    Location of horrible veterinary clinic
    Emma G.

This vet is awful. Where do I begin I brought my cat to get his teeth cleaned and check on any other teeth issues. I was then sent home with antibiotics and told to come back the next day for a teeth cleaning antibiotics were given because an infection was found. So we take him In and he gets the procedure done and were sent home with pain killers. After four days at home and my cat looking and feeling very lethargic but still eating he started to feel like a crinkling paper bag under the skin slowly air was seeping in to trap between his skin causing subcutaneous emphysema. Which intern started to worry me extremely. I called Dr. man and was taken right away to have a look and he then prescribed more pills and an x-ray which did nothing at all and sent home. 24 hours later I called a A different vet for their recommendation or secondary opinion was told to immediately take my cat to emergency and that this was very serious I was given the wrong information and I was miss diagnosed by Dr. Mann. My cat spent the day in emergency and was told that yes his trachea was torn during that initial procedure and that error had now been leaking into his body causing subcutaneous emphysema he is now, at home on extreme pain killers and told to weeks time this will hopefully get better with monitoring his behaviour and hoping he eats and hoping he drinks again. My cat is not like himself anymore. I went to confront this veterinarian clinic talk to Dr. man and he was very rude and determined that this was my fault and none took no blame for them for their actions. I hope this doesn't happen To anyone else I highly recommend never ever take your animals to this vet this that needs to be under scrutiny and seen by the association I will contact and try to have their license looked at. Negligence and non-caring when it came to confronting them about what could possibly have gone wrong. VeryVery angry very very upset and very hurt fur baby! Please do not take your pets here!

Dr. Maan is a great vet that gave my little Luna a great experience. He also keeps reasonable prices which makes the drive worthwhile!

One of our doggies recently has been having seizures, and he was seen by a few vets at the clinic. Dr Gravelings, Dr Armstrong and Dr Kates. They are all outstanding and caring. Especially Dr Kates, she shows a true passion in caring for animals and she was extremely patience and careful when she was examining my dog. She is very knowledgeable, understanding, and informative. She took the time to answer any of the concerns we had. And the way she communicates is non-judgemental and unbiased. We really feel that she has the heart for the animals and she really wants them to do well. We feel blessed to have found such a wonderful vet! And their vet technicians are also amazing. The one we encountered the most is Jennifer. She is very caring and gentle with our doggies. She is very helpful, and when we told her we were not comfortable bringing our doggie to Canada west for the neurology consultation because of the poor comments we saw online, she right away said she can help us forward the referral letter to a hospital of our choice. And the many small things that they have done, it really shows they care. I have seen some have mentioned here about their prices. All I can say is we have been to the metrotown animal hospital and some other animals clinics, and the South Burnaby vet is where we want my doggies to be. They treat everyone and animals with respect and care.

However, after recently attempting to send a demand letter to South Burnaby Veterinary Hospital, a veterinary clinic operated by VetStrategy, the delivery was refused. This was disappointing, as it left us feeling that our concerns were not being acknowledged. It is also important to note that Dr. Crampton has never apologized for the surgical error that led to our dog's injury. In April 2025, we brought our puppy, Lola, to South Burnaby Veterinary Hospital for a routine spay and umbilical hernia repair with Dr. Hannah Crampton. We were advised that both procedures had been completed successfully and paid accordingly. A few months later, Lola became seriously ill and required emergency care. After being referred to Canada West Veterinary Specialists, we were informed that her ureter had been ligated during the spay procedure, resulting in severe kidney damage that required surgical removal of a kidney. We were also advised that her umbilical hernia had not been repaired and still required treatment. We understand that complications can occur in any profession. What matters is how they are addressed. Lola went into surgery as a healthy puppy and now faces lifelong kidney monitoring. We had hoped for a constructive conversation about how to address the situation and support Lola's ongoing care, but unfortunately that has not been our experience.

The extent Dr. Armstrong…read morehas gone instead of an apology and amendment is truly disappointing. -Review: Normally a great vet and I love Dr. Darla. This review is for an exceptional situation with a sub vet. Dr. Darla was on vacation and Dr. Kelly Armstrong took us. I had brought in my two cats more than 2 months prior to our move to Europe to make sure all their vaccine requirements were met. Unfortunately a mistake was made on their part where they missed the rabies vaccine for one of the cats. Dr. Armstrong took 3 full days to fill out the forms, instead of the day of, which I took with understanding. Once I picked up the paperwork and brought them to CFIA, I was surprised to find out that they were filled out wrong. The CFIA doctor called me in more than 4 times to clarify information written in the forms. My older cat's history previous to Dawson Street Vet Clinic wasn't added and indicated on the forms. I had to go back home and hunt down papers I had initially provided when we changed vets. My younger cat's microchip information was entered differently on different forms and had to be corrected. And worst of all my older cat couldn't travel with us because he needed to get the vaccine and wait 21 days within regulations. Consequently I lost my CFIA appointment for the day and had to postpone my flight. Since our older cat wasn't able to travel until he got a vaccine and wait 21 days, I am now force to move to a different continent alone with one of our cats, while my husband waits out the time period. We were forced to pay for 2 ticket changes, the cost of holding our place as my husband waits out the vaccine period and also had paid a few hundred dollars for the paperwork that was riddled with mistakes. I took it in stride and asked to get the missing vaccine appointment; they gave us an appointment 2 days after the incident, with no effort to amend the situation immediately. When I expressed the immense difficulty and loss I experienced due to the many missteps on their part, I was met with disdain and deflection. I was accused by Dr. Armstrong of missing the vaccine myself despite my visits to complete them starting 2 months prior to, and I was accused of not providing the paperwork myself despite having brought in printed forms that they didn't use because they also printed themselves. I was accused of not providing an address in my country of destination despite it having no relevance and having providing it to CFIA at the time of appointment. Dr. Armstrong also accused me of not telling them the country of my transfer flight, which they never asked, despite it also being an EU country and using the same exact form. She never once apologized for any mistakes. Instead she complained about having spent 6 hours on them, as if it was a favour, forgetting that I payed a fee hundred dollars for that service. After these bouts of deflection and counter-accusation and refusals of any attempt at an amendment of my losses, they denied me service for having pointed out all of their mistakes. I understand that they were also stressed about the situation, but their emotional discomfort caused by their own mistake is incomparable to the economic gravity and the extreme distress caused to me and my family by their carelessness. Luckily I found an animal hospital the moment I stepped out of there with my cat who is willing to give him the missing rabies vaccine the same day and they assured me that they have plenty of experience with filling out travel forms. Heading there now, which I wish I had done the day CFIA pointed out al the mistakes. All I can say is wait for Dr. Darla if you must come here. And to avoid working with adults who haven't learned how to apologize in person, amend their mistakes, or have consideration for the difficulties of her clients.

Assumptions about language needs: Dr. Grubac, without ever speaking to us before, asked the vet tech if we needed a translator. 2. Inconsistent diagnoses from Doctors at this clinic. Dr Radnic said our dog is skinny, we need to feel him more. Dr Grubac on the other hand said our dog is too chubby we need to cut down on his food. We went to another clinic for 2nd opinion: The dr. Is very familiar with our dog's breed and assured us his weight is perfect and healthy. 3. Money grab. Our dog vomited three times over two weeks. Based on a single blood test, Dr. Grubac said our dog needed special prescribed food, which had to be purchased from their clinic. 2nd opinion from another clinic: At another clinic, we were told that one blood test alone is insufficient to confirm pancreatitis. A physical exam was conducted, and we were advised to monitor him. Our dog recovered without further issues. 4. Rash diagnosis without examining the dog. Our dog had a deep cut around his dew claw from his weekly hike with his mountain dog crew. ItConcerned, we called Kingsway Vet. Over the phone, the vet tech suggested that the dew claw might need to be amputated without even seeing the dog. Outcome: We went to another emergency clinic, where the vet provided ointment and a bandage. The wound didn't even require stitches. I would never come back to this clinic and would not recommend anyone to.

They butchered my dogs ear and instead of repairing his hematoma with buttons and stitches like I was told it would be, once we had him sedated and I was to leave my dog in their care, they instead chose to suture 12 tubes into his ear damaging perfectly healthy ear tissue and stitching entirely through his cartilage 24 times. Zero informed care and quite frankly, I receive better care and service advising from my mechanic. I was sent home post-op with no pain killers or meds to help my dogs recovery process and within 5 days of his surgery and 1 evening using the no flap wrap they insisted I put him in even with these gross tubes and sutures in place, he got an infection immediately. I was told there was nothing I could buy from them to help his bleeding sutures heal a bit, clearly they are unaware Otizole exists. I was provided the wrong type of medication for the site of his infection (clavaseptin instead of cefaseptin), and ultimately needed to bring my dog to a vet who actually knows what they're doing for surgical procedures and post-op care. After VVH operated on my dog, I called numerous vets in Vancouver/Burnaby area to talk to them about their hematoma repair process and NONE of them supported the procedure of stitching entirely through my dog's ear nor was it advised to have ever sent me home with zero pain meds or anti-inflammatories, or use a no flap wrap (I was told to buy one and put it on my dog immediately after his surgery) My original review was hidden by VVH likely due to the photos I attached with it which is truly comical considering their management noted surgery procedure was validated. Show the photos and full review if that's the case and stop hiding the work you're so clearly proud of and refuse to reimburse me for despite costing me $1600 in a botched hematoma repair PLUS a second surgery which I paid for at a different vet all together, and additional costs for gauze and a no flap wrap which I was told numerous times to buy and keep on my dog for 30 days. I'm lucky my dog didn't die from their malpractice and overall lack of care in our time of need.
