He added new lighting and outlets in my dingy laundry room, so I can actually see what I'm doing now. He changed out some lights in my kitchen. And put in new outdoor outlets. They had a decent advertised special so I called them for an estimate. They wanted $80 to bid the job so I passed, doing bids is part of the cost of doing business and I refuse to work with companies that charge. I went with Edison because of the good reviews. Joe was fine--the work was quality, I'm sure, and he was both friendly and thorough. There was no up front quote prior to the service fee being charged, and while I expected I might pay a premium, it would up being over 50% more than another quote I got. I would consider the company itself to be opportunistic and somewhat manipulative. The service fee does not roll into the project itself as it would at a mechanic, but does make you feel committed to them. That fee includes a whole house eval, which was then used to try to sell me every kind of upgrade possible. Since I paid the fee, I used the opportunity to ask about some electrical codes for things I'm considering doing myself, and there was no hesitation to price it out for me in case I wanted the work done. When it came time to present the potential options, they were presented as financing options--definitely a sales tactic to get me to commit to spending on these extras projects, which would have been triple the cost of the one thing I called them for. My idea of a good contractor is one that presents options with honesty and warns me when something is a problem, and this was opportunistic. I'd look elsewhere. read more

Joe was able to come out a few days earlier which was great! He was very friendly and professional and didn't pressure any sale or at anytime make me feel as though I were talking with a salesman trying to talk me into extra stuff. He was kind enough to give me info on things to be a bit more knowledgeable such as preventing me continuing to buy a bulb that's not likely to do well in an enclosed light cause it'll overheat (had no idea). I only got pricing on things if I cared to have it and it went real easy. Overall a really nice experience and we'd be happy to go with them again next time. read more

I checked out a few places for an issue with a tripping breaker in our home. Edison had the lowest initial visit fee and good reviews, so I decided to go with them. They were also able to get us on the schedule the next day - other places had indicated they were booked out several weeks. Jake and his associate came by at the time promised and were very respectful and direct with us that the issue we were having was not going to be easy to diagnose and it was likely going to be expensive. We didn't really have a choice because our breaker was tripping in a home office where we needed the ability to run a computer, monitors, lights, etc. They laid out all our options and recommended the one that they thought made the most sense. They began digging into our issue and found it very quickly, which saved us a considerable amount of money. At the end of the day, we felt like they did not try to oversell or do work that was not required, and they also gave us some recommendations for additional work that could be done when we were ready. We called Edison Electric and they came out within a few days. They were very thorough on what our options were to remove Electrical Wiring from our Fence. They also did a walk through of the home and offered an estimate on other services we may want in the future. In addition, they put up with my dog barking too much and petted her to ensure she knew they were Pet Friendly. Fortunately we had this done because the follow week, a storm hit and a huge branch crashed into part of our fence. If we wouldn't have had them remove the faulty Electric on the Fence, it could have been drastically dangerous. read more

I contacted Ryan @ Edison Electric through a recommendation of another contractor I work with my business networking group. Within just a few days, one of his electrician's named Dyle was able to get out to my home, giving me a courtesy call beforehand to let me know he was on his way. He was very professional and took time to understand the issues and troubleshoot the 2 separate power losses we had been dealing with for several months in our home. As he delved further into the inspection, he was able to establish what likely were the issues in both cases (The 1st being moisture outside through an outlet, combined with a cracked couple of outlets on the exterior. The 2nd being a broken circuit in our kitchen from a couple of failed GFI's). He presented me up front with a price for all repairs on his tablet display and stated that he could get the work done right now, because he had all the parts in his van. After approval - within a couple hours of multiple outlet replacements with new GFI's, protective covers installed around them on the exterior and sealing for moisture, the work was complete and all areas were working properly. It honestly wasn't cheap, costing over $800 in the end. However for all that was done and having worked in the trades myself for many years, I feel that the quality and expedited work was certainly worth the cost. I appreciated the convenience of being able to pay by card at the end as well, instead of by cash or check. I received follow up emails and contact to ensure that things were working well and to establish my satisfaction in the work. Overall this company and their contractors are very professional and I would highly recommend them to others. I will be using Edison Electric for any future electrical related needs I may have! read more

We ran into an electrical issue when a "simple" project went array. We called Edison Electric on a Sunday morning and had a very helpful, knowledgeable electrician here within an hour. Unfortunately, he couldn't solve the problem that day because Xcel Energy couldn't come out to the property until Monday to unlock the electrical meter. He scheduled a time for Xcel to come on Monday, kept in contact with them on Monday, and then came out during after-hours on Monday to complete the inside work. He did an exceptional job communicating and fixing the issue. He even did some extra research on Sunday and offered us some extra advice on Monday on how to deal w/ copper & aluminum wiring. Called on a Sunday expecting to leave a voicemail for Monday service, and actually got a live human on the phone, who offered to come out RIGHT AWAY! Very professional, courteous, non-intimidating individual (says the woman who's home alone while her husband serves in Afghanistan); he gave thorough estimates before any work was done, and tackled several complicated problems in an old house with atrocious wiring. He must have worked through his lunch as well, because he was here from 10 until almost 2. Not the cheapest out there, but prices are absolutely reasonable and you can alway bail if you don't like the estimate. For me, it's well worth the price to have someone come out immediately, not make me nervous in my own home, and fix major electrical problems for me. Thank you Edison, I'll be back. I had an amazing experience with Edison Electric. Upon coming out (on time, I might add) Dyle efficiently determined different options for what would be appropriate for the electrical needs of my home, listing the pros and cons of each option. After deciding which way to go, he began working immediately to get the project done the same day. His work was meticulous. I was so impressed with how cleanly he worked too (always wearing booties over shoes inside, vacuuming every inch of the area he worked). I know that area of my home where he worked was cleaner when he left than when he arrived! During Dyle's visit I asked if he could do another project for me. It was a two man job.
