I cannot give enough praise to NorCal Staffing for all that they did for our wedding! From the start we were very straight forward about our expectations of the staff. Through multiple phone calls with Jenni, my (now) husband relayed our experiences of being part of other weddings where the catering/ staffing company actually stole from wedding guests and groom! (*NOT THIS COMPANY). Jenni was patient and listened to all our concerns, assuring us that she herself would be present on our wedding day. She reassured us that we could be comfortable with all the staff that would be present. We had just under 200 people attend our wedding and had 6 NorCal staffing servers and 3 bartenders (2 bars). We had a buffet but the staff helped with EVERYTHING including table setting, cocktail hour set up/ serving (hors devours & drinks), refilling water pitchers at tables, walking around to fill wine glasses for guests, clearing plates to prep for rental pick up, serving dessert, cleaning/ break down at the end of the night, and a whole lot more that I'm not even aware of I'm sure! All staff was courteous and professional as promised. In the couple weeks since our wedding we've heard multiple stories from friends and family about how different staffing team members went out of their way for our guests. Ensuring they all got what they needed whether it be a particular wine or dessert option. The lead bartender, Mike, was loved by our guests. We've heard a couple little anecdotes from guests about how much they enjoyed chatting with him. He kept our bar organized and moving quickly so that no lines built up which was important to us. He also went above and beyond, bringing myself and my husband a drink during dinner. I really appreciated this gesture as I'm sure there was plenty for him to do, but he noticed we didn't have drinks yet and took care of that right away. We were very particular about the look / vibe of our servers. Long story short, we love baseball and wanted to incorporate a "fall classic" theme. During the cocktail hour or "tailgate" as we called it & dinner, they were dressed professionally in all black/ server attire. After dinner, by our request, they changed into neon green shirts with our logo (we provided) and acted as vendors passing out our cotton candy and churros for dessert, just like ball park vendors! At first we were hesitant to make this request because we didn't want to be difficult or ask for too much but Jenni assured us it would not be an issue. It was just another element of our wedding that wow'd our guests and we really appreciate NorCal Staffings participation in that. I had limited interaction with the staffing team overall since there was so much going on, but the ones I did interact with were very pleasant. At the end of the night everything was accounted for (again, we have heard horror stories of OTHER vendors/companies taking alcohol from weddings) and that did not happen. When my husband met the team onsite before the whole wedding started to brief them, he told them that we wanted this to be fun for them too and not just a typical wedding. From the way our guests described interactions with them + our own, we hope that this was true for the staff and that they had a good time too! We were extremely impressed with the professionalism, flexibility and willingness to go above and beyond by the ENTIRE NorCal Staffing Team! I found NorCal Event staffing on Yelp the evening before a major event that I was hosting the following morning for 200 dignitaries. At the very last minute, my event was in need of wait-staff, and after a few phone calls that resulted in "Sorry, we can't help you," I ended up on the phone with Mike at NorCal Staffing, who immediately took the approach of, "Let me figure out how we can make this happen." And that, he did. All I had to do was tell Mike the particulars of my event and what I needed, and he literally "made it happen." All throughout our initial phone call, it was clear that he was going out of his way to provide excellent customer service. Mike was able to mobilize an entire team of 7 to arrive, set up, serve, clean up, and take down a VIP Breakfast event -- in about 12 hours! Not only did he find and provide staffing for my event, he showed up himself to manage the event, and made sure that I did not have to even THINK about what his team was doing during the event. Also notable, was that Mike's team worked within a limited/challenging space (a TSA-secured airport terminal gate), providing piping and curtains so that the area looked clean and professional at all times. We went with this staffing agency because of the reviews. Unfortunately, we ended up with a poor team. Sometimes it's a matter of luck on who is assigned to your event. Here are the problems with our staff: 1) 2 of the 4 showed up late. 2) Only 1 of them worked hard. The rest were in the kitchen eating our food and talking. They didn't do anything unless they were specifically directed to. 3) Before our caters were even ready, the 4 of them lined up first and ordered plenty of food. They ordered enough to even take leftovers home. We don't mind feeding them but at least let our caters finish setting up, and let some of the guests eat first. Also, why are you ordering double to take home leftovers? :| 4) We let them out 45 minutes before they were scheduled to leave. One still left 30 minutes before that. 5) They were slow on both setting up and cleaning up. In hindsight, given how poor this team of staff was, we were better off not hiring any of them at all. I would definitely not use NorCal Event Staffing again, and most of the guests at the event had the same feeling. read more

NorCal came highly recommended, and I was really impressed with Mike's attention to detail, honesty, and prompt response time. However, the staff that serviced my wedding recently were unprofessional. I (the bride) was repeatedly interrupted from private conversations and from trying to eat my dinner by staff members who felt it necessary to say hello. One staff member left early and very publicly gathered her personal items, passed right behind us at our sweetheart table, and crossed the dancefloor to leave. She could have easily and discreetly slipped out through the hallway, or even along the perimeter of the room. But what really shocked me is that they signed our photo mat very prominently, right next to our photo. We used this in lieu of a guestbook, and going to display this in our home. I cannot understand how anyone in the staff would think this behavior is appropriate. Now we have a lasting reminder of their poor judgement. If you wouldn't mind total strangers inserting themselves in your event, I think using NorCal would be fine. But if your event is important to you, look elsewhere. read more

For one thing, over the course of the few months that I emailed Mike with questions and changes and whatever else I bugged him about, he was always so pleasant and helpful and prompt with his replies. He gave me a fair amount of advice because I knew we needed waitstaff but for quite some time I needed to work through details like whether or not we were changing the room around, whether we'd have 75 or 100 people, etc. We had 4 waiters since we wound up having close to 100 people in one room, with a buffet. On the big day I didn't get to see the prep but my mom told me that they were on time and hit the ground running the moment they arrived. When I walked in, the tables were set beautifully. The servers were lovely - always smiling - and super attentive. We even forgot to rent enough forks or plates or something and I heard they washed everything thoroughly and got the crowd right back in business - no one was any the wiser. NorCal Event Staffing staffed my Mountain View wedding this July. It was an excellent experience! We had an outside catering company drop off prepared food and Mike and his crew did the rest! They worked a full 8-hour shift for us and did everything from setting things up (linens, setting tables, moving furniture, etc), warming the food and preparing it to be served, flipping the areas (moving chairs from ceremony to reception, etc), serving dinner, replenishing drinks, breaking down areas towards the end of the night, and cleaning up. Mike used a checklist at the end of the night to make sure everything was in order and saw that we didn't stay late or get charged by the venue for anything being out of place. I was able to call Mike along the way in the planning process to ask questions and make changes to our original plan. He was always helpful, receptive, and super knowledgeable.
