Love the energy of this bar. They always have good music-either jukebox or Dj. We were there Saturday night and the DJ was awesome. They have a great late night food menu. It is a larger bar with lots of space, so you don't feel the crowd as much when it does get more crowded. The bartenders were all very nice and quick when waiting on everyone. read more

One of the worst restaurant experiences I had recently. Stopped here on the way home from Buffalo because we didn't want fast food. What we got instead was SLOW food. We got there at 8:30 pm and were the only table in the restaurant eating, everyone else was at the bar. Service was slow and the food - for 3 people - took an hour to get. Once we got the food, it wasn't good either. I had a burger which was ok, it was overdone and the sweet potato fries I got were also overdone. My sister got a chicken wrap which was a chicken patty cut up inside the wrap. None of us finished our meals and it was unfortunately a waste of time and money. read more

Had their roasted red pepper & smoked Gouda soup. It is a standard on the menu. I wasn't really expecting it to be tomato soup with little chunks of gouda cheese in it. I didn't really enjoy it, but that's likely because I'm not a big tomato soup fan. It just didn't sound like tomato soup from the name. I also had the beef stroganoff dinner. Disappointed in that as well. Since there really wasn't that much beef, and the beef that was there was pretty tough. Probably would not try that again. I have been working on a feature film in Erie County over the past two weeks, and still have one more week to go, and we have had our catering done by Chef Darrell of Sneaky Pete's in conjunction with Patrick at the Edinboro Hotel. The food we have eaten has all been first class, delicious, and incredibly presented. The foodie in me has totally been satisfied, and everyone on the cast and crew all raves about how great everything has been. Thanks to Chef and Patrick, and all the rest of the staff for the most wonderful eats . . . BIG CHEERS! P.S. We also went on location inside the hotel bar, for one of the scenes of our movie, and we also had a party there for investors and friends of the film, and the food, once again was top-notch, and we stayed after wrapping for more food and drinks, and everyone enjoyed the environment, and the bar food also. I don't travel to Edinboro more than twice every decade, but every time I find time to go to the Hotel Bar. It's always more modernized than the last time I visit, which is great because that's what good businesses do, but what always stays the same is as soon as I walk in, Pat the owner always smiles and waves and I get a good handshake (or fist bump if he's busy), and he remembers my name. That goes a long way with me and you won't see that type of welcome in Vegas. I always get wings, and they never disappoint. Good taps and they know how to pour a Guinness pint correctly. I don't go for mixed drinks, but never had a bad beer and I don't need to make an extra trip to the ATM (or I guess MAC machine) because everything is reasonably priced. When reading some reviews, if college is in session and it's Friday or Saturday night... well yeah, it's going to be busy, with music and a lot of people. I get it, it can be hard to bring a family of 6 in for a sit down fish fry, sure. They also show lots of sports, because people love a variety of sports...what were some reviewers expecting...CSPAN? Very nice upgrade to the restrooms. Can't wait to see what's new with the Hotel Bar the next time I'm back in the Boro. read more

I am sorry for the long post, but I want to provide as much detail so people can make up their own minds about the rating and whether it is accurate. We went on "Pasta bar" night, which is the 2nd Tuesday of each month. We are not from Edinboro and were visiting family. When we went in, the place was packed and we mentioned to the hostess that we would just go somewhere else as we didn't have time to wait. She asked if we were getting the Pasta Bar or ordering from the menu. We said "menu", to which she said it should be faster because of the long line at the pasta bar. We were seating in a few minutes and we placed our order minutes later. Everything was good at this point. We ordered 3 appetizers (party of 5 including one small child) and dinner. When we sat down, it was 6:35 (I know as I was watching the Pens pre-game on TV). From the time we ordered and our appetizers came, it was 1 hour later. We rarely saw our waitress and people were coming and going from the pasta bar. When we finally got our appetizers, we asked how long it would be until our food came out and she said it shouldn't be long. She did mention that they are very busy on pasta bar nights and that usually pushes things back. My question is: If that is the case, why did the hostess tell us it would be faster since we were ordering from the menu? Finally, at 7:53 (1st period of Pens game was over) and the pasta bar was now closed, we told the waitress it had almost been 1 1/2 hours and if our food was not out by 8, we would like to pay for what we ate and leave. She mentioned that she would check on our food. She came back a few moments later and was very salty with us as if we were the problem. She said "It will be done in 3 minutes. Do you want it to go or on a plate?" We said if it will be done, we will take it on a plate. She then commented and said "Had I known you were in a hurry, I would have put in the meals together with the appetizers." We didn't feel like 1.5 hours of waiting for a meal was "in a hurry". When she came back with our food, she asked if we needed anything else. Within the next 5 minutes, 3 more waitresses came to our table to ask the same thing. Apparently, that was because our waitress was done with us and didn't want to wait on us any more. The new waitress then told us that the owner was taking off the drinks and appetizers as a result of the long wait. While that was nice and appreciated, I was more curious why the owner didn't come over himself to say that or even to apologize. I would think that he would want to save face for the restaurant and try to salvage a bad situation. We paid our bill and left very disappointed and disgruntled with our experience. I write this with the following in mind: I didn't think the food was that bad. That is the reason for the 2 stars. That was for the food. I thought it was fine and tasted decent. My issue was with the service and the lack of concern by the owner/manager when something went wrong. While we didn't blame the waitress for the delay, we were disappointed also when she stopped serving us because we didn't think she was doing a bad job to that point. read more

I made reservations for a Friday night for 13. They were very prepared. Our server Ailise was remarkable. She served all of us quickly always with a smile. The drinks were served fast and our food was very good. Some of our group has never been there and was impressed and said they would come again. I live in Edinboro and love to eat locally. I stood at the bar once waiting 20 minutes for a glass of water. It got to the point where I was willing to go drink out of the sink. They have one male employee who is the rudest man I have ever dealt with in any bar I've been to. I understand that he hates college students, but when someone is clearly in need of water because your establishment gets very hot On any given Friday night during the semester (which I've bartended. I think the TIPS certification kind of demands that you take care of such customers first) you don't ignore them because you're not going to get a tip from it. I've never had a good experience here. The renovations are nice but the employees (other than Lerisa) are the rudest employees you'll find in Edinboro. read more

My only experience with this place is at night and drinking. My friends were just in love with this place due to the DJ, dance floor and pool tables. Despite the higher cost of the drinks and lack of quantity you get, you really don't get what you pay for (drinks portions are significantly smaller than the norm, especially if the drink is a "special"). I have never tried their food, because just looking at the place, I don't think I would care to. Most of the time (when college is out) the place isn't too bad, not that crowded and generally pleasant (if not a little dingy). The problem is when school is in, this place is packed! Way over what the fire code states as maximum occupancy (seriously does anyone enforce this?!), it takes forever to even make it to the bar to order and when you do the bartenders are either: inexperienced, overwhelmed, understaffed, or indifferent or a combination of all three. By the time you get your drink (you usually ordering for the group) and get turned around, you have to make your way through the overcrowded place just to make it back to your group. If you think you can get a seat at a table or bar on a Friday or Sat night, forget about it. Unless your group was there early enough and staked out a spot, you will be lucky to be able to sit. DO NOT OPEN A TAB! The last time I went, I had a bartender give herself a 50.00 dollar tip! I ordered 4 drinks and left a five dollar CASH tip. I was in no way drunk and knew I had not done this. Upon discovering this, enraged I went back to the place as soon as it had opened. I spoke with the owner "Pat" I believe his name is and explained the situation. Without going into the particulars of the conversation, he said he would not reimburse me or cancel the transaction, (even though if he were to cancel it, I would repay for my drinks the night before). Wow was I steamed, because he started "posturing", but I kept my cool and left. Walked across the street to my bank, explained the situation and had the transaction canceled. Since the above instance I have not been back and never will be. It is not good business to short your customers and then rip them off on a tab. read more

Decided to get a bite and a drink (What a mistake) as soon I walked in the door a young child of a man yelled from behind the bar you need your mask all the way on your face to come in . A young women came over and took our drink order and gave us menu's she informed up that captain mixed drinks are on special for two dollars. My wife and i got the special with coke the bartender gave us our drinks and replied $8 dollars I smiled and said you just told me $2 each she then stated ohh that dosen't start for another 20 minutes ok I said and paid her . I saw the young man that yelled at me when I walked in came over to us and stated .. Are We Going To Have A Problem Here !! I'm torn on this one. The Hotel offers great food during the day (LOVE the monthly pasta bar...it's Amazing and the chef is great and entertaining), but is a party scene at night. If you're a partier and want to feel like you might get groped or want to go home with someone, this is the place for you. Every time I've been there I've stood at the bar waiting for drinks, money in hand, while frat boys are pushing people aside, yelling and getting served first. I don't feel like the bartenders get to know patrons or even really make eye contact (maybe because it's always SO busy in there) and the drinks are kinda weak. This is one of the only places to dance in Edinboro if that's your thing, although I've heard Willie's is opening up a new dance area. read more

As locals, my wife and I have tried every restaurant/bar in the area, most of them several times. The food at The Hotel is reliably the best in Edinboro. They offer steak, fish, salads, a variety of burgers and sandwiches, pizza, a great selection of appetizers, and my favorite, chicken wings. We eat here at least twice a month and we are never disappointed. We don't usually eat later in the evening, so I can't speak to the crowds on weekend evenings while college students are in town. However, I find it hard to see a problem if a restaurant is consistently busy! This is not a five star restaurant, but if you want a family-friendly place with a variety of good food at a good price, you should consider The Hotel. read more
