    Oreo donut and chocolate sprinkle
    Mel K.

I been wanting to try this donut it shop for a while as I found it on Yelp and saw it had great reviews ! They have a little parking lot which is convenient. We went inside and the lady greeted us she was very nice and quick to make our order although she was only employee there but it's a small little shop , not much to it but it works ! I got a bacon egg and cheese with salt , and ketchup on a rolll! It was very yummy ! I also got two donuts one chocolate frosted with sprinkles and one Oreo topping donut ! I honestly didn't care that much for the donuts , just not as fresh as I was hoping for , kind hard and dry inside. The icing and sprinkles were good though ! The prices were fair !

Perfect classic donut. Not a designer donut with 8 different frostings covered in fruity pebbles. The service is great they know your name after a wile even your order. The layout is quick simple to the point and classic. No fuss hand made signs hand made donuts made by real people

Pictured is Village Donut Shop, a tiny store on a country road in Jackson, N.J. I've driven by it a few times but haven't stopped in until this past week. The name rang a bell and it occurred to me that this spot which can fit two, at the most three customers inside, was recently reviewed by Robyn Lane of WRAT 95.9 FM and Peter Genovese of nj.com. I stopped in earlier in the week for a breakfast sandwich and some donuts. Both were so good that I returned twice more. Previously I would go to Obco's in Toms River for donuts. They have a reputation as one of the finest donut shops in the state. I was surprised to find that I preferred the donuts at the Village Donut Shop. These are next level and the finest donuts I've ever had. So far I've had crullers, glazed, jelly, and something called chop suey which is a glazed donut with raisins, walnuts, apple, and cinnamon. But it doesn't stop there. I follow a guy who reviews Taylor ham/pork roll sandwiches. He rated the sandwich at Village Donuts as one of the best giving it a 9.2. I had it as well as a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. Both were the best I've had. The owner, who does all the cooking, bakes his own rolls. The eggs are fresh and cooked perfectly. Called "live" by the reviewer. Cheese was nicely melted and balanced with the quality bacon and pork roll (Trenton brand). I was so impressed with this place that I decided to post about it here. Definitely a destination spot both for donuts and breakfast sandwiches.

Not gonna lie, I read the reviews and I'm gonna lay it out right now-- I sat in my car for 10 minutes before this 4' 9"Redhead mustered up enough nerve to walk into that Donut shop front door and place my order- and I ain't scared of anything- but I wanted those donut's in the worst way. Yes- The owner is a man of few words, but with the donuts this mighty man cranks out of his kitchen, I couldn't care less, if he didn't say anything at all or if he could literally recite War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy per verbatim and I would listen to every word- if it will get me these donuts!! BECAUSE these donuts are magical and I want them- I am not sure, what the secret recipe is, honestly, I don't really need to know... what I do need, are these donuts every weekend with my coffee, THATS WHAT I NEED!! okay, maybe not a full dozen each weekend, maybe just a half a dozen, but ya catch my drift??!! The cinnamon roll was fluffy, cinnamonyyyy and heavenly, the Boston Creme fantastic the best I've ever had!, The Glazed and the Jelly Donut was oh so good and the chocolate with sprinkles... come onnnnnnn!!!! but the maple with bacon---stoppppp ittttttt oh holy moly!! heaven... I literally had no idea what a Chop Suey donut was but I bought one for my hubby and he 'bout fell over when he took the first bite!! ya that good!!! SOOOOOOOO... This shop is not trendy, fancy, or got donuts with mile high stuff plastered on them, hell it's cashhh only.. but, what it is though (whispers) "is a damn good donut shop, with an owner that cares about his product and doesn't feel the need to conform or compromise, he has an honest following of customers that appreciate his dedication and love his food". 1. Did I have to get up at the A**crack of dawn-- yes, yes I did (And anyone who knows me, will attest that I am NOT a morning person) 2. Did I have to have these donuts--- yes, yes I did (I have no regrets or shame over this at all) 3. Do I feel the need to do 1 & 2 again-- yes, yes I do (I will be a frequent flyer of this donut shop) Did I pay more for my dozen donuts here, than I do at the Double D- Yes I did and I will do it again at least 100 times more... the quality was a million times better, they are deeelicious- I am now spoiled.. and won't cheat on my Donut Man!! Darn you donut man-- I wuv you for your donuts!! Oh --did I mention he has pork roll, egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches?! BEST DONUTS EVER!

Oreo, Coconut Custard, Honey Glazed, Sugar Jelly
    Dan M.

This was a little shack looking spot with tables outside to eat, but nothing available inside. They had breakfast sandwiches and donuts available. The staff was pleasant while we placed our order. They also did not take credit or debit cards. 4 donuts were ordered ($7.50). Honey Glazed - This was definitely my favorite. The donut was light, and the glaze flavor made for a pleasant donut. Sugar Jelly - My complaint about this was the jelly, not the best quality, but the donut as a whole dusted with sugar was great. Oreo - This was my least favorite. This appeared to be sitting there awhile as it was a little hard. Coconut Custard - This was surprisingly good. I am not a big fan of coconut, but the coconut shavings and the custard filling made for an ideal combination. Will I go back? I would.

Have been wanting to try this shop for awhile & was up early today so gave it a shot. Have to say donuts that I tried were awesome. The young lady at the counter was very pleasant. Shop is tiny & hours are limited but if in the area really recommend. Btw it is cash only.

Ask the Community - Village Donut Shop

    Is Village Donut, cash only?

It is cash only but depending on what you look like or how boss man is feeling. That Will decide how much you pay. Payed two different prices both times I went. My wife gets a cheaper price when she goes in.

Here in Lakewood Township, you will find this bakery in the Goldmont Center…read more Brand: 5/5 Hershy's Bakery is located in the Goldmont Center in Lakewood Township as a corner store. I do like the logo, for it uses as much of its simplicity as possible while maintaining a fancy posture. The sign has a noticeable presence in this shopping center as you walk around. Concerning the interior, I will say that the food itself adds to the brand. Website: 2/5 While the website does look decent, it is incomplete, therefore I cannot give it a favorable score. I do see the potential in terms of functionality and aesthetics, but the entire website contains sample text. It does have the vital information, such as contact information. It does say that it serves babka, peanut chew, cakes, and pastries, but it does not provide you with images of these products. Wait Time: 5/5 I did not have to wait for long to purchase my order. Ambiance: 3/5 On the outside, I could see this large corner store in the Goldmont Center that I could clearly imagine catering to many customers. Once I stepped inside, the ambiance felt quite underwhelming. I did not expect to find a small bakery with some of the goods still stacked in some of the noticeable racks, and no tables. Another problem was the lack of labels in the glass counters. It does maintain its cleanliness though. Food: 5/5 I tried four cinnamon rugelachs, and I will say that it was my satisfactory introduction to rugelachs. It had a more cinnamon taste and less bread taste, which helps balances these pastries. The establishment served baskets of rugelach in the open, and I will say that even then, they did not become hard or stale. They retained their fluffy forms and their cinnamon tastes. The website provides some of the menu items, while the Yelp menu has all the options available to you, such as challah bread, danishes, cookies, cakes, and donuts. Service: 5/5 The owner did not have an issue with informing you if you looking for a particular pastry. Worth The Money?: 3/5 The food reflects the brand in all its simplicity, for you will find many Jewish delicacies in this establishment. While it would help Hershy's Bakery's website to show specific images of the food, if I am to believe the awards cataloged in the About Us page, then it would help develop its credibility if ownership updated the entire website. Indeed, the font and the images already on the website already add to its ambiance. I will say that the food does add to the ambiance of the bakery. I would recommend adding labels to the foods. The ambiance made both the wait time and service tolerable. Would I say that Hershy's Bakery is worth it as a small business? Yes. As a place to frequent despite not being from Lakewood Township? Probably not. I can only consider this establishment a choice if I was traveling through Lakewood and happened upon the Goldmont Center. I will say that the owner did balance my order on a weight scale, giving it a fair price. So, I cannot complain. Rating: 4/5 Stars Needless to say, I will say that Hershy's Bakery is quite a good establishment overall. I got to introduce myself to rugelachs despite the limitations. Recommend To... Any other Gentiles who want to try kosher delicacies but do not know where to start, or are hesitate to bake them yourselves. I will tell you that Hershy's Bakery offers you a glimpse into Jewish cuisine with a fresh basket of rugelachs.

I did not notice until after I left the store. When calling the store I was met with the worst customer service I've ever encountered. I was put on hold and disconnected. I had to explain the story several times and transfered to several people. I was on hold over 20 minutes . No one would give their name. One woman when asked "Who am I speaking too?" Would only say "Customer service ". She eventually transferred me to a manager who was so rude I don't think I can even explain it clearly enough in this . First he tried to say "HOW DO YOU KNOW THE PRICE WAS WRONG?!" in a very agressive tone. He then put me back on hold to check the price then came back and blamed me for ringing it wrong myself because we went to self check out. When I explained I could not have rang in it twice as he claimed because there were 3 items in one deli container...I swiped it once and all 3 rang up individually with that swip...If I would have double swipped they all would have shown being rang in twice but that's not what happened. The item I was double charged for (which there were 2 of) rang up two times but at twice the price they should have been. For some reason he just wanted to blame me for the mistake. So I got annoyed by this and asked "Why is it so important to you to blame me.? Why can't you just except your employee tagged it wrong and refund me my money? " He insisted because it was my fault and I should be more careful! He did refund the money (after I said I would contact my credit card company) but insisted on continuing to say it was my fault. I asked his name and his response was " I'm not going to tell you!" .i don't care if they had the only food available in the stae...I WILL NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN! We could have looked past that because it was so flaky, but upon biting into it, we both looked at each other and wondered how something could be so flaky, yet incredibly chewy. (I suspect this may be a way to keep people from just wandering to other areas, but the Emery's folks are just so plain nice that you can't refuse to take their offer of a ride.)
