There were multiple issues with this clinic, and we stopped going there around 2022-2023: 1. Assumptions about language needs: Dr. Grubac, without ever speaking to us before, asked the vet tech if we needed a translator. 2. Inconsistent diagnoses from Doctors at this clinic. Dr Radnic said our dog is skinny, we need to feel him more. Dr Grubac on the other hand said our dog is too chubby we need to cut down on his food. We went to another clinic for 2nd opinion: The dr. Is very familiar with our dog's breed and assured us his weight is perfect and healthy. 3. Money grab. Our dog vomited three times over two weeks. Based on a single blood test, Dr. Grubac said our dog needed special prescribed food, which had to be purchased from their clinic. 2nd opinion from another clinic: At another clinic, we were told that one blood test alone is insufficient to confirm pancreatitis. A physical exam was conducted, and we were advised to monitor him. Our dog recovered without further issues. 4. Rash diagnosis without examining the dog. Our dog had a deep cut around his dew claw from his weekly hike with his mountain dog crew. ItConcerned, we called Kingsway Vet. Over the phone, the vet tech suggested that the dew claw might need to be amputated without even seeing the dog. Outcome: We went to another emergency clinic, where the vet provided ointment and a bandage. The wound didn't even require stitches. I would never come back to this clinic and would not recommend anyone to. read more

I have been taking my pug to this clinic for years after having terrible experiences at other clinics. Ruby the potato is always extremely nervous with new people and new places in general, but the staff at this clinic got her comfy and cared for on the first visit, so every time I bring her, she's happy to walk in on her own and stand on the exam table without too much panic. They always touch my heart with the care they give my sensitive little bb, I always leave feeling that both of us are calmed and cared for. Every visit they are very clear about estimated costs, they always prepare me for what the high end might be, and never add on unnecessary stuff, if anything is optional, I always feel that it is clearly explained so I can make the best choice for Rubys health and my wallet. All of the staff are always so wonderful and helpful, and clearly care about all of their patients. I've never had anything close to a bad experience with them. I have brought her for a wide variety of reasons, from regular vaccinations and checkups, to dental work with anaesthesia and everytime it's smooth and we leave better. Our 13 years old Maltese cross was extremely ill, in pain. Dr Radnic diagnosed him with pancreatitis and with the support of the team he took care of him for a few days. Our dog is back to being a silly little member of our family. In case that our doggie will need to see a vet again in the future we will contact Dr Radnic again. Dr. Koit is pleasant and responsive; his fees are reasonable and he's patient centred. I've been taking our girl to see him for several years and now that her age is getting to her, and health have been declining, he's been there to answer questions and give followup calls. On many occasions I've called and expected to be with the receptionist, but after being on a brief hold he's come on the phone to let me know of specialist delays or to go over anything. I've never felt rushed (when she was healthy or now). If you want a good vet with obvious years of experience who will provide best care at reasonable prices he's the doctor to see. read more

Kingsway Vetrinarian Review Alex Matuk If it possible to leave no stars I would do it It has taken over a year of frustration and anger to be calm enough to write this review. I was a loyal customer, client of this clinic for over 20 years before what I am about to tell you happened. I took my dog to get a lump removed and teeth cleaned. This being said, they told me they could do this in one visit. They gave me an estimate, it shocked me, but it costs what it costs, so my first visit was over 600.00, it included the blood work. I was shocked at how much things went up is such a short time, like the blood work went up 5 times of what it was last time. I keep everything related to my dogs, the vaccinations for the dogs went up incredibly. I put my dog in for the surgery and teeth cleaning, that came to and additional 1400.00 plus. I told them I had a cone, but they charged me for one anyway. Now three later the stitches are coming out, we took the cone off and put a onesie on the dog, also the donut. I told the vet what happened. They told me to bring her in, I have pictures of the hole that the stitches came out. They claimed that the dog was licking the stitches, not possible, so the solution here at Kingsway was to staple the dog hole shut without a local. She came back terrified and shaking. So now I spent over 2000.00 and the dog is still not good. Two days after this, I had to take her to Atlas Emergency hospital on Fraser and 41st in Vancouver. They looked at the opening now, it came apart again, they said there were not enough sutures put in and the staples did not hold, also now the tissue around them has died. Now another 1200.00 plus, antibiotics, pain pills, etc to deal with here again, the dog is now well and healthy. Now here is a little back story about the 20 years of visits. I had 2 other dogs before these ones, I had a Presa Canario female given to me along with a yellow American field Labrador. Dr. Koit who ran this Clinic, owned this clinic for over 20 years was the physician who saved this dogs life when she was few days old. Her lungs were full of fluid, she was the size of a large peanut. She grew to the size of 150 pounds of puppy. She loved Dr. koit, when she saw him she would drag me to greet him. He was the only Dr. that could do anything he wanted, she was ok with it. He cared for my dog from 2004 to 2015, this is when he had to put here down because she had lung cancer, he had tears doing it. It was a hard thing to do. Dr. Koit looked after my other Lab dog, also the one that had the surgery here before he sold his Practice. Now he spayed both of my dogs and also spayed the new dogs I have now, it was a small procedure, not expensive, for the two new dogs it was under 300.00 to do the surgery for both in 2017. Now today to give them the vaccinations its over 500.00. that's just to give them a needle. Kingsway did not even call to apologize for the screw up. They blamed the dog and the owner for the work that they did and fell apart, I gave them the chance to make this right and they did not care enough to give the dog a sedative or freezing to administer staples, they did it raw. Sure you can say I am holding a grudge, but these animals are family, I am sure if it was your kid you would have done right by them. If you treat your job, profession as a burden, not as a calling, it shows. We the customer, are not walking wallets, you are treating a member of our family, if you were a human doctor and did this type of work, there would be recourse, medical review, ethics committee reviews, and then your licence at the college of physician's review. Here there is no recourse but to leave a bad review. It is just not fair that this is all that I can do. I am still unhappy with your Dr. This should not have happened. There should have had some compassion for the dog, the clinic should have made this right. Now I have a traumatized dog who is resentful of your profession. Never in my life have I seen such unprofessional workmanship in a highly skilled profession. If this was an engineer, contractor, or other professional, they would have been sued. Now when it comes to care of my pet, I really resent going to any veterinary clinic. It feels like I am at Lowes or Home Depot, it feels like this just a job to them, the compassion and care that was there before is gone from the profession. Its like when you go to get your car fixed and the service guy is doing this because it's the job that they ended up with, it's a paycheck and that is all it is. There is no pride In what you do, there is no drive to do better, not to do harm and believe me this caused harm to my dog. I am so disappointed with the profession because of one individual who screwed up. I have a hard time myself trusting what these people say and do, all because they traumatized my family member, she is now going to be 9 years old. I had her for only 10 months & she has always been healthy ...until a few days ago. After lots of reading of reviews and calling a handful of clinics, Kingsway Vet Clinic was the only one willing to get me in ASAP. Unfortunately the next day my cat still wasn't improving but they were able to squeeze me in right away for a follow up! I never felt like it was a hassle or inconvenience. He did not elaborate or explain how he came to this conclusion. All he said was to "watch her" but didn't discuss what I should be watching for. He went on to tell me my kittens bladder was full and she'd urinate in my vehicle. My cat has never had an accident even tho she's only 12 weeks old. I just found our interaction odd and very off putting. I took her to see another vet for a second opinion and she's a very healthy and happy kitty. This cost me my time, peace of mind and money. Upon arrival, I told reception that I was checking in for my appt. I was asked to wait outside. After waiting 20 minutes outside, I was finally approached by a receptionist. She gathered my info to check me in. She went inside and came back out shortly, only to inform me that I was not in her computer. I showed the receptionist my call history, proving that I had called and made an appt. I was told that "These things happen." I was offered no apology whatsoever for their oversight. I have a puppy and for the last nine months, we went to this clinic. Our dog had all his vaccinations and neutering done by the clinic. Today, when our puppy needed a kennel cough vaccination, the clinic wanted to charge for another physical exam even when he just had one in October for his neutering. We've been travelling all the way from North Van to Kingsway, because our puppy was first vaccinated at this clinic. But Kingsway Vet clinic doesn't care. To them, there is no such thing as a regular patient. So, I phoned a North Van vet who told me I should go to our regular vet, as all we needed to pay will be the cost of the vaccine. I explained this to Kingsay vet and they still insisted on charging full price, so I switched to a local vet in North Van. This vet in North Van felt so bad he has to charge for physical exam. He asked again, why don't you go to your regular vet because you can save some money. But why would I, when my regular vet Kingsway Vet does not treat us as a regular patient and wanted to charge for another physical exam. To my surprise, the North Van vet also gave our puppy a free nail trim and a free ear cleaning because he felt sorry that we have to pay full price. Kingsway Vet Clinic does not appreciate the business we've brought them, and is more intent in making money than caring about their patients. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Koit. He is honest, very knowledgeable, and reasonably priced. My schnauzer has been seeing Dr. Koit for 10 years now. I've been to other vets for comparison but I always end up coming back. As a small shop, he's the owner and main vet (except for Saturdays). The great thing about that is you'll find there's extra effort made for communication directly with you, he will answer any of your questions with patience, and you'll be in the loop every step of the way when they can help it. I stress this only because in comparison to larger clinics, you may feel disconnected from the process because there are so many cooks in the kitchen. In the same light, being a smaller clinic, they have the essentials when it comes to equipment, so their surgery capabilities can be limited depending on the circumstances. Nonetheless, Dr. Koit will be able to diagnose and provide you with his knowledgeable opinion so you can make an informed decision on your next steps. Similar to the other reviews, I do have to say the receptionists are very to the point and so some may find this lacking customer service. While at times I do agree that it can be off-putting, at the end of the day, I'm there to see Dr. Koit. read more

I've been coming to Dr. Koit since 2007 with my three dogs and I have never been disappointed. Dr. Koit is very knowledgeable and does a very thorough job in making sure my dog's vitals are okay. We took our new puppy to this place because the store we have purchased the puppy from had an agreement for a free vet check with this clinic. Dr.Koit is a good doctor I guess but he has offered us a rabies shot at 50% off since we were referred by the store and we didn't know how much they normally cost, so we ended up paying around $53 for it. The next day I took my cat our regular vet and she had a rabies shot as well and it cost us $22 at a regular price!!! I asked them if dogs and cats got different types of shots and our vet said that its the same one and they are same price! I'm not coming back to Kingsway vet clinic again for this reason, considering that we had the shot with a 50% discount the difference in price is $80 if the regular price is $100! A true gem! I used to think that all vets were the same. They are not. Dr. Koit is the kindest and most selfless Vet I have ever met and he truly loves his job. Unlike other offices I have tried, he is gentle and is not out to "sell". His rates are beyond reasonable and his diagnosis and treatments have always been accurate. I called to see if they're open because when I googled Kingsway Vet, it said they're permanently closed, so when I told the receptionist that, she responded with "nnnope!" so I said "okay I will call back when I have a better time to bring my dog in" and she hangs up on me!!!! I've been going through one hell of a process trying to find a good vet, so my friend highly recommended Dr. Koit. When I called back it was a different girl who answered and I still made an appointment but I cancelled afterwards because this really bothered me. If I'm taking my sick dog somewhere to be cared for, I'd expect the whole team to be warm and kind. The cold and harsh tone that was given to me ruined most of my day and discouraged me even more for finding a great vet.
