General Tso's chicken & tempura rolls

My boyfriend and I went here for dinner to try this place out and it was AMAZING. Best food I have ever eaten!! My man feels the same way!! Service is great! And super cute inside! 10/10 would recommend!!! I would give 20 stars if I could!

If you're visiting Smith Mountain Lake you HAVE to make a stop here at this wonderful family owned and operated sushi spot. The food is delicious, service is top notch (the owners are so kind! A true gem) and the restaurant is very clean and spacious. There's so much variety on their menu too!

(From November 2020) There aren't many eating options in this area of VA. So what you get may be overhyped and underwhelming. Fortunately this place wasn't like that. The sushi is very impressive here. The Red Dragon Roll is one of the best sushi rolls I've ever had. The tuna on top with the tempura and avocado inside had layers of textures that were a pleasure to eat. Tastes wonderful of course. Also got the shrimp lo mein since I needed some form of asian carbs. It's nothing to write home about but at least it wasn't terrible. If you like sushi, you need to come here. And yes, the sushi is that damn good!

I was surprised to find a sushi bar at Smith Mountain Lake, and I must say I was quite impressed by the quality of their sushi. My parents, who don't eat sushi, had chicken and broccoli and Kung pow shrimp and they both said it was some of the most interesting and delicious versions of those two dishes that they've ever had. The atmosphere was very nice, The only issue at all is that they were short-handed the night we were in so service wasn't quite as good as it might've been had they been fully staffed. Luckily, I was on vacation and recently retired so it really didn't bother me much at all LOL if you're at Smith Mountain Lake and you like sushi I highly recommend you go to Edo, you won't be disappointed. We returned to Edo this past Monday for dinner and it was just as good as it was the first time! Enjoy talking to the owner, Jenny. They really work hard at Edo and it pays off. We shall return!

We went for a Valentine's Day date night. Started with a soup and salad. We both enjoyed the salad but didn't care for the soup. Next, we had the Red Dragon Roll with an order of gyoza (6). Sushi was delicious, definitely recommend Red Dragon. The gyoza was very doughy, and didn't really have a lot of filling. For our entrees we go the steak and chicken and chicken and shrimp dinners. They even gave us our own personal bottle of yum yum sauce which was a huge bonus. We both really enjoyed our food!

And Kabuki Japanese Steak House & Sushi located in Christianberg, Virginia is the perfect example. My friend and I arrived at the restaurant on a beautiful Tuesday early evening at around 5:30pm. The architectural design of the building itself was very impressive. The light blue tiles of the roof stand out as we're not used to seeing blue tiles on a building but mostly red. The majestic entrance to the building anticipated something special inside. After passing by several display cases with Japanese items inside we reached the Host's station where a young lady host warmly greeted us and guided us to the dining area. There we found several teppanyaki tables. These tables are designed with a built-in flat iron griddle where food is cooked in front of the diners. The term "teppanyaki" itself comes from the Japanese words "teppan" (iron plate) and "yaki" (grilled).  The first table was already complete, so we were the first party to be seated at the second table. I sat at the corner so had a perfect view of the chefs of both tables. First our server, another young lady came and took the order of everyone on the table. She then brought us our soup and salad which was a good size and very tasteful. Then the Chef came out and repeated the order in front.of us to make sure who wanted what and how did they wanted cooked. Both my friend and I ordered the Filet Mignon & Scallops. He ordered the steak medium and I medium rare. Then the Chef started doing a show with his cooking instruments and with fire. I invite you to view my photographs and video clips accompanying this review for a better idea of the set-up and food. Even though the food was a bit expensive, I appreciated the fact that it was plentiful. They serve us a good size Filet Mignon and three large size quality Scallops. I've been at cheaper restaurants of this type that the amount of food left us with much to be desired and a bit hungry at the end. But not here. We felt totally satisfied at the end. Our Chef had a warm and welcoming personality and made the dining experience a total pleasure. As the evening went on several other tables were filled, and this was good for it being a Tuesday. In conclusion, I highly recommend this restaurant for its cleanliness and the beauty of its exterior and interior design, creating a suitable environment appropriate to enjoying a wonderful presentation and Japanese meal, provided by a very friendly and talented staff.

Ordering was fast-food style where we ordered at the front, gave our names, and waited for our name to be called. The dining area had plenty of places to sit with great natural lighting. I got the white rice, hibachi chicken, and hibachi shrimp while my partner got the white rice, fried chicken, and gyudon beef. We also split a 5pc gyoza appetizer all of which came out to be about $32. We waited about 10 minutes for our order and got the food so fresh. In addition to our meal and appetizer, the gyoza came with ponzu sauce and we both got a complementary side cup of yumyum sauce and spicy mayo. I truly thought the meal was delicious! My chicken was very tender and the shrimp was delicious. My partner loved his crispy friend chicken and enjoyed his beef. This meal was SUPER filling and could definitely be spread across two meals. The theatrics at the grill are well-executed without veering into gimmick territory, and the chefs clearly know their way around a teppanyaki surface. The steak deserves mention. Properly seasoned and cooked to order, it holds up against pricier competitors. The fried rice is a quiet standout - better than it needs to be, which says something about the kitchen's attention to detail even on the basics. Where Ichiban earns its reputation is in the overall package. Communal grill seating creates an energy that's difficult to manufacture, and on a good night the atmosphere genuinely elevates the meal. Service is functional rather than polished, which feels appropriate for the format. The pricing reflects the experience rather than purely the food, and that's a fair trade for most diners. Walk-ins are acc lodated, making it an accessible option without une friction of advance planning. Not a destination for the serious gastronome, but an honest, well-run restaurant that delivers what it promises.

Last time I reviewed it I dined with a friend at one of their Hibachi tables with chef performances. I invite you to read that review and view my photographs accompanying it. It was an amazing dining experience. This time I dined at their traditional dining room next to their Sushi Bar. As soon as I arrived the friendly lady host welcomed me and after asking where I preferred to dine, took me to one of their tables there. Shortly afterwards, my friendly server arrived and took my drink order of a Coke. Then after I had reviewed their menu, I made the following order to my server: I ordered the Gyoza for appetizer and for my main entrée I ordered the Lobster, Filet Mignon (cooked medium-rare), and Scallop Hibachi Dinner which was served with a chicken broth and green salad with the house ginger dressing. The timing of the bringing out the items of my order was perfect. My server did an excellent job serving me the items of my order and making sure I didn't need anything else. This dining area had a more relaxed environment and the food was the same high-quality food. The filet was very tender and juicy. The scallops also tasted very good as well as the lobster meat that was served in a small bowl. The fried rice however tasted somewhat strange. Like if they hadn't rinsed the container where it was cooked well and it had a soapy flavor. It also lacked the flavor of Japanese butter, that it usually has when I had it served from the hot table performance. For dessert I ordered a slice of their Japanese Layered Crepe Cake. I remembered how delicious it tasted last time. This time it also tasted awesome yet not as fresh as last time. In conclusion I still highly recommend this restaurant, preferably eating at the interactive dining experience with a chef cooking at your table, unless your ordering Sushi. Then the traditional dining room with Sushi Bar would be a better option.

Comments about how good the food was there, of how when they drive by they missed stopping for sushi and hibachi, of how they really hope they re-open, about how they can't wait to see this place re-open, about their awesome food and awesome people, I myself couldn't help but wonder how special this place must have been to so many members of our community, and to also hope that they renovate it and that they have a successful re-opening real soon. Today, I found out that they indeed did have a re-opening two weeks ago, and as soon as I did, I headed over there to try it out. When I arrived the first thing I noticed was how the restaurant was reasantly painted and had new signs: one on a pole close to Williamson Road, and one of their name with their characteristic red font on top of their roof. Colorful banners also were hanging from the roof to the walls of their front patio, and a red OPEN neon sign was flashing from the front wall of the restaurant. After I noticed the entrance was on the side of the building, I went in. The interior design was simple, yet warm in the minimalist style, with large artworks along the walls of the restaurant. Up front was a long counter starting with the Host's station with a computer and the rest with a Sushi station where two Sushi Chefs were continually making Shushis. A very kind Asian lady host gave me a warm greeting, took me to my table, and handed me the menus. She took my drink order: a glass of Iced Tea. And my appetizer order: a Pork Egg Roll and an order of Coconut Shrimp. The items were so fresh. The Pork Egg Roll was very crispy oh the outside and soft and juicy in the inside. And the Coconut Shrimp was one of the best I've ever had. The batter was light yet crispy so as not to overwhelm the shrimp taste, and the sauce that came with them was amazing. They brou As my main course I had the Teriyaki Filet Mignon and Scallops. It came with fried rice, and they also served me a salad after I finished the appetizers. The Filet Mignon was very tender as well as the Scallops, and cooked just right, just as were the vegetables that came with them: zucchini, onions, and mushrooms. And the Egg Fried Rice was also unbelievably delicious. As I was eating I had the privilege of observing the two Sushi Chefs making the Sushis. They came out as culinary masterpieces and the servers walked by me taking them to the customer'stables.. The view of the sushi made me want to return to enjoy some of them. It was only 5:30pm and the restaurant was already full. I was very impressed with the great numbers of customers and by the efficient customer service they were receiving by the servers, who all seemed to be Asian. My server was also very nice and hospitable. She came to check on me at the appropriate times and even answered me some questions I had about the restaurant and its owner. Even though the restaurant served Japanese Cuisine, the owner, the Sushi Chefs, and some of the servers were Chinese, with the Chefs trained in Japanese Cuisine. At the end I asked my server for the dessert menu. She told me that they didn't have dessert for now because since they opened two weeks ago, the restaurant was so full that they decided to hold on serving desserts for now to accommodate the volume of customers wanting to eat there. I invite the readers of my review to view my photographs accompanying this review to get an even better sense of this outstanding restaurant which I definitely highly recommend and will be returning soon.
