When I first started looking for a job a year ago, I was trying to return to the work force after 11 years of hiatus from it. It wasn't easy, and I didn't know where to start. I reached out to JuicyBlue, and Brandon got in touch with me. He spoke with me at length about what I wanted to do and about my experience. I had never worked with an employment agency before and didn't know if I was supposed to pay him, so I asked him. He laughed and said that no, he doesn't take payments from job seekers. I may be misremembering, but I think he said that he gets his commissions from the companies after he places workers with them. Anyway, this kind man told me that even though he couldn't place me at that time, he would work with me to get me a job. He asked me to send him my resume. After reading it, he called me again and told me what I needed to change, to make my resume more accomplishment-based and less role-based. I didn't know it at the time, but my resume was very much in the 90s style(!) and he was bringing it up to the current standard. And he's just a nice guy, I really enjoyed talking to him. We spoke a couple more times, where I updated my resume and he gave me more feedback, and gave me some tips on interviews. Shortly after that, I applied to my current company (using the resume that Brandon helped me polish), and got the job of my dreams. I cannot thank Brandon enough for giving me hope and help during a pivotal part of my life. I hope more people are like him. I've heard horror stories of employment agencies using people and disappointing them. But Brandon is the real thing. He really wants to help, and he has helped me, without taking a cent from me.

Mike helped us to figure out exactly how many people we needed to hire for our event, and was flexible in working with me to determine how long we would need the staff to work for. I found the prices to be very reasonable, and the quality and professionalism of the staff to be fantastic! The helpers and bartender at our reception went above and beyond to ensure that everything flowed smoothly, and they helped with tasks that I had not event previously discussed with Mike. When planning an event in the Bay Area, I definitely recommend Norcal Staffing.

I talked to other companies in the Bay Area but after speaking with Mike, he reassured me his team knew what they were doing and that confidence always made me feel better. In addition to being so communicative and responding to my emails and questions in a timely manner. What I wasn't expecting was exactly how much better they made the whole event. I later found out that there were some things like cups or silverware missing and Mike and his team so graciously went out and got what we needed. No hesitation or questions asked. Talk about going above and beyond!! My event coordinator worked more closely with them and had nothing but good things to say. My wedding was everything I dreamed of. I didn't want to worry about the little problems and luckily that was the case, all thanks to NorCal staffing for taking things off my plate (literally and figuratively). I can't thank you enough for all the hard work!!!! If you're looking for a sign to hire them, this is it! Your research is done!

Then I encountered Kelly Services online and found a job post that matched well with my past experiences/skills. I called Kelly and they immediately agreed to submit my resume to the company of interest. They're pretty good at following up if they believe you might be a strong candidate for a position. Plus, they gave me a lot of advice prior to the interview and kept in touch with me throughout the whole hiring process. The only issue I see with Kelly Services is that they lag in keeping touch with their employees after putting them on an assignment. I've been working as a contractor for nearly a year, but I didn't hear back from them until recently. They offered me another assignment closer to home. Technically, Kelly is supposed to contact my manager to review my performance and discuss the possibility of hiring me or dismissing me after 6 months, not drag my contract any longer. This whole time I've been waiting for a nonexistent permanent position. My colleagues also criticized Kelly for their lack of response to their employees. I heard that other agencies frequently keep in touch with their employees and even invite them to lunches to discuss their career goals, which is something Kelly needs to consider doing. Although keeping in touch with employees is Kelly Services' weakest area, I do appreciate their speed and effort to get me a job. Plus, the staff is very friendly. Overall, this job agency is decent and deserve 3 stars. If they put in more effort to reach out to their employees, they could have earned a higher rating!
