It had been years since I hung out Edgewater and I see it really has changed. Even the landscaping looks upgraded. I attended the 3rd installment of the 2019 Edgewater Moves events put on by Nola Movement. I could not have had a better time. The setup was under the huge Willow Ceremonial Tree right by the water and rocks. We were able to catch a glimpse of nearby boaters and the beautiful sunset as we danced to beautiful Caribbean beats. I'm so sad I missed the other two installments of the series. Nike, Kelly, and Iris worked us out so well. I hope this series returns next summer. The park was clean and peaceful on a Friday night no less. It was busy, but the vibe remained good. I will definitely make a point to visit more often going forward. read more

Beautiful beach that is dog friendly! Really lovely stretch of sand, plenty of shade, super views of downtown Cleveland and if you have access to one, you can drive your boat ride up to the shore. Walking trails lead to the shore and to grassy areas where you can barbecue, picnic and refill the dogs' water bowls. read more

Located just minutes from downtown, this landmark beach has improved greatly since taken over several years ago by the Metro park system. It is a great way to picnic, grill, swim and run, bike or walk on the paved walkway. You can park up top near the Cleveland sign and walk down to the beach. The beach us clean and the bay is 900 feet. Beautiful views if the city and lighthouse seen from above. The beautiful pavilion has a lively bar with ample seating. Trip C creative arts program offers live music every week in the summer. Edgewater LIVE has food trucks and refreshing adult beverages. Bring your blanket, sunscreen and chill. This is truly a huge improvement over the Edgewater park that I knew as a child. If you have not been there within the last 2 years, treat yourself, you will not be disappointed. read more

The sand isn't my favorite and tends to get very dusty especially if there's any wind. Great park! Loads of available parking, nice big grassy areas, a BEACH! Fun new Edgewater pool house has a decent spread of concessions, lovely view, and clean bathrooms - a rare gem at a park! Just outside the pool house is a fun living landscape photo opp, and you can walk ~3/4 mile to Upper Edgewater Park for one of the "Cleveland" signs. Definitely a place I would take friends or family again, especially if paired with eating at one of the tasty nearby restaurants (Spice, Latitude 41, Happy Dog, XYZ tavern). read more

it's a really awesome park that my nephew loved. The playground looks so cool live and I wanna play on it and I'm in my 30s. The surrounding park is gorgeous and wooded. The public beach is also right below you down a hill. To reach it you go through this gorgeously wooded trail. It was a fantastic experience and it cost nothing! read more

A hidden gem in plain sight. My wife and I visit Cleveland frequently, but never visited Edgewater Park until our most recent journey to CLE. The park is easy to find whether it's from downtown or elsewhere in the city. There are numerous access points and parking is aplenty. We observed a fishing pier, huge beach area, open fields, hiking/biking trails, and even a stand to get ice cream or treats. A script Cleveland sign on the west side of the park provides a great place to take a photo with a beautiful backdrop of downtown Cleveland to the rear. We saw a metro park ranger patrolling as well which added a sense of safety while navigating this prized location. We will be returning to learn more about the park. read more

The way Edgewater has changed for the better over the years has been phenomenal! The beach is consistently kept in such great shape and it is the perfect place to hang out with friends and enjoy yourself in the summer. The beach has a cool boardwalk that extends out giving a great view of the city and the park has awesome events in the summer like Edgewater Live that is free and a great way to spend a summer night. It is also large enough that you can just go to walk around on different paths that extend around the park. There is also a lot of outside groups that come in and do different events at the park like yoga, etc. that you are able to participate in and there is even a little cafe type food place that has a few different options too. read more

Awesome park. Came here Memorial Day weekend on our visit to Cleveland to watch the Air Show. The park is huge with a small beach. Lots of parking space and lots of picnic tables with grills. I wanted to get some exercise on Christmas Day so decided to check out the Edgewater Park. I didn't see any review telling us where the "Cleveland" sign is located. It's by the Richard Wagner statue. We parked in the small parking lot there then walked down to the dog park area of the beach. What a nice walk with beautiful sights except for one thing. There is a sewer outlet with warning signs near the dog beach park. This means the waste enters the water. The warning sign states "The large round black disk on the concrete may open and discharge untreated sewage at any time. Stay clear of the area between the concrete walls and the beach area from the walls to the lake." I would not swim in this water during summer time. I would not let my rescued dogs play in the area but I enjoyed the walk. It was good exercise. read more

What a great beach and park! I will need to come back to Edgewater Park with my puppies and hubby! The beach is expansive with comfortable clean sand right up to the edge of the water (see what I did there ). There are covered and uncovered picnic areas, acres of manicured lawn, a fishing pier, clean and plenty full restrooms, a decent beach cafe and a fully stocked and staffed bar! Wow, never have seen that at a California beach. There is comfy outdoor covered seating, two giant swing benches and even a gas outdoor fireplace for additional ambiance. Sitting on the upper deck, sipping a cocktail, watching the sunset over a calm Lake Erie was absolutely bliss About 50 of us showed up for the beach cleanup today at sponsored by Barefoot wine! I got here and picked up my gear then headed to the parking lot to clean. The beach already had a bunch of people cleaning so I went the other way. read more

This park is absolutely gorgeous. On a Saturday, it was rather crowded as you would imagine but not too crowded to breathe or do anything. There is much open space for everyone to enjoy. We saw a wedding party taking photos. Lots of picnic areas and places to grill food. My favorite thing is the paved walkway smooth enough to skate on. This is hard to find and here it is with a beautiful waterfront landscape! You can the see the city in the background right in the distance. This park is a must visit, though I wish we had found the Cleveland sign. Maybe next time! read more

COME HERE IF YOURE IN CLEVELAND. PICK THIS OVER HUNTINGTON! Trust me. Bf and I came up here a few days ago (we hail from Cbus) and checked out both beaches. This one is way better than Huntington which smelled bad and what little sand it did have was painful to step on. Not much of a view of the city either. Edgewater, on the other hand, was breathtaking, clean, contained much more spacious & softer sand, has a place for even pets, a nearby open area city park with picnic tables, a beautiful skyline view of city for pictures, and a super awesome touristy "Cleveland" sign for more pictures. It's also way closer to the yummy restaurants in the city. Skip Huntington, come here :) read more

I went to the beach yesterday evening for the last Edgewater Live of the summer and had a good time. It was my first time at the event and I have to say, It was a nice setting. Many people were on the beach sitting in lawn chairs, blankets or towels vining out to the music and atmosphere. The beach is nice and clean and there was a lot of space for activities. Many people were playing volleyball at the nets and walking the food trucks that were there. All in all, it was a good time and I'm glad the sun came out, I only wish at had went to more during the summer! read more

There is something almost holy about any large body of water. Edgewater Park is no exception for showcasing this beauty of Lake Erie. I have been here throughout all the seasons Cleveland has to offer. I definitely prefer the summer, but encourage you to come out and visit during the winter months as well. There is a nice stretch of sandy beach. Attached to the beach are volleyball courts and grassy fields for a variety of sports. I love the rocks surrounding the water each time I come to visit. They make you feel alone but more in touch with the world because of the closeness to the water. read more

Edgewater Park is the urban explorers dream. Listen up; since the Cleveland Metroparks took over this land, having an urban park has never been better. Edgewater Park is clean, beautifully maintained and programmed with awesome outdoor events like Edgewater Live, stand-up paddle boarding and other sports. But the best part of Edgewater Park is the utilization of the lakefront and the running/walking paths. The walking paths are hilly and give you great views of the surrounding area. But if you're not into the sometimes crowded walking paths, wear sturdy tennis shoes and take the time to explore the rocky, off-the-beaten paths that lead down to the water (pictured below). These are my favorite places to enjoy a beautiful view of Cleveland from an eccentric vantage point. The Honey Hut ice cream shop is also a cute addition to the park if you have little ones in tow. If possible, try to park near the pier. The pier is the central location to everything from the running paths to the beach, and is an easy meet-up spot to centralize your friends. We are so lucky to have this beautiful park right against our very own great lake... so in the words of the Metroparks, go outside and play! read more

We visited the park twice while in Cleveland. The weekend we were there, there was a race going on and it was very crowded. The water and beach were ok for a lake beach, but nothing to be excited about. The Cleveland script sign was a great backdrop for photos. It was a nice area to hang out in, but not the top destination I would pick to visit when not from the area. read more

This place is amazing! I came here when I first moved to CLE and appreciated the view of the skyline from the west side of the city. After that I didn't make much of an effort to come here and then moved away. Now that I'm back (semi-temporarily), one of the first things I wanted to do was visit Edgewater park. I didn't have a good reason, just that good memory of my first time in the city and wanting to recapture a sense of novelty. One of the last days of Indian Summer this past week was the perfect opportunity to go back. I got out of work in the afternoon and immediately made the trek down to the park. It was a perfect fall day, verging on summer temperatures, and an amazing day to appreciate both nature and the city all at the same time. The lake was a sapphire blue, sailboats dotted the horizon, and the gulls kept their distance so I avoided getting bombed. I almost felt like I was at the ocean, and since I love the waterfront, I was one happy camper. Be sure your next visit to CLE includes a trip to Edgewater Park, especially if it's a nice day. It's a great treat on the waterfront and one not to be missed if you have the chance! read more

It's not the busiest part of the season, yet--but I will say I can already see a major beginning-of-the-season improvement from last year. Thank you, Metroparks! The beaches are fully raked and there aren't nearly as many gross parts. I'd say that's enough to be happier. But let's just see how the water quality is once we really get into summer. I was in town for business and had some time to kill so I found myself at Edgewater Park. When I think of Cleveland, I don't think of a beach, but this is exactly what it is. There is even a little shack to get tackle equipment, snacks and ice cream and a pier to go fishing. It's a beautiful little park. I didn't go to the 'beach' area but it looked very popular. I enjoyed a little stroll on the pier and sat down to take in the pure beauty of nature. Wind whipping my cheeks and hair, the clashing of water along the rocks, sea gulls squawking, the dull chatter of fishermen. Peaceful. Beautiful. There are also some lighthouses off in the distance I wanted to check out so I asked a local (owner of the snack shack) and she directed me to Wendy Park. You can only access the lighthouses by boat but this does get you much closer. The park is kind of hard to find as the road leading into it looks more like you're going in the back way of a factory, but it was such a great place to visit. Instead of turning into Edgewater Park, turn right and follow the road toward Whiskey Island. Keep to the right and the road is parallel to railroad tracks. At the end you will see a sign that says no motor vehicles and a small, gravel parking lot. Park there and even though it looks kind of iffy, it's ok, just walk a little way down to the riverfront. There weren't a lot of people here. It is a little buggy. There's trash in the water. But it was a nice place to see the skyline, big industrial boats, do some fishing and visit the old Coast Guard building. read more

Edgewater park is an absolute must if you are in Cleveland, whether you are local or a visitor. This is a popular destination that showcases Cleveland's Lake Erie waterfront. There is a fishing pier, paved trails for jogging and biking, a beach area with strict lifeguards, and many rocks to hang out on. There are rocks that go out into the water that were fun to climb on before the lifeguards started to yell at anyone who tried. They blow their whistles non stop for any reason anymore. I'm in the minority when I say I liked the park better before the metro parks took over and before they added that ugly new beach house. The beach wasn't as groomed, but the freedom that came with a little less restriction was worth it to me. I miss the humble snack bar they used to have. Now, you can buy beer at the new one, so that definitely draws people in but they didn't really need to. It's a really nice place to hang out though. Any season, not just summer. You might have a hard time finding a parking spot in the warmer months. read more

This place has gone to pot - literally. I hadn't been to Edgewater during the summer since the summer before last, courtesy of the pandemic, but I wanted to get some of my engagement pictures taken here since I was sure the shoreline at sunset would be just perfect. Well, the sunset *was* perfect, but everything else about this place has become disgusting. The entire place stank like pot, and it wasn't hard to see why judging by how may potheads were walking around. The bathrooms were overflowing with waste; even the sinks were so nasty I didn't want to use them. There was garbage everywhere. "Parents" were screaming obscenities at their kids that would make a sailor blush. I don't know how to explain such a radical change, but it's terribly disappointing. Edgewater has become the sort of place that I wouldn't want my fiancee going alone. read more

Great new beach house. Pretty much everything about Edgewater Park is awesome, but I have two major complaints... 1. I think they bought really cheap sand this year, and its a dark sand. Never have I been to a beach where your feet burn instantly and it was only 90 degrees out. It was unbearable to walk in without sandals. 2. Swimming was limited to about 3 feet depth of water and there were hundreds of people in a very small area. You could only go so deep, and it was kind like swimming in a cesspool. read more

As a native Clevelander this Cleveland landmark is a harbor for so many great memories for me, as I'm sure it is for many. Aside from providing some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets in the region, how many of us can remember growing up and ending up here after a long night out in the flats or at a house party, planning a clandestine trip there for a special date, having deep philosophical discussions with friends after sharing one of the ups or downs of life, cooking out with the family, catching a free peek of the Cleveland Air Show...the list goes on and on. So while as far as park beaches go, Edgewater Park isn't technically "as good as it gets," for me it doesn't really get any better. read more

The majority of my Sundays are here, in the Summer anyways. After, Whiskey Island is the destination. This whole Summer I came here to Meditate on the rocks and started up cardio again. Much needed, I felt like" the biggest loser contestant". Weight not involved, just being a slacker (Tech 9ne). I'm feeling 1000% better than I did at the beginning of the Summer. No pain, no gain. Now Summers coming to a slow, but definite end. I went to Edgewater one day this Summer about two weeks ago and there was a mound, about 3-4 ft tall of black.... Something that went on for a good 100 yes along the shore. I never go in the water anyways, so no problem for me, our planet though, no bueno. Furthermore, Cleveland, my city!!!! Anyways, Edgewater holds a special place with my heart. Whiskey Islands attached to it, doesn't hurt. Only adds to the awesomeness of it!!!! read more

I've been here the past few days and honestly, it's dirty this year. In The dog beach portion of the park, we found needles just hanging out in the sand. Crazy right ?? I reported the issue and they just bagged them up. Be careful guys! The more popular areas are alright and I haven't found much trash but last year it was way better. Be safe out there. read more

As a newcomer to Cleveland, I've been to a couple of beaches around Cleveland but this is one of the better ones. A great place for a sunny afternoon in Cleveland. Not only are their volleyball nets, sand, and an ICE CREAM place, but there are some cozy pavilions where you can host parties and picnics. The sand has some rocks/shells near the water so bring so bring some flip flops if you are worried. A great place for kids and adults a like to get some sun. I loved being able to get Ice cream when I got a little bit too hot. My favorite things about this place, the volleyball net (pretty sturdy but you probably have to bring your own lines), ice cream and the soft sand. If you like any of these I would suggest coming here! read more

So Edgewater Beach has really improved in the last few years if you haven't been recently. I suggest making your next beach trip to Edgewater Park beach. And we frequented the park/beach this past summer finding the weather to be extreme with lots of rain and lightning. To our great surprise we found a new architectural structure right out of Restoration Hardware Magazine located right up the beach to take shelter and not only to take shelter but were we able to go to the bar and eat while watching the storm listening to music. They provide clean bathrooms and fireplaces to gaze upon Lake Erie. It was a nice surprise and a lovely time. Will be back. read more
