Went there with a emergency, a broken frame (aluminum). they treated the issue with urgency and helped get me back on the road quickly. it was an unplanned emergency fix and has done well though I need to do more work to make it a long term soloution as I was advised this by the shop. Here's my story. About a couple months back, a support beam under the seat of my electric wheelchair snapped and the chair started to cave in, somewhat crushing my ribs. I went around to a few auto repair shops in the area asking if they could fix it, they told me that the material is aluminum and that Ed's Welding Services shop was the only one in the area that dealt with that metal. Excited I wen to their shop only to find it closed for the day, the shop next to them told me that they open early in the morning and that if I wanted to meet them, I would need to get there early since after a certain hour they are out doing other jobs. So I thought to myself "ok, that's cool, i'll just stop by in the morning (7am)." So, not wanting to oversleep, I stayed up all night just so that I could meet them and get my chair fixed. When i get there, they seemed to be in the middle of a project but ask what i needed. I told them what happened and they started to get to work repairing my chair. I kept thinking to myself as they worked that they were really professional in what they did. After about an hour they were done and I couldn't have been any more happier with the result. Fast forward to present day, I experienced a bit of an issue with my chair again and thought "i'll go see them again" since they did such and excellent job before. However, when I got there the guy acted really cold towards me saying that I didn't "appreciate" the service last time and told me that they couldn't help me today. OMG, I said thank you at least 3 times before and after the job was done last time. Before leaving the area, my chair was having issues again, and I thought "I can't go back without even a quick fix." so i called him and really didn't seem like he wanted to help me, kept saying that I wasn't appreciative enough, that I seemed dissatisfied with the service. I DIDN'T GET ANY SLEEP THE NIGHT BEFORE (i didn't say this, but man i wanted to). Also, I paid $30 for the repair job the first time (i honestly thought that it was going to be so much more); he tells that they he charges $100 an hour (NOW HE TELLS ME?? he even goes to say that he did me a FAVOR fixing it that day). I had to butter him up saying that i DID appreciate their work (i sincerely did) and that I was really happy that i found them. I asked if, not today, when could they help me, he told me FRIDAY... Since I couldn't get back home with the chair in current condition, I simply asked if I could use some tape to patch up the issue. The tape seems to be working for now, after using the tape, I placed on on one of the work tables, thanked them loudly enough for them to hear it this time, and with happiest face i could muster (i stayed up the night prior just to see these guys again). In the end, I really hoped that I could come to these guys whenever I had wheelchair issues, but after today, i'll need to look up other places that can handle aluminium. They are there to provide a SERVICE, and being unprofessional does NOT make you look good. I'm rating 5 for the fact that this shop is actually skilled with welding forged and cast aluminum wheels that were cracked. For years I only met 1 person that could properly repair cracked aluminum but he was also the same person help build all the fast and furious cars for the movie sets... which meant he was too busy to really be able to tackle small jobs. This shop is the first that actually has strong enough equipment to weld that penetrate the thick aluminum correctly and skilled hands equal to my other mention. Their price is fair at $50 per wheel. I'm pleased and have been referring everyone i know with cracked wheels to come here. read more
