Professor JP was consistently cool. I remember going there my first time with my "Little Ninja" and was greeted by him right away. I didn't commit until 8 months later and again was greeted by Professor JP with a warm welcome. Coach Kim and Coach Felipi were super super nice and patient with the kids. Coach Kim is truly the heart and soul of the Little Ninja program. I really liked how she would start off by "huddling" and getting to know and asking the children of their actives outside of the dojo. They also do a cool meet and greet with new children to the class where all the kiddos would go to the new student and shake their hand. As a spectator I also enjoyed watching the King of the Mat portion of training! The program has numerous activities such as in-house tournaments, belt promotions ceremonies, and holiday parties. The ancillary staff (Coach Gina and Coach Sophia) participated regularly and did an awesome job coaching the children. They too were friendly and were always willing to assist participants and parents with training. I would highly recommend this place for children, especially those who are new to Brizillian Ju Jitsu. read more

We have been taking my daughter to this academy since she was 7 years old she will be 10 next month. I wanted to post an updated review as a parent you ever know when your child will lose interest or get bored. My daughter loves it here. She has competed in all the in house tournaments and a couple of the big ones. She has never let anything or anyone deter her and or how she feels. This academy is most certainly our second home, the coaches, the parents and the other kids make us all feel like extended family. PTT thank you for keeping her focused and interested in this sport that's definitely not for everyone. I have been training here 5 years and obviously enjoy it here. Professor JP looks out for the safety of his students and gives easy to understand and clear instruction and knows the answer to every question you may have. Coach Kim is also an xlnt teacher and is great with the women and kids. Just came for a seminar today, the head coach JP is just such a great instructor, super friendly! All levels were training here, with a great mix of beginners and advanced so anyone would be challenged. Mats were brand new which was a first for me and I've trained in quite a few places. I was having trouble getting my 4 year old into sports activities. He just wasn't into it and it would turn into a tantrum even getting him off the car. Now that he has been going here a few weeks he is just more and more into it and loving it. Coach Kim is really good with the little ones and makes sure they are all included and explains everything really well. It is affordable compared to other places I looked into. I trained at Pacific Top Team for a couple of months. They offered a free 30 day program. I was checking out different schools in the area because I wanted to try and get into some sort of martial art and lose weight. On the surface their school is very friendly with open arms with promises of fitness, family, camaraderie, self-defense, confidence etc... Unfortunately, this school is a CULT! Their cult leader's name is Juan Pablo Garcia (JP) and he demands that you address him as Professor (narcissist). JP's goal I found out quickly is for the commercialization of Jiu Jitsu. He is determined to make as much money as possible off of his students. He executes this plan in many ways, he lures you in with a free 30 day trial to get you hooked on the idea that you are an awesome person, you have talent you were meant to do this sport. There is nothing wrong with being a positive person but when your goal is to rip people off financially then you become a snake oil salesman or a charlatan. His approach to getting more money out of his students comes in multi-pronged approach. He heavily pushes his coach's certification program. You can just be training jiu jitsu for 1 month and he will gladly hit you up to pay him $50 to take a multi day coach's certification course where he teaches you how to teach jiu jitsu to other people and become an assistant coach. It does not matter whether or not you are ready or able to teach jiu jitsu or assist, as long as you have money, he is ready to take it. He constantly asks you to pay more money to enroll in the higher level classes which are more expensive. This takes your tuition from $120 to $180 a month. He wants you to constantly buy his schools rash guards, gis and tshirt so he can make money. I was always being hit up about privates with the coaches or attending a seminar which seems like they had one every month. I heard he will sell you a black belt for a non refundable $5000. Most of the other good schools I looked at they have great instructors who still actively compete, or if they did compete in the past they were world champions with lots of medals or wins on their record. I looked up JP, he doesn't have anything good. He has a couple of Silver or Bronze medals as a black belt at some smaller tournaments, but that is it. He has no MMA background so he shouldn't be teaching any MMA in his school if he is. If an instructor is going to make you into a world champion, shouldn't he have some experience himself doing that? Or shouldn't some of his students be world champions? I recently heard that one of his top students lost a Super Fight and lost at the largest Jiu Jitsu world championship competition. If this guy is really so great how come his students don't reflect that? There is no such thing as a bad student, only a bad teacher. Positive words and affirmation will only get you so far. You can keep blowing sunshine up people's rear ends only for so long until ultimately the proof is in the pudding. He constantly asks all of his students to put positive reviews of his school on facebook, yelp and google+. He knows that people are always online looking at different schools so in order to grow his school, he is constantly in his students ears to put positive reviews up of his school online in order to grow it. The problem with this is his students easily start to drink his Kool Aid and don't want to upset their instructor because they are eager to be promoted and recognized in the school. To go against JP would be bad and a detriment to their growth in the school, so they gladly abide and write positive reviews about his school to keep him happy, regardless if they are true or not. While I was there I went back and saw lots of pictures of people on their facebook page that don't train there anymore. I started to ask questions to the other students about where all these people disappeared to. It seems as if his school was so great, why do people not stay. The students there told me there were some allegations that JP had an affair with one of his married female coaches who was still training and teaching there. Many students found out about the affair and left the school. I also had heard that one of his other coaches Bryan was having an affair with another married female student and JP ignored the allegations and kicked the husband and kids out of the school but let the wife stay and keep training along with her new boyfriend. These stories are hearsay of course with no real evidence but if any of this is true, JP has no real morals or ethics when it comes to how he interacts with his students and carries himself as a black belt in jiu jitsu. The people currently attending the school and the future students who are looking for a good school deserve to know what I saw in the 2 months I was there. There are so many other schools that you should take a look at first before settling on Pacific Top Team. If you think this review is garbage, visit some other schools. read more

I've been wanting to try BJJ for a while, but I'm really picky on the school. I was looking for great coaches, a women's program, not too big, nice community, and one that is really about the sport, respect and honor and not just kicking butt rawr :) PTT was the answer to my prayer. If you have a confident child between the ages of 4-6, do not bring them here. We brought our daughter to this location for a free "test" session to see if she would "be a good fit". Because our daughter is happy and plays with other kids, she was rejected from this location. Our daughter was crying saying, "I want to learn Jiu jitsu. I want to learn". We had to tell her this location is not good. We will find a good one. This facility only wants depressed robots who follow orders and stay quiet. Since leaving this location we found another jiu jitsu facility. She has been training their and is doing great. We are thrilled we found this other facility and feel sorry for any child being rejected. Avoid this place. read more

We love PTT Corona! This was our first experience with any martial arts. We drove to a few other academies, walked in and walked out. We were recommended by a LEO family to try PTT. The first impression we got just from walking in was how each person respected each other. We were greeted with proper handshakes from each member who walked in. Our boys were greeted by each of the other students who made them feel welcome. The coaches are very patient, positive and make training fun. Our boys 5 and 6 are happy and are showing progress. We are very appreciative of all the hard work and time the coaches put in to training our boys. They are excellent role models. We will be with PTT for a very long time! read more

We were initially happy with the training my daughter received here at EDJ. My daughter decided she wanted to take a break due to her busy school schedule. She finished out the month and it was our impression that would conclude her training and end the billing. Unfortunately we were again charged for the next month. When I approached the owners about a refund they informed me that we were a few days short of the 30-day notice of intent and therefore we would be charged for an entire additional month. So basically $139 towards nothing. Yes my daughter could've trained for an additional month, but we had already made other commitments which prevented her from doing so. I asked the owners as a sign of good faith, if they would please consider a refund due to the disconnect in understanding. The owners basically told me sorry, but no. I understand holding us to the 30 day notice that we signed, but I know they have made exceptions in the past and could've done the same for us. At least informed us at the time my daughter quit of the exact end billing date. Even pro-rating the price would have made us feel a little more at ease with how things ended. You will be fairly happy with the training here, but if ever there is an issue with money, I found them to be very unfair and discourteous. read more

I am someone who trained BJJ quite some years ago and was fortunate enough to start at a great studio. I chose to stop training to devote my time into furthering my education. We've been coming to Jui Jitzu classes for about 4 months and we have been blown away by how wonderful this club is. Coach Kim, Coach Felipe, and all the coaches are amazing with the Tiny Ninjas (3 & 4 year olds) and Little Ninjas (4+). My boys have learned excellent skills in exercise, sparring, as well as character development. They have "mat chats" each week where they discuss healthy and safe habits as well as character buildings skills like honesty and kindness. We are so thankful in their thoughtfulness and proactive approach to teaching the students important life skills as well as making a fun environment. We've enjoyed the activities they e put on like their anniversary party and Easter egg hunts. Easy to understand and they take their time to teach newbies when they have trouble getting it down and the training partners are very helpful aswell. Dope place and most importantly is comfortable.
