summer afternoon. Kids that age aren't overly picky about weeds and dirty sand. The water is warm, and there are waves, and that's about all that mattered to them. This could be a nice place. There's potential here. The city, or the state, needs to take charge and fix this place up a bit. Avoid the bathrooms at all costs. I feel like you could catch a disease by simply walking inside of it. read more

The new beach house area is very nice. They did a great job revamping the area and turning it into a modern venue. Upstairs has a full bar, lounge areas with couches and fireplace. Did i mention the full bar area....LOL. Come on down and enjoy yourself this summer.It's very nice. read more

This was my first stop while on vacation in Cleveland. It's a nice spot to get close to Lake Erie. It's also great to take pictures of the Cleveland skyline with the lake in the foreground. It was a very warm day and a lot of people were there on the beach. Bathrooms were filthy. read more

Despite the perverts lurking around here at night this is a great place. I'm an especially big fan of the path that leads through the woods to the beach. I've met some cool people here. I have fond memories of middle school cross country races here, especially the one where I only had sweatpants and no shorts. My coach made me wear female running shorts. As you can imagine these aren't all that spacious or material intensive. I remember seeing photos of this race- it looked like I had no pants on! Anyway this park has everything- exhibitionists that set up a blanket next to the highway, colorful condoms everywhere, dead floating rats, syringes, surfers, runners and cyclists. read more

I was very surprised to find this gem when I moved to Cleveland. Never thought a lake beach could be this nice! Love that this beach is free which doesn't happen often in New York. Plenty of room on the beach, even on a crowded weekend. There's also huge grassy area with picnic tables and coal grills to use. On Thursdays in the summer there's Edgewater Live where there are a bunch of food trucks and a live cover band that plays. Love Edgewater Park and will be visiting often in the summer! read more

Great, free, beautiful, and plenty of parking up top, and below. The Cleveland sign is on the upper level. The Edgewater Live events are always fun with great food truck options. Solid place to watch the sunset or go on a walk. They added lights that follow the path to the top, which is nice. Definitely a solid, multipurpose area. read more

I love Metroparks.. basically one of the only things I can say I truly love about Cleveland, so far.. edgewater Park holds a special place in my heart now though. I live right down the street so it's super convenient for me to cross under the new tunnel to get right onto the beach. the tunnel, although a little leaky, is really nice, clean, well lit. the beach is great and I love that people actually use it as a beach and lounge and sun bathe in towels. the water at times could be cleaner, but what are ya gonna do? it's a lake, not an ocean, the waves aren't getting that big. the track is a good size for running.. About 1.8 miles around. good view on the lake side. my favorite part by far is the upper west side, you run off the trail when you get to the top of the hill, and run down some wooden steps, and keep going on the trail. it's a short trail, but the view to the lake and downtown is beautiful. I plan on having picnics there in the summer :D read more

Since the Cleveland Metroparks took over this summer, they have done a tremendous job of keeping Edgewater's trees trimmed, leaves raked, paths cleared and the beach combed each morning. On morning walks there are always Metroparks workers around though less now that the weather is changing in the fall, but even this cold morning, a few little green service carts were zipping around, emptying wastebaskets. There is even a large recycling bin at the end of one of the parking lots. Workers also have installed a number of fitness-trail exercise stations along the lower path for other physical activities to change-up a walking or running routine. Both the lower and upper walking paths provide compelling views of the lake, the downtown cityscape or of Cleveland's west coast. There are lovely old trees in the upper park and plenty of picnic tables. And there are fine opportunities to watch birds, waterfowl and even deer - from the great blue heron perched on the jetty of rocks near the beach to the lone white swan who arrived to claim a beachfront spot for herself after chasing Canadian geese away. I love Edgewater and recommend a visit for anyone who wants to enjoy some of the best nature near the city. read more

It's 20 years since I've been to Edgewater, WOW has it changed. Its now triple the size, Clean a family friendly park and beach with concessions, volleyball and more. I love the new Cleveland sign overlooking downtown. We wanted to take picture and had to wait 45 minutes in a line. Well worth the wait. Great job Cleveland. read more

This is one of my favorite parks in Cleveland!! So close to downtown! It's great for picnics and if you want to sunbathe! They have a honey hut ice cream kiosk that has the most delicious pecan ice cream! There's a beautiful tree next to the water that is just gorgeous! I like edgewater park. Mostly for the lower part of it. As said before it does tend to get trashy. The upper area fills up every weekend with families and reunions and parties. The lower has a nice .90 mile track, which is why I'm normally there. Two snack bar type places, never been. Park closes at 11p. Police are on it like a mofo, I've been stopped several times. So be careful. read more

A really glad park by the lake and close to down town. You can't miss the great views. Want to look at water? Check! City skyline? Check! Airplanes? Check! Perfect place to fly a kite. Swimming? It's a nice enough park but kind of sketchy. When I went, there were people swimming in the lake which sounds disgusting. Not far away there were people It could use a more walkable space along the water - instead of massive rocks that are difficult to navigate. There's plenty of grass space for the kiddies to run around, have a picnic, and paths for running but the location's not that convenient. read more

The park is nice. It's beautiful Lake Erie, and nothing is better than that. The water does go through periods of being unsafe, and the park itself is just really not that pretty. But it is always a nice occasion. Often quieter than other beaches, but can still get busy on warm summer days. read more

My family and I stopped by (for the first time) to Edgewater Live, last night. First of all, I've got to say that the grounds (park and beach) have significantly improved since I was there last year. The grass is well maintain, and the beach sand is nice too. Water may be a different story, but that will never change. Anyways, I was so happy to see that Cleveland is using this park now how they are with Edgewater live - it's about time! From all the food trucks to beer tent (which they need more i.e. Great Lakes and other local Brewers there, it was truly a great and affordable time. Definitely will look to go again soon. read more

It is a nice place, But............It needs a major face lift of sort. The pier should be at least a 1-1.5 mile long with old fashioned street lamps and bench seats. It could also use a board walk and dockage for 20 - 40 boats (not over nite.) Larger washrooms and a nicer concession unit. Let's take note, Rocky river has a pier, Bigger than edgewater park (lol), as does the city of lorain, Their pier is about a mile long And they are working around it to make it nicer.. I have a challenge, Sometime in may or june, Let's try to get 100 people there and clean up the old trees and over grown brush. As long as the city does not object. I, As a republican, Would be willing to pay to have one of the NICEST PARKS IN NORTHERN OHIO AND AROUND THE GREAT LAKES ! I am NOT knocking the park, But let's honest, It does need a bit of work and some construction work to be spectacular...What are your thoughts ? I suppose this place is ok for Cleveland. I mean I cant expect super high quality sand in the Midwest, right? But something that DID bother me a lot when I was tanning was the little floating cotton like thing early in the summer. It was nasty. they literally invaded the entire beach like bio weapon, and then they just stick to your body cuz your sweating under the sun. The next weekend we went, there was some major water pollution. we saw BLACK water padding the shore, and we could smell it too. That was bad. SO, don't go there if you see water pollution report, and try to go in the mid/late summer so you dont have to deal with those annoying cotton things in the air. read more

Like people before me said, great idea but the park is frequented by creepy guys trolling the parking lots. I was just there and I had just recently discovered the western part of the park and had 2 really disturbing incidents within 10 minutes of parking my car. A van entered the circular lot where I was parked and reading, proceeded to crawl through the lot driving really close to the cars until he went past all of us. He then parked right next to me at an odd angle (with the entire lot basically open) and unabashedly stared at me for long enough that I was unable to ignore it. Creeped out, I pulled out and drove once over to the other side and then when I got back he was gone, so I parked right back where I was. I didn't even get the bookmark out of my book before another man pulls in and does the exact same sweep of the lot and then parked right next to me and started staring at me. Disturbed, I tried my trick again but this guy followed me over to the other side and was about to park next to me again but I didn't give him the chance, I was out of there. So you will love this park if you like sex-starved gay men but they are incredibly annoying read more

Best beach around Cleveland. I love that the metro parks took it over. In the summer the beach is raked every day, lifeguards are on staff and umbrellas are put up for use. You can lay in the sun, walk around the park, bike, cook out and enjoy the sunset. In the winter you can ski or snow shoe. Definitely a perfect spot all year round. read more
