If you hate your pets, you should bring them here for service. I would rate this place 0/5 if it was an option. They butchered my dogs ear and instead of repairing his hematoma with buttons and stitches like I was told it would be, once we had him sedated and I was to leave my dog in their care, they instead chose to suture 12 tubes into his ear damaging perfectly healthy ear tissue and stitching entirely through his cartilage 24 times. Zero informed care and quite frankly, I receive better care and service advising from my mechanic. I was sent home post-op with no pain killers or meds to help my dogs recovery process and within 5 days of his surgery and 1 evening using the no flap wrap they insisted I put him in even with these gross tubes and sutures in place, he got an infection immediately. I was told there was nothing I could buy from them to help his bleeding sutures heal a bit, clearly they are unaware Otizole exists. I was provided the wrong type of medication for the site of his infection (clavaseptin instead of cefaseptin), and ultimately needed to bring my dog to a vet who actually knows what they're doing for surgical procedures and post-op care. After VVH operated on my dog, I called numerous vets in Vancouver/Burnaby area to talk to them about their hematoma repair process and NONE of them supported the procedure of stitching entirely through my dog's ear nor was it advised to have ever sent me home with zero pain meds or anti-inflammatories, or use a no flap wrap (I was told to buy one and put it on my dog immediately after his surgery) My original review was hidden by VVH likely due to the photos I attached with it which is truly comical considering their management noted surgery procedure was validated. Show the photos and full review if that's the case and stop hiding the work you're so clearly proud of and refuse to reimburse me for despite costing me $1600 in a botched hematoma repair PLUS a second surgery which I paid for at a different vet all together, and additional costs for gauze and a no flap wrap which I was told numerous times to buy and keep on my dog for 30 days. I'm lucky my dog didn't die from their malpractice and overall lack of care in our time of need. read more

This place has gone completely downhill from years ago. I have been trying to get an appointment for weeks now. Using their contact form, I have requested appointments numerous times telling them when I'm available, and when they do deem to answer by email a day or two later, I am then asked to phone THEM! But when I do, they don't answer the frigging phone... EVER! I then email to ask them to phone me.... but I get crickets... and in the meantime, my pet has to suffer. Absolutely appalling service from reception staff at this establishment. The entire reception staff need to be sacked - and I will go out of my way to inform the owners as soon as I find out exactly who they are. So sad, as I couldn't recommend this place enough years ago. read more

It's so hard to find a vet in this city who's honest, and genuinely cares about your pet and not just making money off you. Vancouver Veterinary Hospital seems to be one of the only ones. I just wish it was closer to me, as I usually try to go to a vet closer to where I live. However, after a few less than good visits to my local vet, I made the drive over from the westside. Vancouver Veterinary Hospital does not deserve your loyalty because they do not make a long-term commitment to care for your beloved pet. Just when your pet's health declines, just when veterinary care is needed the most, they will probably tell you they can't offer you an appointment within a reasonable time frame and then leave you guessing as to whether or not it's OK to wait 6 to 8 weeks. Poor service and long wait times caused a crisis for my pet and a sharp decline in health that may have been prevented. As I searched for a new vet, I discovered that most other veterinary clinics either do not have extremely long waits for an appointment or are limiting their intake of new clients so that they can give priority to existing ones. About a year and half ago a blood test revealed that my cat had early kidney disease. At that point he was not prescribed any treatment. Seven months later, I became concerned because my cat's thirst had increased dramatically. I made an appointment with Dr. Amy Cheung. During the appointment it was discovered that my cat who had previously been overweight had lost .6 kilograms(13% of his body weight). Dr. Cheung complemented my cat, saying his weight was perfect. Based on a blood test that was 7 months old, and without providing the option of additional tests she prescribed a diet for early kidney disease. She claimed that he didn't really need to be on that diet but it wouldn't hurt to start him early. She casually told me to return in 5 months for another blood test because my cat 'might need a supplement'. Given my cat's symptoms, I now realize I should have been offered an option of new blood tests asap to ensure that my cat was being prescribed the right treatment at the right time. I wish Dr. Cheung had explained that although kidney disease is not curable if managed effectively, progression of the disease can be significantly slowed down. I am not sure why she wanted to wait 5 months before offering a very important supplement. The supplement is recommended for all stages of kidney disease. Five months later when I tried to book an appointment the wait was 8 weeks. I described my situation to the receptionist and asked if it would be possible to go on a cancellation list for an earlier appointment. I was told that it would not be possible. As I preferred to take my cat to a vet that I was familiar with, a vet that I knew and thought I could trust, I chose to wait the 8 weeks. Sadly, I have come to the realization that I am not qualified to make this kind of judgement call. Sometimes cats are a lot sicker than they appear to be. At the last minute I had to rebook the appointment due to a family emergency. This time the wait was an additional 6 weeks. I was not able to wait the additional 6 weeks as my cat became extremely ill. I had to take him to a different vet. My cat was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney failure. Due to poor service, lack of information and excessive wait times, a lot of the opportunity to manage the kidney disease and possibly extend my cat's life has been lost. Due to complications from kidney disease, my cat required 3 appointments with the new vet before his medications and treatments were sorted out. The new vet understood that my cat had been silently suffering for weeks and so made an effort to fit us in at the last minute. This would not have happened at Vancouver Veterinary Hospital. When I think back 5 years, to my very first appointment with Dr. Amy Cheung I can see how I was taken in by her charm and confidence. On my very first appointment I brought my other cat who was then 10 years old. Dr. Cheung spent most of the appointment bonding with her and telling me how lovely she was. I mentioned that our previous vet had suspected early kidney disease and had recommended a blood test. Dr. Cheung responded that she was 'not concerned'. I remember being impressed that she could come to such a conclusion just by looking at the cat. I now realize I was naive as the that the only way to know for sure is through a blood test. Dr. Cheung did not tell me this or express an interest in seeing the medical records from the previous vet. She did not attempt to determine if my cat was experiencing the first subtle symptoms of early kidney disease. Looking back on this I am realizing that, if the previous vet's suspicions had been correct and the cat had been suffering from early kidney disease, Dr. Cheung's lack of concern may have shortened my other cat's life as well. If your pet is in good health and you would like to visit a vet who is charming and confident and will say nice things about your pet, an appointment with Dr. Amy Cheung at Vancouver Veterinary Hospital may be right for you. But if your pet is unwell or may become unwell in the future, I would suggest you find a vet who is more diligent than Dr. Cheung and a veterinary hospital who will make a committment to providing a reasonable level of care when your pet is sick. read more

I had a good experience and advice from the vet (Dr Davis G Torres) but found the office staff to be disorganized, defensive and unhelpful. They lost my original vaccination records (thankfully had made copies so I was able to get a copy back), then they changed my dogs food without explaining the issue (their supplier was out, but I could have found it elsewhere), and are not reassuring when I called to ask I should being in the puppy for potential eye infection - it seemed to me like the office staff were trying to offer medical advice w/o checking w the vet or nurse, or they were just terrible at communicating the advice from the experts. read more

It seems to be impossible to get an appointment at this place. We had our dog neutered here back in 2017 and they were great then, but now that we were looking to make this our primary clinic- the staff is very unhelpful. For usual checkups if you can wait weeks, the vet we saw was nice and courteous but when our dog fell ill and needed their help we were left hanging. I called the clinic in the morning desperately looking for an appointment and was told they have no space, I was told they'd give me a call back. I also had a question for the vet and the reception said they would ask the vet and call me back- in both cases I never heard back. I had to call 3 times the same day and ended up taking my dog elsewhere. It even took them weeks to send my dogs medical history from a checkup to the vet. read more

We've been going to this place for many years, the staff and the vets there used to be really professional and knew what they're doing. My 13 year old chihuahua needed a dental cleanup recently and she came home totally beaten up. I was informed by the vet that during the procedure, the tube came out of the trachea and water probably got into it. And that one tooth got crushed during the procedure and blood kept coming out of her nose. She was totally stoned by the anesthesia and couldn't move at all the whole night since we brought her back at 6pm. It's absolutely unbearable to see her tiny body suffer like this after the procedure. This used to be my most trustable vet hospital and I had recommended it to many friends but now this hospital hire young and inexperienced vet but charge you like crazy. This review is so long overdue! I had my yorkie neutered here around mid-June. Prior to that we had a consultation with Dr. Amy Cheung, and she was so incredibly kind and I just got such good vibes from her. My intuition was right because the surgery went well and our little guy, despite being small, didn't seem to be in any pain. We did have a big issue with him being allergic to the pain medicine he was given and it was terrifying. He got weak and started to vomit and have diarrhea, so we called the vet ASAP and they told us to quickly swing by to get some stuff that would fix him (and luckily he was better within a day of taking it!). This is not the vet's fault and just one of those rare things that can happen (just like a human can have an unknown allergy to Advil or some other commonly-used pain medicine). Now I know for future that he can't take this certain medication. The pricing was very reasonable, too, and unlike other vet clinics we visited they don't seem to try to swindle you here or pressure you into spilling your life savings into their clinic. I walked out of a vet prior to finding this one because they were completely ripping us off and thought we were stupid enough to buy into their ridiculous pricing, so it was so reliving to find this gem of a vet. It's now about 4 months later and our yorkie is such a happy, spunky little munchkin and we're just so happy to have people who actually care to bring him! read more

The actual vet experience was fine. Our veterinarian was kind, attentive and helpful. However, one of their three receptionists was quite rude. I came in and said we had an appointment and she just stared at me and said "and....". I was quite shocked. A nice personality is NOT a good enough reason to continue to see a vet. Being told "your cat is in a great state of health" without doing appropriate tests is not a good enough reason to continue to see a vet. Not paying attention to suggestions on a lab report and not ordering additional tests is pure negligence. Being unable to identify the stages of kidney disease from blood tests is total incompetence. Prescribing a medication for dogs to a cat (when an online google search tells one it causes renal failure in cats) is too late after the damage is done. read more

Maia had to have 8 teeth extracted from her small little cat mouth. I was so scared and worried but I didn't need to be, the staff here, especially Melody was very helpful. You can really tell they love all animals at this pet hospital (well I hope so!). The cost of keeping your pet in a comfortable state is worth it, and I was also worried it was going to cost me an arm and a leg.. and it didn't. Maia is healing so well, gaining weight and eating lots of food now, and it's only been a week since her surgery. I'm impressed! read more

We recently acquired a couple of kittens. We took them elsewhere for their first round of vaccinations but weren't very satisfied. I wandered in to this place having noticed it on previous visits to Famous Foods. I was impressed with the staff and with the atmosphere in the hospital as I discussed our needs. Our kittens have now had their booster shots there and recently went in for the day to be spayed and chipped. The whole process was smooth and the staff were very caring. The complimentary claw trim was very welcome too as they do enjoy using our legs as climbing poles. read more

My dog Nena was limping and went in for a checkup recently. What really impressed me was that while i was asking lots of questions and willing to run every test available for my dog, they kept it simple and affordable, and suggested i do a follow up xray if the course of drugs did not work. In the last few days i received a follow up call from the vets about nena and also a call from the lab about the bloodwork. Everything felt thorough and i was comfortable with her care. For comparison, the Granville island Vet clinic quoted me $250 - $1000 for teeth cleaning, Here the top end for 4/4 being worst tartar buildup is $400 and they are offering 15% off this month. I had to switch vets from Vancouver Feline Hospital after moving to southeast Vancouver, since not having a car made it too difficult to get there. I brought my 15-year-old cat here after he stopped eating, and although my poor little old man didn't make it (he had previously been diagnosed with CKD), I have nothing but good things to say about this clinic. Everyone I dealt with was kind, empathetic, and helpful. They gave me options and answered all my questions, and when the time came to say goodbye, they made me feel like they actually cared and understood how hard it was. Their hours are very convenient, and when you call, someone picks up almost immediately. The cost was reasonable. Moro, my feline friend I lived with for 11 years passed away on June 6, and the love and care vets at this hospital showed were overwhelming. I will start off with saying I went to Vancouver Veterinary Hospital based on these reviews and I am very happy I picked them as I have been ripped off at every vet I have ever been to in Vancouver except this one! I had brought my 3lb Chihuahua in to them she was not her usual self she was lethargic, her eyes were open but no one was home sort of stare I was freaking out so I called Vancouver Veterinary Hospital they were able to fit me in, when I was there I didn't have to wait they took me as soon as I walked in and I was very impressed with the Vet I saw there I believe her name was Linda she was very knowledgeable and for the first time in Vancouver I met a Vet that actually cared for my pet versus the money she could have gotten out of me. We talked about what it could be she went over food, accidental swallowing of something ect but what we both agreed on is she definitely needed some fluids since it was 5pm and they close at 6pm there was no way I felt comfortable leaving my baby there all night as I have never used them before and my chi baby is very sensitive so that was just not an option for us...... heres the reason why I gave them a good review. 1. most vets give one option take it or leave it Linda gave me a few options and steps before spending a ton of money and Instead of leaving her over night she gave my lil one a fluid injection that was under her skin and the skin cells will absorb it on its own. I liked that because it meant I didn't have to leave her over night. 2. she said a blood test was recommended and I agreed but needed to think about it as I'm a student and the blood test wasn't a for sure that it would show what was wrong since she didn't pressure me and kept going onto what it could be without the test I decided to do the test most vets are a no test no help situation so thank you Linda for that Im very appreciative of your kindness to my pet. 3. Soon as the tests and treatment were done they brought her right back to me in minutes (I had a sick dog in the past that needed on going treatment they would take her from me and stick her in a cage in the back and leave her there to bark and stress out as it was easier for them to retrieve her there) I appreciated they brought her right back to me. sometimes the small things that you catch give you a sense that something is wrong or right I caught onto the little things and it made me at ease knowing at least these are caring people who actually care for the welfare of my pet. 4. linda gave me a lot of pointers to look out for if this happens it could be this and so on, I liked we were always thinking a step ahead incase she got worse as well they gave me a syringe without a needle and I am now able to give my dog water with that syringe and she doesn't mind drinking it that way so this has helped so much as my lil one is not drinking enough water. After all suggestions, meds, and care from Vancouver Veterinary Hospital my chichi was as good as new (She had a bacteria from possibly smelling other dogs feces) I will definitely use them again. Also the bill was very reasonable for everything they did for her based on the costs i've had from other vets and their poor services this one left me thinking it was worth it and I didn't pay for anything that wasn't necessary. read more

Referral from friends and family. I got my Yorkshire Terrier puppy a few months ago and prior to deciding on a proper vet, I decided to ask around where the "best" in the Lower Mainland is located. 3/4 of the pet lovers I asked recommended Vancouver Veterinary Hospital. My dad told me he used to take his German Shepard here back in the 60's and 70's and was happy to hear that they are still in operation. My first visit at the vet with my puppy was an extremely positive one. My little guy had his second set of shots and Dr. Amy Cheung took the time to answer all my questions (I'm a first time puppy owner). When my puppy got sick, I had a number of questions and the receptionist took her time to answer my questions over the phone and asked the Doctors if there wasn't something they could answer immediately. I've since taken my puppy back a few other times for additional shots and the care and attention that's given is second to none. I am very happy with the service that I've received thus far and Dr. Cheung has certainly made me feel a lot more comfortable with taking my to the vet! I am very disappointed with how the staff treated us today. I called the day before to set an appointment and I was given a time and day. It was even too early for us but we just grab it since it is the only slot available for the week. We arrived on time and the lady just said we are not in the list. She even said maybe I called the wrong clinic. Showed her proof that it was their clinic that I called. Then came out the staff I talked to and she said she remember me calling but it was their computer system that is to be blaimed. I just waited for them to accept that it was their FAULT OR MISTAKE NOT OURS. That lady at the reception area should not be having that job. She doesn't know how to deal nicely with customers. My poor puppy had a slipped knee and Dr Amy Cheng was super helpful and informative during our visit. Thankfully, he was alright and it was determined that he did not require surgery, but this was very different diagnosis from another vet we had visited at another clinic. I trusted Dr Cheng a LOT more; she took the time to explain why he didn't require surgery and let us know we could do to prevent the surgery later on in my dog's life. My dog loved her and I could tell that she was a true animal lover. I'm extremely satisfied with the service from Dr Cheng and will be coming to her for my dog's check-ups regularly! read more

Took our new puppy there yesterday and the staff were wonderfully warm and welcoming. Our appointment was on schedule, they helped pamper our pooch and make him feel super at ease. We've been coming to this clinic for few years and were always satisfied. However the most recent health problem our doggy had cemented our belief that this is one of the best vet clinics in the city. Dr. Mueller's professional approach and care is always at 110% and Dr. Chang's superb personality and love for animals make the visits . . . fun! After the eye surgery and dental cleaning our dog has healed with no problems and I wish I really believed Dr. Chang from the start that it will heal in time :p read more

Everyone here has been knowledgable, friendly and professional. We took our rescue dog Kinoko for a checkup when we first got him and then came back to have some dental work done, including a few tooth extractions. One of the technicians William is phenomenal. He clearly explained what was going to happen before the surgery, then went over what happened, including showing us photos and explaining the blood test results and which teeth were removed and why. He was very clear in explaining the medications we need to give our dog. He clearly cares a great deal about animals. The bill was less than what the vet quoted us, and the front counter staff took time to go through each item on the bill. I'm grateful for the care for our dog and for the staff taking time to explain to us what was going on. read more

The worst veterinary experience of my life. If 0 stars were an option, then that would be a no-brainer. If any of you out there are looking for a vet that doesn't care about their customers and prioritizes their own convenience over the health of your pet, then this is the place for you! If any of you have a busy schedule, kids, or anything important that takes priority over the schedule of the staff of the Vancouver Veterinary Hospital, then they don't want or need your business! I have been buying pet food from this place for the past year and a half - when I called to ask if they can put a bag on hold for me to pick up the next day, they said they couldn't do that. I know, it's a monumental ask. Rather than coming up with a solution like paying for the bag over the phone or even providing some sort of semblance of appreciation for continued business from a loyal client, I had to ask for my elderly mother to pick up the 11kg bag. Thanks VVH! Recently, I booked an appt with them for 6:20pm and they called my wife to request the appt to be moved back to 6pm to accommodate their needs. I only found out about the change before the appt and rushed to get there. I even called in advance to let them know that I would be running 10 mins late and they put me on hold to then call my wife to say that I needed to call them or they would have to re-schedule the appt. Bear in mind that I did not request a change to the appt time, this was a request from VVH. I showed up at 6:14pm (before the originally scheduled time) for my appt and they turned me away! They offered a few convenient times for them on Sunday which neither me or my wife could make. I waited 3 weeks for this appt, there was no other customer in the space at this time and their solution was to look my poor bulldog pup in the eye and tell us they can't help us. It would appear their speciality is dealing with cold-blooded animals. Anyways, this is the last time I set foot in this place. You've lost my business forever Vancouver Vet Hospital. DO NOT go to Veterinarian Hospital or at least do not see Drs. Minhas and Yu. My very long story condensed... I took my dog in because his neck was swollen and he was acting very odd. Dr. Minhas stated that there was no swelling and he might just be "nauseous." I insisted there was swelling, she took him to the back, and when she came back, she said there was in fact quite a large lump. She suggested the following day he be sedated to look down his throat to see if there was anything lodged in there. Next day, I saw Dr. Yu who said she did not find anything, but poked the swelling with a needle and said a bunch of "puss" came out, which meant it is in abscess and must be an infection. They took a culture (sent to the lab) and prescribed him with generic antibiotics. They said that over the following days the swelling will decrease, but the opposite happened, it kept getting bigger. I phoned in 2 times to consult, and both times they said wait for the results for the culture. I couldn't wait anymore and I took him to a Vet at 1st Avenue Hospital. He described the situation as an emergency and that my dog needed to be operated on before it gets any bigger and that he could potentially stop breathing. In addition, he was shocked that they never prescribed my dog with any pain medication (my dog was not eating). This Vet said that because the other Vet stated there was puss, it must be an abscess, however his initial impression would be that it was a ruptured saliva gland. The next day, he goes for surgery and it was discovered that they did misdiagnose my dog and he actually did have a ruptured saliva gland (needed to be removed). This doctor said there was "no puss" in the lump and when we got the results from the culture, this confirmed that this was a misdiagnosis. When I told Dr. Yu about this, she became defensive and stated "there was definitely puss" and maybe the "bacteria died on the way to the lab." In short, I put my dog through a week of pain (without pain medications,) was charged $500 for a sedation he did not need, and worst of all, if I would have stuck with this Vet, my dog very well might not be here today. I would like to say my dog has made a full recovery after the operation. read more

I don't even know where to start. Would my cat be alive today if I hadn't of switched to this clinic? I have no way of knowing, but I know one thing, I wish I hadn't of switched to this clinic. I felt pretty good with them after our first visit. The doctor seemed to care and took my calls and inquiries with patience. My cat was very ill and I just automatically assumed that when I made an appointment that all the followup appointments would be with the original doctor who saw her and was familiar with her, her issues, and me. My pet was seen by a different vet every time we brought her to this clinic. Because of this I had to repeat my cat's symptoms, history and incidentals to a different doctor every time. I was given a spark of hope when I asked Dr. Yu if my cat was "on the way out" and she said, "not necessarily." When I told her that my cat was coughing and making "herking" noises she said there wasn't anything wrong with coughing. How can there not be anything wrong with coughing and gagging? On our last appointment we had a vet who didn't introduce herself, so I'm not sure what her name is and she isn't recognizable on the clinic's website. Like I said, my cat had been very ill and when I made the appointment I told the scheduler that my cat's health seemed to be deteriorating and I was afraid because she had an episode of open mouthed breathing that lasted a few minutes, but recovered before I could round her up and take her to the ER. I pressed these issues during the appointment and even then this vet did not seem interested in addressing the problems with any concern. She was more interested in the cat's lack of bowel movements. The more questions I asked about her breathing and back leg lameness (possibly saddle thrombus) and the more I pressed, the less helpful she became. At one point she even shrugged her shoulders and made a "I don't know!" face when I asked her about my cat's open mouth breathing, heavy belly breathing, and loss of balance. My poor cat was so thin and sick looking - to me she looked like she had not much longer to live - but the vet still prescribed her steroids. Not just a few weeks worth, but several months worth, as if my cat was going to be around for that long in that condition. Her noncommittal attitude was infuriating. When I got home I started internet searching different vets in the area with the intention of getting another opinion. My cat died on the way to the ER roughly one week later. She was screaming in agony and fright, it was horrible. I had already resigned myself to the fact that I was losing my sweetheart and that we would have to make one final trip to the vet in the near future, but I was not prepared for her to die yowling in pain, panting and choking on her own vomit in my arms. I will have to live with my regret and the memory of my cat's final, painful moments and I can't help but wonder how differently her final moments might have been if the vet had of taken my concerns into account and applied herself, possibly even suggested palliative care instead of prescribing her months worth of steroids of which she only took 3 doses before expiring. I realize I am in the minority with my assessment of this clinic, but I can't let those reviews color my experience. read more

I already wrote a review, but just wanted to update it. My older cat had to be euthanized today (at nearly 19, I figure she had a good run). Dr. Minhas was super-compassionate and very gentle with poor frail Rosie. Rosie was euthanized wrapped up in a fuzzy blanket provided by Dr. Minhas, first sedated, and with me petting her the whole time. She was even purring until the sedative made her too sleepy to purr. The whole staff were incredibly compassionate and remembered details of Rosie's personality and previous visits. They also didn't try to upsell me on fancy cremation options when I was in a vulnerable place. They made it known those options were available, but there was zero sales pitch when I said no. That's not always the case at vet offices. Thanks Dr Minhas and VVH staff! You made a horrible day more bearable. read more

These guys are great! Super friendly staff and awesome doctors who are all great with my cats. It took me 3 different vets to find this clinic and I am very glad I found it. I have had everything from yearly check ups to kitten emergencies and they have been handled with care and ease...making me feel a hell of a lot better for bringing my cats in. read more

I only went there once so far, but I'm incredibly fond of Dr.Cheung the veterinarian. She was so good with my dog, who has had some really bad experiences at the vet. My dog Sequoia literally just laid there the whole exam and was totally relaxed. I like this place so far and most of the staff are very friendly, minus one or two here and there. I'd definitely recommend you go with Dr.Cheung because she's super amazing with dogs. read more

Had to take my dog here due to breathing issues. I usually go to another vet in downtown but majority of the times that I go there, it is extremely costly with no real answers. Making an appointment was very easy and I felt that the receptionist showed genuine concerns on my dog's health issues. My appointment was with Dr. Amy Cheng. Although this is my first interaction with her, I feel at ease leaving my dog with her. I can tell that Dr. Amy is a very caring and compassionate person. She has a very friendly personality. You can also tell that she truly loves her job and animals! read more

Do yourself and, more importantly, do your birds a favor, and take them somewhere else besides the Vancouver Veterinary Hospital and Dr. Kurt Dawid. I don't say this lightly, especially since Dawid is apparently the only avian vet in Vancouver (although he's not even listed on the Association of Avian Veterinarians). However, for my birds' safety and my peace of mind, I will be making the longer drive to Portland or possibly Lake Oswego. The entire story is too long to go into on a review such as this. But he did not do a complete exam on my three parrots and he wasn't up front about all of his charges. And to top it all off and despite my perfectly courteous behavior, I was disinvited to return to the Vancouver Veterinary Hospital. My pets are my kids and as a Ph.D. Biologist having had birds for more than 30 years, I expect questions to be answered to my satisfaction when I place their care and well-being into someone's, especially a vet's, hands. Apparently, Dr. Dawid is insecure enough that he doesn't like to be questioned. read more

I brought my puppy for an initial checkup and neutering. I chose to see Dr. Cheung as she has received many good reviews. She was very friendly and took the time to answer my questions. I had a great impression with this vet. On the day of the surgery, the vet technician was knowledgeable and reassuring. However, when I picked him up after the surgery, my puppy had very serious clipper burns. They actually looked more painful than the surgical incision site. The technician apologized for it, but I think it's totally avoidable. The areas looked so horrible. I got a quote over the phone prior to the surgery but the actual price was a lot higher. The additional $90 blood work didn't help either but at least it was nice to have it done for overall health check. read more

I've been meaning to write a review for a long while, and was reminded of the great service and care after our last trip to the vet two days ago. The first review I wanted to write would have been a '0' star out of 5, because of the first vet I met with. My first visit to this hospital, we saw an older female veterinarian that made me feel like a total P.o.S! I almost didn't go back, but they are literally around the corner from my house, so I tried a second time, and asked for anyone but her (looks like she is no longer working at this hospital). For my second visit, I met the best vet that I've ever had (in 29 years of having animals)! Dr. Cheung is such a lovely and caring person, that all of the animals that I've had that meet her, look forward to their vet visits. When it was time to put my two rottie x sheps down (1 year apart), it was such a comfort to have her with us. I had to take my 1 year old Shepsky to the vet just this past weekend for an ear infection, and Dr. Cheung was unfortunately not working, so we met with Dr. Mattsson, who was also a delight! The front end staff are also pretty great; much more professional than some of the other local vet offices that we've visited. read more

Absolutely fantastic - the best vet we've found in 12 years in Vancouver. Dr. Amy Cheung is wonderful with our animals; she has always discussed care options carefully, and has given us so much helpful advice along with excellent care. The reception area is often very busy, so staff can occasionally seem gruff, but the animals come first at this excellent clinic and are always treated with kindness and sensitivity. We feel so lucky to have found Dr. Cheung and the Vancouver Veterinary Hospital. read more
