I took my wife here for a general consultation for cold after spotting this place to be a premium care and also within her network, through her insurance login. To our dismay, everything started falling apart right after we started interacting with the front desk person. It was an old lady who interacted with us and what we thought was a formal way of asking us where we were from, turned out to be a nightmare when she discovered that her sons were doing business in our hometown in India. She started recollecting the business holding name, places that she knows in our state and everything else other than getting us in. These were certain things that hit the sour spot- 1. Icebreaker speech cannot become a lakeside conversation 2. If they cannot accept credit or debit card just because they don't have a card reader, they cannot direct the patients to walk across to an ATM to withdraw the deductible money to pay them. 3. There needs to be a separate front desk to take calls. With no exaggeration, there were at least 10 calls on their intercom that the front desk receptionist was trying to juggle between them and while interrogating us (mind you, the paperwork hadn't started then) 4. We wondered why they had a computer in the first place as the details collection all happened on a piece of paper. 5. While we were starting to feel uneasy on every passing minute(we were 25 minutes past our appointment time already and my wife's name was hardly written on the paper), another patient turned up and she right away abandoned the paperwork and walked to the weighing machine to get his weight checked. 6. After getting back to the paperwork, she finally started writing down the symptoms, other medications that my wife takes and finally asked for her SSN. This is when we thought No more and decided to leave to catch up for another personal appointment that we were already late for. Again, this review is by no means to judge the Doctor's expertise and only the way our registration was handled and our unpleasant front desk experience.

Papers have been lost, phone calls not returned and excuses made about office machinery being 'broken'. Never again, nor can I recommend anyone use him as your primary care provider. I was told that the office is not taking patients, but they can see me, since I have not been for a check-up in over two years. When I got there at 9:55am, I was greeted by Marina, a billing staffer, who was helping out on front desk in Irina's absence. Marina kept running to Dr. Vernikova after every patient call, and the questions that she was asking,--even I knew the answer to. Such constant running back and forth to ask Dr. V. questions that any receptionist should know was annoying, since my time with Dr. V. kept being interrupted. When my check-up concluded at 10:15am, four more patients were waiting at the reception area. I guess this office is seeing patients, and the business must go on. So if you need a check-up with PHP, this is your office. Just check what insurance they accept. They accept Medicaid, but stopped accepted United Healthcare. I got the results of my bloodwork on a Tuesday, so just a few days after my appointment, which is pretty swift. Zoya Vernikova has been my, my mother's, my best friend's, and my best friend's mother's doctor for quite a long time. She genuinely cares about her patients and always shows deep interest in their well-being. I dread any kinds of doctors and medical procedures, but Dr. Vernikova is the only doctor who puts me at ease. I feel safe to open up with her and express everything that is on my mind. Her bedside manner is very gentle and attentive. She noticed the enlarged veins on my legs during one visit and ordered a test, which another doctor performed that same day in the office. The results confirmed varicose veins [which runs in the family] and Dr. Vernikova went over a series of preventative measures to help avoid future complications with that condition. Just a word of caution. Dr. Verknikova is very caring, yet her manner is very straightforward, so that can rub many patients the wrong way. For example, when my mother, who has two incompatible types of cancers, which baffle all doctors who learn of such impossibility, came for a check-up, Dr. V. said, "my deepest sympathies, now we have to pray." That clearly is not very encouraging to a sick patient who has heard the worst already and is expecting some support and hope to keep fighting. Also, when I was in for my appointment, Dr. V. was talking on a phone with a family member of an old, sick patient who was battling coronavirus and was denied being admitted to a hospital due to his age and pre-existing medical conditions. Dr. V. was very straightforward, saying there's a 50/50 chance and there's nothing else that can be done. The person on the phone kept asking for some sort of reassurance, but Dr. V.'s manner was brisk and impersonal, as if she just told someone that tomatoes are healthier than cucumbers, not that someone's loved one has 50/50 chance of surviving. The office uses Patient Fusion, an easy online platform where you can schedule appointments, check results of your medical tests & procedures, and talk with your doctor about any concerns you might suddenly have, from the comfort of your couch. The reason why I'm taking off a star is for the above mentioned stories and for the wait time before an appointment. If you come after 4pm--brace yourself--you'll be in for a looooooong wait. Bring a book. I once waited for almost two hours on a Monday evening after work. Make early morning appointments if you'd like to get out of here without aging in the waiting room.

I had previously seen a rheumatologist for relief who misread the situation and gave me an unnecessary injection, providing no relief and weakening the tendons overall. A friend highly recommended Dr. Botwinick, so I decided to see him for a consultation. He was fantastic, as was his assistant Alyse and all of the staff that man his office. Professional, on time, friendly, informative and thorough: everything you'd want in a doctor and staff. He scheduled the surgery quickly and promised I would have relief after it was done, and sure enough, a week later, that is just what I've got. My hand is significantly better and will undoubtedly improve further in the coming weeks. The one thing that REALLY stood out to me: Dr. Botwinick did not dismiss my concerns about the affects of taking anti-inflammatories or antibiotics on my overall immune health. He really listened and treated me, the whole patient. It is unexpected to find doctors in "traditional medicine" who are open to that level of discussion, and I appreciated his willingness to address all of my concerns following the surgery. They are not only the best group of physical therapists I have ever come across, but they are a lot of fun to be around. When common methods don't work, they work hard to come up with new (and sometimes entertaining) ideas to help you get better. I have recommended multiple people come here. They have already helped me get back onto mat faster than anyone expected. I have another surgery coming up and I plan on going back there to recover. The only negative is that one of the women who works the front desk is a pain to deal with. But you don't go there to deal with the people at the front desk, you go there for therapy. And since the therapists Gene adn Steve are top notch, problem solved.
