From the Aldrich Plaza, you will find yourself slipping and sliding towards this ice cream shop…read morewith a lot to offer. Brand: 5/5 Shivers Ice Cream is a family-owned restaurant in operation for 30 years, according to the website. I do like the penguin mascot which perfectly represents the establishment. The slogan "Ice Cream, Cakes, and Fun!" manages to evoke a festive environment that Shivers promises. The shorter the syntax, the more evocative and straight-forward; as any English major would know. I do not know if the canvases of solid colors are meant to represent abstract art, but I can see how it does not conflict with the interior. It does not contrast strongly with the light-colored floor tiles or the walls, but it does not complement them either. The rows of ice cream containers with many flavors entices anyone who looks upon them from behind the glass counter. Website: 3/5 The design of the website looks to have an outdated theme. Also, while it does offer a view of the various cakes with unique designs, it does not have a section dedicated to flavors, despite claiming to offer 30 distinct flavors. Nonetheless, I appreciate the cool blue color that serves as the thematic color of Shivers Ice Cream. Ambiance: 5/5 As expected, the interior felt cold, but not too cold that I wanted to leave immediately. The pop music playing over the radio gave the Shivers Ice Cream establishment a pleasant yet upbeat vibe. While it is a small establishment, it did suit us enough, with its tables having the appropriate width and the chairs not having an uncomfortable feel. Service: 5/5 The staff provided decent service. There is a tip jar for college funds, and I appreciate the transparency of where the money goes. Wait Time: 5/5 Our orders came immediately. Food: 5/5 I ordered the small Snix milkshake. As you can expect, it blends milk, ice cream, and Snickers bits into a milkshake. I can definitely taste the chocolate, caramel, and peanuts that typically come with Snickers. The shake had a well-blended consistency of well-preserved ice cream, which melted easily with every sip. It achieves that creamy texture especially at the top. Worth The Money?: 4/5 While the website does offer a view of the products they have, I would like to see what flavors they can showcase on their website. For an ice cream shop with so much personality, I do not even know what their signature dish is. Perhaps it could be in the form of a new flavor, a milkshake, or an ice cream cookie. The penguin mascot reflects off the chilliness of the establishment and the menu items. I am sure that Coldrich the Penguin (as I would call him as a portmanteau of "cold" and "Aldrich [Plaza]") has a future with this establishment. I would say that I did not waste my time coming here. The price for a small milkshake would have been the same at Dairy Queen, but considering this is a local establishment, I will say that the price is ultimately worth it, though as a second choice (indeed, I would choose Shivers as a first choice if I ever come to Aldrich Plaza again if it is the only ice cream shop there). Rating: 5/5 Stars When it comes to choosing between 4 or 5 stars, I see too much potential in this ice cream shop to give it 4 stars. Recommend To... Anyone who already had something to eat for lunch or dinner in the other local eateries in Aldrich Plaza and want dessert. I also recommend Shivers Ice Cream for the summer for a birthday celebration.

We started an order of Mussels with a lime and cilantro sauce, Shrimp Torte (artichoke hearts, sundried tomatoes, shitake mushrooms, capers and green olives - in a white wine sauce topped with feta cheese), along with Octopus. Everything was terrific! Entrees consisted of a huge Cioppino consisting of shrimp, mussels, clams, wild cod, escargot, octopus and crab legs in a shrimp tarragon sauce over spanish risotto - way too big to finish! Branzino with oven roasted tomatoes over yellow corn risotto. Pistacio encrusted wild salmon with fingerling potatoes and butternut squash. Chargrilled Rack of Lamb with Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes. To finish off a terrific dinner we ordered the Bourbon Chocolate Pecan Torte, Hazelnut Baclava and Banana Foster. As a remeinder, Lemon is BYOB.

Bread basket: Pita with hummus Appetizer: Octopus Entree: Lamb tagine & char grilled rack of lamb Dessert: Creme brulee & Mango panna cotta Coffee: Moroccan coffee This is not your traditional Mediterranean fare but the flavors hit all the right spots. Octopus was grilled to perfection as were the lamb dishes. Our server brought a fresh basket of warm pita for the tagine and that was much appreciated. The only issue we had was that the hummus was a bit on the tangy side and slightly runny. Desserts and Moroccan coffee were the perfect end to our meal. Big thank you to Chef Ash for the absolutely delicious mango panna cotta.

Hubs and I were looking for a place to eat in the Jackson area and were originally going to go to…read morethe Jackson Diner. I saw this place and told him that I always wanted to give this place a try. Kalamata has both a restaurant and pizza place and we opted for the latter. This place also serves sushi as well. The windows were covered up so you can't see the interior but I knew it was a pizza joint. We ordered and shared the following: Eggplant parm pizza- when we got it , Hubs asked if we had the wrong pizza. This didn't look like the usual eggplant parm pizza. It was tiny pieces of eggplant and not like chunks of it. The pizza also had pesto spiral swirled around. It was a nice surprise. Hubs thought the pesto spiral was a nice touch. The pieces of eggplant was very flavorful. The sauce was very flavorful and the pizza crust was nice and soft but crispy enough on the bottom. Shakshuka- this came with 3 eggs. We thought this order was delicious. It came with a few slices of bread but it wasn't enough to sop up the sauce. Hubs brought it home to put it on top of his ramen. LOL. We also took home the tomatoes and cucumbers that came along with it as well. This place is a pleasant surprise. There were a lot of flies flying around the pizzas, but we were surprised that the flies didn't come towards us when we were eating. We were glad to not end up at the Jackson Diner. Will return to try other items on the menu.
